I don't like english VA but there are some good ones, like DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, the first Digimon A.K.A Digimon Adventure except for Mimi, never did liked her voice and have to hand it off to Pokemon, they did an all right job with the English dubs. I need to start to watch more anime, I am so far behind on my list. I recently finished with SAO and to be honest, I didn't enjoy that anime too much hype and the ending was so...handed out. Try Spice and Wolf - It's one of my favorite for Dubs and as a show itself it's my number 1. But I have a thing for a strong female lead and interesting setting

Looks like I am going to have an anime weekend to catch up on the anime that I want to watch. I have heard of Spice and Wolf, is it on Netflix or on Hulu? 48 hours to watch nothing but anime. The only anime that I can think that has a strong female lead is Blue Gender. It's on hulu for sub but I can get you links to dub ^_^ |

I use to watch anime on animeseason but they don't have too many anime to choose from. Hulu's collection of anime is probably bigger then Crunchyroll - but Crunchy gives 1080p quality <3 |

- Berserk
- Anything to do with Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken (ATATATATATATATATATA! WA-TA!), as it inspired pretty much all action manga/anime out there.
- School Days, for those who have not yet received the baptism of yandere.
- Boku no Pico (I'M JOKING DON'T WATCH IT IT WILL SCAR YOU FOR LIFE)
- Sky Crawlers is an interesting watch
However like I said, strong emotions have only for me been pulled out by manga.
Beserker is amazing and recommended to any who hasn't watched - but be warned it's unfinished but there may be plans to fix that soon.
And School Days is ... a must watch for anime fans. Just don't throw your keyboard into your screen Lol |

- Fairy Tail (having problems finding epsiode past 20-something because they stopped having medium quality english dubbed and I can't find another website that does)
- Oh! Edo Rocket
Does anyone know a website with the last few episode of Hellsing Ultimate (9 & 10) in English dubbed medium quality? the website I was using trolled me by switching to english subbed without letting me know. Lol, I can't remember what animes I've posted already and I don't feel like double posting them or reading through all my old posts checking them off a list as I go. Anyone else enjoying the new shows this season? Crunchyroll picked up all the good ones and Hulu got the other 3-4 that seemed great. So far this has been a wonderful season. I think I want to watch a romance next. I loved the adorable scenes in Chobits, and halfway through SAO (Trying to avoid spoilers, but you guys know what I mean. The two weeks on "vacation"), was also one of my favorite parts of SAO.
So, based off of those two, any ideas?
Also, don't mention Clannad. I haven't seen it yet, and I am not sure if I could handle it. It has been really over-hyped for me. Clannad Season 1 is slow ... but if you can make through to season 2 you'll be crying as if CCP fixed Dust. Q.Q
As for romance - I highly recommend Spice and Wolf or Hatsukoi Unlimited.
Anime has a ton of good romances though, just go to Animehere.com and pick whichever. Anime + Romance = best. |

I didn't cry but I listened to nothing but the blues for a couple of days if you, you know wanna get in touch with your more senseitive side I recomend: 5 centimeters per second elfen lied (seriously nsfw) CANNAN if you ever figure out what happened, phantom requiem for the phantom is really sad Anohana is another good tear-jerker. |

I think it's a great story. It delves into lots of moral issues within the story.
Basically it's about a utopian society that has phykokinineses powers. As such they are revered to as gods by the lower life forms they rule over. Then 5 kids start learning about the dark truths to the society they live in and crazy stuff happens.
Warning: it does delve into some deep topics. There is a gay scene somewhere in the middle. As well as scenes of oppression of lower life forms

Seriously, I spent the last half of ep. 19 saying "Oh, god no. Don't make him do it. Ah hell, he's doing it. WHY? WHY IS HE DOING THAT!?!?!?" And wait, it will only get better/worse from now on, so prepare your feels. Haha - it doesn't follow the progression Fate/Stay/Night says it should - but it was a great watch regardless. Beautiful animation. The dub they did a good job mostly - but I watch FSN then FSZ dubs - and they changed sabers voice Q.Q
But screw dubs anyways - sub was great ;)
Just finished B Gata H Kei - Yamada's first time. I forgot how funny this show was. Had to read the manga afterwords - a bit disappointing but least it progresses a lot further. |

Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tale - these are anime (there's others) that need no mention. And to be fair - compared to other anime they're quality isn't that good. Compare the beautiful art of K to Naruto - or try Guilty Crown vs Bleach.
Imo the truly good shows, Toradora, Onegai Twins, Spice and Wolf, are ignored. So I like to bring light to the darkness that is there beauty.
I mean, can you really compare mainstream to a show like Broken Blade? Or how about B Gata H Kei? Or even Golden Times?
I don't share american taste. Though I do love the fudging crap out of Trigun and Cowboy Bebop and FLCL. :3 |

Exactly - fillers kill anime for me. |

I re-watched SAO and Log Horizon to finally judge the two and see the difference qualities.
SAO is definitely a rushed show in comparison to LH smooth progression. But rushed or not, SAO delivers on characters and depths, where Log Horizon characters are mostly shallow with just hints of more. But LH character are more enjoyable to watch
But plot is where LH shines after SAO stumbles half way. The strong romance and value of human life in SAO pushes the show strongly forward, where as Log Horizon is about a not-so-average dedicated player using his vast knowledge and intellect to pave a way forward and show how blurry good and evil is.
SAO would of won in probably every category if they would of ended it at 14-15 episodes. As rushed as the first 6-7 episodes are, they're enjoyable, and sometime emotional. But as soon as the epic tale hits half way, it blind sides itself by falling down the most generic of plots and destroying the major driving factor for the story's romance. Turning the show into a grind to see the moment you want.
Log Horizon on the other hand never falters in it's plot, in fact, quite the opposite. It gets better with each episode by leaps. Going from a tale of a single adventurer to a tale of nations, done in the most interesting way possible for a gamer like us to enjoy. But the plot mostly centers around a neutral like character often perceived as evil who plays a support role. He shows everyone reality of player interaction, and why even support role characters can shine like any other favorited class. He's also a known strategist, and uses his ability to bring people together on there own. It's a brilliant show, but as well told as it is it lacks one major thing - Emotion.
Far as animation and voice actors go - SAO wins hands down by leaps and bounds. Though Log Horizons sound track is more enjoyable.
Ultimately, SAO delivers a more emotional show that'll draw you into the story. Where as Log Horizon is less personal and more political. Depending on taste you could easily say one is better then the other, but as a person who enjoys being drawn in, SAO ultimately wins for me.

episode 2 & 3 review:
There is something off about this show. I'm guessing it's progression and all the character details they left out about the main cast - like who the hell everyone is, but it's something more.
Maybe I just hate the writers idea about how he views the government would react/handle things. Look at humanities leader - that white hair princess. I almost gave up hope for the show when I realized that one of humanities greatest leaders was a princess who couldn't speak a harsh word to a guy slaughtering her people in front of her. She's incredibly unrealistic to the dark story, and her staff is equally unrealistic in there nobility attire.
With no explanation to how humanity is surviving in such an isolated spot that CAN MAINTAIN A NORMAL FUNCTION OF AN ENTIRE CITY - this show just has too many unrealistic qualities. Such as the treatment of cursed children.
Can anyone honestly say you'd treat any form of a human being badly if they protected your life and had the ability to cry, laugh, and enjoy? Humanity has time to dissect and learn from these girls to get over there blind hatred - this show is just purposely stupid to create a sub-par plot.
The antagonist - however, continues to be amazing and makes the show worth to watch <3

On a quick google search the writer of the source material (the light novel) is the same guy who wrote Log Horizon so I'm immediately interested from that fact alone. The director for the anime adaptation for Maoyu is the Spice and Wolf dude. Not sure why I haven't seen this one mentioned more often ... may have to check it out. Indeed, how I was explained about this show was quite epic:
Log Horizon writers characters *But from a hentai plot*
With Spice and Wolfs setting and design team.
It was a sincere match made in heaven.

What's special about it is who did the dubbing Animax, normally a ****** company, this is there rare good one - I've looked everywhere for this copy, it's really hard to find on streaming until recently.
The english voice for Maria is probably one of the best voice actors of all time, the voices in general in this dub are original. also just finished Nobuna's recently Dub release - another very well done dub. Beautiful show too.

