Yea. I don't like english VA but there are some good ones, like DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, the first Digimon A.K.A Digimon Adventure except for Mimi, never did liked her voice and have to hand it off to Pokemon, they did an all right job with the English dubs. I need to start to watch more anime, I am so far behind on my list. I recently finished with SAO and to be honest, I didn't enjoy that anime too much hype and the ending was so...handed out.

Beserker is amazing and recommended to any who hasn't watched - but be warned it's unfinished but there may be plans to fix that soon.

And School Days is ... a must watch for anime fans. Just don't throw your keyboard into your screen Lol

did you watch all the credits? the ending is bittersweet if you do. gundam 00 started a tradition that I have kept through ever series since that I watch the full opening and credits of the first and last episode in a season and it has saved my ass so many times.

Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tale - these are anime (there's others) that need no mention. And to be fair - compared to other anime they're quality isn't that good. Compare the beautiful art of K to Naruto - or try Guilty Crown vs Bleach.

Imo the truly good shows, Toradora, Onegai Twins, Spice and Wolf, are ignored. So I like to bring light to the darkness that is there beauty.

I mean, can you really compare mainstream to a show like Broken Blade? Or how about B Gata H Kei? Or even Golden Times?

My personal opinion? No SAO gets really REALLY stupid after 4 episodes and if you watch the second season you'll want to kill yourself. I recommend the sister anime Accel World. Or if your looking for something somewhat long D Grey Man. If none of these work there's Gungrave and an anime i REALLY loved in Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin.

Anyway, felt obligated to finish up my Spring shows after my June "break" from the internet.

Ping Pong the Animation still comes off as the highlight of the season for me and given how the show started that fact doesn't surprise me in the least. From the outset the show brought an inspired art and animation style to the table and was able to back itself up with an engrossing character drama as well. Despite the name of the show I felt throughout the series that Ping Pong was more a tale of its characters and I found myself connecting in one way or another to antagonist and protagonist alike and it made the actual matches, the "contests of will" between 2 opposing forces, that much more interesting as a result. The "enemies" in this are less tools for the protagonist to move forward and more actual people within the story who have their own set of dreams, motivations, and worldviews that they bring to the table. Ping Pong was the stage for the author to be able to tell these stories rather than the actual focus. Don't miss out on this one, Funimation has it up on their youtube channel as well.

Hitsugi no Chaika is one that I'm also not seeing a ton of attention being given to so I went out of my way to finish just recently as well and I was actually impressed with the themes the show was presenting throughout, this sort of focus on the role of the soldier in a post war environment. Sure it's still a story with magic and dragons and other fantastic figures but its done in an extremely competent way and it continues what is a promising trend in the series Bones has put out this year. Noragami, Hitsugi no Chaika, and Space Dandy (hit and miss) have all been extremely entertaining. The only black sheep in all of this seems to be Captain Earth ...

As for Summer shows the only thing I'm watching right now is Zankyou no Terror (and Legend of Korra if you count that) and while I'm hesitant to give recommendations for the show with it being only 3 episodes in I have come away REALLY impressed with the way its handled itself so far. If there's anything you guys need to make sure you're watching it's Zankyou no Terror (Terror in Resonance)/

Still need to try out Tokyo Ghoul, Akame ga Kill, Space Dandy S2, Fate/Kaleid and Aldnoah Zero though ... any other shows I should be keeping an eye on?

Fairy Tail is bad and you should all feel bad.

Last couple episodes of Aldnoah Zero have been pretty disappointing to me. Main character went from being an observant dude who found himself in a situation where he was able to deal with threat A by having the right amount of luck / planning to execute a certain plan and then shifting to being shown to be the only competent pilot the earth forces have when threat B comes rolling on in.

The series showed a lot of promise with the way it handled the action at first only to hunker down the protagonist with plot armor and nerfing everyone else to make him look good in comparison.

Might drop it.

Oh and I didn't realize that I had actually read the Akame ga Kill manga about 2 years ago ... I was not impressed.

What I've seen of Space Dandy season 2 on the other hand has been pretty stellar. Hoping it doesn't have the same consistency problems as season 1.

Earth forces being so royally inc

so i watched the rest of sailor moon - still horrible

and have now started the Survival Game Club - and it's hilarious, lmao. Way better then i expected after episode 1 - starts to get pretty brutal, and pinky takes no survivors.

still waiting to start a few others - SAO is just dead to me at this point. Asuna made the show, it's like Spice without the Wolf. Ruined without her. The plot itself doesn't overly interest me nearly as much as the characters just kinda grind on me when I consider it a continuation from SAO.

