I really enjoyed it. If you can get past their terrible names, the characters have a surprising amount of depth and a good storyline to boot.

Muv Luv was okay, i kinda wish there were more episodes it had a decent setting, and it was an anime with competent soldiers, a rare thing in recent seasons. also that trailer reminded me of this manga http://www.mangareader.net/1407/variante.html
its a good read, but be aware, it is most definitely not a happy one.

I usually just go to the popular tab to see what shows other people are currently watching. If you do end up liking it and get an actual subscription you should then start checking out the simulcasts as those are the ones that are the most current....but they come out once a week just like a TV show.
If you go into the details it'll show you how many episodes the anime has and a short description of it. I usually just browse through these and see if there's anything interesting and add it to my queue. I'll even go into the list of episodes just to look at the art style and the emotions of the characters to see it's similar to other shows that I liked.
This way you can avoid any of the continuous shows (like naruto, bleach, one piece) as they will all say they have 200+ episodes. It also allows you to get a general idea of the genre and such...

I am a sucker for mecha animes. Probably watching Robotek in the early 90's before I knew of the distinction between animation styles, and gundam wing in the late 90's
This season has a few. Not much originality there.
I'm watching them compulsively. Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen has some deus ex crap to keep the shinji-guy as the main character. If it wasn't for the shinji it's be a pretty cool show. But nope, have to have the annoying welp in there because, anime.
Aldnoah.Zero on the other hand was a slow start but it got me hooked. MC has a detached attitude and he's got an counter-point that's emotionally drive. i'm getting a earth fed/zeon vibe from those two. probably more like Hiiro/Zekusu thing going on there.
Anyone else watching A.Z? thoughts on that?
