841. Profile dampener help! - in General Discussions [original thread]
For medium suits, to avoid proto scans (28dB) you need either three enhanced dampeners with Lvl 3 in the skill, or two complex dampeners with Lvl 5 in the skill. The 15dB scanner is impossible for any suit except the Gallente Proto Scout to avoid ...

842. The Logi Code. Guide to Logi Success. Updated for Uprising - in Rookie Training Grounds [original thread]
On my proto Cal Logi I use one basic plate, and sometimes two depending on whether the enemy is running advanced or proto scanners. It helps enough that I don't die the instant my shields are all gone.

843. Noobish questions - PRofile DAmpeners - in General Discussions [original thread]
Profile Dampeners carry stacking penalties. With level 5 in the skill, a medium frame needs one complex to avoid ADV scans and two complex two avoid 28dB Proto scans. They are worth it in my opinion. Others may disagree and they may not suit you...

844. Explosives Skill Not Applying to AV Grenade CPU Cost - in General Discussions [original thread]
Stop guessing at fittings. Use the Dust Fitting Tool. It has been 100% accurate for me for fits where valid CPU/PG depended on having this skill at this level or whatever.

Cobra, why do you have an equals sign on your avatar? Some other people have it too. Odd.

848. Logi talk - who has a Gallenti Logistics proto? - in General Discussions [original thread]
Gal Logi doesn't lose a slot going to proto. It gets 1 extra high and 2 extra lows, and another equipment slot. Maybe you're thinking of the Gallente Scout.

850. STOMPED! - in General Discussions [original thread]
I play ambush for the SP and ISK grind. Sometimes if your team is getting landslided (landslid?) you just need to capitalize on their deaths to get points - i.e. placing lots of uplinks, reviving/repping, etc. Also use dampeners so you can evade...

851. Nanohive Alchemy: 6.60 HP/cluster - in General Discussions [original thread]
I did some testing of my own today and have discovered that despite the fact that most advanced/proto nanohives have 72 clusters per hive, they are not created equal! As mentioned by CCP SocksFour, a full grenade restock consumes 24 clusters, or ...

852. We need uplinks to have profile signatures - in General Discussions [original thread]
Wouldn't affect me since I have both scanners/uplinks to proto. But it would be more interesting if the equipment you dropped matched your own scan profile. It would motivate more players into skilling up dampening.

853. Damn you active Scanners - in General Discussions [original thread]
Pre 1.4 you may have needed to keep your crosshairs on one guy if you wanted him to show up on friendly radar if you were 100m+ away from him. For the most part, anyone in your line of sight within a certain distance (not sure how much, around 65m...

Before 1.4, everyone was "perma scanned" in that what you and your teammates saw, you also saw on your radar/tacnet (no matter if you didn't have line of sight or if you were 100-200m away). Profile dampening did nothing because line of sight over...

Your math is wrong. The dampening skill and the dampener itself don't add together to reduce your scan profile (in this case, -10% + -20% =/= -30%). It's actually 50db *.9 (skill reduction) *.8 (module reduction) = 36dB. I will test whether havin...
