This would be Ignak the AN. He would ultimately defeat the rest and consume their souls. With him left on the vast continent the small colony of Diyad would form into a sizable nation. After receiving the saber from Fate, the 7th king, Lionus III waged war on Ignak and his undead army. After slaying Ignak, Lionus tried to destroy it. This didn't work so he hid it in a secure location outside of the nation's borders, hopefully never to be seen again. Although Diyadian history may tell you that Lionus died decades after, this is not true. Merely weeks after hiding the book, Lionus was approached by Fate who offered him eternal life so that they may be together forever. He rejected her love, not remembering a promise he made as a child. Now we have an angry goddess and a king. She wipes out his family, by stopping their hearts. She punishes Lionus by casting him into the Sea of Souls. The book lay dormant until the third era and the appearance of the amnesia-ridden Thanatos. After the Great Civil War, he becomes king once more. He does however remember the location of the book. After that, if you read back you know about his quest to find the pieces of the cipher, so that people may learn how to counteract it's evil magicks. And as we know, when Thanatos was slain, the book fell near Sandromin, but Xavier picked it up.
The book in nature is desires to become whole, often this would mean finding an AN. Xavier would be right in assuming that the book took a liking into him. In Xavier it sensed power and strength. So yes it's attraction to Xavier is unique. But do not be fooled. It only wishes to become whole.
I introduced Fate mainly to push the plot forward, but also to introduce one key element. Everyone's character is vital in the grand scheme of things. They each possess a trait, be it a goal, ambition, or belief that is so strong that it challenges the gods. This is a very essential tool that I only touched on briefly with my earlier dialogues with Fate. But I'll elaborate on this later.
Edit: If anyone has any input feel free. I'm trying to be more open to suggestions. So I can edit earlier stuff if need be. //OOC: I must say, this is pretty self-explanatory, and I, for one, have no questions left for now. Thus, I guess, Galrick was right - it's time to land that ship already. //End of OOC\\ (Ooc) YAY! (Ooc) |

Ner'Zul Nexhawk wrote:Nexhawk heartily laughed at Xavier's question. "Phoenixes are creatures of incredible intelligence. Normally, the bird would form a mind link with its Ashborn master for the purpose of finding out destinations and performing moment-to-moment actions. Of course, the same can be reached by just speaking to a phoenix, but in situations like aerial battles thoughts prove to carry information faster than words that were derived from that thought. Since there will be no such link between you and the mount, your phoenix will just be told to follow mine, and you will not need to control it in any way. Just hold on tight."
He extended his hand and pointed at one of the eggs. Upon casting a spell, a small fireball darted to it and threw its shell open. In a glorious transformation, Xavier's phoenix erupted from its egg and looked curiously at its future rider. It than tilted its head and glanced at Nexhawk, as if listening to something inaudible to the Dwarf. The creature gawked, as if in agreement, and leaned to the ground, indicating that Xavier could mount it now. Nexhawk caught Xavier's nervous gaze and told him, "Don't worry about the flames; if you are a friend, they will not burn you. Now climb atop and tell me when you are ready to depart." The Phoenix beckoned to him, beckoned for someone to ride him, so Xavier, albeit reluctantly, for it seemed to made of pure fire, cautiously got on the back of the beast. It was not scorching hot, it was actually pleasantly warm, but it would occasionally turn extremely hot for a few milliseconds, just to tell Xavier what it was capable of.
Xavier looked back at the eerie, violet mist. Fate was gone, and the mist itself was fading away, going back to whatever realm it came from. The people started to move again, with no recollection of the fact that they were previously frozen in time.
Xavier looked into those old, wise eyes. The beast gave a screech from under him.
"I am ready. Let us be off."

Sandromin and Alixenus leave the room to do whatever it is they planned to, as if Thanatos didn't say a word. Thanatos, obviously puzzled by the rude and nonsensical behavior thought to himself:
Did they just leave? Honestly I'll never understand outsiders.
He makes his way to the deck and looks overhead. The shores of Diyad can be seen fast approaching.... and a giant. This proved to be quite an odd day indeed. The foreign passengers on the airship were, well more than astonished. It is the first day of the Great Ascension. Shiny golden ehrom blossoms falling like snow as far as the eye can see. It's almost unreal.

