With their reputation on the console, a port or overhaul to pc only, effectively abandoning console players, would pretty much be saying goodbye to consoles forever.

Microsoft wants full control and access to eve online, which is why ccp said no to them.

Sony regrets signing a contract with ccp because it failed to make a profit, not to mention all the bugs and dead ends ccp put Sony through with every update over the years so if they would Sony would say no to porting anything from pc made by ccp, they might say yes to port from ps3 but that's still a long jump. Not to mention the horrible player to ccp relation that has gone on since closed beta.

See what I mean? By going 100% pc, they are effectively saying goodbye to consoles forever.

If they were to go pc/ps4 that would be a miracle. Actually Sony does regret it, you can look it up all over the net, there was months of fuss over whether or not Sony themselves would pull the plug on dust or not long before the Rouge wedding because dust wasn't profitable.

Keep in mind that none of the EVE Dev team expressed public opposition to Incarna.

Rouge doesn't write company policy or call the shots on platforms. Pretty sure if he did, even if he liked the idea of a PC port, it would have been announced far better than it was.

I think that was an admirable goal, and I think it - and we - are worth the effort to make that happen the way both we and CCP wanted.

I spent $400 once for my ps3 5 years ago. I can't afford to pay $600 for a gaming pc and spend more $$ keeping it updated...

If you count paying for games as spending money on consoles then that's true. I spent $400 when I bought it, then I spend $98 last year to get it fixed, total over 5 years I have only spend $498 on my ps3 whereas if I get a pc, I would continuously spend money just to keep the pc itself updated

Antivirus software, OS updates, repairs/replacements of current hardware. Updating the software so it's still usable. Subscribing to the manufacturer to get OS stability.

The list goes on and on. Updating the hardware alone costs $100s

You would be shocked how cheaply you can get a custom built gaming PC for on craigslist depending on the size of the area you live in.

Your not giving pc gaming a good enough image for people to adopt if you treat console gamers like that

Personally I find keyboards easier to use than controllers. Yes there are more buttons but it only takes a few minutes to find where everything is.

Borderlands. Those games were hacked on consoles so bad it was basically unplayable online. Such a drag.

You can't do that because the game is based in New Eden. The whole point is for all players in New Eden games to share the same world.

Imagine you were trying to take a planet, but your Corporation is on PS4 and you can't touch that planet because everyone who owns it is on PC. Not fun.

Getting a small peak into weekly progress on the game would help eliminate the appearance of stagnation, however.
