SO. Heard a rumor on r/Anime that Fate/Stay-Night is getting a remake. By the same studio that did Fate/Zero. For those who don't know, Fate/Zero is a prequel to Fate/Stay-Night, but was done by a DIFFERENT studio (and was FAR more awesome).

I'm kinda pumped for this. And that's an understatement. Fate/Zero was amazing, and anyone who hasn't watched it should give it a go. And it was FAR superior to Fate/Stay-Night, and I can't wait for the same studio to do the remake.

My god you poor little man. I feel sorry for you.

On a happy/sad side not: I found my copy of

Castle in the sky (GO WATCH IT, like NOW)
which I've been missing for like, 4-7 years. (my brain has difficulty telling time, so I'm sorta winging it)

Unfortunately the disk is severely scratched (still playable though) but I don't know how much longer it'll last
and I'm having difficulty burning a copy.
I also found out that Windows 8 and 8.1 (normal and pro) DON'T EVEN COME WITH DVD PLAYBACK ABILITY! So I had to watch on my PS3, but really, they're selling dvd playback separately. (windows 9 probably won't even come with a GUI, you'll have to buy it separately)

Any recommendations on software for burning a copy? (I've only got one DVD player fyi) It's got a huge scratch going all the way from the hole in the middle to the outer edge, I'm amazed it still plays.

oh also Soldier Sorajord go through the first few pages of the thread and pick something that sounds interesting then comeback. you failed to prefix pokemon with "only the first 2 seasons of" and that worries me. going off your current rather horrid list I'd recommend Full Metal Alchemist and then Elfen Lied (might as well get you initiation done right) something easy at first a toe in the water and then run up and push you in!

 Please clarify:
  Fullmetal Alchemist

  Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
(Brotherhood is better)

You're telling him to start off with Elfen Lied? Might as well throw in Higurashi, Future Diary, and *School Days. Although Elfen Lied is good, I don't know how well a newcomer would handle it. Although I do understand where you're coming from with the logic of

I like how you list Future Diary anyway, you just disguise it with it's untranslated name. (Mirai Nikki)

FMA doesn't actually follow the manga, making it essentially fan-fiction. It follows the manga (and official storyline) during the beginning, but diverts to it's own ending mid-way through

FMA:B follows the storyline all the way including how the series ends. (So ya, FMA has a fake ending) It is good to watch them both though because FMA covers some things that FMA:B doesn't. Like how Riza gets Black Hayate (her dog). But if you only watch one, watch Brotherhood.

So I used DVDFab and it worked, but it replaced the actual menu with a stupid one and gave me adds for it at certain points throughout the movie (I sped through it to see how it turned out) I also think it dropped the quality a bit.

Is Roxio any good? I've seen people using it.

I was just on Amazon looking at buying Spirited Away (our copy got lost/destroyed at some point) and Kiki's Delivery Sevice.
Kiki's Delivery Service had 2 versions, one with the original style box art, and one with Disney up at the top (the image was different too). Feel like guessing the prices for new copies?

 Disney: $18.96
Original: $58.95 (original was also going new for $208.28, lol)

And have you heard anything about Roxio/had any experience with it? It's the burner I see the most.

not really, FMA wasn't my cup of tea and it's really long to boot. I only watched it because it was what my sister recommended it. it's light and fluffy, I prefer something a little denser. the dude combining his daughter with a dog was good, good suspense and it really showcased the character building. but other than that it didn't offer much.

as for roxio I've used it it's and okay program. make sure you get it from a solid source.

FMA:B does a LOT of things right.

It gets a solid 9.5/10 for me, and is what kicked off my love for anime.

Seriously, if you think FMA was light and fluffy, IT'S NOT. The beginning is, but it gets dark pretty fast (A very certain death will have you staring at the screen in utter shock/terror. People who have seen it know what I am talking about). FMA:B is excellent, and I still think you would like it. I actually recommend finishing FMA before watching FMA:B mainly because it fleshes out Ed's backstory, and makes some of the plot elements in FMA:B a LOT stronger.

Yeah, the ending to FMA wasn't good. But now you know what I mean about the backstory. Now go and watch FMA:B. They will be VERY similar for awhile, but then the storylines change (for the better). I still recommend it.

Episode 13 of Railgun had one of the best references ever.

They are on a photo shoot, and the advanced scene emulator technology goes haywire.

They end up with on the moon (not really, it just looks like it). And they gasp and point at something.

 IT'S an MONOLITH.

And then one of the characters picks up a BONE.

Anyone else get the reference? I almost lost it laughing at that point.

I sort of hold FMA in the same regard as I hold Black Rock Shooter (OVA), amazing on it's own, but If you compare it to another version (FMA:B and Black Rock Shooter (TV)), well... There's just no comparison, the other versions are just that much better.

*At least, if you're talking about the big twist that involved Alphonse and the philosopher stone (like, about episode 50 of FMA methinks) and not the twist that was just the philosopher stone in general. Wow, approaching major spoil territory with this post, better watch out.

I'd rewatch FMA:B but I wouldn't rewatch FMA. Too long and I'll just sit there wishing I was watching Brotherhood.

I wanna see the next ep so badly!!!!!
I know how you feel, this entire anime season will be remembered as one of the greatest. I agree.

Between Refrain, Tokyo Ravens, IS, Golden Time, Galilei Donna, Magi season 2, Apreggio of Blue Steel, Beond the Boundries, Samurai Flamenco, I couldn't become a hero, My Mnetal choices are Completely interfering with my School Rmantic Comedy, Outbreak Company, Gingitsune: Messenger Fox, Valvrave the Liberator S2, Strike the BLood, Kill la Kill, and Nagi no Asukara...

There's just so much to watch - and they're all good! :O

Yup, and some of them are pretty underrated, like Samurai Flamenco, Coppelion, Nagi no Asukara among others... to be honest, my favorite of all times from now on will be Nagi no Asukara... that anime is just a beautiful masterpiece, the episode 4 was a massive feel train and I have to admit, I cried in the end.

Been kinda dead here. Gonna just try and breathe some life into this thread!

Gonna start a streak of dark anime. Someone come up with something kind, nice, feel-goody anime for when I'm done.

Here is the list I'm gonna tear through.

 Elfen Lied
 School days
Madoka Magica (would be first, but anime waffles doesn't stream it. They only have the movies :(

I might finish it off with Clannad. Still haven't watched it yet.
