At least in Dust there's PC - and FF14 has a cool PvP mode.
WF's PvP would be the best of them all by MILES if they just put a bit more attention into it - but they never do.

Playing Destiny highlighted how garbage our overall gungame is and how technically weak it is in comparison. I'd play it but unfortunately everything Destiny does outside of the gungame is ******* terrible too. So I play Counter-Strike these days instead. Really can't enjoy Dust as much in its (barely and on a good day) 30FPS incarnation. Hoping Legion improves it but theres been some worrying signs on the F2P front for Dust that Im probably not gonna bother with that either.
Heimdallr69 wrote:Also watched the first episode of yuri kuma arashi last night... Dafuq is this? Kinda different I've watched cute high earth defense club love.. Now that's an awesome anime.
These are the two shows that I've seen so far as well. I actually loved Yuri Kuma's overall style, a lot of Madoka-isms in its choice of music and background art and, though the premise in itself is absurd as an outside looking in, the characters are deadly serious about the implications of that world on their everyday lives. The drama works. Apparently the director of the series, Ikuhara, had his previous works (Revolutionary Girl Utena) hugely inspire the development of Shaft and Madoka to begin with so I suppose it makes sense that so much of this first episode gave me that feeling. Hoping the characters and mechanics of the world get fleshed out a bit more in the coming episodes.
Contrast that with Earth Defense Club and lol. The first few moments that episode were pretty dry for me admittedly but I really enjoyed pretty much every moment that Blondie was on screen, dude's just so high energy and fun. It's a neat twist to the magical girl genre by taking a bunch of random dudes and sticking them in skirts and telling them to fight with the power of love. Hoping the comedy stays on point for the later episodes.
Parasyte - 13 was ... kind of crap actually.
-spoiler warning- -spoiler warning- -spoiler warning-
Like the absurdity of some of the scenes presented in this episode were really distracting. First you have Murano reflecting on how unusually calm and collected Shinichi is despite what he's gone through and flashes back to the point where he's jumping out of a goddamn 2 story window and jumping over a huge fence as if that were the only strange part about that moment. Not that he'd become superman or anything. Then you have the entire interaction with the Detective in which, in their first meeting, Shinichi can't hear him sneaking up on him despite the show establishing like 2 minutes later how much his senses have improved. Then in their second meeting after they've established what a danger he is due to how much he's seen and potentially heard about him Shinichi lets the guy hobble away from the street right in front of his goddamn house instead of jumping down and clearing the air. Just a really strange progression of events.

well aldnoah s2 ep1 went pretty much as expected, rather than (spoiler) commit to an actually interesting character(s) deaths they get revived and its inaho is the only competent pilot in the entire UEG forces, still gonna watch in the vain hope that this actually awesome setting and characters actually receive the plotline and development they deserve but given its current trackrecord the odds seem low, and that makes me really sad.

Death Parade - 1
I had some pretty fundamental problems with this episode, I don't think they fleshed out the characters enough to really justify the ultimate decision when things reached the conclusion of the episode. And the dissent from scared couple working together to get out of the situation they were in to, frankly, madness is seriously jarring. I had high hopes for this one but it ended up disappointing on the first ep.
Log Horizon S2 - 14
Pretty ******* great. The writer is an absolute master on the world building front and the amount of revelations coming down the pipe for this one was a joy. Despite the lack of the main crew this is probably one of the best episodes of the show this season.
Aldnoah Zero - 13
The return of Aldnoah Zero. After seeing this all I can say is wow.
That is not a good wow.

Any recommendations for I should watch this season, preferably something on crunchyroll? I plan on checking out KanColle, because why not, and Saekano, because it looks like it could be a good romance anime, but aside from that there doesn't appear to be much else.
Also just started watching Nagi no Asakura from winter 2014, and wow that is amazing so far. Much, much better than Glasslip.

