I suggest you stop now before it is too late. They are dragging you into a trap Dreis, that anime is not safe. If you continue, may you stay sane...

Kail Mako wrote:14 episodes into Clannad, and y'know what? I think that's enough. I finished the Fuko and the Kotomi arcs and boy was I bored. The MC they could've replaced with literally any other anime protagonist and everything would've been done the exact same except twice as interesting. Nagisa, Ryou, Tomoyo, and Kotomi are just meh. I don't like Sunohara. They should've just called him punching bag for all he does. Kyou earns some points, but only because she might be a siscon. Fuko was cute, but of course they got rid of her. Nagisa's parents however I actually genuinely enjoyed, but they're just side characters.
The show is also a mess. The first few episodes had very weird jump cuts, and the balance between drama and comedy wasn't very well executed. The comedy on it's own was fine, though nothing earth shattering. The feels were there, but nothing like I expected them to be. The highest point is the Dango song. I love the Dango song.
Clannad can go sit in the corner of shows I didn't finish along with Watamote and Gurren Lagann.
After Review: Yea, I know I was harsh, but chances are I'm going to end up finishing all of these shows at some point. Who knows, maybe I'll learn to appreciate them. Next is... (Drumroll Please) KANCOLLE!!!
YOU HAVE TO FINISH IT!!!!! THE ENDING IS SADDDD!!!!! I KNOW IT GETS BORING BUT DOOOOOOOOOOOOO ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT! XD
also watamote is good, funny as hell in my opinion and only 12 eps might as well finish it..

Another series down.
Date A Live season 2: 7/10
Surprised to find myself enjoying this one as I didn't particularly care for the first season. However, the harem/dating aspects have been toned down for season 2 as the focus shifts instead towards a powerful enemy appearing and the protagonist taking a more active role as a hero. The star of season 2 for me, though, is Kurumi despite her limited screen time. Can she be saved? Does she want to be? Does she want the hero dead? Miku's storyline is also interesting and is given plenty of time to develop, though the sudden change in her character is a bit too extreme for my tastes and appears only to have been added on for comedic purposes.
Mike Patton is the greatest singer in music. Proof

Same with Gurren Lagenn... except I've no idea why you dropped this show, it's so epic epic isn't even epic enough of a word to describe it.
Incoming pilot reviews: 6 Flowers is taking my top spot this season. More to come soon :3
I only watched three episodes of Gurren Lagann. The reason I dropped it is because I thought the main guy was insufferable. Too whiny. Honestly, I doubt I even made it to the good parts.
KanColle: This is exactly what I expected it to be. Actually, that's a little innacurate. It's exactly what I hoped it to be. It's fluffy, the animation is fantastic, and it's just so, so much fun. Naka melts my heart, and can't I just pretend that it's yuri? Just little bit? I'm only two episodes in, so hopefully it'll stay this awesome. I also love that fact that the "Admiral" is implied to be you.

I have just finished The World is Still Beautiful, on Crunchyroll.
Why did no mention this show before? It's funny, great cast, great romance, and leaves the world open to the imagination of what else could be in here knowing what we do.
Story - 6/10 Ever wanted a loli king? Ever wanted a sadist tsundere loli king? How about a sadist tsundere loli king who just recently conquered the world matched with a beautiful spunky girl who don't give a **** what others think? Look no further! It's a recipe for humor and unexpected drama as these two protagonist of our story bump heads with each other and everyone around them.
The King of the Sun, as he is named after his land, sought the hand in marriage of a noble blood line from the Principality of Rain, said to posses strange powers that can call rain. He didn't care which princess, all known for there beauty, he just wanted the power they posses.
After a life or death game of rock paper sisscors between the princesses, our female protagonist is sent on her way to meet her new husband, but before she does she tours the country.
The Rain country is very poor, underdeveloped, and low populated. Even so, she didn't expect the people of the sun to be taken care of so well by there king, who may of taken the world by force, but he treated his people well improving irrigation and other important facilities to maintain there daily living.
They loved him for that, but they also feared him, for his anger was quick to come.
When she finally meets the king - he isn't what she expected being torn a part by different sets of rumors about the same man. And when he meets her - she holds nothing back, and lands her in prison.
Problem with the story is that it failed to explain a lot of context and backgrounds - like why the king even wanted to marry anyone to begin with, he could just force the country to do as he wants with his military might.
Characters - 8.5
music - 6
VA's - 6
Over-all - 7.5 - i recommend this show to romance/comedy fans. |