That show about moon invading earth just gets stupid. It's so far gone from realism that the main guy just seems more like a plot tool to win then an actual character.

You cannot watch a show like Fairy Tail and not expect 'unlocked' powers. And I can tell it isn't really a problem for you, since you enjoyed the Iron Dragon, pinky gets powered up by red head before he engaged that 'revealed his hidden potential' revealing a fire dragon surrounding him. If the enemies get tougher, the good guys need to get tougher too.

And it's the ark right after Iron Dragon I fell for - Leo's short story was very enjoyable, watching him open up and Lucy share the companionship the other instilled in her from the Iron Dragon ark was wonderful. The story itself, if that's your focus, is completely cliche. I have seen these stories before a million times already, even the island village. *Black Star Naru anyone?*

But let's be real - anime stories completely rely on characters rather then plot to build interest and move a story along. And Fairy Tails characters all shine. I can't name any that annoy. And I felt true emotion for so many of the characters in the Dragon Iron Ark I was surprised. Everyone from the card girl to the guy with the smokes - all of them opened up and cried there own tears for there own reasons loving those around them in there own way that doesn't feel like it's there to fit a cliche personality.

A show that has voices that sound like the girls from Bratz.

That alone is stopping me from watching it.

Shingeki no Bahamut - 02

I refuse to jinx this show by saying that this is my anime of the season because the Summer disappointed me hugely on that front with me calling Aldnoah and Zankyou just that from the outset. I will say though that they've maintained that high bar they set with the first episode and it's been really refreshing see such a likable cast of characters that ... gasp ... aren't your typical shounen protagonists. Afro is totally a scumbag and I love it, so many protagonists this year have just been self insert blank slates that have nothing in the way of personality that it's great to see someone break so far away from that trend. He's a rogue bounty hunter who looks for any opportunity to make a quick buck and if that includes betraying the people around him then why not?

Death Parade - 1

I had some pretty fundamental problems with this episode, I don't think they fleshed out the characters enough to really justify the ultimate decision when things reached the conclusion of the episode. And the dissent from scared couple working together to get out of the situation they were in to, frankly, madness is seriously jarring. I had high hopes for this one but it ended up disappointing on the first ep.

Log Horizon S2 - 14

Pretty ******* great. The writer is an absolute master on the world building front and the amount of revelations coming down the pipe for this one was a joy. Despite the lack of the main crew this is probably one of the best episodes of the show this season.

Aldnoah Zero - 13

The return of Aldnoah Zero. After seeing this all I can say is wow.

That is not a good wow.

The only thing that drives me is the inevitable suffering of Slaine.

I completely understand; but, it is because of the first arc that Sword Art scored so highly. If the show had ended after the first arc, it would be at the top of my list, no questions asked. Yup, I've been saying the same things. If the first season was half as good as the second season has been up until this point then I'd have had a lot less to complain about. The battles are way more interesting thanks to the decidedly more SciFi-y mech design (no more mechs being dedicated to rocket punches and "Not one, but TWO swords") and the actual events happening outside of the battles do enough to make me want to tune in week after week. I was expecting to hatewatch it going into S2 but I've been thoroughly entertained regardless.

Still have some problems with Earth's over-reliance on Inaho to do everything, his hilariously overpowered robo-eye, the incompetence of Vers government/officers, and there being no reason in the slightest to attack earth for resources with the technology that they have at their disposal but oooooohhhh well. Purple princess is best girl.

8. Log Horizon: Honestly, I dropped this show out of sheer boredom. Nothing else needs to be said about this disappointment.

I can't say I can recall a lot of fiction going the -suddenly robot eye starts controlling personality- route unless you're referring to a different plot twist.

Caught up on Log Horizon.

I get where you guys are coming from now - a lot of the shows interesting pace is finally taking a back seat to flesh out some characters internal strife believably.

Unfortunately they did so by tying two slow stories together.

They probably thought people would enjoy watching the loli purple hair girl learingn her Teaching - but it was tedious watching her anguish over a childish issue. And it's backed and then followed by slow pacing and lots of internal dialogue.

But to say the show has dropped for it is too much, Log Horizon in season 2 is basically telling us they're comfortable enough with the plot and characters that they can slow it down and start fleshing everything out.

as such, season 2 is much like season one of clannad, it's not going to wrap up anything but give you a ton more questions.