Brutus looked up at the now landing air ship. A bellow of joy uttered around the lands, Brutus began jumping up and down to show where he was at. The giant began to run to where the ship was landing. He wondered how long he had been waiting for his companions. Hours? A day? He knew naught. Such joy for such a short wait! But the giant remembered so etching that he was ashamed to have forgotten. Conyr was not here with him. The giant was in a new country, was (for all purposes) on an airship., and his quite possible best friend in this world, was gone still. The giant stopped his earthshaking jump and went silent again. Where was his friend? Was he safe? Brutus felt like he was going to cry. But he couldn't, or wouldn't. He would have to let his sadness wash over him. Like a wave from the ocean. Brutus didn't know what to do, so he just sat, and noticed for the first time, the blossoms that surrounded him. They were such a deep golden color. Brutus looked at his own orange- brown tinted armor in shame. He had once seen his mighty plate armor as a shining example of strength and beauty, but these blossoms put the color of his shell to shame. Brutus picked one up delicately... So small in his hands. So perfect. Brutus stood slowly not taking his eyes from the little plant. He opened his hand and blew it away. He watched it float in the air. His thoughts flickered to the airship getting ready to dock. Brutus heard a small metal tink, it was starting to rain, Brutus looked to the heavens, a drizzle only. The sky wept at the beauty of the blossoms, and at the sadness of the giant. Brutus cried with the sky, but his sobs would be silent. He had to be strong. He had to be strong for his people, for his family, for his companions...for Conyr. The giant shook his head and began to walk to where the mighty air ship was docking. |

During that time, the five nations on Praecantaria were ruled by the Five, powerful Archmages. He killed the rest of the Five with the spells from the book and brought it to the goddess, who promptly killed him after receiving the Dark Arcanum. Afterwards, the book was given to the Deathlord that she created herself, and the trail has been lost since then. He pursed his lips. "It's probably best to admit now that I have been searching for the book myself for quite a while. The Engineer looked admiringly at the spectacle of Diyad. The airship landed in a hangar with a slight jolt. As the robot stepped off a ramp along with others, he saw the famous giant, Brutus. His sensors detected faint traces of a radioactive compound in the air, most likely iyo. He turned to the rest of the politicians. "Did we bring gas masks? If not, how will the non-Diyadian organic beings in our party avoid iyonic poisoning?" it said. |

Xavier cradled the book closer to him.
"Let us hope the book does not get in between us."
"Where did I get the book? Humble beginnings, comrade! You see, Sandromin, the Sand King, and Thanatos, were searching for the book, yes? My darling... hm?. Yes, they were searching for it. This was during the zombie outbreak; I don't know if you can recall that that or not. This outbreak essentially turned the whole Logipriest Nation into flesh-eating cannibals overnight. None of us actually knew the reason, but Thanatos believed that My Book did this. Folly, true, but he thought this all the same. They searched and searched, until they found out where it was; In the Logipriest capital! Thankfully, I was there to overhear the location and their plans. As you may soon find out, I am no fan of Thanatos. He is a cruel tyrant who is extremely egotistical. So, I promptly left, unexcused of course, to intercept them before they got there. I was a tad bit late, for they were already in the temple. When I searched for them inside, I saw Thanatos reaching for the book. Thank the heavens, Fate herself intervened! She killed the man, for better or for worse, for he is much stronger now then he was before."
Xavier saw a faint object in he distance. It seemed to be metallic in structure, and appeared to be docked on an island.
"Enough of the story telling, that is irrelevant. Let us meet our 'band of heroes', shall we?"

