:P Einstein believed the best questions were the simplest ones. +1 Chances ghost ;)
besty part is that its like the devs are banned from talking about the subject.
first post in the most visable thread possable about vehicles...
and still no response on rendering :P
its true though, you cant balance vehicles in the current rendering environment.
not being able to see is such a powerful nerf that you would either have to make them cost next to nothing, or make them SUPER OP in every other way to compensate.
plus they are slowly figuring out that the militia to proto gear model isnt going to actually work as they try as best they can to figure out what a proto tank is supposed to look like. |

Prescisely, LogiBro you got a statement for that? Will we be able to choosd squads who are (non)mic only?

As far as vehicles go, I see a numerical disparity in the existing setup that might be helpful to look at in balancing the vehicles, https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=107009&find=unread
Basically the damage of AV weapons and the survivability of Vehicles leaps from level to level in astronomical steps. That makes the whole system impossible to balance.
I still maintain that how it is that every other game out there can have a dumb-fire AV weapon that isn't OP, except CCP is beyond me. |

yep my tank alt is disapoint
I dont even understand how hard it can be to fix the tanks up a little bit, sure i have no fecking clue myself how to fix them without making them op, but i didnt choose game development as my profession......
Surely its just tweaking some numbers till you get it right? lol
Like, i look at eve with the sh!t ton of ships and modules, and naturally think ccp's a bit of a boss at this kind of thing, whats making it so difficult?
while we wait, can you just buff the shield booster so its a little more on par with the amour tanks, and let us remove the passenger turrets in 1.5??
dont mean to sound like a misrable cu.nt, the games come a long way since uprising and its great you give us a heads up about things lately, just a little disapointed

While I'm disappointed for the vehicles guys in D-UNI as long as we get a real chance to now look at proposed changes before they go live, which is the second best thing to having a public test server, then I can live with it.
However, this had better work so that the community can see that they can see that they are having an effect on game development before it hits TQ.
Otherwise there is going to some backlash. |

CCP Logibro wrote:Hey guys
So as was posted by CCP Saberwing, a couple of things have been pushed back that were originally going to be in Uprising 1.5. The two big ones are the vehicle changes and the new weapons.
I'm sure you're wondering why. At this stage, we didn't feel happy with how they were and instead of putting them out half way we decided to put some more time into working on them. So they're not scrapped, just delayed.
However, there is some good news. What this also means is that we'll be posting what we have so far on the forums starting next week for you guys to give feedback before any of this stuff hits Tranquility. This will allow you to give us your take on what's coming soon to a marketplace near you. This will include both the vehicle changes, changed rifle ranges and the new weapon stats.
We still have some new stuff coming in 1.5 such as Squad Finder, Corp Roles, New WP rewards and the first set of new tutorials.
I would ask that you keep all discussion of this to this thread, and I will be locking and directing any other threads on this matter to this thread.
Thanks for your patience and understanding guys. We're looking forward to your feedback.
(And if you're wondering where the vehicle feedback thread went to, it's been moved to Feedback/Requests to make room on GD front page.)

They need to give these guys some more resources to work with.
There is a lot of doom and gloom on these forums so I hate to do it, but I just don't see it.
It's so hard to try and schedule a PC battle right now because you just don't know if people are going to log in. The matchmaking deal put the finishing touches on many people who were on the fence. There's A LOT of people who've been in a holding pattern to see what's done with vehicles.
With the release of some new games, I'm thinking this is going to be a pretty empty server soon.
I hope I'm wrong, but in my opinion we are seeing the end. |

The lack of a testing environment for players to submit feedback has been one of the most outstanding issues from my perspective. I can't imagine trying to develop a game on the scale of DUST with a limited team and no test server for players to beta test upcoming changes. A lot of the major hiccups might have been caught earlier like the TAC-AR issues at the launch of Uprising, or the shotgun hit detection bug in 1.4. I also think CCP is improving it's approach and getting the community involved earlier in the process (as evidenced by this thread). Yes it can be more painful, and you're going to have to deal with more whining on the forums, but the released content will be much better. |

Imo Eve is also a very clean balancing environment because there is range and falloff, but no cover. |

they learned that tiers dont work...
we have tiers
they spent 10 years designing their skill system... and yet the skill system we have is similar but completly different in how it interacts with gear |

The problem is that you get a week of Dev give a **** like this then they go into a shell.
The vehicle thing getting pushed back 3 months from when it was supposed to get released is a pretty big deal. With so many other things not getting any attention it's a clear indication that there are simply not enough resources at their disposal to pull this off.

Thor Odinson42 wrote:They need to give these guys some more resources to work with. I agree. CCP should beg/borrow/steal some money to get a few more developers on the team. At least until they get the initial content released with all racial suits, vehicles, a decent variety of maps, the foundation of the core mechanics in place, and a working PS4 version. After that, they can scale back some and focus on 6-month updates like EVE.

I hope I'm wrong, but in my opinion we are seeing the end. I think you're wrong. I'm not going anywhere (and if I do I'll still be running passive boosters). This game is so unique that it tends to hold people's interest despite it's flaws. I realize CCP is on borrowed time though, and I think they know it too. |

YES.
As much as balance is good, I, for one, LOVE the idea of roles and squad finders.
That being said, the squad finder needs to behave identically to the fleet finder in EVE with the added benefit of allowing players to join a match already in progress. If both are not included, its sort of a waste of effort. It's great if I can put up squad adverts to my Alliance, but if they can't join me in match, then I'm still in the same spot where I have to wait in my CQ until the squad fills, wasting a good 10-15 minutes of game time. When I jump over to Dust from EVE for some quick matches, wasting 10-15 minutes defeats the purpose, IMO.
And I really hope these roles include, but not limited to: -Recruitment -Communications (mail/MOTD <-- add this ASAP) -Planetary Management -PC Squad leader
So I can encourage the various CEO's to not give roles to those that insist on spamming Alliance mail like the 13-year-olds that my EVE players think Dust players are. |