My top 5 are:
1) Niskoi 2 - adored season 1, may just go rewatch it.
2) Ore Monotagari!! - Love shows like these, beauty and the beast. Reminds me of the original episode of Hatsukoi Unlimited, another fantastic watch.
3) Owari no Seraph - sounds epic lol
4) Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku Feel - Loved season 1, been waiting for this forever <3
5)Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo (TV) - sounds like it'll be great
FSN didn't make it cause I haven't even watched season 1 yet, but I will soon :3

I gave Kamisama Kiss's dub a shot since I have this 2 week free trial app with Funimation - it's strange to say, but I don't remember enjoying it all that much in sub - but this time around in Dub it was much better. Voices were great and animation enjoyable.
Story wasn't bad either. I hear season 2 is coming - looking forward to it.
Did I mention Nobuna Oda's Dub is also pretty well done? Nobuna's voice is perfect.

At least in Dust there's PC - and FF14 has a cool PvP mode.
WF's PvP would be the best of them all by MILES if they just put a bit more attention into it - but they never do.

Seen - Death Parade* Yuri Kuma Arashi Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love! (Magical boys!)
Anticipating - Rolling Girls* Durarara S2 Maria the Virgin Witch
* = Funimation has the rights to stream it, rip.
But like I said, we've just started here. Even Terror in Resonance and Aldnoah Zero were good for their first few episodes. Judging a show by, at best, its FIRST episode is pretty dangerous territory so take all of this with an appropriate grain of salt.
Also hi. Hi! Long time no see. While we are at it I have a list of shows I am planning in watching. Could you, or anyone else, tell me which of these I shouldn't even bother with, so I don't end up wasting my time diving into a completely **** show. K-on Vocaloid Idolmaster Noragami Tokyo Ravens Clannad (And Clannad After Story) Nisekoi Haikyu Any and all opinions appreciated. Also if you say a show is ****, please explain why, without spoiling anything. Idk what Vocoloid is - but that list could easily be my favorite slice of lifes/romances lol
K-on is slice of life only - bout 5 girls in a light music club making music and living life together - I personally love this show, seen it 3 times, lol.
Idolmaster - This show is another great slice of life, could of easily gone another season with it's interesting cast. Likely we will being see A LOT more of this title in the future. Another show like this to check out on CR would be Long Live! - which is arguably a better show, but both are great if you like slice of life.
Noragami - This is action/slice of life/ drama / yokai kinda show. HAs slice of life elements, but the focus is a god down on his luck, basically. It's both funny and pleasant to the eyes. I'd recommend it to anime fans, easily. It's a lot like the next show -
Tokyo Ravens - just like Noragami - both are damn good watches. Just this show doesn't need gods, everyones a bad ass.
Clannad (and After Story) - .... *clears eyes* Now that I'm done thinking about this show - go watch. You will cry. A lot. If you feels your one of those emotionless people I love recommending this show - without fail After Story will get you.
Nisekoi - Another personal favorite, this ties generic plot devices and characters and emphasis them in a way that's refreshing to watch. I think the animation quality had a lot to do with this - but it's a Shaft show, so expect the best.
Haikyuu - not a sports fan, tend to stay away. Not that I don't like sports in general - just that the drama involved in these shows tend to be overly predictable.
Other shows I'd recommend outside your list on CR:
Hanasaku Iroha - visually alone, you'll understand why I recommend this.
Hayate the Combat Butler - I recommend this just to see if you even like it - it's like the most basic of basic of anime, but it's great, near damn good, for what it is.
Kokoro Connect - Physiological anime - bout a group of high school kids who get mentally ****** with by a god during high school and romance/drama.
My Little Monster - amazing Romance, absolutely enthralling watching the main female and male leads interact.
Nogizaka Haruka no Himtsu - you seemed a romance fan, this is a good romance, a bit basic like Hayate - but still a good watch. The ending, like Oriemo, is in OVA series.
Oriemo - this is an incest show, but the most popular of it's kind. So much so, that it's ending nearly incited riots. lol A romance/slice of life show, but there's another element hard to explain.
School Days - the ultimate mind **** romance. Watch uncensored for full effect of PURE HATE.
The Tower of Druaga - Action/Romance/Adventure - it's based on an MMO - It's a show for all types, I'd recommend it for light humor and romance mixed in with a great plot.
Toradora - Sits right next to Clannad as one of the best romances of all time - CR even has it's dub.
The World God Only Knows - another romance, but this one has a format to it that gives a refreshing take on an over-used plot. I'd highly recommend this one, anyone could get into it.
Magi - Pure awesome goodness. It has everything but Mechs <3 I could say so much about this show - but all I'll say is GIVE ME SEASON 3!~
Bakemonotagari - Another Shaft show - so expect excellence in both script and animation. And out-going craziness. An example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXX7dRULFaE
No Game No Life - epic. Someone else will go into a lot of detail why, lol.
Love, Chuunibyo, & other Delusions - lol, this show is amazing. It's a slice of life that goes over the top with it's own animation and explodes into epic battle scenes using kitchen wear and umbrellas.
Total Eclipse Muv Luv - Gorey, great plot, good characters. If you like mecha anime you'll love it.

Oh, one show on CR I forgot to mention and should be on the TOP of your list - Madoka Magica. A magical girl anime that will leave you both ****** and humbled. It's genres are mind **** a nd magic with yuri. And this is where we differ! For me the mechanics of the world and its characters are fundamentally tied. In the best cases the characters become a reflection of the world and the conditions in which they've developed and this makes up for a lot of the enjoyment I get out of a piece of media. Sure, there are exceptions, I loved Nozaki-kun and more light hearted comedies. But for a show that has ambitions beyond the comedy (like Kokoro Connect) I find it extremely important that the mechanics of the world and its character flow together seamlessly. It's a lot of the reason why I couldn't enjoy Kokoro as much as most people. On the flipside shows that dedicate a lot of their time to just exploring the people and places around them within the framework of what they've created I appreciate all that much more. Mushishi will forever be one of my favorite shows and I have a soft spot for the more episodic or Science Fiction leaning shows that either create a far off goal to create an excuse to have adventures or are more dedicated to creating a mechanically sound experience. Basically what I'm saying is to watch Planetes. Putting on my list now, haven't seen it.
But now I counter recommend since you like setting so much - Crest of the Stars. It has what I love - strong character development, but it does something even better then that - it's setting, technology, and how this universe evolved and expanded.

So, I decided to stay up all night because I have very early morning battles vs Nyain San
So I watched an anime movie - I tend to never watch any anime movies - they're always rushed and nearly unbearable, Akira being the one of two exceptions. *Luckily the other exception is on CR <3*
But now, there's a third. Wolf Children.
Ugly show considering the date it released, just 2 years ago. It's animation quality reminded me of cheap scenes in FLCL - and that's really saying something. But certain aspects of the animation really drove home expressions and the drama, so I won't knock off too many points for this.
But I tend to look past animation if it holds one element - A damn good TOLD story. The difference of a well told story with a bad plot vs a badly told story with a good plot is a major one for me. And this show holds down both a good told story and a good plot.
However, as much as I want to go on another one of my tangents on how much I liked this show - it irked me, as well.
THIS MOVIE SHOULD OF BEEN A TV SHOW. It would of been damn, damn good. I was invested in every single character enough that I would of been tickled to find OVA's or any sort of continuation.

Bakemonotagari is just one of those shows like Cowboy Bebop that'll probably go down as a timeless classic.
But there's one other point to be made here: Anything made by Shaft is gold.
Bakemontagari
Niskoi
Zetsuba Sensei *This show is NUTS... in a good way lol*
and some weird show about a kid who can time travel with some ghost, forgot the name but it's another shaft show that deserves praise.
And then there's Ayakawa Under the Bridge
I don't think this company has ever done a show that's rated anything but good.

