I think I want to start highlighting random shows on the Crunchyroll lineup that don't suck and are totally worth watching.
So let's start with Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World)
At first I was skeptical. The initial presentation of the world is one of an almost fantasy-esque depiction of a time in which Humans inexplicably have telekinetic powers. You follow the lives of a bunch of young kids as they go about their daily lives and slowly start to stumble on some of the odd happenings of the world around them. People disappearing, memories being tinkered with, and a conspiracy of deception woven into the backbone of society itself slowly makes itself clear. You're not given the whole picture of the world in any single exposition laden episode but rather it's something that slowly builds as the characters begin to branch out, mature, and explore. Something clicks along the way and what you're originally lead to believe is that fantasy-esque society actually turns out to be something far more interesting, a very intelligently laid out Science Fiction show that asks and answers a simple question "What happens to a society where individual members gain tremendous power?" It's great.
SoTa PoP wrote:now watching Chihayafuru - a show that proves anime can take some really boring subject and make it fun to watch. Joshiraku proved that much to me. Literally a group of girls that hang out in the back of a comedy club and talk about random ****, it's great.

Yay, something to look forward too :3
But this Chiya show is great, it just edges you on in such a gentle way without ever really capturing you in any single moment, just the entirety of how everything play together and out makes it an enjoyable watch, nearing season 2.
Also, I haven't seen Code;breaker or something like that, anyone know if it's good? Seems it's dubbed too.

Bebop's definitely a classic though I'm more a Samurai Champloo guy myself.
Also first One-Punch Man key visual released : https://40.media.tumblr.com/976ddd59065eb88bcbf7c81aaaaeff3f/tumblr_nl1zcyGBsb1sqqtwzo1_1280.jpg

I found an English cover of Parasyte's opening in my Youtube subscription box, so I thought I would share it here.
Let Me Hear - Cover by: Amanda Lee
Amanda does some really amazing work. Even though I much prefer Japanese music over English music, her covers are just too beautiful to ignore. Honestly, I suggest if you liked this cover you should look at her other covers as well. Actually, look up her other covers even if you didn't like this one, because they truly are amazing.
Also, in reply to Shayz, while Spring looks good that does not mean it will be good. After Fall last year I will always be weary when a season looks like it will be good. I'm looking forward to FSN:UBW and Plastic Memories, but aside from that I am going to assume everything else will be disappointing, simply for the sake of me being a pessimist.

Yeah, and this is crunchyroll alone:
Cross Ange Saekano Gourmet Girl Graffiti Comical Psychosomatic Medicine Testament of New Sister Devil World Break: aria of curse for a holy swordsman Unlimited Fafnir ISUCA
I'm glad KanColle went for moe at least
I was laughing the entire first episode of ISUCA though for the exact reason you stated. I've never seen a show shove fanservice in your face so damn hard.

Isuca is more then just straight up ecchi - it's just like Testament Sister, it's just the cast supporting the leads aren't nearly as interesting or developed.
Which takes the pacing of the show and focus and makes it all feel like a repeat of a show we've seen already.
The only thing the show really offers, though, is the mix of Tsundere and Gore, lol. Damn a lot of people die in this show :D
Isuca tries to be like Toreador mistakenly, if Toreadora didn't have that FANTASTIC cast supporting it it would of fallen short. But putting the focus on two characters and using everyone else to develop them is a class romance strategy in anime.
Not many shows can make relationships engrossing like Spice and Wolf - and Isuca tries and fails.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with a little ecchi humor, but this season is just way too over the top. i have found myself having to fast forward through testament of the new sister devil or whatever the heck it is called. that show has kind of dropped the ball lately. most of the new shows so far have been subpar. the only ones i can watch without fast forwarding are kancolle and how to raise a boring girlfriend. maria the virgin witch is a good one too. the rest just kind of blow. |

Death Parade and Yuri Kuma Arashi are also worth watching this season. The latter starts out a bit ... obtuse but by episode 4 it starts to catch its stride. If you're able to muscle through Kancolle though then it should be fine.

Yeah totally, the TV adaptation is pretty great. Certainly does better at adapting the material than the Golden Age movies.

I can't say I can recall a lot of fiction going the -suddenly robot eye starts controlling personality- route unless you're referring to a different plot twist.

Caught up on Log Horizon.
I get where you guys are coming from now - a lot of the shows interesting pace is finally taking a back seat to flesh out some characters internal strife believably.
Unfortunately they did so by tying two slow stories together.
They probably thought people would enjoy watching the loli purple hair girl learingn her Teaching - but it was tedious watching her anguish over a childish issue. And it's backed and then followed by slow pacing and lots of internal dialogue.
But to say the show has dropped for it is too much, Log Horizon in season 2 is basically telling us they're comfortable enough with the plot and characters that they can slow it down and start fleshing everything out.
as such, season 2 is much like season one of clannad, it's not going to wrap up anything but give you a ton more questions.
There's also something else I've noticed - animation quality dropped. When i went to go research I found out they actually had a bigger budget, but consistently I saw poorly drawn characters, especially in the later episodes.
I'm starting to think Log Horizon development team ran into issues, especially with how fast pace these later episodes are being.

This is becoming noticeable more frequently in the later episodes, especially when the youngster started there travels. yeah, it bugs me, i mean it won't make me stop watching but it feels like they're rushing production or just don't have the time to make the visuals match the story. in the last episode in particular there were some really jagged character profiles.
