OOC: Like hell are you going to stop posting Brutus! You're going to keep writing and you're going to like it! I've slayed two essays and a historiography exercise over the past week. This thread is next on the hit list. Let's do this. ________________________________________________________________________________________ "Come along everyone! Did you not hear our gracious host say Armoury? Let us go!" Alixenus immediately walked briskly out of an arbitrarily chosen door and walked off to the left, at which point Sandromin called after him that the correct direction was right. Alixenus turned on his heel and kept walking without missing a beat.
"How long is it going to take to reach our first stop? I'm somewhat pressed for time these days my Lord Sandromin, as I'm sure you can understand and many of the trials ahead seem highly time sensitive." ____________________________________________________________________________________ OOC: Oh and Brutus, am I to assume that in the intervening hours Lombardi spent some time meeting with the leaders of the tent city before going to see Frost? |

(Ooc) oh yeah Lombardi isn't going to just be like "oh hey that kid was yelling and telling people what to do, he's a king." He knew to ask around and he spoke with Draven and the leaders of the different military outfits. (Ooc) |

The giant was met by a familiar voice, coming from behind the wreckage.
"Brutus, is that-- Oh damn. That's one hell of a mess."
Brutus didn't seem to acknowledge him, he just sat there, staring at the soup of human remains.
"You're probably wondering why I'm alone, well... Franklin betrayed us. The Snake was nowhere to be found, he put a gun to my head."
He took the silence as indication for him to continue.
"I did what I had to. I'm sorry. We should abandon the mission. Franklin and the Snake were the most valuable to rebellion, I doubt we could keep going."
...
...
...
"I see this isn't getting through to you. No use convincing you. Can't believe you saw real Silver Brigg, and such an old model at that, he didn't even have magick, poor Perceval."
As Marco stood behind Brutus his skin turned grey, his pupils expanded covering most of his eyes. Steam shot forth from his body, as his limbs began expanding. His arms thickened, tearing his armor, revealing arms of bright silver, two more arms shot from each side of his lower torso, giving him four arms total. Soon all of his body was visible, what was once flesh was a silver machine spewing smoke. Bright red magickal runes appeared across his body. He wasn't much taller, nearly 7 feet at most.
"A perfect soldier, a love letter from technology to the arcane. A sacrifice of my own flesh seemed appropriate at the time. You won't find the Snake of Illusion, and you won't be leaving alive."
Narrett opened his eyes and was greeted by a familiar face.
"Sara, no, you shouldn't be here!"
"I came to save you, they were going the wrong way."
"They?"
"The entire rebellions is here to save you."
"You need to go now, you what he'll do if he catches you."
"Him?"
"That's right, HIM."
"I won't!"
Narrett tries to object, but she covers his mouth as she examines the chains that hold him. She looks relieved.
"These are those plant chains, like last time, that get tighter and suppress magick the more you struggle. You can't just break these."
"At least our inheritance is somewhat useful."
"Yeah."
Sara's golden eyes glow as she begins whispering to herself. Narrett's wounds begin to heal almost instantly. Then for a moment she stops chanting. The white in her eyes, turns black and the small veins turn pink. The chains around Narrett's body begin to grow pale, then crumble into dust. Before he could stand up, Sara falls to her knees.
"Don't use it like that any more! You'll damage your body."
"Until I'm older?"
"Yeah, then you'll be like Sol."
"Yeah, when will we see him again?"
"Soon hopefully."
Narrett picks up the winded Sara and begins carrying her throughout the long corridors of the estate.
OOC: Sorry for not letting you say anything Brutus, I figured after a traumatizing event like that, the silence was necessary. I'll change it if you want.

Brutus stood in silence as Marco spoke. He didn't even pick his head up to acknowledge the shifting man. Even as he advanced toward all he could think of was how many people had died. His wife, his son, his daughter, he had killed collective, his own kind and lesser men,he had slain a machine man, and now Franklin... His friend and guide to this place was dead or dying... For all he knew everyone he had ever cared about was dead. His brothers, his sister, he didn't even know where the remaining logipriest were, or if they were even alive still, he didn't even know if Conyr lived. For all Brutus knew he was the only giant left alive in the world. The last remnant of a land of dead. And soon even he would die, a piece of history being wiped clean from the world. And Brutus was fine with that. The giant figured that he would be better off dead in this world. This harsh place.
And yet... When Marco swung his robotic arm at the giant, he retaliated. The arm slammed into his ribs with a force he couldn't describe. Yet he still retaliated he grabbed ahold of he arm and with all of his might he pulled. The Brigg fell forwards cursing the giant. The giant moved again putting his foot down on the back of the Brigg, while still holding the arm in both of his hands. Even as he felt a hot anger rise from the Brigg he didn't let go. Even as he began to pull arm up ward away from the Brigg, going against any joint or motor in his arm the giant pulled... And he didn't know why...
(Ooc) I'm going to start piggy backing off of your post so the battle isn't completely one sided. I trust your judgement on the situation. And you were right, he probably wouldn't have spoken anyways. (Ooc) |

