I don't own a gaming PC nor do I plan on getting one anytime soon, but I do wish CCP the best in this project.
Dust, while not the most top quality piece of work out there, will always hold a special place in my heart regardless. My first FPS I've ever played (and only game that became a strong addiction which led to a bittersweet relationship lmao) and super glad I decided to give one of those "simple-minded shooter games" a chance, haha.
I've had the amazing experience of gradually climbing through corporation ranks, from recruiting blueberries that grew on me, to managing the corporation wallet, till finally ending up as a director under one of the few who I can truly call my bestest friend, Titan-God - CEO of THE-TITANS. Remained its director for quite a while until the entire corporation proceeded to merge with Vengeance Unbound, being demoted to Logistics Officer due to VU's current CEO at the time having a lack of trust towards me. Wanting to feel like a merc fresh into freedom (and bluntly just disliking VU), I resigned, left the corp, and decided to go my own path from there on out, ultimately ending up with the Nyains and just having an all around great time with the JP community. My second home, though I still frequently squaded with Titan-God on the side. IRL duties unfortunately got in the way much much later, so having almost no time to invest into Dust, I labeled myself as retired and ended up in Internal Error.
So a gigantic thank you to CCP for giving me endless hours of good times, and for allowing me to meet the most awesome folks from around the globe, from Europe to Asia to Oceania (in which two newer blueberries goofing around in that desolate server encountered a lone me once, hit me up with a squad invite, and it just took off from there. Some of my greatest friends ever, those two. We still talk frequently to this day).
Godspeed guys. And in the meantime, I'll continue to read EVE: Empyrean Age and delve into Templar One once I finish the prior. 7o

Going to agree with Ghural here, the news was not unexpected. I feared that eventually Dust would die, mainly becuase of the PS3.
In saying that, and though I am a "retired" merc, I will miss this game. To be honest, I have an emotional attachment. Dust was there for me when I was going through some terrible sh.t in my life. Hell, if there is anyone who used to serve with me back in the Rough Riders... corp, just thanks for helping me through. I know I didn't talk about it, but just being a part of the team was enough to get me through.
Anyway, CCP, don't leave me waiting for too long, and patch things up with Microsoft would ya? I want Legion-Not-Legion on my Xbone! (Come at me PS4 Fan Boys!)

... so i was right,this is where dust 514 begins and it ends....I knew it would eventually die,and to be honest while its sad,devolers for the new game wont have as many limitations for software and hardware when making the new game,i think that's why dust 514 was so buggy on the ps3,becuse (1. you were running it on a dying console with very limited hardware Power(think cpu,ram,and graphics),and (2.the fiasco with certain pc hating console players overreacting at eve fanfest(just my opinion on on no.2 btw)if these two conditions were non existent,i think dust could of survived and turned out to be a great game,alas just like in histories of the past,nothing can go against the sands of time(in other words,nothing lasts forever),on the upside I had lost hope that ccp had scrapped project legion due to them dropping the trademark,now my hope is renewed(take that pc hating console loyalists(just a joke btw,i meant no offense to any console players,loyal or not).

First off: Thy for finally announcing what i thought was much overdue.
I'm a PS3 consolero by heart, in fact i only bought it for Dust -
BUT: As i'm playn eve online and now see all the next gen engines rolling in on the PC like ac/dc, it makes me proud that CCP has decided to go that way.
1. to keep the future proofing fearutres/engines etc. that we as a community need to keep going
2. to learn from all the up and downs we had with dust AND somewhat Legion.
Need to know more IMO what is planned for the regain/bonuses/implementations for ex-dust players in the new game!
Looking forward to fanfest, excited as hell! |

any chance we can get a small patch to meta lock out on pubs tell you close the servers, as fun as its been for the last bit of time getting nothing but proto'ed and officer stomped, non-stop!
allow all apex suits, any gun up to meta 3 would be nice, any equipment up to meta 3 but not sure if scanners have a meta lvl off the top of my head

ive got a beats audio special edition notebook pc,with 8gb ram,4 gb graphics processor, a cpu with1.2 GHz minimum speed,up to 1.7 GHz max turbo boost and windows 8.1,and im able to play many games,most on medium,graphics, and some on high graphics,as long as the new game is released with the minimum OS requirements being 8.1,i may be able to play it,not including the minimum hardware requirements.

I am so late to the party, but as for the irrational response that you were dreading I think you should look forward to it  .
Good or bad it just shows how passionate people are about this game and community, and as for the whole timing I do agree that they REALLY should have gave a way longer timeline Fix The Game First then announce this after the Fix!!
Here is my Happy Thought They at least stopped taking our Money, but only after they gorge themselves like a fat person at a buffet, because they knew they were gonna do this Long before the announcement why not then.
