I wanted to wait until reading the whole thread before commenting, but this is spot on. Grease up those udders folks, because CCPs gearing up to milk y'all for everything they can get, once again.
As some have said, the kind words of CPM now belong in the time just after FF14. And yet they are here and now. Boil it down and what do you have? Dust will be no more. And what is the answer to all your other questions? Oh, well you know, we can't talk about anything else, nda or whatever. Golly that sounds familiar, that's the sound of something unpleasant in the works. But go ahead and get excited. If you want to practice for next gen Dust, just grab your wallet, dump the contents in the toilet, flush, then call your local cable company and get put on hold. Bam, you are already a seasoned vet for a game that's not out yet.
On a side note, no offense meant to the CPM. I don't know y'all from sh*t, and I respect and understand your commitment to your legal obligation. But I find it hilarious that it's still the same old song and dance. It makes me happy to know that many of the folks who joined after FF14 and defended CCP tooth and nail are losing whatever the f*ck this heap of sh*t is suppose to be **points at Dust**. The responsibility for this farce continuing up until now falls squarely on their shoulders.

And already the first step is becoming a bad one. Cross I would strongly suggest recommending to CCP that they come out and let the community know they will not be getting much of anything in the transfer from game to game.
They should come out and specify what they see as reasonable (exclusive skins, alpha/beta access, some sort of silly icon/profile pic), and then they should come out and specify what they see as unreasonable (ISK, assets, bpos, aurum, so on).
I'm fairly positive a good amount of us understand the limits, and the need for limits, on transferable sh*t. CCPs same tired old game of vagaries and borderline lies is not the way to begin this supposed new chapter for a New Eden FPS, especially not on the very same day the new chapter begins.
Tell CCP that truth, no matter how ugly or brutal it is, will be what wins CCP back many of the folks here. It would be smarter to prepare people now and create a situation that can only get better, as opposed to mumbling nonsense and tall tales that don't (and knowingly won't) pan out, creating a situation that can and will (as we all know) get extremely ugly for everyone involved. |

I understand, and please know I'm not trying to speak ill of you or any of the current CPM. First off, you have been much more active than the CPM of may playing days. Second, being as how I don't play anymore there is only so much I can say that holds any clout.
But while the verbal sparring here on the forums is extremely entertaining (I haven't played Dust since May 2014), I think the community needs to be told in a very frank and upfront manner "do not expect anything more than a skin", and preferably by a CCP tag. Absolutely no beating around the bush, no we will see, none of that. I would feel confident betting money that CCP has already decided what people will get, and that's fine. This game needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, and nothing can interfere with that.
But to rebuild the trust (if CCP cares to hold on to any of the PS3 playerbase, I don't know that they do or don't) believable things must be said. If it was my call-

Hello Dust playerbase,
As you know, we are moving on to a new game, on a new system. Due to massive changes to both engine and mechanics, and the requirement of balance from day one, no assets or progression will transfer. We have an exclusive skin for you, and you will have first shot at alpha. That's it.
End transmission
Then, down the road, other stuff that could be transferred could be viewed as a bonus, and good for morale.
I know I may be over thinking this, and I'm not trying to be an @ss, but if you are gonna close a window to keep out the breeze, you close it all the way. And by you I mean CCP, not you specifically Cross. I genuinely appreciate your responses, thank you. |