It's not emotionally impacting - but you will be impacted. Wait, what? How did Spice and Wolf become your number 1? Spice and Wolf was great and hits home telling its story but a lackluster Season 2 finale with a "well, maybe we'll do a Season 3" feeling too it really put me off. I still recommend Spice and Wolf to people but only of its unique category of economics that it covers with a nice little romance/companionship story interwoven... but it's by no means the top... Then again to each their own... Ruroni Kenshin is my top, mainly because of how surprising the series turned out to be. It starts off as a little action/comedy piece. But eventually, the writing goes deeper and farther than any show I've ever seen. As the show continues, the action scenes become crisper, cleaner, and heavier. The plot goes deeper and character development becomes stronger. And then were are graced with prequels to show the history of Kenshin that takes the series for a deep turn into slice-of-life and drama. Finally, the last OVAs release which tie the prequels and the show together for the best damn example of how to tie-up any loose ends and best damn conclusion that leaves an impact that forges a memory of an unforgettable show, and turns any young boy into a man. Cowboy Bebop and Great Teacher Onizuka has these traits as well, but what made Kenshin stand out for me was where it started and where it finished. Bebop and Onizuka set the pace and the mood from the get-go whereas Kenshin surpised many as it evolved over time, not in a degrading way like most Shonen anime falls into, but a flourishing one to create one of the most surprising and impactful animes of all time. It's even more ironic, and yet fitting too, if you were to use an analogy to blacksmithing: Many Shonen animes attempt to forge the best swords; who knew that one of the greatest would come from a reverse-bladed swordsman? That's my take anyways... We definitely have differences of opinion here, the comments you speak about Spice and Wolf are fair enough - Season 3 will come someday! But Roruni Kenshin was destroyed by that very thing - though the exact details elude me so I may need to go re-watch it. But I remember being very unsatisfied with the show 40 episodes in, lol. Hm, I can't seem to remember the ending, good news for me, that means when I re-watch i'll get to enjoy it all over again <3

Imagination is for chapter books - I want to see this progression. The daughter really carried the show in a lot of ways, especially her character development. She goes from this wild child who seemed most likely to go wild - then finds a boy then wants to be more human. While the son is the exact opposite. It has so much potential for more :(

What marks a show as shaft isn't the plot or complexity *They do tend to have very complex emotionally shows followed by a very talkative plot* but the way everything is both introduced and relayed to you.
It's the camera angles. 100% all about that. You will be seeing up there nose hairs and upside down, the screen will start going crazy randomly, random images thrown at you that can make sense or not - with text that come as fast as they go.
Shaft screams there own style - and I'd never want them to change.
As for Arawakwa - It's a romance/comedy, but it's pretty much all comedy. If you aren't looking for over-the-top fun, look else where. This show and NATSU NO ARASHI are destined to be the most unlike of Shafts work - there comedy is just too eccentric and western based. But I enjoyed them both immensely <3

Hm, I can't seem to remember the ending, good news for me, that means when I re-watch i'll get to enjoy it all over again <3 Have you seen Mayou? I think if we were to make a corp called "Spice and Wolf Season 3" you and I would be the only ones occupying it. The ending to Kenshin that I'm talking about was the OAV called "Reflection". If anything the ending to the TV series was "acceptable", if I remember correctly, but I can still remember "Reflection" as clear as yesterday, which was about 10+ years ago. Can't say I've seen Mayou... to quote Cat... Halp? If we made Spice and Wolf season 3 corp you, me, and maybe 40 others would join. Come join in the in-game talks sometime in Anime Empire - Spice and Wolf is a beloved show. It's fan are dedicated to it - and luckily for us there's plenty of material to hunt down. The anime covered only 3 out of 11 books of Spice and Wolf <3
And SEASON 3 WILL COME!~ The studio's hinted at it for a while, even out right said with a bit more support they'd be all for it - but Mayou ... also needs another season... just as badly <3 And yes, you do need to go watch this, it's competing with Spice and Wolf for my love.
That poor studio has way too many awesome titles they aren't pushing.

I'm sick of this ******* ****! At this rate, my ******* list of ******* anime to watch is almost going to be as ******* long as my ******* ****! Stop making every ******* show I've ever ******* heard of seem like it is ******* amazing! This can't be good for my health....... In all seriousness, after a day of conversation on this thread I swear my list has doubled length. I might actually have to write it down at this point...... Far as romances go - I haven't even begun to share with you the gems of the genre. Shows like:
http://kissanime.com/Anime/Aishiteruze-Baby - A show about a popular high school kid who has a 6 year old girl *ADORABLE BEYOND BELIIIIIIEF!!~~~* thrust upon him by his family to raise. It's a sincere and fantastic watch, but it's a bit dated animation... and yet, the girls are cuter then most modern ones.
Ah My Goddess - About a guy who has so much unluck, that heaven granted him a wish. They just didn't expect him to wish the goddess be his girlfriend, lol. And the best part is - she actually likes him for who he is - ends up heart warming and full of smiles.
Air and Kannon 2006 - If you watched Clannad or Angel Beats... then welcome to the shows that lead to them. Both romances that will inspire tears. Beautiful animation as well, age is hardly noticeable.
http://kissanime.com/Anime/Ano-Natsu-de-Matteru - girl comes to earth. Guy on earth sees her arrive. Girl lands on guy. Guy wakes up next morning goes to school and finds he has a new class mate - and she's moving in too. Pretty typical plot and setting - but there's nothing typical about the cast.
B Gata H Kei - this is just a good romance/comedy/ecchi. Bout a girl who wants to have lots n lots of sex. But to do it she has to lose her virginity - but she can't just to any guy! So she finds the 'right' guy - you can see where that goes as she finds him episode 1 - and he's a nerd, lol. Good show.
Bakuman - a MUST see for romance lovers. It's about 2 guys getting into the manga business to create an anime - there reasons? One wants to prove something to himself - the other made a promise with a girl who wants to be a VA that he'd make an anime she could be a VA for - and when he does, he'll marry her. I probably don't make it sound great - but it truly is.
http://kissanime.com/Anime/Bokura-ga-Ita - this is as dated as anime comes. It doesn't even bother finishing the drawing - most scenes are left half done. And it gives it such an atmosphere that is PERFECT for a romance setting - and that's what this show is - a very strong romance about a guy who is emotionally ****** up by woman in his past, and a girl whose innocence is actually refreshing.
These are just the shows in the A and B lists. There's still C - Z in the alphabet.

Arirana recently suggested a VN with a mac copy - Clannad: The Past Path
I knew it would be a tear jerker - I prepared myself for it. It's Clannad - and we know Tomoyo doesn't know his mother, so we can expect something.
So you know what the writer did?
He makes you wish it never comes.
I'll be playing this through again - I choose Atsuko for my first play through, she won me over instantly, I didn't even bother to meet the other girls.
But there was a tiny plot hole in the story that I won't mention because it only effected the route I choose, and it may of not of been wrapped up because of the choices I made that distanced myself from everyone but the single girl.
But the tears are real.

PS Now has a 2 week free trial sub - and if you get it comes with the Visual Novel Shinsagumi.
This, I believe, is based off the original content the show is from - or is the original content, not sure, but I already like it better then the anime itself - which was already pretty damn good.
I recommend the trial and trying this game out.

My first thoughts: Man this is dumb.... at least strike witches wasn't pretending to be an entire crew in one. But at least the show is adorable. Probably the cutest girls to date found in an anime...
and for the first 2 episodes, opinion didn't change...
And then first half of 3 - hints of a drama starts to build up, but it's still all fluffy.
...
and then episode 3 ends.

and I'm quite annoyed by two of the characters, who both happen to be the main female and male lead.
I hope the show switches focus or the guy chills the **** out - because his aggressiveness is appalling. And because of how he takes it out the female lead comes off as sub-servierent to males.
The other female character, the purple hair one, makes up for a lot of the weaknesses the two mains have, she's quite wonderful.

Also, I was comparing the endings Kokoro Connect and Nagi no Asakura as romance anime. As a show Nagi was miles(kilometers) better than Kokoro, but their endings left me with similar feelings of satisfaction, and both shows tied up the romances perfectly.
It's not that I can't appreciate romance or emotional drama it's that I think I have a much lower tolerance for inserted or contrived melodrama in a narrative, especially when I've seen shows nail aspects of drama or romance without falling into these traps. My problem was probably having my first dedicated high school slice of life/romance be Flowers of Evil. The high moments in Kokoro, the moments where the internal struggle between the characters were balanced perfectly with the external forces exposing the raw and unfiltered human within, reminded me of the feeling Flowers of Evil was able to consistently exude throughout the entirety of its series. Everything else just feels like a step down in comparison. Have you seen Bakemonotagari?

Its instantly shot itself up to one of my favorite shows of 2014. The author seriously needs to be commended for being able to juggle this many distinct characters and being able to provide meaningful development for nearly everyone up until this point. Episode 17 in particular is just like a microcosm of everything that I've enjoyed about this series to date. It highlights not only how far each of the characters have come on their individual paths but also how much further each of them have left to grow. Peppered in between we have the match analysis itself, the strategy involved, the why and how they're using their team's strengths differently this time. Withholding information in order to best use their tricks in the most opportune moments. I didn't expect going in to this show to become interested in the ins and outs behind Volleyball of all things but here I am surfing through episode after episode waiting to see more of what the show has to offer. Seriously guys, do not miss out on this show. I dislike sports anime but Haikyuu (and Ping Pong, why am I the only one who's seen Ping Pong) should definitely be on your watch lists. Once I catch up on Asukura this is next on my list.

