i liked it, the plot was far from a masterpiece but i think it did alright, it was entertaining and didn't have too many gaping plot holes, and everything else from the style, to the fight scenes, to the music was fantastically done. i wouldn't rate kill la kill as one of the greatest anime's ever, but i would rate it as one of the most entertaining. thats what i think of it at least, i understand its something of a polarizing anime.

It also has a pretty awesome soundtrack, IMO. Ragyo Kiruin's theme was great, on particular.
For a song sung in rough German with a strong Japanese accent, to the point that not many people can even understand it, its pretty good.

I liked Kill la Kill just for that edgy go **** yourself cause I can do it without yo damn help cuz I OP attitude that fit in Gurren Laggan so well.

I've now put Ping Pong on my next to watch, I just want to keep watching Tokyo Raven's Dub....

It seems Funimation has a new Dub policy that both amazes and frustrates me.

It's amazing because as anime is released in japanese - it'll also be releases in english!!! Dubbing has now hit mainstream and is going x10 faster in process to get it out as quickly as possible.

Problem with this is.... Funimation's cast of voice actor is the most over-used bunch, CCP's models have probably seen less work around.

An example of this being a problem - Yona of the Dawn. One of the best shows in years, easily one of my favorites for fantastic VA work, amazing and captivating art, and interesting characters that continually makes you want to see more of all of them...

But the Dub, starting at episode 14 for some reason, tramples all over that. The VA they choose for Yona, a very talented english VA, had no ******* reason to be the heroine. The dub took Yona, the best character in the show, and made her hard to watch because when she speaks you want to throw rocks at her.

She was meant to sound cute and absent minded with a hint of budding maturity. The VA for English sounds more like an air-head who got off the wrong slave ship.

it's funny to say, though, Funimations dubbing of Tokyo Ravens is Fantastic. I'm just pissed that good VA companys like the ones in Canada get no work even though they have more talent. Funimations needs to understand they're ******* up the dubs by re-using the same VA's without even tuning there voice to even sound different.

There are some anime's that should never be dubbed.. Yona is a perfect anime all the characters are great. I loved Tokyo Ravens but I'm scared to watch the dub cuz it might ruin it for me.. Then there's some where the dub is better it's like a 50/50.

Tokyo Raven's dub is one of the best out there - I'd recommend it, Blaze is going to be thrilled how good the dub turned out.


But, I was looking more forward to a good Yona of the Dawn Dub... and it's the worst thing ever :(

So stay away from Yona...got it. There's gonna be a group orgy between the guys in Yona fyi. Though add some breasts and they'd all make cute girls even the thunder beast maybe.

Please tell me you're not watching the dubbed version of Yuri Kuma. It's pretty awful.

Anyone else watch Ansatsu Kyoushitsu?

Yessss, finally someone listens. Easily my top contender for my Anime of the Year 2014 and, as you said, is probably up there with some of the best shows I've ever seen in the medium. Just a fantastically executed character drama and the overall art direction (though divisive) is one that I wholly appreciated start to finish. Some of the background art in particular is just gorgeous.

Though Haikyuu!! is less ambitious in terms of overall direction I think if you enjoyed Ping Pong you'll similarly enjoy that show as well. It's another extremely well crafted sports show that focuses on volleyball instead. In contrast with Ping Pong, Haikyuu spends a bit more time explaining the ins and outs of the sport itself while using it as a device to tie in the specific development of the characters. Ping Pong felt like a character drama that used Ping Pong as a convenient device to tell its tale where as I feel like the "Sport" in Haikyuu takes more of a spotlight. The author does a really really good job of balancing a large cast of the characters and the added addition of a team element makes for some interesting directions for the story. Hit it up man.

I might check it out. I wouldn't normally be interested in a sports anime, I just watched Ping Pong because it got rave reviews. To be honest though I'll probably give it a miss, I don't watch much anime so when I do I try to stick to the "classics".

Speaking of which, which FMA should I watch? I hear Brotherhood is a little worse overall but I heard about a certain pitch black plot happening/emotional gut punch that happens at some point and it's got me interested.

Edit: And for when you inevitably answer "Both!", which should I watch first?

Watch the original first, then Brotherhood. Also, this is probably the first time I've heard someone say that Brotherhood was worse. There were a few good points in the original, but it felt incomplete even after watching the sequel movie. If you only plan on watching one, watch Brotherhood. If your going to watch both, watch the original first.

Of course, this is just my opinion, and I'm sure someone else will disagree, but take it as you may.

Just "finished" Spice and Wolf.

I love it. The characters are absolutely great. I know that a character is good when you can't predict their acriosn, but their actions end up being exactly what they would do. That is a sign of good character design and growth.
...The lack of closure is devastating.

It kills me that there isn't a third season, even though word is that the light novels were finished a long time ago. Why did they stop? Surely this show was/is fairly popular, so why didn't they finish the series?

Did I mention Spice and Wolf is my all time favorite anime?

Mine too, it's surprising considering I'm mostly into bouncing boobs but yeah it was done perfectly and huge boobs would have ruined her in my opinion.

Third season is still in the air, the company who made the second season *The show got passed around for a while* spoke a bit on it saying they'd love to make a third season - but they need more fan support, which they have TONS of.

But they did something else - the person who crafted Spice and Wolf's character and stories did another anime - Maoyu.

Log Horizon? Guess I'll have to go find that article that linked Spice and Wolf and Maoyo together, i must of forgotten the contents.

also, I'm starting Ping Pong as of this moment - full review depending on completion or not will be coming afterwords.
