More content. Sexier graphics. Better framework. Fewer middlemen. Presumably less lag. Larger potential playerbase. Etc ...
... and we freakin' crucified the dude.
If Rouge waltzed in today and announced the very same thing he announced in 2014, would we not hail him as hero and savior?
Legion was more of a rebuild with some of the Dust stuff as a base.
Some of us were pretty happy with the idea as long as it included full character and asset transfers.
Too bad console kiddie tears washed away our future.....

Rouge is running an entire game studio, and so, no, he isn't on the forums directly himself, but he's the guy who put Rattati in charge of DUST, and is behind what Rattati is doing 110%. So was it Rouge or Hilmar that pulled the majority of staff and funds off of DUST? Just so you know, Dust has been primarily funded by Eve Online.
Dust was NOT funded by Eve.
I have more than once shown the convertible bonds which CCP sold to fund Dust once it was past the project phase.
The ideas to the contrary were all started by Eve players making assumptions.
deezy dabest wrote:Most of the original money for Dust came from a venture capital firm that bought into convertible bonds from CCP to fund Dust. http://techcrunch.com/2012/08/09/ccp-dust-514-funding/Those bonds were bought back around the same time that the Legion trademark was dropped. http://massivelyop.com/2015/05/18/ccp-games-buys-back-20m-in-bonds-drops-legion-trademark/Many of us speculated at the time of the "profitable" statement that this was in reference to month to month, quarterly, or maybe something else. When looking at the information above it would seem a much better assumption to say profitable was actually in regards to paying back its original start up cost and operating at a positive after paying the skeleton crew even if that positive is only one dollar.

EARTH TO VOID ECHO.
Dust is profitable for Sony no matter what as all they do is keep a % of the money we spend and let Dust sit there in the store. Part of the money Sony charges for updates even accounts for server space and bandwidth cost to make sure that no matter what Sony does not drop a penny of profits.
Next time you are going to spout total bullshit based on some rumors that flew around on the forums about the expiration date of the contract and source "all over the net" try to at least make a little bit of sense.

I remember everything from back then. You really don't need to be a total ***** about something you never knew about or have no knowledge of.
I think this is the biggest problem with the forums in general. Why CCP does not step up and knock down rumor mongering in its tracks better I do not understand. I do believe that you believe what you are saying but you are totally wrong. You are just propagating old rumors of contract expiration as some sort of fact because CCP allows people to run around here doing just that to the point of convincing you.

Void Echo wrote: This post brings up something else that I noticed.... doesn't the contract end this year sometime?
It supposedly ended in may but that was based on the contract being 2 years long which I do not believe was ever confirmed.
On another note holy crap look at this:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-03-05-what-will-dust-514-do-about-playstation4
That was back before the game was even launched and the quotes are from the same person who later said that Dust was just bad later when he was talking about the switch to Legion. Looking at these kind of things being said by the marketing department it is no shock that CCP told them to STFU.
Quote:"Like Eve, we believe Dust is going to be a long-term service that will vastly outlive the hardware that it launches on, much like Eve has vastly surpassed the graphics cards and processors of the PCs it launched on in 2003," answered David Reid, chief marketing officer at CCP. "It's just merely a different platform."
Quote:"We don't have anything to add to what Sony presented in their press conference other than the fact they've been a great partner, we talk with them all the time about these things and we've got a lot of confidence for Dust on PlayStation 3 today and living on as a service on next-generation platforms and beyond from there. But no dates or anything like that that we could talk about at this time."
My brain hurts after finding that little nugget.

