assault guns are easy enough to build. The problem is the conceptual clash between "I want a machinegun turret" and "I want a cannon." It's why my turret builds are set up to accommodate both.

Realistically for orbital artillery/skyfire batteries/etc to be viable there'd need to be heavy tackle bubbling the sh*t out of our targets to hold them down while we fire. Fleet support is the only realistic way fighting EVE ships is viable