A combination of Funimation picking up some of the really interesting stuff this season and the season having just literally started means I can't say that I'm comfortable recommending anything but of what I've seen and what I'm anticipating will be at least worth giving a shot ...
Seen - Death Parade* Yuri Kuma Arashi Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love! (Magical boys!)
Anticipating - Rolling Girls* Durarara S2 Maria the Virgin Witch
* = Funimation has the rights to stream it, rip.
But like I said, we've just started here. Even Terror in Resonance and Aldnoah Zero were good for their first few episodes. Judging a show by, at best, its FIRST episode is pretty dangerous territory so take all of this with an appropriate grain of salt.
Also hi.

Also hi.
Hi! Long time no see.
While we are at it I have a list of shows I am planning in watching. Could you, or anyone else, tell me which of these I shouldn't even bother with, so I don't end up wasting my time diving into a completely **** show.
K-on Vocaloid Idolmaster Noragami Tokyo Ravens Clannad (And Clannad After Story) Nisekoi Haikyu
Any and all opinions appreciated. Also if you say a show is ****, please explain why, without spoiling anything.

**** your list I do what I want.
Baccano - The non-linear style of storytelling means you won't know what the hell is going on until the halfway point of the series but its backed by a tremendous cast of likable characters and a tale of Immortals, 1920s era gangsters, and a story that spans hundreds of years.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - If you want to watch a painfully generic and forgettable shounen about Alchemists you'll watch Tokyo Ravens. If you want to watch the show that Tokyo Ravens is trying to be you'll watch Fullmetal Alchemist.
Flower of Evil - I'm gonna keep bringing this one up whenever I can. It's the anti-highschool drama anime. In an environment in which most anime idealize the highschool environment Flower of Evil comes in and shows that ugly, depressing, yet all together human side of the equation. A very raw and uncomfortable experience but one in which the characters feel real and genuine in a way that's rarely seen in most shows. Your protagonist is not your generic self insert power fantasy character surrounded by a harem of fawning girls but a real person facing a downward spiral of corruption after having been blackmailed by a fellow student. An extremely well executed 'fall from grace' story.
Time of Eve - Very Very Asimov. Based on a lot of his writings. It deals with that interaction between human and non-human intelligences in a world in which Robots have become a commonplace of society. The story is focused around a cafe in which robot and humans alike can come and interact with eachother without having the "labels" that come with being one or the other imposed on them. It's neat.
Madoka Rebellion - We've talked about this one.
From your list -
K-on - Extremely popular, haven't seen it myself. Huge following that spawned a bunch of shows trying to be the new K-ON. Vocaloid - Never seen it Idolmaster - Never seen it Noragami - Probably one of the better Bones series they've put out lately. One of the arcs drags for a bit but it was good fun. Tokyo Ravens - Read above, bootleg FMA. Clannad (And Clannad After Story) - Never seen it Nisekoi - Never seen it Haikyu - Heard some really good things, on my watchlist but haven't seen it.

