The only thing really bothers me from other players is when someone joins a match, and then doesn't show up to play.
There were quite a few corp players in the pub match and I knew it was going to be a close battle since both teams had good players. I also was kind of expecting a good performance from Kain to help us balance the tide against the Pink Fluffy Bounty Hunters.
It's clear that Kain Spero was just joining pub matches to get sp before the downtime, with no intention of playing the games he joined.
I understand the temptation, even more so tonight with the weekly cap reset at the upcoming downtime there is a lot of speculation that there is a 24 hour period to get your 200k WP before the weekly reset (bonus week of active SP if you can play ~20 matches today). However the pursuit of better skills should never cloud your decency as a player in the community.
Being bad in a match excusable, taking other people gear is excusable, but leeching a match for more SP and ISK, at the expense of all the other players on your team is in my opinion pretty inexcusable. Players obsession with getting the most SP possible to be the best players is an attitude that seems really central to Dust and more specifically the Imperfects. It is mostly a good thing it breeds high end competition, however when players start to do things like this to gain those advantages it hurts the Dust community.
I know Kain is really popular around here, and he does a lot for the Dust community, I guess I just hope this serves as a point to how even the best players can be ****** if the pursuit of more skills is to great.
It's simple, don't leech. If you accept a match even a pub match I feel like there is some obligation to at least play in that match. If you leech matches for more sp and isk you look bad, and so does your corporation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7b-9StuE_Os&feature=youtu.be
[Just uploaded the raw video first 20 seconds show the leeching, no audio as I was not expecting to be recording]
*To the inevitable why where you in the MCC*
-As you can see from my score I was playing the match, after I died I checked the score real quick and noticed Kain had 0 WP, I then spawned in the MCC to see if he was in fact just leeching the match. That's when I hit record.
EDIT:
SP weekly reset confirmed. Excessive play and or leeching in the last 24 hour period could have netted mercs 280,000 SP without touching the current weekly cap. |

I don't buy that lowratehitman. It's now known that the weekly SP cap reset is on Wednesday downtimes. A lot of players think that since they implemented weekly SP on Tuesday, that means the first week's SP amount is up for grabs from the Tuesday downtime when they added it to the Wednesday downtime right now. It means to get the max SP possible you need to hit up about 20 matches in the last 24 hour period. Then during this 24 hour period I see an Imperfect afk for an entire 20-25 minute match, not at all believable that it wasn't leeching
Also why spawn in unless you are leeching. If he was really afk he would have been kicked for not spawning. |

This is why I decided I would record a video. I figured there were a lot of people who would just assume I am a liar, because you know Kain is an Imperfect, and so are you. It's not his style sure, but maybe the thought of losing out on 300,000 sp because he didn't have 10 hours to play today made him change up his style. All I can do is give you the video of what happened. |

????? I'm confused. DONT blame CCP for a game mechanic they set up and anyone with half a brain could take advantage of? Why? I'm confused.
And even if Kain was recorded doing this it's probably because of IRL circumstance or was busy elsewhere. If it was anyone else who isn't trying to be an active leader of the Dust community this thread may of gained some ground with me - but there's really no way I'll believe Kain is purposely trying to ruin pubbies good times when he's one of the advocates of expanding dust. |

I have yet to just sit in a MCC to gain SP per second to reach the cap, as tempting as it may be. I play all my matches, only time I leave is when I know my team will get steamrolled and I am guaranteed to lose out suits, KDR and/or points by playing an unwinable match.
All I can say is, play ambush. I have never seen any players sitting an ambush match out, because it wouldn't be worth it since they usually last 10 minuets or less. Players know that playing ambush means actually playing rather than farming SP per second like somebody might in a skirmish match. |

If you are suggesting that Kain had intended to play the match. Waited to get into the match, picked the spawn point and pressed X, then in the next 10 seconds between his spawn, and being able to move his character something came up to occupy him for the next 25 minutes it sounds pretty far-fetched. Your love for the guy means you will believe what you will and I understand that. Just realize that it's by far the least likely explanation for what happened here. If he didn't spawn in I would be more likely to agree you might be correct. |

I do not agree with the point of view of the people who are putting the blame on CCP for other people clearly abusing a mechanic for an unintended result and damaging everyone else's experience.
Still, since people are going to have no integrity (it's just a game so who cares about that, right?) they need to make improvements to the system. You need to get kicked for going idle whether you are spawned or not. But then I'm sure there will be people who put tape on an analog stick and continuously run at the wall. Perhaps get booted out if you gain 0 WP after a set amount of time. I mean, even terrible players get some points, right? Except dropship pilots, they can be doing their job excellently and get nothing.
disclaimer: I do not know who is popular and not or any of that, never even heard of Kain before. This is just my unbiased opinion. |

I've seen another player from a well known corp doing this and there is no way he wasn't doing it on purpose. He spawned, placed a drop uplink inside the MCC to try to earn some extra 25 SP per spawn from unsuspecting squad mates and was standing in a corner the whole time.

The 24 hour window to make 300,000 SP is what I believe caused people to leech. I wouldn't expect that Kane leeched before, or would again because the incentive to do so is now gone.
I want to bring attention to how even the best people in the community will make bad calls when given a hard set of circumstances. Make my limited term SP by leeching a few matches I don't have time to play to stay at the highest levels of competition.
It probably wouldn't have effected the battle, and nobody would have probably really taken that much notice. It's not that hard to justify leeching.
Well in this case I think it did cost us our match, and I took notice. it's the risk you take if you decide to leech. |

You're keeping the focus on the issue rather then player - shows you truly want resolution to problem rather then the attention I thought you were aiming for using Kain.
I've honestly yet to see people doing this in my games - but I wouldn't mind. Less people stealing my kills

I'm with Sota on this one. IMO, it seems to be a little prejudiced to jump to such quick conclusions without seeing all sides of the story. Do you know what was he doing at home when this "leeching" happened? No one is immune to real-world obligations while playing Dust. Kain could easily be asked by a family member to do something urgent, something more important than playing a petty pub match. As mentioned before, if you find more evidence, bring it. Otherwise, I'd suggest holding your horses here.
Moreover, seeing Kain's acting on the forums and attempts to lead the way in organizing tournaments and such, I highly doubt he would resort to this behavior, eve to get valuable SP. Not to mention that you gain more SP and get ISK by actually participating in battles; that's why I don't see the point of leeching itself. |
