sorry but I dropped this for a bit - the animation is exclusively comedy, so i'm going to wait till i'm in a better mood for a comedy like this, especially with this kind of moe. Really liked some of the characters in the first few episodes, though. Will probably be above my expectations.
So i switched over to something darker - Fate Stay Night - Unlimited Blade Works. |

Crappy Time Warner internet.
Seikon no Quaser 2 (Qwaser of Stigmata 2)
5/10
Sasha, alongside Hana, find themselves investigating the location of a powerful circuit, the Magdalena of Thunder. Unfortunately for him, the circuit just happens to be located at an all-girls school...so Sasha's going to have to go "undercover," if you will. Meanwhile, a new enemy appears as a prophesied war looms ever closer on the horizon...
Clocking in at just 12 episodes (compared to the original's 24) this season feels far too rushed...which is odd, given that the first six episodes or so (Sasha and Hana at the school) are largely unimportant and the only thing of significance could have easily been explained via a simple flashback in a later episode. Instead we're introduced to a large cast of new characters that are never touched upon again. The season also ends with the full expectation of being continued at a later time, so don't expect any sort of resolution. Sad to say that my fears were confirmed and that the show would have been better off with the ending of the first season, particularly if the show doesn't move towards a third season.
Expect loads of the same breast-focused attention in all things, but now they've decided to throw in some urination, to boot! Yes, this show seems to have been created by fetishists...let's do a quick checklist, shall we? -lactation (the focus of the entire show, really) -lesbianism (apparently all Japanese girls can't wait to get down each other's pants) -incest -BDSM/humiliation (mainly played up for laughs) -urination -religious aspects of sex
Yet despite it all, the underlying story of Sasha and Mafuyu's attraction for each other is still entertaining. Yes, they're basic tsundere clich+¬s towards each other, but it is refreshing to see a romance gradually blossom over time instead of merely being explained away in a single episode.
But still...he's supposed to be 13 years old in this!!!

Overlord Episode 4 - Hahahahaha, yes. Yes! None shall defy skeletor! His time has finally come! And he's not ******* around. He definitely has lost his human side, keeping cold hard logic. Not caring for the lives of quite literally anyone who doesn't interest him.
Removing that human side opens up the story to all sorts of potential - we still have no clue where this will all be going. This show is definitely this seasons top pick for me.
Snow White and the Red Hair - This is definitely just slice of life with romance, and it's pretty good. 8/10

This was basically me throughout the entire episode
There's just something mesmerizing about watching someone who knows he's OP beat the **** out of someone who thinks he's OP. It's beautiful.
However, I can see it getting boring soon, I hope this isn't all the show has.

I'm not overly familiar with overlord beyond the anime, but everyone that I've heard talk about it, says the manga is VERY good and that there's plenty of other high points. So its prettymuch Rokka no Yuusha, Monmusume & Overlord for this seasons 'best' shows.
Himouto has been pretty amusing though too.

So looking through what i haven't given a try yet, I take a very wrong but so right turn to Show by Rock!! A cute moe show that will remind you of another show of CG loli's in super animation doing incredible things.
So far I find myself intrigued. |

But yeah, apparently the anime started airing before the manga was finished or something, so the series ends about halfway through the actual canon.

GC is a very interesting show... The plot is uh.. Do you like cluster-**** plots full of inconsistencies? Meaning your brain will not be able to comprehend what you are watching. In extreme cases, you may feel the urge to go murder your neighbor's pets.
If you say 'yes' to then you may have mental disorders of some sort, but you will no doubt 'enjoy' this anime and call it a masterpiece. The best thing about the anime was the ost that egoist sung and inori.

As a core concept the show is about a young girl trying to come to terms with her grandma's death though. I know it is almost always done in a comedic light, but there are some surprisingly tender moments. Nothing super heavy, but for a show like that it's better that way. For me that's what really elevated it from "just another comedy" status. Well, that and yuri. I do love me some yuri.