And this season I'm watching Wakaba Girl. Not sure if It'll hold my attention, but I'm liking this one a bit better than others I have seen recently. Ooooh boy... OOOHHHH BOY!!! OMG OMG OMG!! I'm so glad that you asked this. "Cute girls doing cute things" is my absolute favorite genre. Yup. Now then: Yuru Yuri. No other show can even come close to it's insane content and over the top gags. For sheer comedic content this is my number one pick. I hold it in my top five shows of all time. I can't wait for season three. The only critique I have for the show is that it really doesn't seem to be going anywhere. In the first and second seasons they literally go through the same school year twice.
Ofc I've seen many other good ones including, but not limited to:
Azumanga Daioh: One of the first ones I watched, and as I understand it, one of the starters of the genre. This one is a freaking classic in my mind. If you haven't seen it, uhm... Go watch it. Seriously, stop reading this stupid gushing and go watch it.
K-on: I like music, so this one was good. Unfortunately the music wasn't as big of a focus as I hoped, but it made up for it with sheer cuteness. I was a little afraid of the second season because I heard it wasn't so good, but I liked it as much as, if not more than the first.
Sakura Trick: This one is a little different. Honestly it does give a little in the "doing cute things" department, but it contains massive amounts of yuri. If anyone ever told me they wanted to watch a yuri show this is the first thing I'd direct them to.
The military ones like Strike Witches, KanColle, Upotte, and Girls und Panzer are all very good. Upotte is the weakest of the four, and also probably the least cute. Girls und Panzer I'd say is the strongest. The tank battles are epic, and the music is one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard for an anime. Strike Witches probably doesn't count for the "without ecchi" part, but eh.
Love Live!: Once again with the music theme. This time though the music is given a satisfying amount of focus. The characters are also all very well rounded, and this show has one of the best endings ever. It really feels like a whole story.
I'm sorry, I think I got a little over excited.

Finished another show:
Akikan! 6/10
The best way to describe this show would be "fluff piece." Considering the fact that the story revolves around juice cans that sometimes harbor women (Akikan) that emerge when they are drunk...yeah, it should be fairly obvious that this show is chasing after comedy. And yet, aside from the OVA episode, the humor largely falls flat. A better protagonist would have saved the show but instead we're left with someone who isn't particularly funny and/or heroic, which only hurts the ability to care about the supporting cast and their interactions with him. Perhaps the best character on the show is Gigolo, a pathetic loser that serves no point other than to be routinely humiliated in his efforts to declare his love for a lesbian.
Currently watching: So, I Can't Play H! (Odd, Hulu listed this show as being TV-14...hehehe)

Another show in the bag.
So, I Can't Play H!
9/10
Absolutely loved this show. Some good humor, a light-harem storyline (contest is mainly between two interests, though the winner is obvious) and, best of all, the twist involving the ramifications of the "heroic" actions taken by the protagonist all come together well in a concise run of 12 episodes (not counting the OVA.) As with many other shows, there's a few dangling plotlines that could be expanded upon if future episodes are made, but the show wraps up nicely enough to leave viewers satisfied (though I would argue that the ending is too saccharine-sweet for my tastes.) Animation is beautiful throughout.
My biggest complaint would be how Lisara is presented as anything but a strong character when it comes to actually fighting; seriously, she runs out of energy within ten-twenty seconds and must rely upon Ryosuke to help her win the battle. Yes, this does enable Ryosuke to take on the role of power-fantasy hero but there's no reason that it should be done at the expense of Lisara's strength as a character.
Now I'm off to find the next show to watch before I'm off to work!