"Then let us go indeed!" Nexhawk exclaimed and followed Alixenus in the correct direction. While walking, he stared with eyes wide open at the sun and took notice of a large group of phoenix riders heading their way. "And here are my men," he remarked and then turned to Sandromin, "By the way, I would like to know the answer to Alixenus' question as well. Marco didn't really react as the giant managed to yank one of his arms behind him. Instead almost instinctively his other three arms began to push against the ground. Large pistons inside the shoulders began to pump at rapid speed, pushing out puffs of smoke each time. The force of his push gained more and more strength until he was able to push himself up, forcing Brutus to stumble backwards. The arm that was in his hand managed to free itself. Marco, now no longer being pushed down, fell on his back. His face was blank and without mercy. His arms moved fast and smoothly. It was so inhuman it was almost demonic. His torso spun around while his arms adjusted themselves until he faced the ground, perched like a spider. The magickal runes on his arms began to glow as his pistons began pumping again. The ground began to shake and break apart. Large boulders were ripped from the ground and suspended in the air above his head. One by one they began launching toward Brutus.

The giant ducked under most of the boulders, but was hit by a rather large one roughly the size of an average man, in his center of mass. The giant was pushed by the magical energy being sent backward quickly. Brutus however was not going to be beaten by some lifeless machanized man. Digging his heels into the ground the giant began to defy the unnatural force the boulder had. Inch by inch the giant was pushed back, all of his muscles straining under his now blood stained armor. "Give up Brutus. You can't beat me, you may have killed Perceval but he was a dying breed!" Marco shouted now standing. Even though his face showed no emotion, his voice dripped hate and sarcasm. Brutus would still hot speak to this abomination of humanity. "Why won't you speak to me, Brutus we're friends aren't we?" The giant still pushing against the boulder felt a surge of power through it. It began to push harder and the giant began to be pushed back even harder. "Come on Brutus won't you talk to me." The giant would not take this anymore. giant began to push forward now. He bagan to actually take steps toward the mechanical man, even as the boulder pushed harder and harder, even as his muscles screamed at him to stop even as his armor began to dent the giant still pushed. "I'LL KILL YOU MARCO!" Was what Brutus shouted as he hurled the boulder at Marco, even with his magik Marco was still hit by the flying rock. Whether it did anything or not the giant could not tell, but for once when the giant became so enraged, so angry, so hateful, so ballistic he did not black out. No his vision became red and his blood filled his eyes. His entire being cried for the blood of this adversary. He was going to watch as he became a monster. And he was going to love it this time. |

"So you'll just kill me too huh?" Marco scoffed. The boulder only managed to scrape his silver torso.
This time he conjured from the ground several tall rocky pillars surrounding the two of them almost like the walls of an arena. Before Brutus could react he had already begun climbing one of the pillars.
"Yeah, just like Perceval. All he wanted to do was support his sick kid. Some rare disease the boy had. Being a factory worker just wouldn't provide enough money for treatment, so he signed up for an experiment, he was one of the first Silvers. What about all those other soldiers you eviscerated? You knew they couldn't stand a chance against you."
The runes on his arms began to glow as boulders began to rip themselves from the pillar he had latched themselves onto. He continued to speak as they began launching toward Brutus.
"That's why I knew you were perfect for this job. This look in your eyes now, no one else saw it. I did though. Everyone fell for it, this innocent giant stumbles in and decides to protect people that he doesn't even know. When the reality was, they invited a monster with open arms. That look, I've seen it on the battlefield several times before, that lust for killing. That's how I knew you were perfect, there's no way you could protect anyone, not the Snake, not Franklin, not even Sara. Much like a Silver, you're designed to kill, to destroy, to decimate! Don't act like that much isn't true."
He used his magic to hurl the remainder of the pillar at Brutus.