He looks to the giant standing aside the group.
"Brutus my friend. Glad you could join us. Jumping off of an airship must be fun for you to do it twice. Would you care to join us?"
Brutus nodded, masking the fact that just a moment ago he was sobbing. They make their way into the grand capital of Karthage. It is perhaps more spectacular than it was before. Ehrom blossoms raining down, parades, fireworks, feasts, competitions and other festivities. Thanatos led them to the grand palace. Marvelous golds and silvers, an others colors danced around the wide hallways. As they entered the throne room, Thanatos stopped. Looking at his throne and crown. It was obvious to everyone what he was thinking. Before he would be clad in fancy armors, looking as lavish as his kingdom. He had pride, yet he was humble. He loved to laugh and spend time with others. He was dignified. Thanatos approached his throne and held up his crown to eye level. Now he was out of place. His leather armor and weapons made him look more like an assassin, or a thief. His hands were wearing dirty gloves and his eyes made him seem inhuman. He felt in his heart that soon he wouldn't belong. He tried his best to maintain his vibrant personality, but more and more the world seemed distant. The only thing he could hold onto was love. These men, and that giant were like family to him. He had even grown fond of the robot. Removing his hood he turned to Ignatus and the engineer, as well as the council.
"My apologies but you'll have to excuse us one last time. This won't be long. Achyr, maybe you could show Ignatus the carnivale, or perhaps the Great Librarium. And with that, Sandromin wondered how Alixenus would react. Actually, no, he already knew what he was going to do; rather, he was wondering how Thanatos would react. But that was besides the point. Sandromin followed Thanatos into the map room, with its decadent walls and vivid maps.
Since his arrival, he wondered about his vision. What could it do? He had no ideas of its limits. Quietly, he had to wait; Sandromin was waiting for tutelage from the... Ashborn? He couldn't recall. But he walked, and that was when he was drawn out of his own thoughts back into the map room. Something important was happening, so Sandromin had to listen. He looked at his scimitar and his silken robes. All orange. The radiance around him was continual and enveloping. Suddenly, he realized he had grown distracted yet again. He forced his mind to shut off the vision.
Not right now, he thought.
And then, he looked up to talk.

Thanatos' eyes began to glow with intensity as he sat down at the end of the long table, looking at the glowing globe that floated at the center of the table. He looked at his hands for a moment, before looking back at the two men before him. His words held unfamiliar gravity.
"There is more to existence than toil, reward, conflict and the mysticism of the unknown. There will come a time when we will have a choice, to be content with the restrictions of the inevitable, or to shatter them. My father said these words before he died. Until recently, I was incapable of comprehension. Now I have clarity. But I cannot orchestrate new beginnings, nor can I achieve them alone. I can merely show you the way if you choose to let me. So use this information as you will."
"Sandromin, you have conversed with Free, have you not? Then you should know somewhat of our current situation. If you recall our last encounter, you witnessed me drive a saber into my heart. And a woman took me away. Alixenus, there is no doubt that she may have approached you too before. This woman is an Elder God, her name is Fate. There was a time, long ago when she was merely a child. Now her power extends the ends of space. Her job is to decide the end result of all living things, in order to prevent us from finding the truth. Centuries ago she fell in love, no, became obsessed with a Diyadian prince. When he became king, he was a hero. He liberated Diyad from the tyranny of a man who once wielded magicks of darkness. Shortly after she approached him, begging him to join her in eternity. He refused, so she took his family. She cast him into the Sea of Souls. So long he spent, an eternity. Somehow he made his way back to our world, after forgetting who he once was. All he was left with was a name he heard. He could only remember the name, that the souls would weep. Thanatos. In another tongue, it means death. There was a reason I treat you with such familiarity. I already know you. When I became king again, I'd met you, the same way you'd remember. We saved the remaining Logipriests, like we did. As time went by we forged a powerful friendship, Brutus too. We also authored an alliance that would change Dustia. The Trinity, Order of Three. But the influence of the book, the Dark Arcanum, along with the combined curses of the cipher, corrupted me. Alixenus and Brutus, had no choice, and I was slain. But then something unexpected happened. I woke up once more in Diyad, as I did when I found it. I don't know how many times this happened, but no matter how many changes I made, I would die, and Dustia would be eradicated. It was Fate's game with me. To prevent me from giving you this information. This time things are different, I slayed myself. And now I have returned. I have clarity of our situation this time. Fate plans to destroy all life in our world, with the fires of the sun. She has done this countless times before. the Elder God's have been playing games with us, and we never notice because we die. Create the mortals, manipulate them, destroy them before they discover the truth. We are being oppressed with out knowing. But I know their secret. So simple, yet so important. Mortals have the power to challenge the gods. It's deep inside. Sandromin you are only feeling the beginnings of this power. It's happened countless times before. But recently, or more like hundreds of eras ago, this stopped. The gods have become mad with power, I've witnessed it firsthand. When she took me from the temple, I spent those long months in Fate's palace in the heavens before escaping back to Dustia. Now I have clarity."
"Now to my point, we are running out of time. Fate is speeding up the process. She's planning to wipe us out within the next five seasons(years). From this point on, everyone we know is vital to both our story, and our survival. YOU have the power to defy the gods, and overcome them. But this is your choice. The question is do you choose to believe my words? Do you choose to act upon this knowledge?"