There's also something else I've noticed - animation quality dropped. I saw consistently ugly scenes as if they just couldn't be bothered to draw a line straight. This is becoming noticeable more frequently in the later episodes, especially when the youngster started there travels.

I was disappointed with Kill la Kill frankly.

A show that absolutely oozed style from start to finish yes but one that ultimately left me dissatisfied with everything that could have been. Everything from the intro to the initial introduction of Tsumugu was absolutely sublime but after that point I feel like the show stumbles and is never able to quite pick up the pieces on the writing front. Tsumugu never does anything significant after that point. Nudist Beach, an organization that's implied to have much more significance to the overall arching plot, gets wrecked in a single episode. The "Fiber Bullet" plot point is completely dropped and forgotten about the moment it's brought up. Ryouko has the world bend over backwards to make up for her fuckups (how many times did she "get away" after being pummeled by Satsuki's forces?), the field trip arc was pointless and a waste of time, etc etc etc. It really feels like there was a major re-write during the middle of development where they just veer off into a completely different direction.

It also has a pretty awesome soundtrack, IMO. Ragyo Kiruin's theme was great, on particular.
For a song sung in rough German with a strong Japanese accent, to the point that not many people can even understand it, its pretty good.

Log Horizon? Guess I'll have to go find that article that linked Spice and Wolf and Maoyo together, i must of forgotten the contents.

also, I'm starting Ping Pong as of this moment - full review depending on completion or not will be coming afterwords.

Have fun waiting, from what I've heard we've basically caught up to the source material. Don't expect another season of Log Horizon for at least another couple years if at all.

I've always found getting into Gundam a bit of an intimidating experience because of the wealth of different series and the amount of variance there seems to be in quality. The only Gundams I can recall having seen in my life were the old Gundam Wing and G Gundam back when they were airing on Toonami. A friend of mine recommended I check out Turn-A so here I am. A low key episode but I like that they didn't feel the need to throw in some cataclysmic event from the outset in order to hook you into the series. Really liked the way they were able to establish little elements of the world without feeling the need to do a super heavy handed exposition sequence either. It's refreshing.

This has crossed the threshold of dumb into actively insulting my intelligence. I genuinely can't take this show seriously in its current state. It's honestly more comparable to some juvenile saturday morning TV show than anything I've seen in recent memory. I don't even know what to bring up first, the ridiculously flamboyant and cartoonishly evil antagonists, the main female lead whose only purpose is to fawn over our protagonist and murder dozens of her classmates, the stupidity of everyone involved with respect to how to handle a hostage crisis (let's walk into enemy territory without a plan and be forced to point a gun at MC within the first 5 seconds of realizing how stupid I am), or how our villain of the week is foiled in part due to kids randomly chucking books and other school items out of their windows. There's not a single redeemable thing about this show that I can cite at this point in time.

I saw this coming if you hadn't seen the show - you're having the exact same problems I did when the show first aired. And you're getting the responses I did because of the source material, "It'll get better! Pinky won't grind your nerves, the main guy won't be a waste of flesh given life, and the strange mix of dark reality vs school day reality will blend well eventually!!!!!!!!!"


It never does, it doesn't even try thank god. If it had I would of been pissed, because the 'realities' of some of the cast would never been understood by ANY degree by ******* HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. REGARDLESS OF PAST DRAMA.

As the MC is the most typical anime hero - he just oozes plz kill me now.

But, they're right, it does get better. But only if you look past the setting. If you can't look past that the setting is half-assed done, then the show will go on a down-word spiral of stupidity, as it sets itself up to get grander and grander as the twists and turns become more and more unexpected.

Eventually though, you catch the pattern of how this show is 'unexpected' - so be wary of over-thinking this show, you'll ruin it for yourself.

This isn't Madoka Magica whose discussions can go on for hours on what things mean - Future Dairies just sorta tales a tell in a great way.

Blah, I know I should be listening to you guys on this front. I just wish that there was something else I could be latching on to here to pull enjoyment from. Even Aldnoah Zero's tendency of throwing out concentrated dumb at the viewer had the Inaho element in at least taking down his enemies in fun ways. I just wish our MC was more Light Yagami, Lelouch, or Harry Potter and less a completely powerless dork whose main weapon (aside from his psychopathic girlfriend) is his ability to throw darts.

From everything that i've read up about the show, the fact that the sybil system is inherently flawed is kind of the message that they're trying to send? I dunno, I stopped watching Psycho Pass around the time they introduced the cyber clown dude. I hear pretty universally bad things about season 2 though.

Oh there's a lot more feels yet to come.
