Ner'Zul Nexhawk wrote:Sandromin Hes wrote:Ner'Zul Nexhawk wrote://OOC: A quick question: does (or did) AN have any followers, or is he acting all by himself?
@Xavier: Tough choice, honestly... I'd say Nexhawk is True Neutral, because his motives are kinda unknown, as well as his allegiances. He doesn't seem to act for anyone's benefit except that of his people. Also, my character's attitude towards Fate is not even clear to myself, so I guess you might not be alone... We'll see about that, I guess. //End of OOC\\ No followers; he's a necromancer, so all his followers are dead that are risen. If you read the second lore bomb a little more carefully, you'd know that I alluded to your Deathlords; he resurrected several kings as his dark minions. //OOC: Aha, that's what I was asking about. One of my versions included several Life Wardens twisting their magic to come to the AN's side, but it actually seems viable that he would not have apprentices and instead would work alone. @Xavier: Well, it appears that there is only one of them, and he is the Arch Necromancer himself. I might be mistaken, but it seems from Sandromin's bombs that he resides in Brutus' homeland at this moment. One wonders, would the dwarf king dare to ask for aid from such a repulsive being? //End of OOC\\
There are several Deathlords, I think about 7 or so? They are all dead kings, so there are several. One is in the Giant's Lands, one resides deep within the ruins of Doria Prime, one is found flying over all the lands on a great Wraith-beast, and one can be found in the Tundras of Doomgoth.
Be warned, they do not take kindly to any mortal being without the Dark Arcanum. Furthermore, the ruins of Doria Prime are completely hostile, filled to the brim with rogue automatons and hundreds of evil cave-monsters. In the Tundras of Doomgoth, there is nothing but hostility. I can't say what, for it'll spoil one of the short stories I shall be writing. And finally, the only way to destroy them is to destroy the book. The book can be destroyed by throwing it in the great pit from whence it came: the crater formed by the large star falling from Heavens to Dustia.
Those are the only KNOWN locations of the lich-kings, the Deathlords. |

"Yes, I did notice a bit of fuzz when I took a snapshot of the fueling system." said the engineer. "How exactly does iyo work in both amplifying alkhemistry and as a fuel source? Does it focus and channel the electrical signatures on a user's neural pathways into the object that is to be manipulated? Is it highly combustible and prone to act like a solid under high pressure? Or is it just so dense that no hermetic sealing is needed?" it asked curiously. |