Nexhawk inspected Xavier's face as the latter told the story of his acquisition with the Dark Arcanum. This one will have extreme difficulties parting with the corrupted book. It will certainly take a lot of convincing, if not even worse. Let's hope he will see reason in my cause.
His eyes narrowed, and he nodded toward the Dwarf's last remark. Nexhawk murmured several words in his Phoenix's ear, and the two birds graciously descended toward the metal airship.
Nexhawk glanced at Xavier. "I couldn't help but hear you mentioning those Logipriests. What kind of people are they?" ______________________________________________________________________________________________
Ignatus left the airship in pure awe of his surroundings. All around the landing zone, majestic trees were sprawling in full blossom. The city they entered looked quite opulent, and the beautiful trees enhanced its grandeur. Everywhere they passed, there were many applications of the cryptic iyo. Ignatus probed the air, thinking that it might reveal the origin of this energy that powered the city, and found it completely devoid of magic, just as he suspected.
He was not surprised when Thanatos left him with Achyr yet again. It was understandable that the three leaders maintain really close relations and probably had much to discuss. He gazed up and noticed two fiery figures flying from the east. His keen sight helped him recognize the Phoenixes, and Ignatus even saw Nexhawk's silhouette on one of the mounts. Although he had no idea who was accompanying the Fiery Lord, Ignatus smiled at such a quick arrival. He leaned closer to Achyr and casually stated, "You might want to notify your king that the Hawk of Burning Death has arrived." |

Alixenus felt numb. Just numb. Sound seemed to fall away and the map room stretched into Eternity. Thanatos had revealed to him the horrifying facts of their situation, and he could not process them. How could anyone possibly comprehend the fact that the Elder Gods were going to destroy the entire world with fire, while he and his own, possibly non-existant Gods, could do nothing? He had faced death so many times before in so many guises. But now the reaper stood before him as an equal and told him that his time, everyone's time, was at an end. How could death himself die? How could they challenge the Gods? His mind became a roaring torrent of fear and darkness. Fate was right, Thanatos planned to kill her. But Fate was going to destroy the world. Who did he believe? How did he know this was not an elaborate ploy? That they were both in fact allied with one another?
He felt small, he felt a fool. A fool for not bothering to ask how Thanatos had escaped the underworld. A fool for focusing on the petty quarrels between mortals. A fool for not embracing the offer of new technologies with greater vigour. A fool for thinking that dressing like the Venezzians of old, in the hope that it would strike a cord with the Diyadians, even mattered. But worst of all, he felt a fool for thinking he ever had any control of his life. At least Thanatos claimed that he and those around him mattered.
This was all too much. Alixenus just wanted to cry like a child, run, hide in a corner somewhere from the creeping darkness. In the silence, he used his trembling voice to utter the only thing he could think to say.

OOC: DAMNIT BRUTUS!
You're making me regret taking Conyr from you.
Stop making me sigh with despair whenever I see that that lonely ache in the giant's giant heart is my fault!
Oh god, I'm gonna cry now... don't look guys.