Ice Royal Glantix wrote:Today marks the end of the 4th week of Winter 2015, which means I have seen the first three episodes of every show I am watching(I watch on a free Cruchyroll account, so I am a week behind). I thought I would post a quick review of everything I have seen, including Fall 2014 leftovers, going from worst to best.
#8 - Log Horizon: Honestly, this show has been disappointingly boring. Ever since Akatsuki's arc ended the show has been on a downward spiral for me, and this new arc following the young members is simply the worst yet. Every week I have to force my self to sit through an episode of this and every time it feels like a wasted effort.
#7 - KanColle: This show is bad. There is no other way of putting it. The only reason this placed above Log Horizon is because this show is interesting, and I can hope that it will improve. I look forward to seeing more of this show, but I will not be surprised of it turns out to be one of the worst shows I have seen.
#6 - Naruto Shippuden: I really should't have to explain my self here. Naruto is still Naruto: Not the best, but not terrible either. I am enjoying this latest season; this latest flashback has proven to be interesting.
#5 - World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman: Now we get into the good shows. This one surprised me a bit, as I went in expecting an over the top ecchi filled with more fanservice than plot just like Trinity Seven, but it ended up being a fairly good anime that has a lot of qualities that remind me of RWBY. I'm excited to see where this goes to say the least.
#4 - Parasyte: For those of you who have seen this, you know I do not have to justify this. For those of you who haven't seen this, what the fuck were you doing last season?
#3 - Saekano -How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend-: This show is amazing. The romance is done in just the right amount of doses, but it still allows the comedy to take the spotlight. This show is hilarious, and this is definitely my favourite of the new anime that have come out this year.
#2 - Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso: This is definitely one of the best romance anime I have seen. But this show isn't good due to its romance, it is good due to the absolute perfect amount of emotional conflict. Over the many arcs, this show has put its characters through some amazing emotional challenges, and the characters reaction are not over the top. Are you reading this Foundation? Good. Now watch this show, and Saekano as well.
#1 - Akastuki no Yona: If you ask me why I am putting this show in the #1 spot, I won't be able to tell you. This show is painfully generic and is as predictable as a small child making a choice between chocolate and broccoli, but nevertheless every Tuesday I am super pumped to see the latest episode of this show. It could be due to the comedy, or the subtle romance, but I feel, if anything, it is due to the likeable characters. I have no quarrel putting this in my top spot for this season, even if I don't know why.
So yah, that is my list for this season. I am glad to be watching only 8 shows, as the last season watching 15 shows almost burned me out. I would love to hear some people opinions, as it would be nice to start an actual discussion on here again. Now I've got my own list piling up on me - adding Yona, Kimi no Uso, and Saekano to my watch list.

I'm sure at least some of us will miss him, even though RWBY was not technically an anime.
Aside from that saddening news, I hope everyone has a good day. I'm going to go watch the latest episode of Akatsuki no Yona now. :O
RWBY should be praised - it was the closest thing to anime america has ever come. I hope people follow in his footsteps, but with a better plot, lol.

I actually enjoyed Kokoro connect, myself. I know plenty of others that have it on there top 10, the only reason it's not on mine is that 2 of the girls ruined it with over-exaggerated emo.
But it was nearly saved by the last girl who openly admits sexuality, lol. Love her <3

I completely understand; but, it is because of the first arc that Sword Art scored so highly. If the show had ended after the first arc, it would be at the top of my list, no questions asked. I don't think I have ever enjoyed any anime as much as I enjoyed that first arc, but it has been let down by the its other arcs. Everything on my list is, of course, subject to change, so it may not remain in 6th forever. i can respect that, god i just wish they'd kept the story in SAO for the whole season, they skipped 70 floors and still had another 25 to go, not to mention that there were another 8 unique blade skills that hadn't been seen yet, if they'd done that SAO might be one of my all time favourites. Get the VITA game, it continues SAO as if they never beat the guy, it's amazing.

I checked out this How to make a boring girlfriend show this season - Ice i believe recommended it.
It's great, from the character to the interesting color use in shades in the art work, there's a lot to enjoy here. Especially who the main heroine ends up really being, episode 0 is just great.
Can't wait for the new episode next week :3
And the dub to Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! is ... weird. The voices take a second to get used too - especially the guys, but they took consideration for the girls, who often sounded great, other times i could hear the comparison to the japanese VA and it felt lacking. Few shows sounded as good as Chuun, but it's not a terrible dub, over-all.

Isuca is more then just straight up ecchi - it's just like Testament Sister, it's just the cast supporting the leads aren't nearly as interesting or developed.
Which takes the pacing of the show and focus and makes it all feel like a repeat of a show we've seen already.
The only thing the show really offers, though, is the mix of Tsundere and Gore, lol. Damn a lot of people die in this show :D
Isuca tries to be like Toreador mistakenly, if Toreadora didn't have that FANTASTIC cast supporting it it would of fallen short. But putting the focus on two characters and using everyone else to develop them is a class romance strategy in anime.
Not many shows can make relationships engrossing like Spice and Wolf - and Isuca tries and fails.

Caught up on Log Horizon.
I get where you guys are coming from now - a lot of the shows interesting pace is finally taking a back seat to flesh out some characters internal strife believably.
Unfortunately they did so by tying two slow stories together.
They probably thought people would enjoy watching the loli purple hair girl learingn her Teaching - but it was tedious watching her anguish over a childish issue. And it's backed and then followed by slow pacing and lots of internal dialogue.
But to say the show has dropped for it is too much, Log Horizon in season 2 is basically telling us they're comfortable enough with the plot and characters that they can slow it down and start fleshing everything out.
as such, season 2 is much like season one of clannad, it's not going to wrap up anything but give you a ton more questions.
There's also something else I've noticed - animation quality dropped. When i went to go research I found out they actually had a bigger budget, but consistently I saw poorly drawn characters, especially in the later episodes.
I'm starting to think Log Horizon development team ran into issues, especially with how fast pace these later episodes are being.

There's also something else I've noticed - animation quality dropped. I saw consistently ugly scenes as if they just couldn't be bothered to draw a line straight. This is becoming noticeable more frequently in the later episodes, especially when the youngster started there travels. It was the stupid arc devoted to the kids that caused me to drop it. Personally, Akatsuki's arc where she was learning her Teaching was one of the better points of Log Horizon; I really enjoyed that bit. Everything after that was just boring as hell. I was the opposite, I was annoyed that she was less emotionally matured then a 13 y/o, then any of the 13 y/os in that show - she's just a walking child herself until her ark finished and she matured. But she's slowly starting to become less cute and more annoying to me. The way she's mimicking things she doesn't understand while trying to be cute is way over-playing her moe. Every time she kicks that Tank guy though I can't help but smile - that running gag is great :D
But that being said - the kids are more interesting then she is - especially the bard and blonde's relationship. Him being an NPC turned Adventurer with his insider knowledge of the world and his special relation and view point of the adventure gives him some incredible room to be an amazing character. Even with them playing him off as a dog/idiot, his moments are great.
And now the younger brother interacting with that blonde chick *I know who she is :P* was also great, learning his back story and how it all comes together for him an his emotions and logic - great.
My only complaint of the children is that the main girl from that group, whatever her name is, is surprisingly dull. Her relationship with the main guy and fogging things up for ninja girl also leaves me feeling a very cliche and obvious plot twist is coming. Never a good feeling to have about a dull character

amiright? Literally just watched the last episode. Idk sota, the fact that they explained what "Your lie in April" meant was decent enough for me. There are not many endings that I like when it comes to anime, but this one was pretty damn perfect. Sure, I kinda figured what was going to happen...but they did leave a few surprises for the end I didn't expect that makes me want to re-watch the whole thing now. That last line is something for me to consider, but imagine if Spice and Wolf ends with Holo dying? Really doesn't matter how they kill an amazing character, always sucks :(

I liked Kill la Kill just for that edgy go **** yourself cause I can do it without yo damn help cuz I OP attitude that fit in Gurren Laggan so well.
I've now put Ping Pong on my next to watch, I just want to keep watching Tokyo Raven's Dub....
It seems Funimation has a new Dub policy that both amazes and frustrates me.
It's amazing because as anime is released in japanese - it'll also be releases in english!!! Dubbing has now hit mainstream and is going x10 faster in process to get it out as quickly as possible.
Problem with this is.... Funimation's cast of voice actor is the most over-used bunch, CCP's models have probably seen less work around.
An example of this being a problem - Yona of the Dawn. One of the best shows in years, easily one of my favorites for fantastic VA work, amazing and captivating art, and interesting characters that continually makes you want to see more of all of them...
But the Dub, starting at episode 14 for some reason, tramples all over that. The VA they choose for Yona, a very talented english VA, had no ******* reason to be the heroine. The dub took Yona, the best character in the show, and made her hard to watch because when she speaks you want to throw rocks at her.
She was meant to sound cute and absent minded with a hint of budding maturity. The VA for English sounds more like an air-head who got off the wrong slave ship.
it's funny to say, though, Funimations dubbing of Tokyo Ravens is Fantastic. I'm just pissed that good VA companys like the ones in Canada get no work even though they have more talent. Funimations needs to understand they're ******* up the dubs by re-using the same VA's without even tuning there voice to even sound different.