K-on Vocaloid Idolmaster Noragami Tokyo Ravens Clannad (And Clannad After Story) Nisekoi Haikyu Any and all opinions appreciated. Also if you say a show is ****, please explain why, without spoiling anything. Idk what Vocoloid is - but that list could easily be my favorite slice of lifes/romances lol
K-on is slice of life only - bout 5 girls in a light music club making music and living life together - I personally love this show, seen it 3 times, lol.
Idolmaster - This show is another great slice of life, could of easily gone another season with it's interesting cast. Likely we will being see A LOT more of this title in the future. Another show like this to check out on CR would be Long Live! - which is arguably a better show, but both are great if you like slice of life.
Noragami - This is action/slice of life/ drama / yokai kinda show. HAs slice of life elements, but the focus is a god down on his luck, basically. It's both funny and pleasant to the eyes. I'd recommend it to anime fans, easily. It's a lot like the next show -
Tokyo Ravens - just like Noragami - both are damn good watches. Just this show doesn't need gods, everyones a bad ass.
Clannad (and After Story) - .... *clears eyes* Now that I'm done thinking about this show - go watch. You will cry. A lot. If you feels your one of those emotionless people I love recommending this show - without fail After Story will get you.
Nisekoi - Another personal favorite, this ties generic plot devices and characters and emphasis them in a way that's refreshing to watch. I think the animation quality had a lot to do with this - but it's a Shaft show, so expect the best.
Haikyuu - not a sports fan, tend to stay away. Not that I don't like sports in general - just that the drama involved in these shows tend to be overly predictable.
Other shows I'd recommend outside your list on CR:
Hanasaku Iroha - visually alone, you'll understand why I recommend this.
Hayate the Combat Butler - I recommend this just to see if you even like it - it's like the most basic of basic of anime, but it's great, near damn good, for what it is.
Kokoro Connect - Physiological anime - bout a group of high school kids who get mentally ****** with by a god during high school and romance/drama.
My Little Monster - amazing Romance, absolutely enthralling watching the main female and male leads interact.
Nogizaka Haruka no Himtsu - you seemed a romance fan, this is a good romance, a bit basic like Hayate - but still a good watch. The ending, like Oriemo, is in OVA series.
Oriemo - this is an incest show, but the most popular of it's kind. So much so, that it's ending nearly incited riots. lol A romance/slice of life show, but there's another element hard to explain.
School Days - the ultimate mind **** romance. Watch uncensored for full effect of PURE HATE.
The Tower of Druaga - Action/Romance/Adventure - it's based on an MMO - It's a show for all types, I'd recommend it for light humor and romance mixed in with a great plot.
Toradora - Sits right next to Clannad as one of the best romances of all time - CR even has it's dub.
The World God Only Knows - another romance, but this one has a format to it that gives a refreshing take on an over-used plot. I'd highly recommend this one, anyone could get into it.
Magi - Pure awesome goodness. It has everything but Mechs <3 I could say so much about this show - but all I'll say is GIVE ME SEASON 3!~
Bakemonotagari - Another Shaft show - so expect excellence in both script and animation. And out-going craziness. An example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXX7dRULFaE
No Game No Life - epic. Someone else will go into a lot of detail why, lol.
Love, Chuunibyo, & other Delusions - lol, this show is amazing. It's a slice of life that goes over the top with it's own animation and explodes into epic battle scenes using kitchen wear and umbrellas.
Total Eclipse Muv Luv - Gorey, great plot, good characters. If you like mecha anime you'll love it.

And this is where we differ! For me the mechanics of the world and its characters are fundamentally tied. In the best cases the characters become a reflection of the world and the conditions in which they've developed and this makes up for a lot of the enjoyment I get out of a piece of media. Sure, there are exceptions, I loved Nozaki-kun and more light hearted comedies. But for a show that has ambitions beyond the comedy (like Kokoro Connect) I find it extremely important that the mechanics of the world and its character flow together seamlessly. It's a lot of the reason why I couldn't enjoy Kokoro as much as most people.
On the flipside shows that dedicate a lot of their time to just exploring the people and places around them within the framework of what they've created I appreciate all that much more. Mushishi will forever be one of my favorite shows and I have a soft spot for the more episodic or Science Fiction leaning shows that either create a far off goal to create an excuse to have adventures or are more dedicated to creating a mechanically sound experience.
Basically what I'm saying is to watch Planetes.

Oh, one show on CR I forgot to mention and should be on the TOP of your list - Madoka Magica. A magical girl anime that will leave you both ****** and humbled. It's genres are mind **** a nd magic with yuri. Putting on my list now, haven't seen it.
But now I counter recommend since you like setting so much - Crest of the Stars. It has what I love - strong character development, but it does something even better then that - it's setting, technology, and how this universe evolved and expanded.