//OOC: I hope this post will explain to some extent why Ashborn (all Praecantarians, in fact) have a prejudiced opinion of Fate.
@Thanatos - I'll definitely try to carve out some time to read the entire thread prior to my arrival, I promise. I understand now that I'm missing out a lot. Also, somehow I've only now took notice that it was Justice who spoke to Fate in your sequence, so I'm intrigued.
@Sandromin - Here is my question, though: Do these seven kings possess the powers of the First Deathlord aka AN? Can they reanimate dead as well and wield his dark magics, or do they just command the already existing armies of the undead? This is the only part unclear to me from both passages; I assume they have the same powers, but just wanted to clarify. If it's the first one, then they will be considered Deathlords in Praecantarian lore; otherwise, not so much. //End of OOC\\
Ignatus suspiciously followed Thanatos through the airship's compartments. From the outside, the transport was quite similar to the Sky Striders' windboats on Praecantaria; however, Ignatus has never been inside one, and so the material the airship was made of and comparable closeness of the walls unnerved the Ashborn. He heard Thanatos mention border control and replied, "I believe the Fiery Lord's method of transportation will be unusual for your men. He will not arrive on board of a ship; instead, your border control will see him flying on a phoenix. It would be wise to prepare your men for such arrival." _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Nexhawk laughed at Nak'Sora's remark. "But it was your dwarf who -"
"The name's Xavier," inserted the dwarf.
"- Xavier who summoned you, not me! And yes," Nexhawk leaned a little bit forward, "if you wish to convince me that your side is the right one to take, it will take such stories and more to do so. Why in the world should I believe you and not Sol'Krin, whose powers were granted to my people in the first place?"
He was not allowed to continue his train of rhetorical questions, because a phoenix hatchling soared before him and dropped a letter into Nexhawk's palms. He unrolled it, and a smirk crossed his face. "Well, it seems like I'm needed elsewhere right now. I ask you to excuse my rushed exit." He headed to the outskirts of Spodium without another word. Nak'Sora disappeared from sight, while Xavier hastily followed Nexhawk. "Where do you think you are going? We were not done yet!"
Nexhawk dropped the letter into his companion's hand. The latter read it, and his eyes narrowed upon the realization. "You are going to see our enemies in Diyad, aren't you?"
"They are not enemies yet," wisely responded Nexhawk, "just like you are not my ally for now. If you wish to have an objective opinion on something, it is best to get acquainted with both sides of the argument."
That left the dwarf speechless while Nexhawk walked towards the phoenix stables. The stable master understood his lord's intentions without words and nodded, greeting the Hawk of Burning Death. Nexhawk asked the other Ashborn, "Is he fed sufficiently?"
"Yes, my lord."
Nexhawk smiled in approval and stepped inside the stables. Once there, he headed toward the open area where both he and the dwarf saw a giant brown egg sitting in the center of a fenced off rectangle. Nexhawk extended both eggs toward the egg and gently touched the egg, at the same time muttering one spell.
Immediately, long fiery cracks ran around the egg's seemingly lifeless surface. Then the upper half folded out- and downward, bending at the cracks as a sheet of paper would. The Xavier, who now stood next to Nexhawk, gasped in amazement at the spectacle that was revealed before him.
Inside the egg, a truly majestic bird unfolded his wings. A radiant glow emanated from the creature, for each feather resembled a small flame on the great fiery being. His eyes were burning just like those of Ashborn, and its size was slightly dwarfing theirs. The phoenix stepped out of its egg and tilted his head in his greeting to the master.
Nexhawk ruffled the bird's igneous feathers and spoke to him, "Good day, Fel'ir! I hope you slept well, for we have a long journey to travel." He then turned to Xavier, "Meet Flame Wing! He was my trusted mount and friend for many years on Praecantaria, and although his roost was only partially destroyed during the Hydromancers' onslaught, he left it and followed me to this new land." Nexhawk easily climbed on Fel'ir's back and motioned to the dwarf. "So, Xavier, do you wish to come with me to that kingdom of Diyad and meet these leaders of your continent? There is enough space on Fel'ir's back, but, if you would not be comfortable with that, I could offer you another phoenix to fly on." |

So, in order to sharpen our minds, let's do this! But there are rules: 1) You must state your strengths and weaknesses. If you are weak against an opponent, you lose, unless... 2) You have a 3:1 "Population" ratio. Each time you win, you gain a 'follower' for your group (population). If you beat out an enemy you're weak to, then you lose 2 people as an aftermath effect... Default Population is 1... 3) You must post an epic battle description, just so people have fun reading this thread... 4) No orbital strikes... 5) You MUST have one weakness and one strength. //OOC: Phew, finally read through the entire thing, every post before my arrival. Took me two days, considering all the real life disruptions and such. Ignatus pursed his lips as he listened to Thanatos. "Unfortunately, our phoenix messenger should be in Spodium at this moment, having delivered my letter to the Fiery Lord. And I suspect that the hatchling will show him the way to us, so there will be no way for me to contact Nexhawk using those means. Nevertheless, I'll see what I can do."
He looked outside and searched the ocean for the giant the jumped off the Embershard. Hmm, he certainly exhibits rather strange behavior... As a matter of fact, he did not even acknowledge my mentioning of his homeland!
As the men walked into the airship's meeting room, they were met by several passengers, including one that Ignatus had a great interest in. The person's skin was of the color of sand, and from the look of his clothes, the man was some sort of a leader among his people. His sword, although sheathed, was noted by Ignatus as radiating fire that was slightly seeping from the top of the sheathe. Impressive. Ignatus chuckled and addressed the man, "Although I do not know your name yet, your aura tells much about you. Would you be so kind to indulge me as to how exactly and why did you, despite not being one of my kin, come to possess the powers of the Ashflame?" _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
To the north of Mediterra, the Pathburner successfully landed near the island. The Ashborn set up a temporary camp and soon enough organized an expedition into the heart of the dense jungle forests. Led by Cenizar himself, they roamed the island for a couple of hours and finally encountered a landmark unlike any other. The group walked in front of a giant temple that was covered with thick sprawling vines and jungle foliage. The temple had an entrance which led somewhere dark; it wouldn't be a problem for the Ashborn, however, for their fiery eyes would pierce any darkness.
Cenizar smiled as he observed the grandiose edifice. "This is it." |

