What's a good anime that's on Netflix.
Here is my taste.
I loved the DevilMan movies. I loved the Vampire Hunter D movies. The original and the reboot. I loved the original Ninja Scroll movie. I loved Ghost in the Shell, just the movie, the series was terrible. I loved Soul Eater. I liked Desert Punk. I liked Fist of the North Star.
I've tried watching lots of anime and most of it comes off as non-cohesive garbage, with terrible writing, that I assume is targeted towards people with attention deficit disorders.
So....Netflix, anime. Help.

I am so very, very tempted to recommend bad shows because of how that came across.
I have no clue what's actually on netflix though. First thought was "Slayers" though. lol.

the "lol" was because Slayers is an excellent example of a show for people with ADD. also a bit sad it isn't up anymore, watched the majority of the series on netfix (it's a classic)
If Saiyuki is on Netflix watch it. It's one of the best Journey to the West animes ever. SAO is amazing. 4 story arcs, spoiler alert: each arc is worse than the previous.
Haven't updated this since August, a few days after I created the account, but http://www.anime-planet.com/users/PhantomQueen/anime/watched?sort=rating&order=desc check for the shows with 5 stars
Voices of a Distant Star is by far my number 1 favorite. Total tear-jerker.
Ignore my love for Hunter X Hunter. The 2011 series, that is on netflix goes by too fast for someone that didn't see the 1999 version or read the manga
Baccano is the only anime that I've ever purchased with real money.

I used to have a very extensive anime collection when I was younger...it was on VHS if that's a clue.
I moved around a lot and those boxes wound up somewhere I wasn't.
I ran into a friend a few years back that said an old old room mate of mine (the guy was a total douche) had sold him two boxes of anime.
After 10 years, I didn't really care to get them back. I do miss those DevilMan tapes with the cool plastic cases they were in, but I don't even have a VHS player anymore.
Don't get me wrong I like the whimsical stuff.
Remi Tries Anime vol. 1 episode 1
Sword Art Online
Watched the first two episodes and part of the third.
It opened strong. I liked the premise and there was an unlimited possibility for coolness. Then in episode two they lapse time by a month. Everyone is looking for the first boss. They find him and he's a big dumb looking kangaroo thing. It was lame. Started watching the third episode and stopped when it starting getting progressively infantile.
Good: Cool premise, lots of video game trope winks and nudges. Bad: The protagonist narrates all the exposition because the writing is weak. The CG mixed in with the artwork doesn't look right.

Just stop paying for netflix and get a subscription to crunchyroll.
Want to try it out for free for a month? Go to crunchyroll.com/sfnerd It's even an app for PS3/4 if that's what you watch on. I then recommend going to the "simulcasts" section or "popular" to see what other people are watching.
If you binge, you can probably finish at least a dozen shows before the month is over. Check through a few pages back in this thread to see some older lists if you need to.

not to mention crunchyroll is real cheap and easy to use. sometimes it does not want to work right on the ps4 or ps3 and that gets annoying, but otherwise, it has been well worth it. especially for the new shows like trinity seven. |

I really liked the first few episodes but then they stopped using their powers so much and it turned into the generic harem "we can't let the guy figure out we're all secretly trying to get with the guy without actually going for it ourselves"
Still amusing.

I see something more with this show that Trigger is doing a spectacular job with. Take for instance our little love comedy that immediately turns into a furiously serious feels trip with a little expository into the MC's mind about coming up with nicknames for powers. It's not something that are just random phrases, but rather things that paint a picture with hidden meanings and intentions waiting to be shown.
Further in the show, you start learning about our characters, many of which point to possible dark plot elements.
I initially added it to my queue because it's Studio Trigger, action, and hilarious comedy. It however stays in my queue because I sense this could have deeper plot points than what you see on its surface, Shayz.

If we're not going to buy the manga's and VN's or the anime DvD's, the least we could do is get the subscriptions. That's how I look at it, anyway.
And Hulu technically has more anime then Crunchyroll, but Crunchyroll's list has a lot more quality.
As for netflix shows -
My Little Monster - A must see for romance/comedy/drama fans.
Magi - Action/Drama at it's finest, second season isn't dubbed :(
Deadman Wonderland - hahaha, yea. :3
Gurren Lagenn - probably one of the greatest anime of all time. Just so damn epic, lol.
SAO - Best female character <3
Psycho Pass - Very strong story.
Noragami - A show about japanese gods and how they mingle, it's pretty good, love the music.
The Devil Is a Part Timer - Comedy at it's finest, lol.
Attack On Titan, Fate Stay Night - just awesome action/drama
Blue Exorist/Vampire Knight - great Horror anime, shame Rin isn't on Netflix anymore to finish this trio.
Ouran Host Club - personal favorite, don't judge me, lol.
Arpiego of blue steel - it's a CG anime, but it has great characters and story.
Legend of the Legendary Heroes - I WANT SEASON 2!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okami-san and her 7 compasion - A romance/comedy, good for fans of the genre <3
MADOKA MAGICA - Prepare to have your mind blown, several times.
Katoura-san - A cute romance about mind reading, lol.
Eden of the East - Just a damn good show all around. |

Not a big fan of studio ghibli, i find the stories too much of a middle ground trying to cater to everyone. on the other hand, showing people miazaki films is a good way to get them into anime. It just sucks that Disney owns the rights to them in the US.

