I have other PC games and if I wanted to play with that crowd, I need to be in an environment where I can put up my defenses and say, "To hell with this, too many people want me to stop playing I am done." That is what PC players drive for when they want to destroy someone. Console gamers take the disposable approach and know that in 2 years it will be different. PC gamers have some of the worst attitudes out there and they are insulated with anonymity so they trash talk in troll ways that just shock people. This forum has had some of those. Gamers on consoles typically can't just create piles of accounts because it is linked to your machine. So they are more aware of their actions and also know that at any time some 7 year old with crazy reflexes will own you. PC games are afraid to play with that kid because they would have to acknowledge him or her. All that matters is the end product. For me, it was worth saving for over a year to get mine initially just so I could play things like Starcraft 2, heavily modded Minecraft, and later a heavily modded Skyrim (among plenty others). I'm not very tech savvy and spent way more than I needed, and had some pretty bad hardware mishaps along the way after my warranty, but it was still totally worth the extra performance I get out of my games. The only person who can offend you is you. Who cares if people act high and mighty, you're the only one who can make you bothered by it. Ignore them and do what's best for you.

I've never played a PC game where it was hacked, but Ive only had my PC 5 years now and I actually play a lot of my games offline. As for consoles, all I have to say is Halo 2 and Borderlands. Those games were hacked on consoles so bad it was basically unplayable online. Such a drag.

Yea I had to stop inviting randoms cuz they would spawn in and shoot infinitely spawning rockets that would crash my system :/ The first time I ever saw a mod in a game was in Halo 2, on the big team battle map that was snowy with a big base at either end. I was running base defense on top of our outer wall when I saw a Scorpion tank cresting the center ridge. Suddenly it started shooting its main cannon as fast as an SMG. My whole screen was shaking and I saw a warthog fly through the sky, shooting plasma burst shots rapid fire down on us. It was a painful year and a half from that point on

But CCP has shown pretty clearly they don't intend to pursue a deep link between their games. Just look at Valk. It's totally stand alone from EVE, it has nothing to do with it other than lore and assets. PC is going to have some incredibly harsh competition in the coming years, especially for space FPS games. I think CCP has really shot themselves in the foot since most EVE players think a EVE FPS is stupid, and most DUST players think PC is stupid. Unless they go to PS4, the game will very likely still remain niche and loosely linked to EVE, even if the original vision somehow magically came to fruition.

Obviously the 2 are different markets but with how grindy CCP makes things it just does not fit in. The other issue is that they bulk things up so much with carbon that very few people would be able to play Legion while AFK mining meaning that a choice is going to have to be made. Personally I believe Legion would go far better than Eve ever has specially when you consider the millions of PC gamers that CCP has in their databases from all of the free trials. Hardware issues, software issues, fotw upgrade chasing, ridiculous amounts of player generated cheats and exploits. Theres a couple cites ^ about a couple console games with issues- those are the NOT the norm console-side. Yes, there are games with game generated issues, "glitches", that once players learn of they will use or exploit but those are not the norm. And they're nothing at all like the crazyness of random **** that happens PCside. On top of the spiderweb of various 3rd party hardwares and softwares and updates etc, any which if they fail or develop a conflict of operation result in forced time NOT gaming but instead scouring the PC parts suppliers or climbing the techsupport chat trees. My console is a sealed magicbox full of fairies railing stardust that I plug in, turn on and play. When the faires die or run out of crack from my slavedriving I just get a whole new one cheap, and decide if I'm going to fix or junk the old one while I continue to game. If its a junker I junk it. If I fix it I keep one and recover my expense on the second by selling the other. Either way the whole is process is a much better value for my time and my money . And my gaming and life goes on relatively uninterrupted, but for a minor hiccup overall.