Called into work as I try and pass this effen kidney stone, but have no fear!
DanMachi (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)
7/10
Orario is city known for two things: the huge dungeon located beneath the city that is full of monsters, and the gods who grant their blessings to those adventurers willing to enter the dungeon and defeat them. Enter Bell Cranel, a down-on-his-luck nobody with dreams of becoming a hero. Refused admittance into the Familias of other, well-known gods, he is taken in by the goddess Hestia, who has no Familia of her own. One day in the dungeons, Bell comes across a monster far more powerful than what should normally be encountered at that level. With death staring him in the face, a beautiful woman known as the Sword Princess rushes to his aid and saves his life. Embarrassed (and covered in the monster's blood) Bell runs away before she can speak to him. Thus Bell unlocks his first skill--the ability to grow and gain power rapidly as he attempts to one day rival the Sword Princess in power and confess his feelings for her; this very skill, however, draws the attention of other gods (even as Hestia refuses to tell Bell about his skill) who seek to use Bell toward their own goals...
If I had to describe this show in one word, it would be: Kawaii. Blending the power fantasy elements with romance and some harem trappings, DanMachi is an entertaining twist on the boy-saves-girl stereotype by flipping the script; the girl saves the boy this time around, serving as the catalyst for Bell's heroic journey. The fantasy elements are a nice blending of traditional fantasy tropes (magic, swords and monsters) and RPGs (stats, levels, dungeons, item drops, etc.) and the battles with monsters are entertaining, particularly Bell's solo battle with a souped-up minotaur. In terms of romance, we have a basic love triangle set up between Bell, who obviously has feelings for the Sword Princess; Hestia, who makes no secret of her feelings towards Bell (who is apparently too dense to pick up on them;) and the Sword Princess herself...at least, that's what the viewer can assume. She is obviously intrigued by Bell--even after their first meeting--but can we say that the feelings are of a romantic nature? The show doesn't give us enough to draw a firm conclusion. As to the harem aspects, it becomes apparent that Bell's good nature allows him to woo women with (unknowing) ease, be it a party member like Lili or the maid, Syr. Fortunately, the show generally refrains from resorting to typical harem comedy outside of a few moments where Hestia is antagonized by the others when she tries to be with Bell.
And so the groundwork is set for a deep, full story...that unfortunately isn't tapped in this small run of 12 episodes. The show ends with the obvious expectation of continuing on in the future, and I certainly hope that it does so. There is a serious danger of having Bell fall into the generic harem hero tropes, but Hestia is a wonderful character that I sincerely hope isn't reduced to love-stricken maiden in the future. The entire premise that Bell will continue to gain power as long as his feelings for the Sword Princess remain is a wonderful source of tension as Hestia is trapped in two worlds--she loves Bell, but if Bell were to return that love would he lose this incredible skill? She isn't highly regarded by the other gods and having a great hero in her Familia would go a long way towards increasing her stature...but is that what she wants?
The animation is wonderful and the music...wow. The opening of the first episode is on par with a full cinematic score. Good stuff.
Oh, and no actual nudity (not counting backsides.)

So does anyone else like to pretend that the animes all take place in the same world? At least some of them? Like, I just like the idea of the girls from K-On lounging around in the music room, while the girls from Love Live are practicing on the roof. Meanwhile, outside there are girls driving tanks, and Yukiteru runs past them trying to escape his dead end. Down in Academy City, Touma is battling to save the world of science, and over in the spirit world Ichigo is fighting against the Espadas. That would be epic.

No progress on the kidney stone, but at least the pain's finally gone. Gave me time to watch a show, however!
Akane-iro no Somaru Saka (The Hill Dyed Rose Madder)
6/10
Junichi has a bit of a reputation for being a tough guy, a reputation he lives up to when he comes to the aid of a girl being harassed by two boys. Scaring them off, he parts ways with the girl without giving her his real name...only to find that she is the newest transfer student to his school. After misreading her intentions, Junichi gives her a kiss in front of the class; she doesn't respond very well, to say the least. Things only get more complicated when she arrives at his house later and moves in, explaining that their fathers have arranged for them to be married in the future! Will the two see eye-to-eye long enough to fall in love, or will others get in the way?
A decent harem/romance anime, the show does nothing particularly special on its own. The main love triangle is full of ups and downs while tertiary characters add a hint of harem aspects to the fold. A few genuine moments of comedy are sprinkled here and there, but overall the 13 episodes + OVA are a harmless, enjoyable watch for those looking for a light-hearted way to kill time without having to worry about complex storylines and whatnot.
Animation is decent, if slightly dated. Only one or two characters stand out as being cute, though girls may get a kick out of the teacher.
No nudity to be found (stupid lens flare!)