Just finished punchline the other day, not going to get into specifics and do a review but I'll give it scores
Story - 8/10 What can I say, its pretty good? Story is unique and lots of plot twists that will make you dizzy confused. Lots of similarities to Kill la kill - you think you know whats happening then a plot twist happens and mind = blown.
Characters - 7.5/10 Character development is there but its still lacking (i.e who the cat is)
Music - 7.5/10 I didn't even remember most of the ost that played during the show though the op and ed were quite good. *edit* I just did a quick look over the ost an it isnt bad, if anything it is actually good if not amazing. If these songs had more bgm time it would not have been a 7.5
Enjoyment - 8/10 There was 2 scenes of nekos mating.
Overall - 8/10 Aside from the panty shots being aweso... oh who am I kidding the amount of panties shown is TOO DAMN HIGH (it went from weird -> funny -> face palm worthy). If you can handle the ecchi, then I recommend the show for you especially if you have watched and highly rate kill la kill.
I said I wouldn't do a review but I ended up doing one anyway... sigh Also my first anime review though it was on accident.

Charlotte is my current anime of the season and more people should be watching it.
Charlotte - 01
I went into this with absolutely nothing in the way of expectations and came away with the show shooting itself to the top of my list of currently airing shows. I absolutely love the ridiculousness of the setting presented. The visual gags with the 'teleporter' guy tackling the protagonist at ridiculous speeds, the fact that the powers presented are all hilarious incomplete in one way or another, or the whole thing of building up an overly dramatic main character only to systematically break him down at every step. A surprisingly charming and genuinely funny show! It takes a decidedly "X-men" style setup in which you have teenaged protagonists discovering that they have powers, exploiting this fact in really interesting and decidedly juvenile ways, while eventually dealing with the realization that they're not the only ones in the world who have abilities in the sense that they do. Don't miss out on this.
Join me on my journey of highs and lows with the first two episodes of Classroom Crisis!
Classroom Crisis - 01
This is fun.
The synopsis of this one definitely had me a bit worried, I was concerned that the SciFi space background that the story was set in would ultimately take a backseat to whatever highschool drama they wanted to insert to appeal to whatever demographic they were aiming for. I came away instead with a surprisingly optimistic view of the way it handled that part of the show.
Our protagonist, for once, is actually the teacher of the class and I didn't realize how something as subtle as taking the main point of view away from some generic self insert student to a generic self insert authority figure leading the class could feel so refreshing. I can almost forgive the show for the hamfisted style of character development near the beginning where they clearly layed out the protag's hopes, dreams, and overarching goals in a single sequence. Fortunately that was probably the only clear low point in the episode and the second half delivers on what I had picked up the show to begin with for.
The ******* space part. The second half has the series delving into the main conflict of the episode as first introduced in the show's opening moments. A mission that has our characters making use of their prototype ship in order to stage a rescue mission. While certainly the show isn't what I'd call a "looker", with a lot of the background art being serviceable at best, I found the moments where you're switching between ground control and the view of the cockpit to actually be quite exciting. While I could certainly criticize the "SciFi" aspect of the execution of the mission (an asteroid belt with that much debris would most certainly land you in a situation where any number of small objects would kill you in moments which directly conflicts with a protag who values "Safety First") I found myself ignoring all that because this show is in space. And space is ******* cool. What it solidifies in this moment is something that I really value in shows like this though, that this isn't a one man show. That our protag is going to ultimately be leaning on the strength of others in order to achieve his goals. Also the transfer student is great.
Don't go in expecting something on the level of Planetes in terms of attention to detail or competency in its execution though, cus this **** aint that.
Classroom Crisis - 02
A couple of highschool kids got together one day 70 years ago and decided to revolutionize human space travel. Sure, why not?
The small amount of time the show spent this episode exploring the fun dynamic of having a transfer student thats simultaneously your boss and the little dash of internal company politics were about the only positive things this thing had going for it. What we're greeted with for the other 90% of the episode is some of the most hamfisted character development I've ever seen. It's 2 parts exposition dump and what feels like someone reading every defining character trait off of a fact sheet for every significant character existing in the show. "Lazy" doesn't quite capture the magic that comes with being bombarded with every detail about the world, its technology, and the internal motivations of all of its players in a single 15-20 minute sequence in what is literally presented as a documentary that other, even less important characters are watching while absolutely nothing goes on anywhere.
So yeah, that sucked.

I wasn't a fan of Punchline myself but thanks for the review. Personally I found the show to drag for far too long with the whole random ghost thing for me to really stay invested for very long. It was always flirting with the point of not being actively bad enough for me to drop while doing nothing exceptional to actually get me 'excited' to see each episode. Dropped it the moment the dude gets back into his real body and discovers his mission.