Or maybe support the industry? I pirate the VAST majority of my anime but I'm not going to steer anyone away from using the legit services and Crunchyroll is definitely looking like a pretty good value these days for what you get. Most airing/ongoing shows and a decent backlog of shows to burn through in your spare time.

So let's talk anime. Unmarked Spoilers for these Shingeki no Bahamut episodes so fair warning.
I'm not sure if I'd rank this as my top show after catching up on things but it's certainly maintained itself as a thoroughly entertaining watch regardless.
Shingeki no Bahamut 3 -
Definitely felt like the weakest episode thus far. I get that it served a purpose in fleshing out some of the Knight's and the girl's background but with respect to things happening outside of character development land things fell resoundingly flat. The whole zombie angle they pulled just felt like something thrown in to give Favaro and crew something to fight while the actions of the "villain" of the episode never invoked any sort of emotional response. Production values on this one as a whole looked like they were a couple notches lower.
Shingeki no Bahamut 4 -
Decidedly more entertaining! Something about the dynamic of a battle at sea just riles me up, and seeing a combination of that and the inherent silliness of the situation that they found themselves in, right in between a battle between fish men and zombies just felt like a return to form after the less interesting happenings in episode 3. And as a welcome surprise I'm glad that they were willing to add zombie girl to the team, hoping they flesh her out when she teams up with Favaro in the next ep. Still a bit disappointed at the dip in the production values though ...
Shingeki no Bahamut 5 -
Don't know if there's much else I can say other than that I enjoyed it. Can't say I'm too sold on the design of the Cerberus but from a character point of view I've quite enjoyed the transformation that we've seen in Favaro as we've progressed.
Shingeki no Bahamut 6 -
I love that Favaro is still fundamentally an ******* even after going out of his way to save everyone in the last episode.A slower paced episode overall but I like more attention on the Angel side of things. Michael's battle form in particular is prettyyy ******* great and the Hero of humanity looks OP as ****.

Damn, I'm really gonna have to read through this 80pg thread now. Bored one day I watched Knights of Sidonia, I thought it was pretty good. Started reading the manga series online. Psycho Pass seemed cool as well. Liked that Harlock Space Pirate movie for another. If these were listed sorry I just clicked on last pg of thread, but I'll go back and read. Stuff rekindled old flame, bought drawing tablet and Manga studio 5 to play with.
As far as netflix anime, as I ain't quite what you would call young, what are the more adult oriented ones out there. Not hentai, and not trying to watch pokemon and stuff either, but you know what I mean. I'll dig through this thread as I'm sure there's an answer in the 80 pages but, If you got one on top of your head thats good I'd like to check it out.

Fate/Stay Hooked into my Veins : Unlimited Budget Works -
Thought I'd go ahead and put some thoughts down on the currently airing Fate/Stay Night up until this point. First and foremost Ufotable is ******* absurd with the amount of money they have to be throwing at this series. It is, without question, gorgeous and the extent they go to embellish a lot of the fights is amazing. Like look at this **** :
http://sakuga.yshi.org/post/show/10147/animated-artist_unknown-atsushi_itagaki-effects-fa
That **** is amazing. It conveys the inherent ridiculousness of the Servants and their battles in a way that the VN couldn't ever really touch. Choreography is absolute top knotch. But from there I can only feel like Ufotable is just making the best out of a work that's inherently inferior to Fate/Zero. Maybe not so much in the animation and fight department but everything about the character interactions and tone of the series is distinctly ... less serious. You don't get the insight in Fate/Stay Night about the other Master's and their motivations that you get in Fate/Zero, the dynamic between Servant/Master within the scope of achieving their own larger goals is weaker and the few perspectives that we are privy to are just ... not as interesting. Shirou is just more or less fumbling around as he slowly picks things up. Rin is the ultimate Tsundere who can't decide whether she wants to help Shirou or murder him, her motivation for getting involved is just ... to win. While there were certainly examples of this in Fate/Zero (Waiver just wanting to prove himself, Caster's Master just finding a book and wanting to murder people) it was balanced out by the almost objectively more interesting cast of characters whose perspectives you were also exposed to. When half your characters are highschool aged kids who are in it for really superficial or pety reasons it just doesn't convey that feeling that a war for the most powerful wish granting object in the world is really at stake here.

Just started watching "Your Lie In April" as someone suggested it on here.
I have to say, it's the first show in a LONG time to have me constantly smiling. Also, I seriously need to look up the soundtrack for this thing. The music is just so beautiful, and I'm not really a big fan of this kind of stuff either.
All of the other shows have already been talked about for this season.
I guess I could bring up Akame ga Kill
In one of the last few episodes they killed off my favorite character of any anime ever. I don't usually feel so emotional about main character deaths (I actually think they bring a lot of excitement), but this one pissed me off.
It's sad to watch an anime about two opposing factions fighting for their own beliefs while the show gives you the perspective of both sides instead of just the good guys. They make you care about every individual character and try to connect you with them to the point that even watching the bad guys die makes you question who the evil ones are.
