Also: Slaine is unlucky as HELL in this show. He has been getting screwed over since day 1

as for 3) i honestly wouldn't be surprised if something like that happened, this is an anime after all and having the MC in a room with 2 naked girls is pretty normal.

and while i feel bad for slaine i can't shake the feeling that he's gonna be an example of "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger", so i'm treating him as a wild card right now.

It's a way a "prevent crime" I guess. Centering around a sort of police force, so called "latent criminals" (basically people who will never be able to revvert back to a normal state of mind) are allowed to live a relatively normal life in exchange for their help to catch other criminals. When I watched Lucky Star, the translator's would use TL notes to describe what we as English language users would miss. Sometimes they would go as far as leaving the original words (like onomonopeia type words such as DOKAN or FUWA FUWA). And then in the TL notes (sometimes require the pausing of the video) it would fully explain the joke. In doing so it got me to appreciate and understand Japanese humor. I hate shows that act like you are ******** and think you can't listen between the lines so to speak or remember what they just said 5 minutes ago. No need to repeat the same dialog or narrate all your actions. I also hate shows where they have a 30 second fight scene then spend 5 minutes talking.