He used his magic to hurl the remainder of the pillar at Brutus.
Brutus back handed some of the smaller rocks away from and ducked under most of the larger ones but the pillar was to large, to fast to get away from. The monolith pinned him to the ground with such force that stars lit up the giants sight and a loud breaking sound rung through his head. A horn on his helm had shattered. The bull horn was broken lying on the ground. He heard the metal man laugh at the giant. And sure enough it was mere second later that he was atop the pillar looking down at the giant. He began to speak, sarcasm dripping from his voice. "Lost your spirt? The mighty Brutus. Lying broken on the ground? The great giant? What a pathetic show you turned out to be. How did you ever survive this long? You are nothing but a weak minded beast and monster. Nothing but..." The metal man kept talking to Brutus. He called him pathetic and other things of the nature. And Brutus just listened to him. He already knew all of this. And he was sick of hearing it. From himself, from Marco, from anyone. "Shut up..." Marco was taken aback by the sudden retort. "Excuse me?" "SHUT UP, DECEIVER! SHUT YOUR METAL MOUTH, STOP YOUR TALKING! BETRAYER! ABOMINATION SHUT UP!" The giant was shouting as he pushed Marco and the pillar off of him slowly. He was growing louder with every word his anger rising. However, this was not the blood rage he had felt before, no this was something different, this was an anger from his very ancestor, giant and half giants and all of those after them, he felt their rage and their hate he felt their sadness and remorse. The giant was no standing with with the pillar in his arms Marco stilled held onto the stone monolith, for some unknown reason. Until the pillar began to shake, then the metal man left back away from the rock pillar as it exploded in a rain of dust and stone. He felt proud of his self, until the giant shoulder checked him to the ground. Marco however had anticipated something like this May have happened he quickly got up, but he soon regretted that decision when the giant stabbed his broken horn through the forearm joint of his too right arm. And in the same motion the arm had been snapped, the giant now held Marcos forearm in his hand. "YOU SON OF A BI-" Marco began to shout until his own fist was slammed into his face. The silver Brigg quickly recovered, far away from the giant. And he noticed something... The giant was not rushing him... It was standing there waiting. Then he noticed the blood that was trickling from giants right leg. And he smiled. Marco May have lost an arm, but he had three more. And repairs were always possible. The giant however had broken a leg. And now Marco was about to break the other one.

OOC: Not at all, you actually did almost exactly what I was going to do.
The pistons in Marco's other three arms began to pump wildly. A Heavy cloud of smoke surrounded him. In this state he could more than match Brutus' physical strength. He waited for the giant to rush him, but to no avail. For a moment his face went blank. Then his black eyes began to widen, his sneer was crooked.
"Nothing, what happened? Where's that strength Brutus. Where is that look in your eyes? You're angry at me, you hate me don't you. DON"T YOU? So why are we holding back. You want to stop me so bad. But you know in this state you can't. Let the hatred consume you again. That bloodlust, that rage. You've seen war, I can see it in your eyes. I once had that bloodlust, in my younger days. You see, Brutus, people like us--- monsters like us, this is what we live for. Don't you feel it, you have no other purpose, you're on this world for one reason, and one reason alone, to kill. The gods themselves bind you to this very nature. So, do it. COME AT ME, DESTROY ME, KILL ME, SHOW ME THE DEMON INSIDE!"
This time pistons in the back of his legs begin to pump with the same ferocity of his arms. He presses his feet against the ground, shattering the earth under him. With inhuman strength he launches himself high into the air, before plunging like a meteor toward Brutus.

