I was thinking. Squad leaders get to choose the location of orbital strikes provided by our Eve pilots, then some assigned Eve pilota should be able to aim at the enemy pilots that are being the most threat to them or anyone they choose just like us.
The Orbital Cannon should have a cool down timer of 2-3 minutes. Maybe more.
But of course, this would be for the long future of the game

Your suggestion doesn't make sense.
Yes we call in a strike on a specific location and our eve pilot answers by firing to the provided co-ordinates. In EVE though a system is so big it could take several minutes to track down where a WT is in system assuming they are undocked.
They could be mission running, in a plex, on another planet, etc and then where they are within relation to the specific point of entry to the plex, mission, satellite is a complete unknown....
If someone is meaningfully threatening your EVE pilot in orbit your EVE pilot is probably (or should be) firing their own guns back at the enemy aggressing them.

Even if you only allowed Dust Mercs to attack people in orbit (which is the only thing that would make sense given the range and directional limitations of what an Orbital Artillery is) the only thing you would be shooting at is a Destroyer, which is a cheap throwaway ship that's not that hard to kill. It would take less time for the EVE pilot to kill the enemy pilot himself than it would be to wait the 2-3 minutes for the Orbital Artillery to fire.

Require a target painter for orbital artillery to be able to nail the target.
If EVE pilots need us to direct their fire there is no reason why the reverse should not be true.

i think it was meant for bigger targets. war barges, cruisers and battleships using medium and large orbital strike ammo types. of course none of that happened or is going to anytime soon, if ever. |

Realistically for orbital artillery/skyfire batteries/etc to be viable there'd need to be heavy tackle bubbling the sh*t out of our targets to hold them down while we fire. Fleet support is the only realistic way fighting EVE ships is viable
