Sucks for all those people who wanted to be a Caldari Sentinel but had to go Amarr Sentinel and now have all those wasted points in armor plating and stuff. I don't understand how CCP can do a Dropsuit Command respec without a Dropsuit Upgrades respec. Dropsuit Upgrades applies to ALL DROPSUITS. A good amount of people who have been playing this game since close/open beta will be the ones to tell you to max out (or evenly distribute) your skill points in dropsuit upgrades before spending all your skill points into a dropsuit first. A great example would be a player having level 5 armor, shield, and core upgrades or at least at a reasonable level. Hell I did not have the thought to spec into my prototype suit until I had level 4 electronics and engineering along with level 5 core upgrades. I will say it is unfair to compare since I was a Minmatar Logistics user meaning I have spend skill points into both shield extenders and armor plating. But I do agree with you though, having skill points re-obtained from command and not from upgrades is crazy . Let's just be happy we are getting some kind of respec anyways. Respec will give us less than 2.5 million SP.
This is why a lot of people were saving skill points including myself. We were preparing for the worse (which was no respec at all) with tons of us sitting on 20+ million skill points (I'm at 25 soon to be 28 thanks to this upcoming event). I do agree that this respec will give us less than or equal to 2.5 million skill points. Yes there should have been one for weaponry since PEOPLE ARE SWITCHING ROLES CCP!!!!! But at the same time they are using this upcoming event to help with weaponry.
The upgrades part, I do not know. That is left up for debate. Again just be happy were getting that less than 2.5 million skill points back. They could had easily said no if it wasn't for the CPMs.

Bonuses that increase the effectiveness of shield extenders or armor plates literally do nothing when you don't fit a shield extender or armor plate. That's the basis of the Dropsuit Upgrades respec question here. It's not whether +25% base armor and shields are better. Of course they are. They affect every suit. But the skills to get complex armor plates and shield extenders, complex armor repairers and shield regulators provide absolutely no bonus if you don't fit those mods. So, spending sp into building a proto Amarr heavy (with complex tanking gear) is wasted when someone wanted to build a complex Caldari heavy all along.
Very few people are running pure shield or armor. I see Caldari suits with 500+ armor and Gallente stacking shield extenders. You may stop running complex regulators or armor repairers if you cross-train into something focused on the opposite defensive systems but I highly doubt people will be completely abandoning hybrid tanking.
The armor and shield skills are some of the easiest to cross train and the rest of the Upgrades tree is useful across a wide range of suits.

Why is it bad? Doesn't it make sense on the battlefield? The weapon with the best range that sucks in CQC(or should) used to play keep away having a bonus that will allow you to have a shorter down time from consecutive fire?

A regulator is a fantastic idea. Or a scan precision enhancer. Or a kincat. Or hell, even a fitting mod. There's many options for low slots, but the point being is that it's not a foregone conclusion that only an armor mod is going to go in the lows. In fact, I have been waiting to run a Caldari or Minmatar heavy suit with all kincats in the lows. It'll be nice to be able to speed mod a heavy suit and still have room for a tank in the highs. Up until now it was impossible unless you gimped your Amarr heavy suit for the lols.

That's your opinion. Just because you think the bonus is stupid, it doesn't mean everyone else has to agree with you. Also, what bonus would you suggest that doesn't marginalize or take away from the other suits of its class?

It's a shame that it's Dropsuit Command only.
If Dropsuit Upgrades were respecced I'd have about 3.4 mil SP extra to play with (liquidating active scanners/repair tools/armor repairer/kin cats/shield rechargers/regulators).
If Weaponry was respecced as well, that'd be another 2.8 mil, from AR + proficiency/sub skills, ScR operation, and Swarm Launcher operation.
If I did have that SP freed up it'd probably go into assault dropships, since they can be very useful in decimating the high spawn points that are often the key to winning battles. |

I did not play heavy suit until now but, are the stats for the basic heavy suits missing from the blog post or am I just overlooking them? Basic heavy suits have the same base stats as the Sentinel, but no role or skill bonus.
Soooo whats the point in the basic heavy??

Who in their right mind would give up Armor Repair? No matter what tank you're doing armor repair is useful.

Useful skill if you were minmatar or gallente with rapid fire weapons like the CR/AR but .. RR and SR ?? It's like giving a reload bonus to the amarr suit .. SCR just don't have reloading issues

The Amarr scout is a joke. I was looking forward to running this suit since fanfest 2013, but there's no way I'm sinking SP into this turd. It's slower than the Minmatar ASSAULT for f*cksakes. Nobody wants to run slowly for a very long time. Whoever is responsible for this should be embarrassed. On the plus side it looks pretty awesome.
Why was all of our well-articulated feedback ignored?
