Finally got around to watching Golden Time.
It was great all the way up until episode 13...and the new OP played https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiG1_gsjIDg
The show had a happy ending, yet the intro makes the whole show super depressing from that point on and I still can't get over it.

Looking at the calendar, I realized spring is only a few weeks away. That being said, I think it is time for me to drop my mid-season review for all the shows in Winter 2015. Also, I'm bored and feel like writing some small paragraphs, and if I can spark discussion then all the better. I go from worst to best.
8. Log Horizon: Honestly, I dropped this show out of sheer boredom. Nothing else needs to be said about this disappointment.
7. World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman: Speaking of disappointments, this show has been full of them. It started off so well; there was no over-the-top ecchi, characters looked well designed, and the plot had potential. However, this show has drastically reduced itself to a puddle of stupidity. The ecchi still isn't too prevalent, but there are some characters who seem to fill that gap. The characters that aren't practically rapists are all pretty shallow and poorly designed, with the exception of two. Also, the plot is bad, way too quick, and the enemies are just plain silly. I had high hopes for this show, but I will learn from this and not allow my naivet+¬ to get the better of me.
6. Kantai Collection: I was tempted to put this above Naruto Shippuden, however feel Naruto is just slightly better than this. Unlike World Break, I came into this show because I knew it was going to be a joke. Of course, this show is still a joke, but have been enjoying it far more than I previously expected. Entertaining characters, great animation, and actually entertaining fight scenes make this show somewhat satisfying even though the plot and conflict are both just abysmal.
5. Naruto Shippuden: This show really hasn't changed over the past few seasons. It is by no means amazing, but I wouldn't say that it isn't good.
4. Parasyte: This show has definitely degraded since it started. However, it is by no means a bad. In fact, I think it is still pretty amazing. The conflict is still good, the main characters are both likeable, and the romance isn't too terrible either. My only true qualm with this show is that I would like the intro theme to change, but that isn't really a problem.
3. Akatsuki no Yona: For those of you who remember, this show was number one on my list at the beginning of this season. The show hasn't really changed; it is still amazing. The only reason it has dropped is because the two shows that come next both have improved a lot over the course of this season.
2. Saekano -How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend-: This show pulled the rug out from under me. I fell in love with this show because of its comedy. I was expecting something exactly like Gekken Shoujo Nozaki-kun, where the romance was there but it wasn't satisfying. Unexpectedly, the romance is absolutely perfect in this show, and coming from a person who hates harem that is high praise. Honestly, if the main character ended up with any of the three girls I would be happy, but I will still be pleased if he doesn't end up with any. Don't get me wrong, the comedy is still strong with this one, but the romance has picked up severely.
1. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso: Now for a show that has pulled an opposite change when compared to Saekano. The romance was what I was watching the show for, but the drama has definitely put this show on top. It is rare for me to watch a Slice of Life for its conflict, but this show has worked wonders. Naturally the romance in this show is still great, but it is no longer the thing that makes this show great. As a side note, Arima Kousei x Nagi Aiza is now best ship. Anyone who disagrees will be burned at the stake while soft violin music plays.
Anyway, that is all for my mid season review. Maybe if I get bored later I will do a post on my top 15 anime, as that list has changed a bit since I posted my top 10.
Hopefully we can get some real discussion in here. Peace out all, Glantix / Ice.

I find myself often fast forwarding through the Saviors anime you mention. It has lately kind of dropped the ball. How to raise a boring girlfriend keeps delivering weekly. Unlimited Fafnir has become kind of meh but is still ok. Kancolle is must see anime. Earth Defense Force is just a bunch of dudes, so I am not watching that crap
For the short ones, there is a new one about some Psychologist and some crazy nurse talking about mental conditions. It is short but it is very funny.

Seriously though, the best shows airing this season are on the Funimation side.
So I've finally found the time to catch up on Death Parade and Maria the Virgin Witch recently and man, I've come away seriously enjoying both. I have some reservations about Maria due mainly to the recent direction of the plot but I'll hold off on those until I've seen how it develops.
Death Parade -
God, this show is so ******* cool. There's an overall atmosphere to the thing that I feel like is really well done at times, it's able to use its warm color scheme and smooth, mellow soundtrack to capture perfectly the essence of that stereotypical uptown jazz bar feel. This being done particularly well in the bowling episode. But really what's impressed me the most is the author finding so many ways to keep this formula fresh. He's crafted a world and basic premise for the show that flexible enough to avoid stagnation while being able to drop little nuggets of information that imply the progression of a larger overarching plot. But it's that juggling between the scenarios of the different contestants, the methodology of each week's "game", as well as the slight "behind the scenes" looks into the arbiters and their own distinct personalities that has been the real highlight of the show up until this point. I almost feel like the first couple episodes do the show a serious disservice as they imply a much more melodramatic or gruesome tone to a series that's really gone out of its way to dispel those preconceived notions.
It's a hell of a lot of fun. It also has the best OP of the season
Maria the Virgin Witch -
Charming would be the word to describe this one. A thoroughly enjoyable cast of characters lead by the two parts hilariously powerful and painfully naive young witch, Maria, as she tries to end war in her small little corner of the world. I was shakey at its use of some questionable sexual humor in the first few episodes but I'm glad to see that its shed off that side when it started to get into the real meat of the show. And the "meat" here has definitely found a way to hook me, its really done a nice job of exploring the dynamic between a Church that denounces the activities of the witches as blasphemous, the witches who have to deal not only with the church but the consequences of their larger intervention with human affairs, and the denizens of heaven who stand as dutiful watchers of the whole of human suffering. All of this being contained within a fantasy medieval setting that's just, well, seriously charming.
Really hoping it doesn't fumble the progression of events in the next few episodes, like I said, I have some reservations about its more recent direction ...
Now to catch up on Magical Boys, finish Dennou Coil, and write some words about the painfully under appreciated (here at least) LESBIAN BEAR STORM.

Hahahaha. Man, if there's one thing that I probably hate the most about Parasyte it's its hamfisted "romance" subplot. Every female protagonist in the show has been written to have the intelligence of a bucket of rocks and if they're not rushing head on into their own doom they're a broken record of "You've changed Shinichi!!! :( :( :(". Like man, do not get me started on how main female protag. consistently ignores the fact that Shinichi is now able to jump out of 3 story windows while carrying another person and just goes on to ***** about Shinichi's lack of tears and not being included instead. Christ. Its DEFINITELY degraded since its first half.

Death Parade's opening is catchy, and it is pretty good, but it is definitely not the best opening this season.
Let me list off the better openings of this season.
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso Opening 2: Nanairo Symphony by Coala Mode
KanColle Opening 1: Miiro by Akino from bless4
Saekano Opening 1: Kimiiro Signal by Luna Haruna
That is only openings. (Hopefully the songs are right, I'm at school so I cannot listen to the videos right now.) Let's look at endings now, as these endings are better than every song I mentioned combined.
Shigatsu wa kimi no Uso Ending 1: Orange by 7!!
KanColle Ending 1: Fubuki by Shiena Nishizawa
So yah. I would type more but I'm out of time. See ya all.

It's difficult for me to find anything salvageable about the romance in Parasyte. In the best of cases and during the first half of the show the interaction between Murano and Shinichi represented the dichotomy between the normal life he was leaving behind and the more dangerous adventure awaiting him but the author's done next to nothing since to develop the female characters involved since the incident at the school. Now they're relegated to time sinks, episode padding to break up the moments where Shinichi is actually doing something to progress the overall plot. Broken records spouting the same tropes one after another in order to create additional drama in a show that was doing far better focusing on the threat of the Parasyte's and their continued interactions with human society.
