Minmatar heavies have some slow shield regeneration delays. Looks like CCP really wants them to be hybrid tankers. So much for hit and run tactics. I'm curious to see how they work out.
Spreading the hacking bonus around was a nice touch.
We can't get real 3D renders yet?

With all the complaining about a partial refund I'm getting the impression that people only run one fit. I have two or three variations across Assault, Logistics and Scout plus pilot and sniper focused not including variations for basic, standard and prototype. Some are pure shield and some are more armor heavy. I'll now be adding Sentinel and Commando which will probably mean trimming some of my existing fits. When FOTM swings around I wouldn't be surprised if you end up relying on skills you want to dump in 1.8.
It's good to have options. Train all the things.

It's good to have options. Train all the things. Not everyone has 40million SP. Most people have been forced to focus on a single role. Which means the command respec means NOTHING to these people. Basically a HTFU mantra. Especially since day one, they have been told to focus on a single role to get competitive and join in on PC games.
Yes, I do have 35 million which let's me have high skills in many different fields. 5 mil of that is in vehicles. However, it only takes about 12 million to be very focused on one specialty and you can get 1 to 2.5 million this weekend.
What skills from the Dropsuit Upgrades tree would you want to trade in?

Bonuses that increase the effectiveness of shield extenders or armor plates literally do nothing when you don't fit a shield extender or armor plate. That's the basis of the Dropsuit Upgrades respec question here. It's not whether +25% base armor and shields are better. Of course they are. They affect every suit. But the skills to get complex armor plates and shield extenders, complex armor repairers and shield regulators provide absolutely no bonus if you don't fit those mods. So, spending sp into building a proto Amarr heavy (with complex tanking gear) is wasted when someone wanted to build a complex Caldari heavy all along.
Very few people are running pure shield or armor. I see Caldari suits with 500+ armor and Gallente stacking shield extenders. You may stop running complex regulators or armor repairers if you cross-train into something focused on the opposite defensive systems but I highly doubt people will be completely abandoning hybrid tanking.
The armor and shield skills are some of the easiest to cross train and the rest of the Upgrades tree is useful across a wide range of suits.

I give up. It's pointless to argue with them. They'd rather just cry about it being unfair. We'll see the same whine every time the smallest weapon or module is added or changed.

The issue I have is the weak buffer and lousy recovery. Its almost like they were designed to have Minmatar Logistics standing behind them.

Something has to stand and deliver for the rest to hit and run - Or did you expect Gallente to always be there to be the broad force Hit and run doesn't require short delays, anyway. Shield tanked direct combat requires the short delay to make use of cover. A hit and run player, meanwhile, will be able to hide, regenerate and come back - So total regeneration time is far more important for them. Not that you could do hit and run in a heavy outside of sumo combat and LAV abuse.
The way I see the defensive strategies of the four races:
Amarr: armor buffer, slow regeneration Gallente: less armor buffer but higher armor regeneration Caldari: shield buffer Minmatar: I'd think they would be shield regeneration in order to be the "other shield race".
Quick recovery along with quick speed means you kill the Minmatar when you see them otherwise they'll run around the corner and then come right back at full strength. Instead they have less shield, slower regeneration and longer delays before recovery begins. I guess CCP is thinking we need to hybrid tank but if you do that you have to be careful and not cut into their one strength: speed. I could see the Minmatar having the 1 second shield depleted delay with it constantly bouncing between near death and ready to rock.
I'm not really sure how the Minmatar Sentinel should be run. I guess I'll burn through SP and ISK to find out.

Chibi Andy wrote:i wish CCP would just give me a dropsuit respec, i dont want to use the amarr heavy anymore i've waited since closed beta for new heavy suits and being forced to use the only heavy suit available to me and CCP wont even give me a decent suit respec
You are getting a dropsuit respec. Just not a weapon or dropsuit upgrades respec.
Thank the CPM too. They had to fight to get any form of respec.

Yeah! Burn the CPM because they took away the Minmatar Logistics hacking bonus... wait. What is that I see? Minmatar Logistics get a 20% hacking bonus not matter what your skill level? Wow. All the rest of the Logistics get a 15% hacking bonus? Well, imagine that. All Scouts get a 5% bonus? Cool. The Minmatar Scout gets a 10% hacking bonus too? Hacking bonuses for all and especially Minmatar!
Cancel the burning!