There are some anime's that should never be dubbed.. Yona is a perfect anime all the characters are great. I loved Tokyo Ravens but I'm scared to watch the dub cuz it might ruin it for me.. Then there's some where the dub is better it's like a 50/50. Tokyo Raven's dub is one of the best out there - I'd recommend it, Blaze is going to be thrilled how good the dub turned out.
But, I was looking more forward to a good Yona of the Dawn Dub... and it's the worst thing ever :(

But, I was looking more forward to a good Yona of the Dawn Dub... and it's the worst thing ever :( So stay away from Yona...got it. There's gonna be a group orgy between the guys in Yona fyi. Though add some breasts and they'd all make cute girls even the thunder beast maybe. I don't even wanna know, lol.
Yona is shaping up to be in my top 5.

quick report on another dub Absolute Duo.
It's another one of the rushed Funimation dubbing - thankfully, this ones actually pretty well done. No where near as bad as Yona, but I doubt any show will make me cringe like Yona did after hearing the VA's.

I know that a character is good when you can't predict their acriosn, but their actions end up being exactly what they would do. That is a sign of good character design and growth. ...The lack of closure is devastating. It kills me that there isn't a third season, even though word is that the light novels were finished a long time ago. Why did they stop? Surely this show was/is fairly popular, so why didn't they finish the series? Third season is still in the air, the company who made the second season *The show got passed around for a while* spoke a bit on it saying they'd love to make a third season - but they need more fan support, which they have TONS of.
But they did something else - the person who crafted Spice and Wolf's character and stories did another anime - Maoyu.
It takes that fantastic setting, character design, atmosphere, and personalities that made Spice and Wolf so amazing - and throws in Hentai characters and plot.
It sounds aweful - I know, but they play down the ecchi side of the show so much it's not even noticeable besides a single pair of rather large breasts that for once - you can forget is there from time to time to just enjoy the character.
Even though the show is a combination of a hentai and fantasy world rolled into 1, it's equally as good as Spice and Wolf, if not better for a lot of people.

episode 1-2 Ping Pong The Animation:
lol, wtf. This shows animation couldn't be uglier. I'm the type that is grateful for beautiful anime art, shows like Clannad, Spice and Wolf, Tempest, and Bakemonotgari, looking at them is as wonderful as everything else.
However, even with the ugly animation the actual movement quality and camera angels are perfect. And the rough look lets the rough character seem all the more natural rather then forced like many other shows that have attempted to introduce a less then perfect looking characters.
It's like this show was also made from Shaft - so many subliminal messages in the art itself that tells as much if not more then the words expressed by the characters.
And as far as characters go - That chinese guy is cool xD
I'll be continuing with updates o/

Episode 3:
Show is beginning to pick up on the plot, which is really coming around.
The initial problem I had with the show is the introduction - it was so casual and with no explanations that you're left to just figure it out through conversations yourself.
But I see now there's a reason for that - it let's you subjectively develop the characters yourself on what you think of them, sort of like a first impression in real life.
They make you judge the main character, his friend, his team, and pretty much every character right off the bat by setting a bar of 'good vs bad' and 'motivated vs unmotivated'
At that point though, the show starts to falter, as the actual theme is so anime cliche that I don't know what to think of it.
Plot wise, this is a pretty predictable show, you can pretty much guess the next scene. But this may be due to how well they embellish the characters that you feel you know 'em well enough to know what comes next.
With Slice of Life shows like this one - that's actually not a bad way to go about things, you don't need an unpredictable plot to enjoy the show, ti all falls down to how well you execute the plot.
And so far Ping Pong executes very well.

I'm curious what you meant by this, mind clarifying? It's another tale of a rising Goku.
We have stories like these a-plenty in anime. A hidden bad-ass who doesn't like to brag - just enjoy. In the sports section of Anime this sort of story is especially used, a good example would be http://www.crunchyroll.com/kurokos-basketball, but rather then 'hidden' he's just quiet about it and doesn't brag as he wipes the floor with everyone.
I think the atmosphere of Ping Pong is going to mislead people into thinking there's something more going on here then there really is. But I hope i'm wrong - but so far, everyone besides the coach and the chinese player is one-dimensional.
The protagonist, he friend, their friends, the acquaintances, nothing is explained, mentioned, hinted to show that there's anything else but ping-pong in there head. And although it's enjoyable, I sorta expected more from a show you highly praised. EDIT: There was a hint of to as why the main guy wanted to be in ping pong in relation to looking up to his friend, but that was it, lol.
I'm a lil confused and happy about one thing Ping Pong does - introduces character, fleshes them out super fast, then let's go of them.
Do they come back? Were they just there because the director didn't have enough content to fill 23 minutes? This show is confusing sometimes, lol.
I do hope they come back, that guy who wanted to visit the sea seemed pretty cool xD

Finished!!!!
8.5/10
Would of scored 9 if I didn't find the show bloody painful to look at.
The shows pace is incredible. It starts off slow and rather bland - if you continued this show waiting week per week it was solely for the uniqueness the show brings - it offered nothing else.
The actual plot doesn't begin to shine till near the end, with a slow buzz building over everyones progress that will lead to a satisfying conclusion.
And that's the part that hook line and sunk me in the end - the ending. Nothing makes me happier then finishing a show and it feeling as if I had actually seen it all to the end and there was no more coming cause there is nothing else to say.
The twist at the end wrapped the whole show together beautiful, too. It made all the awkwardness of the main character make sense and it can be analyzed in many different ways.
To me, it was a reverse story. We think we know who the main character is - we don't. The shows plays itself magically, if you drop this show half way it'll seem like the biggest waste of time, next to trash like Girls Bravo *Though I still liked it, lol*
You have to see this show all the way through, do not stop half way, otherwise you will miss out on what makes Ping Pong special.
Also, the three coaches who are all childhood friends - if they ever make a show telling us about there past I'd watch it, I have a feeling that lady would carry the show much like Holo.
Oh, one last thing - the OP and ending music is great. Reminds me of FLCL's music.

I'm finishing up a lot of shows this season too, and so far my ratings are as such:
Boring Girlfriend Yona Absolute Duo World Trigger Testament of Sister Devil Dog Days S3 Kancolle
I have yet to see the new Idol Master, which I'm told will easily be competing with how good the original Idol Master was, which will probably put it in third above Absolute Duo.
As far as why my rankings are this way - Boring Girlfriend just tickled me in a special way, it's not particularly better then Yona as far as Plot, Character, and Design goes, but the genre and set-up of the show was to my great enjoyment.
And Yona - damn good show. She doesn't get one Goku - but 4! And a mini Sima Yi. Usually the concept of Goku's in my show throws up red flags left and right, plot becomes unbearably predictable. But the guidance of the show was directed by the interactions with Yona. And Yona herself is absolutely amazing, sitting next to Holo as one of the best characters of all time.
Absolute Duo is just a fun watch with enjoyable characters, its a bit too centered on the school and absolute duo system, creating a very one sided story telling that more intellectual watchers will be turned off by eventually, another show that suffers from this is Fafner.
Testament - honestly, should of ranked this higher then Absolute Duo, but the amount of Ecchi that supports the plot is sometimes over-the-top.... which isn't always a bad thing :3 great story, enjoyable enough characters, and has a great style of revealing twists that the watchers didn't know - but the hero did. I'd recommend this show, honestly, lol.
Dog Days S3 - <3 <3 <3 <3 Need I say more? The level of Moe in this show is off the charts and they know how to make it enjoyable the whole time, ecchi levels are low, but it's there.
Kancolle - Poi! Poi, poi poi poi, poi! Poi POI! Translated - shows just kinda sucks. It can't decide if it wants to be serious or moe, and it can't remain consistent on action scenes. It's still a good watch simply because the characters are enjoyable to look at - there personalities are a dime a dozen, some flat annoying, and the ones who are special get very little screen time.
Shows a wreck, it is cool how the play off the player-admiral and his relation with the girls, but it's relying on it's charm rather then story to keep it interesting.