Brutus wades upon to the shore. A fisherman and his child looked at the giant in awe as he lumbered onto the beach. Brutus turned to the father and son and waved to them. The fisherman with his jaw still agape waved halfheartedly at the giant. The young boy waved with great enthusiasm. Brutus sat down on the beach and looked toward the two great flying ships. Brutus raised his arm so it would catch the light, he turned it to signal that he had made it ashore and was waiting. Brutus then wondered why no one else simply jumped with him, he was sure no one would have an encounter quite like the one he had. Then a thought arised. What if everyone was mad at him for jumping? Brutus didn't worry too much, but the thought was enough to make him believe it might happen, however great or slight the chance may be. "To late now." The giant muttered to himself. He laid back and waited for his friends to arrive.
"So wait, you and Reta slept together?" Cairn wasn't angry at his friend, but he wasn't proud of him either. He looked on as frost shifted his position and looked at the ground. "Well. Yes and no. We didn't sleep together, but we slept together..." Frost idly kicked a rock. "Then you rested, together Adryan. Not slept. That's something different." Cairn felt like he was talking to a child. "Sorry cairn, it's kinda a big deal sorta thing, not really thinking straight." Cairn shook his head. He couldn't help but smile. Cairn put his hand on frost's shoulder. "C'mon lets go see what there is to do today." "Okay." Frost walked behind his friend. "You here about Dagareth?" "Yeah, apparently me biting his arm wasn't great for his health." "How'd you hear about that?" "Heard it last night, when is was on a walk. Met a Storm Man too." "Your night was full of accomplishments wasn't it?" Frost just shrugged. "Dagareth's boy's are gonna beat you to a pulp you know." Frost shrugged again. "Stop being so damn odd." Shrug. Cairn sighed and shook his head. Today was going to be a long day. |

It also occurs to me that if Fate manages to bring the collective round to her side, we're suddenly staring down the barrel of a Terminator-esque apocalypse. Hell maybe even Borg, but I digress.
Having read the lore-bombs I notice that there may be a slight conflict arising between Sandromin and myself. He pretty much covered every angle with that creation story, meanwhile I've been alluding to Venezzians having their own set of deities beside the elder gods (note my last conversation with Fate). I suppose the Venezzians could in fact be worshipping the Second, but I've already mentioned Hera and Athena. Conyr kicked at... sand. Again. He was bored, waiting for Jern. What could the spirit possibly be doing that takes so long? Thinking about destiny? Pondering the mysteries of life? Perhaps he's trying to organise the entire history and lore of this planet. Conyr chuckled as he thought this; surely no creature could possibly achieve that.
He looked over at Hakyi, polishing the Wyngad. The sandman's hands move with precision and care, his fierce eyes tender as he checked the sail for any ruptures or compromises.
Hours later, as the sun was setting (OOC:This is the same day the Embershard and Thanatos' airship witnessed Brutus jump from both of their vessels. So it's dusk of that day.), Hakyi sighed, satisfied. He turned and looked for the boy, Conyr. There he was. Hakyi walked over to the logipriest, sleeping on the sand. As much as he tried, he still felt anger. This boy survived the judgement of the kalter seed. I cannot forget this.
Conyr stirred, waking from his light nap. He saw Hakyi standing over him, face in flickering shadow, and smiled.
"Hey there." He turned, and noticed the fading light outside. Frowning, Conyr turned back to Hakyi. "You know what? Let's go."
"Where?" Hakyi asked, even as he walked over to begin preparing his kalteraft.
"North."
Hakyi stopped and turned. "The mountains? Dwarven mountains? Lucia?"
Conyr grinned, and Hakyi thought his eyes glowed. But perhaps it was just the torchlight.
"Yeah, lets go to Lucia."

