Not wishing to start a flame war here as all corps that train new players are cool and I want more of them, however there is is a slight misinterpretation here that I believe needs clarifying in the interests of full disclosure.
We didn't lose 63% of our players. I know exactly where they are. I kicked them back to NPC corps.
As anyone who has been in D-UNI will know, I do an inactivity purge on the 1st of every month for players who haven't logged on in the previous month. I just did another one on Sunday on players who hadn't logged on in the whole of October which was 248 players in total.
There are couple that I don't kick as I know that the players have died and so I give their Merc's a permanent memorial in D-UNI.
I do the purge so as to keep the member base active and fresh. If you were to go to dustcharts.com you'll see that we have 900+ members and I can assure you that all have been active in the last four weeks.
The month prior to 1.4 I didn't do the purge as I was wanting to do a check on retention figures that needed a larger pool of players for the numbers to be accurate. As soon as the next purge was due I kicked all inactive players just prior to 1.5, a total of 700+ players. This was the month we nearly touched 2000 members, but as a third of them were inactive I didn't feel it appropriate to try and claim the first 2000+ pure Dust Corp.
As far as i know I'm the only CEO in Dust to have such a regular purge. And If I didn't we'd have about 4000 members now. But numbers have never been that important to me, a visibly active player base is.
And a fully working Corp UI.

CoD answer: Get good. JUST LIEK UR MOM!
My answer: Seriously, it's all practice. On a good match where I'm running dedicated Logistics and actually being good at the game and not messing around (90% of matches I play with you guys are just me literally struggling to have fun in the game), I make 2k+ WP.
It all just comes from lots of practice, but a couple things help. And by help, I mean make OR break the game: -Don't be a newbie Scout. -Carry a GEK -Be a Proto-Heavy -Stack Complex Damage Mods -Run with a squad of 12 via q-sincing -Spam equipment so much it lags out the entire enemy team
And most of all: Good luck!

Is this what you teach new players? Because what I'm getting out of it is this:
- Telling them not to play a specific class, rather than letting them experiment.
- Forcing them into the mindset that "Gank-Tanking" your dropsuit is a good idea.
- Forcing them to use one specific primary weapon, rather than promoting different types.
- You're openly supporting, and suggesting the use of equipment spam, to cause the enemy team to lag out of a match.
The latter being an exploit of game mechanics which creates an unfair environment, and can cause players to leave DUST 514 completely due to multiple bad experiences. This honestly makes me sick, you claim to be helping new players, and yet you're teaching them that exploiting glitches and bugs are OK.
You've got no respect from me anymore.
Ironyimation Inception wrote:Also forgot to ask a question, how do I increase my war point count per game? I can usually get 1k war points on a domination match but I can never get those 2k or even 1.5k. Irony is a sad panda.
If there is one thing that Ghost here has said that was correct. It's practice does make perfect.
Stick to the class that you want to run and enjoy running. Create multiple (cheap) suits, with various fittings and test them out solo and then with a squad. Eventually you'll find a fitting / weapon composition that works for you, and one that works for a squad (if your solo doesn't fit squad tactics.)
Once you do find that fitting and weapon composition that works for you (both in a squad and solo) begin trying new tactics, find the advantages and disadvantages of your weapon comp.
When I first started, I was a sniper and I was okay with the sniper rifle. I eventually got bored of running a sniper fit constantly and started working into a ground pounding AR user. At first I was using the fully-automatic rifle and kept dying a lot until one of my friends and a fellow D-UNI member suggested that I try using a Tac-AR. After about a month of practice, careful fitting, and carefully allocating my skill points, I was able to drop into a match, solo, with an assault suit and go roughly 22/6 on average. With a squad, I generally hit 25/4 on average. So roughly 1.5k WP solo and 2.1K WP in a squad (though if I'm with a squad, I'm sometimes leading that squad.)
I generally run Skirmishes so there's a bit more chances for WP gain. But as I don't know you're style of play, and preferred class, I can't really give out pointers on how to improve your WP gain. If you're constantly hitting 1K WP in a Domination match, you're obviously doing something right.