It was nice to be able to see what you look for in an anime in a clear, concise layout as opposed to having to pick bits of information out of the more abstract conversations we have. As we have never really talked about what we each look for in anime in the purest sense, I will also post here what I look for in an anime so that you can understand more about what I like in anime, because I am horrible at explaining things in a normal conversation.
As you know, I love my romance anime. I enjoy watching a slow, progressive romance story because it allows me to see the change in the characters emotion and it creates a pleasant feeling when the romance finally ties together. Shows like Say "I Love You" and Shakugan no Shana did this really well. If a romance is rushed, such as the romance in Sword Art Online, it just doesn't produce that same pleasant feeling, which is why I don't enjoy or tend to avoid shorter series that don't focus on the romance enough, like Glasslip.
Furthermore, I really enjoy watching characters struggle with their emotions. Be it love, hate, sadness, jealousy, you name it: I enjoy watching characters try to understand their own emotions. This is why I enjoy shows like Kokoro Connect, Madoka Magica, and Nagi no Asakura. Shows where the characters are dead set on there emotions, and there is absolutely no conflict regarding emotion, are shows I tend to not enjoy so much. Shows like this include Black Bullet and Trinity Seven.
Plot is another huge factor in whether or not I enjoy an anime. Shows with complex plots and interesting conflicts that keep me thinking are usually great shows. Sword Art Online, Fate / Zero, and Hamatora come to mind when I think about shows that have good plots. The only exception to this is slice of life anime, which usually contain romance elements that make the show worth watching, like Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. Of course there are some non-romance slice of life anime that actually have good conflicts, though they are usually paired with emotional struggle to add a layer a depth to it. The first show that comes to mind in relation to this is Love Live! School Idol Project, which kept me hooked the entire time. The more episodic shows, like Mushishi, don't really entertain me, so I tend to drop them after watching a few episodes.
Philosophy is also something that a show can really hook me with. Any show that has a lot of philosophical depth is a show I really enjoy. Show that delve into topics such as: Value of the human soul/life, emotional worth, and of course romantic philosophy are especially good in my eye. Madoka Magica, Kokoro Connect, and Angel Beats definitely strike high in this category. Philosophical value isn't something I look for in every show though, as it is hard to find truly philosophical anime.
Interesting concepts are also something that I enjoy seeing. If a show revolves an unusual concept or if it takes a typical concept and takes a large twist on that, I will enjoy even more. Madoka Magica, Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, and Hamatora all had there own twist on typical concepts, so I enjoy them at least a little more than I normally would.
Music is something I generally look at when it comes to anime as well. My method for finding new anime to watch usually involves looking at Top 100 Anime Intro videos on Youtube because I feel an anime's intro directly reflects the anime itself. Anime with amazing in-show music are usually high on my list. Examples include Madoka Magica, Guilty Crown, Fate / Zero, and Love Live! School Idol Project. On the topic of actual production, animation is also something I judge an anime highly on. While I enjoy a refreshing animation style every now and then, I prefer watching shows with the usually animation style, as long as it isn't poorly done. For this reason alone I won't watch anything produced in the early 2000's or earlier.
I have been saving the main reason for last, but to understand this you first have to understand my emotional state first. I, by nature, am a very happy-go-lucky person, so the only two emotions I generally feel are happiness and annoyance. Any anime that can produce a different emotion out of me end up being quite memorable. Sadness is an emotion that I never feel on a day to day basis, so if a show provokes this emotion it skyrockets to the top percentile of anime I have seen. Fate / Zero, Guilty Crown, Nagi no Asakura, Kokoro Connect, Madoka Magica, and Akame Ga Kill all did this. That doesn't mean the were good shows over all, but they sit well with me due to the fact that they made me sad. Taking that even further, any show that can make me cry will find itself at the top of my list. So far only two shows have managed to do this: Angel Beats and Love Live! School Idol Project, which sit second and first on my list respectively due to the fact that I cried while watching them. Show that drag no emotion out of me never sit well with me, namely Blade and Soul as well as Blue Exorcist.
Thanks for taking your time to read this, and don't bother commenting on this if you haven't.
Also, I hate mecha, and refuse to watch any mecha anime.
That is all, Sincerely, Glanitx / Ice.