It's also a great site for organizing your anime and finding new ones while doing so, beats myanimelist by miles, imo.
I'm on episode 10 rolling girls, it's not a terrible show, it's like Dynasty Warriors in a way, my problem with it is the progression is complete **** from one story to another, feels way too scripted and not fluent like some old anime.
wll start maria soon, my brother caught up/finished it and he enjoyed it.
Just picked up White Knight Chronicles II and will be attempting to beat this w/o the online :'(
Also started Idol Master Cinderella Girls, it's what people told me it was - it has even better animation then the previous season, which was already pretty strong. Interesting cast, but some seem a bit too diverse and out there, thus unbelievable.
I also hate that third girls personalty type with all my heart - strength on the outside, weakness in the inside, and is far too out-going for being that way. Just kinda irks me.

oh, and I never clarified on Ping-Pong.
It's not a Goku type show I was expecting, it was a bit of a mind-tweaser how it fooled me with obvious story ploys then played them out in a completely different way in the end, bringing out the main two characters in a fantastic way. Everyone thought they knew each other better then they thought they knew themselves, and they let it effect them.
Still ugly as ****, the only females more comedic reliefs, and they baited you with interesting side characters like that weird haired player at the school the glasses guys went too - the show showed his life a few times, even his work, then kinda left it dry.
over-all, glad I watched Ping Pong. But it's not making my top 10, lol.

So heart warming, touching, moving, and inspiring. It's so well written, even the Dub is well done enough to convey the strong emotional messages this show just shoots in every direction.
Few shows have ever been so deep. Makes me want to go back to the classics of anime Romance, so far the current stuff hasn't compared to it in terms of story telling.
Shows like: http://www.animehere.com/anime/bokura-ga-ita.html http://www.animehere.com/anime/da-capo.html http://www.animehere.com/anime/aishiteruze-baby.html http://www.animehere.com/anime/hatsukoi-limited.html http://www.animehere.com/anime/is-pure.html http://www.animehere.com/anime/itazura-na-kiss.html http://www.animehere.com/anime/kare-kano.html http://www.animehere.com/anime/nana.html http://www.animehere.com/anime/touch.html

On episode 5 of Idol Masters: Cinderella
adorable. The first Idol Master was incredibly enjoyable because of the characters carried the terrible story, this show is almost the opposite. But it keeps one thing that made the first cast so likable - character designs and gorgeous animation.
But this show has many more faults then the original as far as how they've introduced and decided on how everyone gets a long. The chemistry in the first show was spontaneous with a cool atmosphere, you knew if things got too out of hand from the many out-going girls there were 4-5 seriously cool characters to deal with it, so things were always brought about in away a mature viewer can enjoy.
This show has 3 cool characters, all of which want only friendly interactions with the others. So when the girls get out of hand - no one is there to control them. Which leaves it to the unconfident girls who know better to try and resort the messes.
Luckily it all works out still somehow in reasonable fashion, mostly due to the 'manager' who comes off as a weak/boring character, but is showing so many signs of more that he's becoming a lot more interesting.
Over-all, I'm enjoying the show because the dancing is beautiful, character design is great, and the show actually is enjoyable. It's just not the great experience Idol Masters originally was so far, but it took that show about half a season to pick up into something good.

Crunchyroll fires back by getting a show I was looking forward too this season - My Love Story.
With Crunchyroll already claiming rights to Plastic Memories, Romance Comedy S2 (Another big one), FSN S2, and now this, it seems Funimation success last season in picking up the majority of interesting titles has been put to an early halt.
Crunchyroll is taking this season by storm so far. Everyone seems to forget that Funimation picked up Blood Blockade Battlefront aka Kekkai Sensen. By far the most interesting show thats aired this season. forget? I don't even know what show that is, lol. Plastic Memories or w/e is the only show I heard hype about outside of continuations. I keep posting the PVs of Kekkai ;-; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jIMtTXUfuAImpressions on the first episode is that it's very much an action shounen, beautifully animated, and set in a really cool "Supernatural New York" where people are walking alongside monsters and aliens alike. Hard to say how it's going to ultimately progress (not many people are sold on the source material) but the staff behind this one alone is enough justification for people to check it out. Combination of Studio Bones and the Kyousougiga director make for an extremely pleasing visual experience with some beautiful background art. And the animation in the first episode alone is damn near breathtaking. Oooh, so this is that show.
It looks fantastic from your link, shows like these I'll probably hop on right away :D
I've been doing reviews lately episode by episode, so I'm going to go against my habit of waiting till the show ends and start all the shows this season to discuss it all with you guys :D
But right now I need to finish an oldie named Magikano. It's nothing like any other anime so far with how often these cute girls cuss and act unfeminine while being feminine. So nutty I can't help but enjoy it.

The director is quite talented in orechestraing our emotions to jump around too, that bathroom bit and the comedic bit at the very end changing the scenes tone in an instant without missing a beat really makes the show great.

The witches show was actually showed as a manga first on crunchy roll.
When they first launched the service I checked it out and that was the manga I picked - it's pretty good.
But, alas, I just got Akiba: Undead and Undressed. I tried it on PS3 and gave up very early because of some very noticeable flaws, such as how obvious PS3 couldn't handle the games performance in rendering anything. It's no wonder the city was cut up into so many different parts.
But the PS4 handles it beautiful - giving a much more satisfying and Akiba experience. Never touch the PS3 version. It just can't handle the game.

Mine runs great I've had no issues, though I'd rather be taking girls clothes off on a 50+ inch screen It's the city itself that makes the difference - on the PS3 - everyone would basically spawn in with you then populate the area - it really reminded you you were playing a game - and the way the city is divided up does a good enough job ruining any chance of being engulfed in the narrative which is already pretty poorly done, even for a visual novel.
But the PS4 it's just the way the game is intended, which really helps with the millions side quests making you do tons of different things rather then the same thing over and over.
fun game - but I just bought GTAV with that 1.25mil shark card - <3

lol Foundation.
I saw this coming if you hadn't seen the show - you're having the exact same problems I did when the show first aired. And you're getting the responses I did because of the source material, "It'll get better! Pinky won't grind your nerves, the main guy won't be a waste of flesh given life, and the strange mix of dark reality vs school day reality will blend well eventually!!!!!!!!!"
It never does, it doesn't even try thank god. If it had I would of been pissed, because the 'realities' of some of the cast would never been understood by ANY degree by ******* HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. REGARDLESS OF PAST DRAMA.
As the MC is the most typical anime hero - he just oozes plz kill me now.
But, they're right, it does get better. But only if you look past the setting. If you can't look past that the setting is half-assed done, then the show will go on a down-word spiral of stupidity, as it sets itself up to get grander and grander as the twists and turns become more and more unexpected.
Eventually though, you catch the pattern of how this show is 'unexpected' - so be wary of over-thinking this show, you'll ruin it for yourself.
This isn't Madoka Magica whose discussions can go on for hours on what things mean - Future Dairies just sorta tales a tell in a great way.

I'd HIGHLY recommend Welcome to the NHK as a great romance with many more elements for added insanity and pleasure.
otherwise check out:
Devil is a part timer (7/10)
Magi (9/10)
Gurren Lagann (10/10)
Vampire Knight (8.5/10)
I gave Vampire higher score then Devil because Vampire's romance really shined in comparison to the over tsundere found in Devil.

What initially gives a viewer the impression of your by the books harem comedy with a deadpan protagonist turns into something decidedly more interesting halfway into the first episode. It's two parts a really fluffy, enjoyable show with a likable cast of characters that you can turn your brain off to and, seemingly out of no where, becomes a really ******* well executed battle anime too. If you have a high tolerance for cute (I'm looking at you, Kancolle fans) and want something with production values that literally come out of no where, don't let this one pass you by. Also Ep. 3 is The hell is that?

Anyone else here watched it? You didn't mention the name, but I think I know exactly what you're talking about. Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo? When I tried this show, several times, in the past, I couldn't stomach it past episode 2. though I hunger for college setting anime like this one - Super Sonico has a bit of a reputation.
And the first few episodes play it off pretty strongly - but where in the Sub she didn't appeal to me, the Dub she does. Weird.

Favorite part being the realistic proportions of the girls. You referring to how Super Sonico is of a thicker build then most anime girls?
It puts me off sometimes looking at her that she's built like a black woman, but then again... idk. Right now I'm loving it.
The voice they choose for her and the black hair girl really go well with there characters, especially Sonico. And the Manager - he's way too awesome.
But that third girl they used that english VA who I swear to god is in every dubbed anime ever. She's in every damn dub. Kinda sick of her, though sometimes she's absolutely amazing. But sometimes, like Yona of the Dawn, she's the worst thing ever.

Anime Empire will be planning events for Faction Warfare.
Using our channel as base of operations, we will be choosing a faction for a weekend to represent and fight for.
Using This to track the FW districts, we will set a reward for districts flips.
During the event - make sure to write down which district you're fighting for. Defenders it doesn't matter so much, but we will have a special reward at the end of the weekend if our efforts pushes the opposing faction to the brink. So don't abandon too many defense games, or else the opposing faction will just replace what they lose and no reward will be given at the end of the weekend.
At the end of your match if the district is flip report it to SoTa PoP with the district name and number, I will then track it through Doltan to make sure the flip did occur, and a reward will be given out.
Rewards range from ISK to Officer Weapons/Suits
Any suggestions?

