I believe this to be just a bug in animation. As Cyrius pointed out, I can sprint to cancel, throw my grenade, and switch to weapon and fire. To everyone else it just appears that I'm still scanning as a grenade comes down followed by bullets.

900+ Hp gallente logi here, mostly armor. SR kills me in 1.5 sec, 2-3 MD in 2 sec, AR in about 1.5, sniper 2 rounds 2 sec, forge instant vaporization. Seems like all is fair in the world, if anything everything is op.