As Xavier considered the offer, Nexhawk's spiritual self was rather abruptly and forcefully thrown out of his body. The outskirts of Spodium faded before his eyes and transformed into endless empty space over Dustia. He could see the planet slowly rotating under him and revolving around the system's sun. Nexhawk was enthralled by the burning sphere when a voice reached him from behind. "A magnificent view, isn't it?"
Nexhawk turned around and saw a man who was enveloped in the radiance as potent as that if the sun itself. He instantly recognized the figure and bowed his head in utter respect. "Sol'Krin. How may I be of service?"
"Welcome, Nexhawk," the god spread him arms. "I want you to know that you are doing the wise thing by coming to the capital of Diyad."
"This name tells me...very little. I'll accept the praise, nevertheless, although I can't refrain from wondering how does this all concern you."
Sol'Krin rubbed his chin. "Let's just say that I am...in the lead of the crusade against a god gone rogue."
A realization hit Nexhawk. "It is Nak'Sora, isn't it? You wish to purge the world of her?"
"That is correct."
"But then..." Nexhawk's eyes narrowed. "You must be Freedom the Dwarf spoke about, isn't that so?"
"Yes, this is the name the people of Mediterra and Diyad call me by," Sol'Krin nodded.
The Dwarf's words intruded Nexhawk's thoughts. Freedom is the one that aims to 'liberate' the people of Dustia from Fate. At the same time, something rose in his ember heart, something so distinctly...defiant. It turned out to be Nexhawk's care for his people, and he decided that no god would interfere with that. "What justifies your right to get rid of Nak'Sora, Sol'Krin?"
The god was taken aback by the question. "What are you talking about? Her corruption, of course! She manipulates the mortals and creates unspeakable things that will lead to the ultimate and utter destruction in the end!"
"And what makes you think I will undoubtedly trust this?" scowled Nexhawk. "Where is the proof that this is not just one of your godly intrigues? Because in case it is, I've had enough of it!"
"Listen, Nexhawk..."
"No, YOU LISTEN!!!" Nexhawk shouted at the god. "Last time you and Aesta'ar had a fight over some petty artifact, it had spilled into a horrendous war on our continent. And look what it did to my people! Your children, the Ashborn, had to flee their homeland, abandoned by their god!" His eyes were ablaze with anger and hatred, but his rebellious elan started to quiet down soon enough.
Sol'Krin saw it as well and smiled. "Nexhawk, you and your people pass through difficult times now. But I have faith in you and know you will endure them and emerge as powerful as never before. But trust me when I say that Nak'Sora means no good for Dustia."
"I will not take anyone's side now. Not until I meet this Thanatos and the rest and see what they have to say," Nexhawk replied decisively. I doubt their speeches will be any different from his, however. "Now, take me back to Spodium. Xavier must be wondering about me missing."
"There is one more thing, though." Sol'Krin raised his hand. "I know you plan to search for Nak'Sora's Eye. You will need two persons that will aid in the recovery of the object. The first one will await you in the capital of Diyad. His name is Sandromin, and I gave him my gift quite recently; you must have certainly felt it. His powers need your training, and afterwards he will be absolutely necessary to accessing the Eye."
"The second one is but a boy. He holds great potential, nevertheless, for I suspect his people are the descendants of the those exiled from Praecantaria, the Life Wardens. Even if he is not, however, he will still play a very important role in your goal. When you meet Sandromin, look for the boy in the mountainous kingdom of Lucia. The Dwarf that is about to travel with you is the ruler of that land."
"Now, I bid my farewell and sincerely hope you make the right decision." With these last words, Sol'Krin motioned his hands, and Nexhawk's vision turned black.
A moment later, the mortal plane drifted into his view once again. Nexhawk looked around and noted that everything stayed exactly the same when his mind departed from his body, as if he and Sol'Krin talked while the time was frozen. Nexhawk heaved a sigh and pondered over the conversation that he just had with the god.

Ignatus is approached by none other than Achyr Solaran. Scratching his reddish beard whilst closing a book he had been writing it.
"My king sends his deepest apologies. Although he may not be present as of now, I am here to represent him to the best of my abilities." |

Ner'Zul Nexhawk wrote:As Xavier considered the offer, Nexhawk's spiritual self was rather abruptly and forcefully thrown out of his body.
//OOC: Sandromin, is Life still alive, or was he killed during Fate's rampage, according to sandmen's history?
P.S. Also, I've officially run out of ideas to write about before Thanatos, Alixenus, Sandromin, or Xavier reply to any of my characters. //End of OOC\\
Life is still alive, but in a 'comatose' or resting state deep in the Temples of Doomgoth |

@Thanatos: I decided to play along and cut out the part of a post where Ignatus already speaks to Sandromin. I'll use it later. //End of OOOC\\
"It is good to meet you, Achyr," Ignatus greeted the man. "My name, as you have heard, is Ignatus, and until recent time I've been leading the ship that you met on your way to Diyad. Now, if I understood correctly, there are representatives of several nations on this airship. If it doesn't burden you, while we waiting, could you tell me more about your and their nations, as well as their rulers and respective agendas? Such information would certainly be of great benefit to the Fiery Lord, I can assure you." |