Super Sonico:
An anime in a college setting, following one of the most popular characters in japan, a woman whose name is literally Super Sonico. It's a show of black woman who look asian living in japan acting Japanese and playing music while living the college life.
And it's about as typical as anime comes, nothing special to see here outside the characters themselves and fan service.
But I must admit - I went from thinking Sonico one of the worst females of all time to completely changing my opinion, she's definitely charming - but I don't see the massive appeal the Japanese have for her.
Plot: 5/10 - was just plainly BAD. Or rather, there is no plot, just Super Sonico living her supposedly tough life. Which Irks me about this show - iSuper Soncio is a plain IDIOT who gets away with it because she has a great smile - and admittedly, personality.
It took me out of the show as it did with other anime when you see an unrealistic character get into real settings and solve them in an unrealistic way, or rather, isn't capable of solving it and lets someone else do it as they act like a bimbo.
The plot never cares to do anything but introduced Super Sonico to a new audience, so I guess they weren't expecting to amaze you to begin with.
Characters: 7/10: The manager is so damn cool. If he got his own show bringing idols together and molding them into something, like give him his own Idol Master Show - I might get addicted to it. He's that cool to watch, and he's thoroughly explained. You can tell the staff making this show enjoyed him a lot too, as he gets much more screen time then he honestly should for his role.
The two best friends: Blacky and browny - one sucks, the other rocks. Blacky revives a lot of the dumb qualities in this show by being a strong character herself with good convictions to follow. But the other girls - all she does is eat, and that is quite literally it. IF there's something more to her outside of banging sticks to drums, they never once showed it.
And the rest of the cast is SO bad I'm going to not mention them outside the owner of the Cafe - purple twin-ponnytail girl - she's cool :)
Music: 6/10 ... isn't this what this show was meant to be known for? I'm into Miku, Rin, Luka, IA, and all the vocoloids, but there music tends to be easy for anyone to listen too and not come off as too j-poppy. Super Sonico has nothing but J-pop, so, like her character, her music is one-diminensioal.
And since there's no dramatic moments or anything for the music to help build up - it's hard to rate wether or not the songs did anything well outside of set the tone the show was looking for.
Voice Acting *Sub Dub*: The Dub was so much easier to go through then the Sub. Sonico's Sub VA doesn't bring out her appeal in an enjoyable way like the Dub VA did. Kind of shocked, and the rest of the cast were equally well voiced acted - but you'll recognize the voices too strongly from other characters and it will take you out of the experience for it. Dub VA's need to stop reusing the same voices over and over.
over-all: 6. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but Slice of Life lovers. It's not funny, romantic, interesting, or all that good - but it is still an enjoyable watch.
And it's about damn time someone drew anime characters outside the normal thin and frail. These girls look like they ate a ton of cookies growing up, lol.

Fairy Tail has been moved up to second most favorite, originally not even ranked.

It's surprisingly good, especially if you are a fan of the music (like I am)
The only disappointing thing is how long it takes to unlock new songs (it is a F2P model), but it does offer daily downloadable tracks, and of course it has a surplus of cute anime girls to rank up and "idolize"
Compared to every other rhythm game app that I've tried, this is the only one that works well ipad?

And to start off the topic conversation: http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2015/05/09-1/preliminary-summer-2015-anime-chart
Last season, like someone else said, was total crap. But this season completely made up for it - and check out next season's line up - that is amazing. So many returning awesome shows, and about 5 awesome new looking ones.
A total of over 10 shows i have my eye on next season, compared to 3 from last and 6 from this season.
This season is GODLY, though. SANFU is on my top ten, i just can't decide WHERE in my top 10 it belongs.

Kail Mako wrote:Kyokai No Konata, (Beyond the Boundary): A story of boy meets girl. Girl stabs boy. Boy turns out to be an immortal half-youmu, (basically a half-demon. Actually, youmu are very similar to the witches from Madoka Magica. They're born of negative human emotion like hate, and regret, then try to kill/posses humans). Girl turns out of be a Spirit World Warrior, (basically, a youmu hunter). The last one of her clan too.
This one was absolutely beautiful. Where to start? The visuals. Normally I save this for later, but the animation, and the artwork was stellar. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best looking anime I've ever seen. I adored the palette they used, and the art was while looking clean, a style you could definitely tell was hand-drawn due to the darker lines here and there. Actually, just go watch a clip of it. You'll see what I'm talking about.
Every character was a delight too. Akihito Kanbara, the MC, was hilarious as a protagonist with his glasses fetish. While being fairly standard in most other ways he did everything right to be likable in my book. Mirai Kuriyama, the main female, and some could even argue the true MC. She is adorable. With, or without her glasses. Klutzy, a little oblivious, and can be a little dumb, but she's just so cute, with her verbal ticks. The romance between the two of them develops nicely. However, despite it being mostly lighthearted interactions, and badass action both characters do carry their share of serious baggage which helps to flesh them out even further.
Mitsuki Nase, the secondary female, and a childhood friend of Akihito. She enjoys teasing her brother, and the MC. I don't wanna say she's tsundere, because she doesn't fit the standard image of that, but she is pretty tsun, with maybe just a little bit of dere thrown in. Hiromi Nase, Mitsuki's older brother. This guy is absolutely hilarious. Not through dialogue, but through action. He's a siscon. 'Nuff said. After the main four there's still a cast of interesting, and fun side characters that I haven't even mentioned yet.
The music was appealing as well. The OP was absolutely beautiful starting off slow, and picking up speed, then ending once again on a slow note. It felt sad, and beautiful at the same time. The ED was also extrememly well done. It's not often that I think a show has a good ED and OP, but this one managed it. Of course, both have the stunning visuals that were mentioned before.
The story. This is where it sort of falls apart a little. It felt a little too fast paced, and could end up being very confusing. Plus, some of the character motivations weren't quite so clear. The ending also features a huge ass-pull, that makes you go "wut?" That is, until I stopped to think about it. Then the ending seems like genius. They gave themselves an out, and used it to the fullest extent. Despite all of this, the story is still solid, just not as amazing as the rest of the show.
Overall, a very good watch that I would recommend to absolutely everyone. A perfect blend of slice-of-life, action, comedy, and romance. Stunning visuals, and some of the most likable characters I've seen in a long time. While the story faulters a little bit, it's not enough to bring the anime that far down. Also, episode 6. Heh.
you are spot on with several of your descriptions, especially plot pacing. The show should of been a lot more popular.

The best Tales game is still Tales of Symphonia. Then again, that's the only one I've ever played. Just thought I'd put out there that I beat it lol. Anyway, I still have a PS3. Since both the PS3, and the PS4 use the PSN, I'm fairly certain we should be able to connect over that. I mean, I do have you on my friends list. Though, something that's interesting is that it doesn't alert me to when you're online. I don't know if the same is true for you, but if you ever notice I'm on go ahead and message me, and we'll see if we can set up a chatroom. Fallout 4? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woLIdoZ03B4 As a person whose played them all since PS1 - Tales of Symphonia was probably the second worst for gameplay, and fourth best for story.
First for gameplay goes to Tales of Grace F, which is last on story
And for best story Tales of Abyss.
Tales games have a lot going for 'em, and this ones no exception <3

I need to watch that again since I hardly remember anything about it. Cowboy Bebop? More like Cowboy Snorebop. I was so bored whenever I tried to watch it. Then again, I was also like, 12. Maybe I should give it another go, because me anything past 2 weeks ago was an idiot. I'll be saying the same thing in another 2 weeks. Also, I think we need to classify "best" anime, but instead of just spouting a "top ten" list, we do it for categories. Like: Best Animation: Best Art: Best Characters: Best ED: Best OP: Best Score: Best Story: Best Tone: Or even break it into genres: Best Action: Best Comedy: Best Ecchi: Best Horror: Best Mystery: Best Slice-of-Life: For the next month I will be doing nothing but working on this. The problem I'm running into with reviews isn't actually making the review *Got some good content for To Luv Ru I think you guys will find funny* but more so how to bring it all together and introduce it.