"This is amazing!"
The thrill of sand surfing was so amazing it actually hurt. The speed, the leaps, the sensation of bees stinging any bit of exposed flesh as sand whipped Conyr and Hakyi mercilessly, the pulsing heat of the sun on their backs, the reflected glare of its glow off the white sand into their eyes, the whistling of the wind, the creaking of the mast, the flapping of the sail, the smell of sweat and sand and heat, all these sensations combined to become an all-consuming roar that engaged all of Conyr at once and he loved it.
"MY NAME IS CONYR!" he screamed into the wind, which snatched his words away from him like a mother taking a toy from a disobedient child. "I AM A LOGIPRIEST!"
Hakyi didn't smile. Conyr had come to recognise that at the helm, this sandman became one with his craft. There was only one person on this kalteraft and that was Conyr. Hakyi brow was furrowed, his mouth set, and his eyes were darting between the compass, the sail and the ground, every single moment required new adjustments to the ropes which he had tied to his arms and, Conyr realised as he looked more carefully, his legs. His whole body controlled the ship.
No. He is the ship.
And as Conyr watched in wonder as this Hakyi piloted his raft with masterful grace, his head split in pain and his consciousness faded so fast he had no time to yell out. - I looked down at Conyr, one year old, lying on the grass and staring at the foliage above in fascination. Fascination which was frighteningly intense. He did not make a noise, did not move a limb, simply stared.
His eyes are so wide, so innocent.
"Hello, son." I whispered.
My child didn't stir.
"You should know that, due to our promiscuity, our children are raised by the community. You will not have two parents, you will have dozens. Dozens of adults who love you, care for you, whose hearts are warmed by you as they watch you grow and develop.
You should also know that there have been instances where the true parents of a child can choose to raise their son or daughter themselves, and hence imbue a little bit of themselves in the next generation, to in a way become immortal.
You should know that I have chosen the former. I do not wish for you to be raised by me and your mother. It is too...
Let me just say that, since I'm sitting here, talking to you at an age which cannot remember, an age where your brain is but a seed and my words are merely water to help you grow, you don't want me to be your father. I am a coward, and what I am doing right now proves it.
You will be greater than me, Conyr. Greater than all of us."
He was asleep now, those luminous green eyes closed against the world, against me. -
Greater...Conyr... All of us... Father... Conyr... Sand... -
"CONYR!"
"WHAT!?" I yelled, opening my eyes angrily.
Hakyi looked taken aback. "You're awake."
"With you shouting in my ears, I don't doubt it."
Hakyi paused, swallowed, and Conyr saw some inner conflict rage through him as his face twitched. He turned to look at the Wyngad, and instantly calmed. Conyr blushed, feeling slightly guilty at his outburst.
The logipriest turned away, and gasped. He couldn't help it; his neck simply bent back, back ,back, and still the peaks climbed before him. The steel-grey, whitish-purple and bluish-green peaks of Lucia dominated his view, and Conyr was humbled by their sheer size.
"My Wyngad won't be much use here."
Conyr didn't turn back, still ashamed that he had snapped at the sandman so unnecessarily. But the dream... the details were blurred and mutilated by his imagination; all he could recall were lush green leaves and a voice. A voice that used his name.
"It's alright, Hakyi. I'll help you carry it."

The Engineer chose this moment to reveal a plan. "We have been working on a space program, supplemented by Doric data, and believe we have achieved lightspeed travel, and although research speculation points to even greater speed using meta-dimensional travel, this will have to do. I present to you: Project Ark." it said, as it projected a holographic miniature image of a gargantuan space vessel into the middle of the table. "A space vessel approximately 10,000 kilometers long, housing the downloaded minds of the entire Collective, cryogenic sleep pods for 3/4 of the known populace of Dustia and Precantaria combined, databanks to house all up-to-date technological, scientific, alkhemic, magickal and historical kmowledge we have in digital format, and infrastructure building materials and supplies. It should make for a good backup plan if we ever seem to be losing." it said in monotone. "To account for the other 1/4 of the populace, we might have a solution. Although it is uncertain to work and experimental, we have developed technology to transfer consciousness. A cloned body for all disembodied consciousnesses will be grown upon arrival to the habitable planet our sensors and probes have located." it concluded. |

[OOC]Galrick, what exact Technology Tier are you on? I mean, I know you are advanced, but come one, faster then light travel? That seems a bit far fetched. Maybe another century?

It will certainly take a lot of convincing, if not even worse. Let's hope he will see reason in my cause.
His eyes narrowed, and he nodded toward the Dwarf's last remark. Nexhawk murmured several words in his Phoenix's ear, and the two birds graciously descended toward the metal airship.
Nexhawk glanced at Xavier. "I couldn't help but hear you mentioning those Logipriests. What kind of people are they?" "The Logipriests? They are a simple bunch. I do not know what what they exactly worship, but they do have temples scattered round and such. Be warned, though, the more Logipriests that die, the more the others get stronger. There are one or two left now, I would assume that they have immense power."
Xavier shrugged. The Logipriests were no threat to him, or the rest of the world. They were powerful, yes, but there is a difference between power and actually knowing how to use it.
Xavier ears began to pop frantically as they descended. This pain very great, but the reward was greater. Yes, the reward of enlightening fools of the deceit of Thanatos, and teaching the truth about Fate.
The castle was almost right in front of them. It had marvelous architecture; the walls had no cracks and crevices to be seen, and there were many arches and open-ways, which was very unique for the time period.
"Where do we land?"

