The title says it all. My packed AV bases cost me 15 CPU, and being 1 point over my limit of 252 for my AV fit I spent a few SP on a level of the explosives skill to give me that 1 point I need to make up. I go back to fitting, and lo and behold, I'm still 1 point over my CPU limit. The skill does not affect AV grenades.
Is this operating as intended or is it a bug, and if so is it known and I'm just late to the party?
Thanks for any information you can give.

Yeah i don't think the bonus for that skill has ever worked properly.
It's the reason i haven't trained it past level 3 even though i run remote explosives on pretty much every fit. |

Huh? It does work. Go buy a Lai Dai packed AVG which has higher CPU and equip it to an empty frame and compare the numbers from fitting cost to actual cost on suit. The skill is pretty useless on low CPU items like standard gear unless you get like lvl 4-5 then you might get that 1 point off.
Just did the math and apparently you need lvl 3 explosives prof to get 1.35 cpu off a 15 cpu item. |

Just did the math and apparently you need lvl 3 explosives prof to get 1.35 cpu off a 15 cpu item. Lvl 2 explosives gets you -0.9 cpu
Edit: My EX packed AV costs 25 cpu I have lvl 1 explosives which means -3% cpu On my suit fitting, it costs me 24 cpu despite the total CPU reduction is only 0.75 cpu Guess it rounds up
My Lai Dai AV costs 54 cpu Reduced to 52 cpu in fitting Math shows -3% is 1.62 cpu, looks like it rounds up again.
If you didnt get cpu off even at lvl 3, I would imagine its either a display bug or a skill bug or could be something to do with the hidden decimal values you cant see on your fit. As I suggested, try using an empty dropsuit fitting to test.
Since all the other figures apparently round up with admittedly smaller decimals than my situation, with a -.9 influence because of skills, shouldn't my .9 difference round up to that one whole point that I need? The thing is, it doesn't. Thus the bug. I tried it on my suit that I wanted the packed av nades on, and I tried it on the same dropsuit with only the packed nades. It does not get a discount from the skill. |

That would be a very counter intuitive way to calculate things, given that it kind of cheats the bonuses given from individual skills such as in this case, but it could be possible.
I'm headed to bed, but I'll test this tomorrow. In the mean time, if anyone feels like testing it, feel free. I'll bounce my tests off of yours tomorrow and we can compare notes. |

Ok I just tested this for the first time in months and the skill does work now. There was a time when it didn't
With level 3 it brings the packed AV's down from 15 CPU to 14 on the stats. My calculations put the actual value at about 13.6
F/45 remotes drop from 45 CPU to 41. Actual calculation value is 40.95 if it is done as 45x0.91.

I also did some tests with multiple remotes and grenades of different types (won't type it all out because fat fingers+phone) but it appears to round up and down correctly. I.e >0.5 rounds up and <0.5 rounds down. |

Stop guessing at fittings. Use the Dust Fitting Tool. It has been 100% accurate for me for fits where valid CPU/PG depended on having this skill at this level or whatever. |

I wasn't guessing. I don't know about everyone else but I did actual testing. I'll take real test data over someone's fitting tool any day.