The list goes on and on. Updating the hardware alone costs $100s Anti-virus software? That's free. OS updates happen when you want them. People still have machines that run Windows 7. And as for "repairs/replacements" well that is pretty funny considering that PC components have individual warranties. If a part on my PC breaks I remove it, ship it to the manufacturer for repair/replacement, I will pop in an old component in the meantime and keep on playing. PS3 breaks? Box it up and send the entire thing to Sony. Oh, and DON'T YOU DARE OPEN IT TO ATTEMPT FIXING IT YOURSELF opps now your warranty is voided. Sowwy console gamer. This is a pretty tired argument though. I was just offering a suggestion that would, in the long run, open up a world of other games to you. Working for $5 an hour, I can't afford anything
You would be shocked how cheaply you can get a custom built gaming PC for on craigslist depending on the size of the area you live in. One thing about the PC Master Race is when it comes time to build a new one they are quick to take a loss on the old one and move on.
Just watch out for systems with high end video cards. If they were over clocked and took thermal damage you are going to be in for a bad surprise later on.

Adding to this... ... ... I don't know your car situation, but if you are willing to drive to other cities sometimes you can travel a bit for nice gear. I drove to a college town about an hour away and had a lady give me her son's school laptop. It wasn't maybe a year old Formatted it and now I have something to watch netflix on when I travel. Like most things, be a smart consumer. Look for used stuff and you can get some crazy deals.
This is very true. I helped a friend of mine shop for one because he did not know how to check that everything was in good working order other than just firing up the system. He actually ended up dealing with this college kid who got in over his head on school loan debt and was just trying to pay off all he could and got a deal that made me jealous to say the least.
I have done builds for friends for less than $500 all the way up to my personal build that I am over $6k into. At the end of the day the cheaper ones would run most games tho only on low settings. The thing about a PC is you do not have to build it all at once. Starting out with a cheap video card then moving up when you catch a good sale or something is more than acceptable.

Honestly trolling console only gamers is some of the most fun trolling because every argument they have is based on the same old disproven BS that has been passed around for all of time.
I prefer keeping it to a minimum here just because CCP created and epic discontent for that type of talk with their blunder and their lack of understanding of console gamers.

I don't expect you to like me, i just expect you to accept that consoles aren't where this game should be.
I would love to have the game on PC but honestly I think that would be a bad move for CCP. It would likely not work out well for Eve numbers and leave them with a divided player base which would not be good considering the struggles they are facing now and the ones they are going to be facing in the next couple of years as direct competitors move in.
I think their moves to diversify over various platforms using their initial IP was a great one. Hopefully Dust being the one that started it all will make it through to the end and not just be the one they learned lessons from.

I was at a friend's house when he was handed a modded item in BL. It caused his console to freeze and had to be restarted. From that point on, even after dropping the item, his PS would freeze when playing Borderlands. He had to uninstall/reinstall to fix it. So lol @ only PC has hackers.
GTA
nuff said.
Those guys have even hacked the engine itself and added their own assets. I have not seen that happen on PC since the days of AoE. That is what happens when your only line of defense is that the OS is "closed source".

I think their moves to diversify over various platforms using their initial IP was a great one. Hopefully Dust being the one that started it all will make it through to the end and not just be the one they learned lessons from. I admit that expanding the market was a good move by CCP, however there is no other sci-fi FPS on PC that has as much depth and lore as dust, and definitely none that are connected to an MMO like eve. If CCP want to expand their market, they don't need to come to consoles to do it. There are plenty of people on PC that would jump at the chance to play this game as the vision that was originally intended, however that vision is only possible on PC.
Obviously the 2 are different markets but with how grindy CCP makes things it just does not fit in. The other issue is that they bulk things up so much with carbon that very few people would be able to play Legion while AFK mining meaning that a choice is going to have to be made. Personally I believe Legion would go far better than Eve ever has specially when you consider the millions of PC gamers that CCP has in their databases from all of the free trials. I am not sure CCP wants to risk killing Eve if this happens.

No, your not a troll, a troll provides intelligent remarks but at the same time makes people laugh a little, you are doing neither Would you prefer I called myself an a$$hole? I don't have any problems with that. PS: you're* If you want intelligent remarks then try to be intelligent yourself. :) So on top of being a ****, your also a grammar bazi Yes
And with that answer you also became a troll by his definition.

I figures they tried to lock it and it pulled out a laser rifle and cut right through that lock so they were rummaging around in the back for an entosis lock.