Hmmm...I am sure that if we put our 2 mil SP players against yours, we would win every time because we teach our guys to win. We teach them to do exactly what the best players and corps do so they win, too. Do you guys know what "pew pew pew" is? No? That's because ya'll don't truly pursue knowledge near the same way we do.
We like them to know that heavies are not good right now, commandos are useless, callogis are the still one of the best suits, gallogis are the best tanks, and HAVs aren't worth speccing into.
I mean, honestly, I'm not too suprised because our mentors and instructors are all highly qualified PC vets. Lightning is one of the top 3 scout shotties in the game, Grease is the best sniper since Gem Cutter...shall I go on or have you had enough yet. Let's be honest, if you didn't have districts, you wouldn't keep any of your players because your curriculum is absolute garbage, your corp is run as a dictatorship, and you no longer train newberries to high standards. I've also heard from some of my Eve friends that E-Uni doesn't respect ya'll at all. I was in your corp for a few days checking out how newberries were treated. I even put an alt in to see what you did. I said, "can someone explain to me how this game works?" and even with over 50 people on, nobody responded. That INCLUDED some of your 'instructors'. I saw other newberries ask similar questions and your officers were too busy playing Farmville to fulfill your duties to the community. Perhaps ya'll should make some alts and check out how we do things. We answer EVERY QUESTION that comes into our chat in a timely manner.
I'd also like to add that I've seen a lot of D-Uni guys running around battles with swarm launchers when there are no vehicles and going 1/8 bc they don't know any better.
Honestly, I'm flattered that you've taken notice of us, though.
Let me take this moment to inform all of the newberries who may be reading this that if you want to be part of a dictatorship, join Dust University; if you want to be part of a community, join the Learning Coalition chat channel. No tax. No switching corps. No politics. Also, any money we make goes right back to our students, rather than sit in our corp wallet while we play Farmville.

And not only that, IF, by chance, you saw a bad instructor in the LC, that's not how all of them are. Each instructor teaches in a different way. I prefer to do it via voice.
At the time, I was VERY angry because currently this game is complete and utter bull-crap, because GEKs and exploits win out over any other type of gameplay. If you tried to speed-tank, good luck, because hip-fire from an AR could kill you.
About 90% of my post was sarcasm and hatred, so would you please step down, because I promise you I know what I'm doing.

Quick question, reading back, when on earth did I gain Naedus's respect? I've never spoken to you, you've never seen me work, and you've never seen me play. I think, that maybe, I didn't have is respect in the first place. That's what I think.
But, and I'm moving back to my previous point + adding something to it: GTFO unless you know all the facts, and just assume that if I say something that is so wrong it should be a crime, that I'm not being serious.
I would never push a player towards a certain playstyle, weapon, or tactic, and I ESPECIALLY would not want them to start exploiting. I hate exploiters, so why would I actually encourage it? Not to mention I'm skilled into every one of the suits/weapons. The only thing I'm NOT skilled into is Enforcer tanks, but I know enough to know they're not really great. Here's basically my run-down of DUST at the moment, and why you need to think for a second.
1) Log in. 2) Start match after saying hello to the LC chat. 3) Get GEK'd probably 10+ times. 4) Try again. 5) Same results. 6) Squad up with Irony, Jillic, Lorhak, Gaden, Char, Lilli, etc. 7) Same results. 8) Get annoyed and bored because it's a crappy game atm. 9) Log off. 10) Rinse and repeat.
So whenever you see me give bad advice, especially to Irony, Jillic, or those guys, that's just me being angry. I'm a smart person. That's how I got to be the CEO of BSoTT, and definitely how I co-founded the Learning Coalition. If you want a source on how angry I get, you can ask the following: Khal V'Rani Crash Gaden Fox Gaden Renier Gaden Charlotte O'Dell Lillica Deathdealer Hairy Lurker Jillic Ironyimation Inception
Ask these guys, I get pretty flippin' angry because this game is basically GEK514.