Speed Grapher was that show with a demonic camera blowing **** up, right?
I got half way before getting bored then completely forgot about it.
Legend of the Legendary Heroes is also one of my secret favorite shows next to Problem Children are coming from another world, aren't they?! Elfen Lied was terrible. The manga was much better. Sir, I respect your opinion, it's as valued to me the same as a professionals about there field of work *As is the rest of you*
But on Elfen Lied I must disagree, while I understand your point of view without you even having to tell me, there's plenty wrong with the show, from times of poor pacing *Pretty much every scene including the amputeed loli* to some of the most inconsistent animation and frames. Not to mention the lack of motivation, setting, and any real character development that wasn't left for the most dramatic bits.
It was still a show that, at its time, was mind blowing. And for what it did to my childhood, having the same impact on it as Pokemon or Reading Rainbow, I loved it.
Cute girls being massacred for no reason - why don't we get more of this?

I was thinking of expanding the lists a bit, instead of 'top', doing the entire genre
as for 'best animation' etc, that'll likely be done either via season or year released.

And here's Anime Planet's Steins;Gate is so high up there Did I miss something with that show? Not saying it's bad or anything (tu-tu-ruuuuuuu) but maybe I need to go back and watch it again. Also, One Punch Man skyrocketed to the top already. Though I'm guessing that once it's made more widely available (through more streaming services) there will be more haters I found it to be well deserving, and the Dub was pretty well done itself, even without the cute moments the jap VA's really brought out.

135 shows is a bit much to find a clip for each of them and expect my hard drive to keep up. Luckily I have a video converter for Youtube so I can just pick and choose which YT video with the scene I want to save space.
That being said, my format will be informative. The list will start at the bottom, and will explain why this show and the shows around it got this score, then after showing 20-30 more shows, explain why again quality improved using a show as an example.

(This is, ofc, me just musing more ideas as I put this list together) You... You have local anime stores? Please, let me move in with you! You can bet that I have basically nowhere to get my hands on anime stuff. Unless I want to buy stuff at Hot Topic, or weirdly enough, Barnes & Noble. Oh, and as for that list of 130 romance anime? I'm ashamed to say that at most I've only seen like 30 of those. Actually, lemme make a list real quick. 350 a month, you either clean or pay for the food, lol.
There's 3 anime stores close by me, Nine Tails who caters to DBZ/Hello Kitty fans, as well as some moe merchandise from K-on, My Little Sister Can't be this cute, and Miku Hatsune.
The next one is called Oppai, this is my favorite store, it has everything, including ecchi hug pillows. I buy most my stuff from this place, and want to work closely with the owner, he's a real relaxed guy who wants friends as much as customers in his business.
The third is called Otaku Cafe, a place where Otaku's go to chill, watch what's on there big screen, and play there Japense Arcade. They hold weekly to monthly tournaments for Gundam and other JRPG games.

This store is way too far from me, though. Across the city. The other anime stores are much much closer.
and yes, I buy all my Chocolate Pokey from Otaku Cafe - it's not only delicious, but healthier then other candy, lol.

Digimon new movie released on CR as a 4 part episode, 23 min each, making the entire watch roughly an hour and a half.
So you might ask yourself, does it live up to the hype? Well, that depends, each hype was different for each person, all connected by our childhood bias view.
To me, this movie nailed it, so far. The cast has grown up believably, and with all there lovable quirks still intact. But one line really hits home on what makes his Digimon so special compared to the countless other releases, spoken by our MC, Taichii, the leader of our group. "I'm not what I was, I see more and understand less."
This is the growth I have always wanted when l look back at shows like Pokemon, Yugioh, and other shows that I grew up too - if there characters had grown up with me and my problems, I probably would of related to them a lot closer like I did with a show like Boy Meets World.
And in this movie Digimon does grow up, if a little too late, I'm not a teenager... I'm an adult. damnit. But it doesn't take away from anything, I've always wanted to see some of the shows I grew up too, grow up. And finally Digimon has done it.
It even manages to bring in an entirely new element to Digimon - transporting the digimon in a way other then storing them in Digivices for convent use. They can now surf the web and just pop out and in any screen connected to the webb. It also expands upon there relationship, opening up new doors of romantic interest and even break aparts.
The entire transition to teenagers from children is even further magnified by how not changed the original digimon are. From the antics to there own quirks, they are exactly as I remember them, I often heard there Dub voices over the sub ones out of fondness.
The show does finally slip up at the end, though. Creating fake tension in-between fabricated set-ups. Unless you're willing to accept that Yamato completely lied to Taichii in order to get him to fight. It's nice Digimon is adding to the realism by giving note to the damage done around them, but at no point in any of the scenes with the 'infected' digimon did they ever wildly do anything until provoked. We, or anyone else, has no reason to believe the infected Digimon are doing really anything, in fact, the show itself says they've caused no damage up until the point our cast arrives to blow **** up.
It's the only point of the show I made an awkward face, and I want to ignore it, but it's kinda a huge part of the story, lol.

And as awesome as having anime stores sounds - when they cater to mainstream mainly, it often has the opposite effect.

you could sign it off as her just being too socially awkward and shy, but the show doesn't really build up anything to give meaning to it, it's just drama to move the story forward without really fleshing out her feelings. Moments of glazed eyes staring longingly only shows so much when the show is littered with her being unlikable as a female.
And I did cringe when she cut her hair. She was much better looking at a long hair, but I did like the scene/episode involving her cutting it off.
I sincerely wish they'd finish this show with a movie or 3 part OVA like Oriemo got.

Seiko's Life:
My first impressions were pretty bad, The main MC may as well be Nagato from Hurahi Susimya, just more interesting and less idiotic, sometimes. I loath her, honestly. The character type in of itself bothers me. Way too innocent to be real, way too fragile to exist, and way too inexperienced about everything to accept she's even a real person. Out of every character type, this one is the only one I think is honestly just plain bad.
That being said, I liked this *****, lol. She grows on you, not because she herself is really anything, but because you enjoy how everyone else is looking out for her, each for there own reasons. And there's a lot of side cast here, almost every episode introduces some new big VA in the industry. It's actually pretty cool learning about how Dubbing and VA recording works.
The side cast also really brings heart to the show and the main cast, you'll have to see it yourself to really understand, but I pretty much enjoyed every character and there experiences in life.
Not that the show doesn't have it's down-sides, some of THE most inconsistent animation, who did the editing to this show? Holy ****, there were scenes, entire 2-5 minute scenes, completly re-used in a way I haven't seen since the 90's when anime cut production cost. There's even scenes where hair styles change, outfits don't match up scene to scene, and other little bits of mess ups that's almost consistent in every episode.
But the art itself is great, the girls are KAWAI!!!!!!!! x10000 Enough so I forgave the ****** animation, re-used scenes, and the obvious rushed scenes.
The plot itself is about the MC going from newbie VA, to less then newbie VA! Which, honestly, kinda sucks. It's just stress after stress, and though they cleverly involve it in her character growth, it often frustrates you that she can't figure out her own issues.
But that gives all the experienced VA cast time to shine and show there appeal, which i'm almost certain is why the MC is as bad as she is. Because the two girls working with her, are very charming. Especially near the end when the girls really start getting comfortable around each other. There are some good moments, here.
But the good moments are far in-between, you'll either be watching this show for the same reasons you watched Idol Master *Cute girls whoooooo!* or you'll watch it just to get to know the anime industry better.
Either way, this show has some elements going for it, but it's low production value is too noticeable in comparison to almost any other anime being released.
I did enjoy the Hayate the Combat Butler references, though. Apparently, that show is a lot bigger in Japan then I thought, lol.
Over-all, I would pass on this one if you're looking for a good story, this is cute girls doing cute things with something to learn about voice acting in-between. It's more informative the entertaining, but you'll likely get attached to one of the girls, as I did.

Comic Lucifer:
5 episodes in before I got deathly sick. But i wanted to talk about this show for a second.
Someone else in here said they'd been following the manga and were disappointed by the anime thus far.
These kind of statements always get me thinking, does manga really capture drama and suspense better? Fast answer: no. Seeing it for yourself is far more captivating.
And for that, i have to feel bad for you. Comic Lucifer is actually a pretty good show. The only element that is knocking me off course, well, 2 really, is the loli girl herself and everyones care-free handling of her and the lack of thought to her situation *She came from a crystal and has magic powers, but let's ignore that and go build a house...*
and the second part is the pacing. 3 episodes in - it already feels like fillers. Unnecessary development and scenes. The computer hacker guy is a prime case, did we really need an entire episode showing how mentally ****** up he is? What should of been a fun episode of him ******* up the city while finding his madmosiolle, is instead a questionable moment in the shows setting. Is the rest of the world really so incompetent and dumb that a random guy on a random system can hack your entire city?
Wish they played it off better, gave more flesh to the pedestrians and city view of things, help flesh out the world around them. The exposition at the start helped very little in understanding the people in this world, and the show seems intent to only show those moments through small side casts. Sloppy.
Other then this, I actually really enjoy this show, and it has potential to be the best show this season.