Brutus stood listening to Marco. Marco was right about everything and yet... He was wrong. Brutus was not bound to any one. God, man, woman, giant, machine. Nothing told him what he was to be. No one. He was Brutus, defiant yes, angry defiantly, but a monster? Only now in this true defining moment did Brutus realize that this was the only thing he wasn't only now did he realize that the rage and anger he had felt for so long had done the thing that he had vowed no one would do. His rage had chained him down and made him something he wasn't. War and death had shifted him, but not broken him. Only now when he saw Marco leap at him did he finally understand, that there was no such thing as no choice. And he had made his. As Marco plummeted toward him Brutus shifted himself even as his broken leg cried and his hate shouted for blood, he didn't gain his bloodlust. No for once in a long, long time Brutus was calm. And it was this calmness that allowed him to quickly duck under Marco for a moment and then in half a heartbeat he rose just as quickly grabbing a hold of Marco's waist. The silver man let out a gasp as he was thrown on to his stomach. Brutus acting quickly Brutus pinned Marco under him, crushing the pistons in his arms and the joints that moved them. Marco began to laugh manically and he shouted. "NOW BRUTUS KILL ME! Prove your worth!" For a moment the world was silent. And then the giant spoke. "No... You live..." Marco became enraged at the defiance. "How dare you! How dare you do this to me and keep me from death! Kill me you damn weakling." "No... Brutus is not weak. Brutus is strong. Marco, you are the weakling. And Marco will always be the weakling." "HOW DARE YOU!, FOOLISH BEAST! DAMNED IDIOT!" Brutus listened to Marco again, for one last time as the madman screamed and thrashed under the giant.and then Brutus said his last words to the silver Brigg. "Thank you." And with that the giant grabbed the back of Marco's head and slammed his face into the ground. Not so hard to kill him, oh no, Brutus wanted Marco to remember this day forever. He had knocked the Brigg out. And just to make sure he didn't get back up to hunt Brutus immediately, he crushed the joints in the arms, but left his legs intact. Finally the giant got off of the silver man and walked to Perceval. The giant crossed the fathers arms over his chest and closed his eyes. The only thing he could do for the man. He did similar things to the lesser men who's lives he had taken. With his deeds done Brutus picked up his broken horn and held it for a moment, before he began to limp to where Franklin and Marco had gone, to where the snake was. |

OOC: Got too engrossed with Brutus and forgot about my own character, ha!
Thanatos stumbled out of the tent. He frantically looked around for a nearby Diyadian.
"Hello, anyone there? Anyone?"
Out in the distance a royal guard his his lord's cry for help. He waves his arm to catch Thanatos' attention. He quickly runs toward the guard, who was standing by the last bit of wreckage from the crashed facility.
"My lord, what is it?"
"This facility, how many survivors were there?"
"59 sir, including a boy who's mind appears to be poisoned with darkness, he was one of our own. The rest were all normal staff."
"And what of Vektor, he was in there."
The guards face grew bleak. He pointed to one of the platforms. On it, the tattered remains of Diyadian robes, covered in a powdery material.
"I'm afraid The Arch-Alkemist Vektor Gaius, was killed. We've confirmed that his body was decomposed by the experimental iyonic energy."
"How can you be sure it was murder?"
"By the entry point, his left hand. It would be impossible for him to remove it from it's containment unit, without the proper tools and transfer unit on hand. The remaining stock of said items were scavenged from the south eastern branch. It's original containment was found unscathed. No living thing could have removed it."
"Halvedes. Damn it... You may go."
"Aye my lord."
As the guard walked into the distance, Thanatos dropped to his knees. he couldn't help but feel the memories flowing through him.
Light pierced his closed eyelids, the sound around him was muffled. He could make out running water and... a voice?
"Hello, hello sir? Are you alright? Hellooo, can you hear me?"
His eyes opened, but all he saw was moving light. Slowly his vision began to return. He tried to stand up, but stumbled as if he had never walked before. The voice in front of him had caught him. Hoisting him around his shoulder.
"Sweet, Vessaria! We need to get you to a physician. Lying at the bottom of that crater, one would think you fell from the sky."
The man had set him on a rock. Next to a small spring. He reached from the sack on his back and pulled from it a canteen. He proceeded to fill it up with the sparkling spring water.
"Here, drink up"
The man savagely snatched the canteen, and began to drink as if he never had a drop. The bearded man gave him a peculiar look.
"How long have you been out here, are you from one of the floating cities? Did you actually fall, if so how did you survive. Are you even from Diya---"
"S-STOP!"
"Oh dear, I'm ranting again, good thing Franklin isn't here. He'd never let me hear the end of it. Let's start of simple. My name is Vektor Gaius, I am a Tetra Level Alkhemist at the Diyad University of Alkhemy."
"D-did you... did you say... Diyad? This is Diyad?"
"Why of course it is... boy you must have hit your head hard. Quite a miraculous feat, surviving a fall from a floating city. Oh, I almost forgot, what is your name?"
"My name? I--"
He had nothing to say, who was he, what was his name? He was almost ready to slip into the void of nonexistence. But before that, a chant played in his head. He heard it so many times it was all he knew.
Thanatos, Thanatos. Qoi to vu floiae? Thanatos Thanatos. Qoi to vu floiae?
Thanatos Thanatos. Why do you weep?