@ Nexhawk: I want to wait and finish the conversation, we can say that Nexhawk and Xavier are arriving towards the end of it. I've been waiting since I introduced my character for this. After this I have nothing else that I already planned months ago.
@Galrick:
1. I don't see how you could tell me the plan when you're not in the room. You were escorted out of the palace by Vektor, remember?
2. I'm saying no to your plan. You're becoming way too OP. I'm sure Sandromin said no one should be at faster than light travel. If it were possible because of the Doric race, I'm sure that Conyr wouldn't be travelling to Lucia by a kalteraft. Plus it's only been a span of weeks since it was discovered by the Sandmen.
There are guards prepared in the city to show the fiery ruler where to land. After some direction, the two large birds landed near the harbor. Their passengers dismounted(and I'm assuming they become eggs again?). One of the guards was normal, in white attire. The other was one of the King's Men, clad in heavy gold armor. He points to the newcomer.
"I was told to await you, but we received no word of a Lucian ambassador, if you could so kindly explain this to me." |

Nexhawk looked calmly at the guards and answered, "This Dwarf came here on my request and will remain under my absolute protection for the time we spend here. If you have any further questions regarding his presence in the city or your relations with him, please direct them at me personally."
He noticed Ignatus walking rapidly toward the group. The latter approached Nexhawk, and the two Ashborn shook hands in greeting. Ignatus looked suspiciously at Xavier while retelling recent events to his lord. "All leaders are here: Thanatos, the one of the death itself; Alixenus, the leader of Venezzians, who met Cenizar's ship; and Sandromin, who-"
"I know, the gifted one," Nexhawk interrupted him promptly. "Now, can you lead me to their current location?"
"Not quite, my lord," Ignatus sighed, "for they have some sort of a meeting in Thanatos' palace. I was not let in, so I am afraid you will have to wait as well. And may I ask you, how does this... Dwarf have the book itself?"
"It's a long story, Ignatus," Nexhawk laughed. "Let's just say that he arrived at Spodium by his own means, with the Darn Arcanum. And it is fine about the delay. I have waited quite a long time to even contact a first representative from Mediterra, so I will be able to wait a little more. Before you lead me to the palace, though..." Nexhawk turned to the two guards and tossed them a pouch filled of something soft. "There are twenty or so cendren leaves, brought from my homeland. Every two hours or so, simply place one leaf on each of the eggs, and they will take care of the rest. Be sure to feed the Phoenixes on time, otherwise," he chuckled, "they will wake up and look for the leaves themselves."
He gazed back at Ignatus and after words "Lead the way" the two Ashborn headed to the royal palace. |

