What do you think about these 2 fits [ADV]? First is common, second more tanky.
First: --compx shield --compx shield -enchanted regulator -enchanted regulator/basic plate *gek,locus,smg,k2 400shield,126/200armor
Second: --compx shield --compx shield -basic plate -basic plate *duvolle, smg, locus, compact hive 400shield,300armor
First for cover fire, regen , second more for toe to toe. Are they good in you opinion? Or good caldari player can build/advice me some fitts.

I don't normally use reppers for I see no use for it. Maybe there's an advantage I'm missing.
But I would take a both regulators and replace with a repper and a armor plate.
You want to make the second one a headache? Add a damage mod for even more quicker kills since that's basically a Mike Tyson fit...when he was 17 |

I shield and stealth tank my Caldari suits. IMO regulators/rechargers are a waste of SP that I'll be speccing out of if we ever get a respec. |

I don't think regulators are totally worthless, I used to but I have come to appreciate them for the back-to-normal speed and the ability to regain 75% of my total hit points sooner and much more frequently than the next guy. It's perfect for stick and move, definitely forces you to learn self-preservation and awareness which is a good thing in any situation and will make you better no matter what class you play.
Plates, at least my use of plates, was simply to stay alive and put on as much EHP as possible in a std fit just to keep up and be able to compete. Anymore I would only run with plates or plate/rep combo in cqc. Jack up the EHP as much as possible to stand toe-to-toe as you said and just try to burn someone down at all costs.
As far as the fits, if you can stand it, you can back down from the GEK to an assault rifle and trade the K2 hive for a nanohive to run a 3rd complex extender to get a hair below 500 shield hp. But if you have to run a GEK/K2 it would just kill me knowing I had an open slot lol. Even a GEK/compact hive will give you 2x complex ext and 1 enhanced for 455 shield hp.
Shield upgrades and armor upgrades V are a must, as they apply to any and all of your fits. Shield extension V is probably on that list too, and fitting skills to at least 4 and you'll be set |

Compact hives are great for caldari, since we get no armor bonus. (50 HP per sec) and I use recharchers/energizers when I have room. |

Get at least a basic armor repper on there for an advanced suit. On the first fit use a reactive plate if you want to use a regulator.
The problem with regulators is that at the moment of impact ... gun to gun, they do fuckall whereas some sort of plate or rep will be helpful for the duration of an engagement. A plate also gives you more buffer to survive incidental damage like grenade and MD splash; you might survive instead of getting OHKO. You have to balance your playstyle and if you are God's gift to ARs and always insta-pop your opponents then they can work, but one way or the other the regulator doesn't do anyone any good if you die too quickly because you melt in 0.7 seconds. |

QFT.
Before I started stealth tanking, I'd either a) take so little damage that I didn't need the shorter regen delay from regulators or b) take so much damage that I died and couldn't benefit from the shorter delay. Now that I use dampeners, I choose my engagements and use hit and run tactics so I have enough time out of fire to not really need a short regen time. |

Why wouldn't you do that anyways, much less with shield regulators?
That's the entire point, if you're going to use regulators you're going to be a hit-and-run player. No sense in standing in there and taking the death when you know you'll regen almost 2x as fast considering the delay improvements.
Effectiveness of regulators or dampeners or whatever module you pick is entirely reliant on your play style. If you run regulators you had better be sticking and moving or else you wont see any advantage from them.
If you aren't taking advantage of whatever module you choose, i'm sure you'll hate it or think it's inferior because you're not using it to its strength. Sounds more like a play style conflict than an issue with any 1 module.
Just pick the fit that suits your play style OP, you'll figure it out. I'd just say work on those Shield and Armor upgrades and fitting skills, the fits will work themselves out. |

and if you're getting melted in 0.7 seconds, once again, you've got a major issue with your play style or incredibly ******** fits |

I would say that no matter what you should have at least a basic armor rep. We have very little armor as is so any way you can regain that armor will make a huge difference. Another thing that may make a difference are energizers, those things are just ridiculous. On my proto suit I run with 3 complex extenders and then a complex energizer, I have 486 shields and a recharge rate of 54 I think. Shield tankings best advantage is the quick recharge rate so taking advantage of energizers can really make a difference. |

Yeah energizers really are ridiculous. I tend to stay away except on my proto fits cause I have a mental block about missing out on HP lol I neeeeeeeeeeed those extenders. I always thought the energizers were the secret ingredient but havent really changed up my fits in a while to accomodate
I like what I hear about dampeners though so I think ill try out some new fits this weekend. |

I can see where he is coming from, the more shields he can have the longer he has until they get to his armor. With the recent improvements to aim assist and hit detection I'm seeing more people that are going for the max HP approach. I find that I don't really last all that much longer in my proto suit than I do with my dragonfly suit, any scrub with a militia AR can strip away my shields no problem. I remember the days back in open beta where if you ran into a proto assault suit it was so hard just to get through their shields. |
