So, how much stuff will Dust get in the meantime?
Someone else just asked about controllers. How about testing an experimental controller control-scheme that actually utilizes the strengths of a controller instead of cramming fine aim onto the analog sticks, which completely suck at the job? This would allow for a good foundation for having proper kb/m support while allowing players to use the controller - Otherwise, the controller players will be at a huge disadvantage. It would also make nice headway for a possible PS4 port, especially if you intend crossplay. There have been a few very good FPS control schemes that made good use of controllers, but they never catched on for some ******** reason. Controllers simply don't allow for the same pace as kb/m and I would be disappointed if the PC version of Dust didn't get an upped pace, with faster scouts and the like. Side note: Would we get joystick support for possible additions to the vehicle roster, like fighter craft?
And yes, this question is basically a non-sequitur.
Other than that, I wonder who thought it would be a good idea to tell the fans "go to Iceland and you will see the future of Dust! You will see something big! Also, here are Omega boosters!" and then having a 15 minutes keynote that wasn't about Dust. In addition, the other two keynotes should have started with "This is about Legion" and not "This is about Dust and Legion, but MOST applies to Legion", with a statement at the end that clarified that, no, Dust won't get the new skill tree and suit BPOs. Had you done it in ANY other way, no one would be enraged. The hostility is not because of Legion, but because of this simple play with expectations. Had your people gone on stage and said "We can't work with the PS3 and are giving up on Dust. Here is our new project, on PC - And this time, we will be able to keep our promises. Don't worry, your accounts will continue in this new game and we will invite you all to the Beta", no one would have been angry. Sure, a few people genuinely can't get themselves a suitable PC, but I bet most don't have trouble with that. Now I always have to wonder how I should react if you hype anything at all. And what happens if Legion ISN'T greenlit? Does Dust lose its future entirely? Is that the situation where our accounts and investment won't be able to be retained?
I also wonder about the hacking situation. I mean, you are experienced on PC with EVE, but hacking on an FPS is on an entirely different level from games with indirect controls. |

I've tried to make this super clear - we will do whatever we can to transfer over your investment in DUST. That means names, skills, items, etc - where possible. The only reason I say where possible is because progression, skills and items are being looked at and there's no guarantee that they will be in Legion. In that case, we would do our best to find some other way of protecting that investment. OUR "Investment" doesnt mean **** if we dont own a PC. You know as well as i do that the majority of players for Dust 514 are CONSOLE ONLY. Do you really expect them to just up and Buy a console for a game that may very well get scrapped like your scrapping dust? I for one have no intention of investing any further in Dust or in your "new toy". You did the community a disservice and you and all of CCP knows it Going to PC first gives you a greater chance of a higher quality PS4 port, faster. #reality #hashtagtheycanmakeitontheps4justaseasilyasthepc No, the proper progression is PC -> PS4. This allows them to make a piece of **** that demands 64GB RAM and two Titan GPUs with a quad i7 setup and a RAID array of SSDs. Once they got the gameplay nailed down, they can lower the system requirements to sane levels. And once that happens and they try to port to PS4, they will be forced to optimize even more, which not only allows for the PS4 port but also makes the PC version better.
If you go the opposite way, you have a situation where you need to optimize an unfinished game. And Dust has already shown us how competent CCP are at multitasking. |