Brutus Pyrus wrote: Brutus stood listening to Marco.
As Brutus walked away his vision turned to black. An empty blackness that was endless. Then at that moment he heard a voice. An unfamiliar voice that commanded the heavens and dust. The entire universe surrendered to it's voice.
"The seed has been planted and now it has sprouted. It has been watered with your will and with your tenacity. With your raw force, to quell the strings that bind you, to create something that was once nonexistent. The seed has granted you vision beyond sight, and reach beyond reach. Your soul is tempered and your future is yours. See to it that you tend the seed, so that it may blossom beautifully."
And with that the voice disappeared. In the distance of the nothingness, Brutus saw a light. A bright flame(choose the color on for yourself). The flame began to speed towards him at impossible speed. The flame shot deep into his chest. Inside he felt the loving warmth of true freedom.
The darkness around him shattered like glass, revealing the real world to himself once more.
Behind him he heard the screeching and moaning of Marco. Suddenly his eyes began to glow red. His dismantled arm began to glow as well, as it crawled toward his body. He struggled as his body began to heat exponentially, and put itself together.
"ONE OF US WILL DIE, YOU OR ME!"
BOOM BOOM BOOM
The thundering cracks muffle his words. Marco looked toward a figure standing behind a wall. The figure was clutching his arm.
"You're still alive? I told you, bullets will not work."
"They aren't normal bullets. These contain iyo."
"No..."
The figures eyes began to glow a bright lavender. Immediately Marco's body began to slowly disintegrate, tearing itself apart. The figure walked up to Marco who gasped one last time before he was interrupted.
"Of course I can't be prepared for everything, but you, you were too easy"
"Damn you... Franklin..."
All that was left was dust.
"Only we're demons Marco, Brutus isn't like us. I'll make sure he never will be."
"Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

Brutus felt a warmth in his chest like he hadn't before. It wasn't unpleasant, it was like a reminder of his family. A safe warmth he felt when he had been home. He was thinking of the days before in his house he had built. Until three loud explosions sounded behind him. The giant turned quickly, which in retrospect was a horrible idea since it send a spike of pain through his broken leg. Good gods the pain was horrible. Brutus had forgotten what it was like to have broken anything. Next he'd probably have to eat. That would be hard to do, considering the helmet he was encased in only had small slits where his mouth was... Wait what was he doing, thinking of such trivial things when clearly someone had a gun of some kind. Brutus stood up and hobbled back towards the booms. What he saw something that filled his heart with a joy he hadn't felt since the day his daughter had been born. Francis stood in front of the ashen pile that Brutus assumed had once been Marco. The giant overwhelmed with joy galloped to his up fallen companion shouting. "FRANCIS, YOU LIVE!" Francis had merely a moment to lookup in utter horror as a ten foot tall giant in a happiness frenzy trotted over to him. "Brutus no wait-" was all the portly man could say before being picked up in arms the size of chimneys. The giant was over joyed shaking his friend from side to side in his arms. "Brutus.... You....can...stop...shaking...me...please" the giant stopped and held his friend out in front of him. His eyes gleaming. "Brutus thought Franklin died! Franklin is okay!" "Well aside from a completely broken arm, some broken ribs, possible other fractures, some possible internal bleeding and being shaken by a giant, yes perfectly okay. The best I've felt in years." The giant only laughed as he put his friend down. "Franklin we need to find snake now." "Brutus, you're bleeding from your... Everywhere... You can't possibly take on any more assailants in your state, especially not another silver." The giant shrugged. "Today is not the day Brutus dies." Francis just raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" "The fire told me my future is mine. Brutus' death is faraway." Francis, gave up trying to ever understand the giant awhile ago. "And how do you know?" "Brutus just knows. Now we go." With that the giant turned again and began to hobble. Humming as he went. Francis following behind him. |

OOC: Agree with Brutus. Subplots are good. They keep your writing up to snuff while expanding lore/story. Or in my case with Gran Arcadia, it might become central to the main story.
I mean I have:
Gran Arcadia Thanatos/Lionus memories Elder God backstory/ Death explanation Thanatos related Super Special Secret coming SOONGäó Diyad related Super Special Secret coming SOONGäó

//OOC: Yes, I've been thinking about the side plot as well. Just a curious question: would you be more interested in the continuation of the events that are happening in the Ashborns' lands on Praecantaria right now, or should I finally introduce the other three nations to the world, one by one? //End of OOC\\