The giant sighed. Apparently now was not the time to have friendly conversation. No, it was a time of worry. "If no one mind. Brutus going for walk. Find when done being sad." The giant promptly left the building and ventured outside. Citizens had gathered around the entrance and cheered when Brutus walked out haunched over. Had they actually waited for him? "Uh...king still inside. Delegating." The giant was uncomfortable in large groups. There were maybe ten people. A child no older than maybe ten walked up to Brutus. "Are you a real giant? Daddy says he's met you before, he said you help fix the air ship. Is that true?" "Uh...yes... Brutus real, see." The giant slammed his fist into his chest just to prove he was no illusion. The boy stared up at Brutus in wonderment. Other children were starting to peak out at the giant from behind their parents and grandparents. "Your so big! I bet your the strongest of your giant friends!" One of the younger ones piped up. "No. Brother is twice as big." Even some adults were astonished by that. How could some thing that big even exist?! "Have you gotten in any fights!? With other giants? Or a troll? Or ogres?!" "No, but Brutus did fight sea monster before coming here." "How sir would you have caught a sea beast? Weren't you on the air ship?" An adult who seemed skeptical asked, trying to debunk the existence of giants. "Brutus jumped off airship. Thought it be quicker to walk ashore. Was right."Brutus was matter o' fact in his statement. "We'll then prove you fought a se-" Brutus cut the the annoying Diyadian off as he pulled a tooth out of his bam race. It was about the size of an average mans hand. All the children gawked at the fang. He let the first one hold it. The amazement on the child's face reminded Brutus of his daughter, and his son when he had been younger. The giant then gently nudged the children out of his way so he could fully take on the sight of the city. Magnificent. Not a grand as his old home had once been, but grand none the less. Just as Brutus was walking with his posse of gathering citizens he heard a woman shout off in the distance. Brutus stopped. "What is it Mr.Giant?" One of the children asked. "So etching bad" Brutus turned. "Everyone stay here Brutus be back soon!" The giant then took of quick as a horse. He sped to where he heard the woman. He saw several men in an alley way, Assaulting a middle aged woman. Rage enthrall end Brutus. He let out an earth shaking bellow that made some plants tip over and fall. A few of the men looked on at the giant in horror. "Let her go." Some men looked at the giant others looked toward each other. Two of the men charged. Swords and daggers drawn. Brutus wouldn't stand for such things. He grabbed one of the men by the head, picked him up with one hand and slammed him onto the ground, he then spun toward the other and used his momentum on his back swing to catch the man in the stomach. The blow was so great that he actually flew through the air much like an air ship, a smaller fleshier, screaming airship.brutus stomped one foot on the ground and threw his arms back as he let out another challenge. The remainder of the men charged him. Brutus kicked the first man to reach him into a wall. He nearly crushed another man as his swung with both his fist downward. Brutus was getting ready to throw one of the men when he felt a sting in his torso. One had stabbed him in the ribs. His accomplishment was not well earned as Brutus grabbed him by the waist and threw him out of the alley. The remaining men now could see they weren't going to win this fight. They fled like rats from a light. Brutus huffed and stamped his foot like a bull. He looked to the woman. She wasn't decent so Brutus covered his eyes. "Is lady okay? Need help?" The giant couldn't see, but he could hear. She sounded terrified. "Pl-please don't kill me!" "Brutus, friend want help. Here. Take hand." The giant was slow in extending his arm, he kept his palms up as not to frighten her. The woman put one of her hands on Brutus' after a minute. "You, you can look now." Brutus uncovered his eyes. She was a petite woman. Younger than he had originally thought. Maybe in her twenties. "Come, Brutus bring to doctor. Brutus carry you." And that's what he did. He carried the woman, followed her instructions and got her to the medic. "Thank you." "Is fine. Brutus go now. Be safe." The giant ran back to the children. Many had left but some had gotten their parents to stay. But looked ready to leave by the time he had gotten back. "Brutus sorry. Had to help some one. Forgive please." The children all smiled. Which made Brutus smile. He hadn't seen such happiness since he last saw Conyr. One of the children tapped Brutus' shin. "Can we ride on your back? Or shoulders?" Brutus looked at parents, they nodded after some delegation. So for the rest of the hour Brutus let children sit atop his shoulders and experience what it was like to be a giant. After some time the children left, with there parents. Brutus began to leave when he heard something tap his leg. He looked down to see a little girl with a stuffed animal of some kind by her side. She looked dirty and hungry. "Mister giant? Can I have a ride?" "Uh, where parents?" The little girl looked on the brink of tears after Brutus said that. "I, I don't know."the little girl started to cry. Brutus knelt down so he wasn't so tall. Brutus started to make low soothing noises. "Shhh, it's okay. No cry. It'll be fine Brutus promise." After some minutes she started to calm down. "Want come with Brutus? Have friends and food. You can ride on shoulders if you want." The little girls face brighten up. She climbed aboard the giants shoulders and they began their trip. "What name?" "Sara." "That's pretty name. My name Brutus." "That's a good name." "Thank you." For once in a long time Brutus felt complete again. He |

The two Ashborn raised their eyebrows at the daring question. Nexhawk abruptly stopped and whirled toward the Dwarf. "What made you think we want the Dark Arcanum? Judging from the pain and suffering it brought to the people of Praecantaria, one of my kind would be very foolish to desire the book for themselves. Trust me, there is no reason for us to wish to possess the Arcanum." Nexhawk rubbed his chin. The book truly has a great influence on his mind.
A thought of revelation pierced his mind. "Wait, is that all about the time I mentioned that the book will be crucial in my future endeavor?" He chuckled and patted Xavier's shoulder. "Believe me, my friend, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. You see, I am looking for a certain artifact. My suspicions are high that the Dark Arcanum is a necessary component for its assembly, but it simply needs to be present at the site. Hence, you will part with it for only a few moments while I will finish the incantations that bind the parts of the artifact together. Right now, however, I cannot tell you more about this object, so you'll have to excuse me." |
