A new upload test of Anime Empire News is now being processed and sent. It's voice over is a spoofer, not the final material, i'll likely re-do it completely cause I messed up in several parts, but this was after many attempts, jap names and saying the info correctly on screen ended up being more challenging then I thought, but fun, so I'll keep at it. |

PSN ID is unolibby, feel free to send a friend request. Seriously debating going out and buying the new Disgaea game tomorrow. Has anyone seen the anime version?
SoTa: Having re-watched The Devil is a Part-Timer, would you agree that Chiho is actually the main character of the show? Mao is obviously the protagonist, but I get the sense that what the show is actually "about" is Chiho--as the only human starring character--and how she acts as the fulcrum for many of the events.

Mao is obviously the protagonist, but I get the sense that what the show is actually "about" is Chiho--as the only human starring character--and how she acts as the fulcrum for many of the events. nah, I would say she's generally used to share a different spectrum, or perception on events.
With Mao we have the demon side of the issue, with Emilia we have the honest folks of her land, with the loli assassin we have the churches perspective, and lucifer and the other guy are generally just comedic relief and plot pushers.
Chiho is a mix of plot pusher and human rep. If the story continued and pushed the romantic angle more - i might of understood where you're coming from.
But the show obviously puts the most focus on Emilia, besides Mao himself, she gets the most screen time, and her friends get fleshed out more then Mao's general companions.
So if anyone else besides Mao would be considered main, it would be Emilia. |

My mistake was creating the video first then putting audio, it should be the other way around. You record what you want to say first, then attach clips to help explain and entertain.
That should eliminate my use of long-winded sentences, and help structure the video. But what most of the other YT's do is cut the audio and clip of them stuttering or gathering idea and just continue the video as is.
It has a neat effect, but it looks unprofessional. If my audio is going to be broken up it'll be due to separate segments requiring different amount of attention, such as the Anime Empire News, where i'l be moving from article to article.
Otherwise I'll be aiming for one shot voice overs, which will lead to me having to write up scripts, and that's fine, because I find these types of delivers more on point, fleshed out, and easier to follow.
I'm trying to cater to the casuals who may know nothing of any anime, ever. |

The Devil Is a Part Timer.
*Intro** Welcome to a SoTa PoP production review of The Devil is a Part Timer, today weGÇÖre going to ask the age old question, does the ending have the power to ruin everything before it?
LetGÇÖs find out while getting to know one of my favorite shows, Developed by White Fox and Directed by Naoto Hosoda, better known for his work in Future Dairies, the story follows mao the demon lord and his companions as they flee from human prosecutors from another world into our own.
while here, heGÇÖs introduced to multiple problems, ranging from no ID, no money, to no clue. Eventually landing himself residency in a rather volomptious land ladies apartment, and a job at MgRonalds as a part timer.
On his way back from work, he meets the gorgeously designed Emilia Justina, the Hero of Ente Isla, an encounter that would set the pace for the rest of the show.
*Did i mention the character designer, Atsushi Ikariya, was behind this show? YouGÇÖll know him from character design and artwork in the Fate Stay Zero/Night series, heGÇÖs amazing)
but back on subject, itGÇÖs through these two characters interaction and chemitry, mao and emilia, that the show builds up great levels of tension and comedic relief, bouncing from dramatic moments of coming to terms with the people who slaughtered your love ones, then flipping it on itGÇÖs head to turn it into a romantic twist scene.
ItGÇÖs in moments like these that Demon is a Part Timer makes a name for itself, combining a modern day fantasy slice of life routine that will often make you laugh out loud.
Though the show sticks to typical comedy bits, love triangle, misinterupted moments, a romantically clueless MC, itGÇÖs done so with enough flare and unique identity that you wonGÇÖt find yourself comparing it to scenes from another show, something that often happens to me, especially romantic comedies like these.
But Devil is a Part Timer isnGÇÖt really a romantic comedy more so then just a comedy, yes thereGÇÖs elements of romance and building of relationships, but it doesnGÇÖt go anywhere, and with no news of season 2, calling this show a romance is a bit of a stretch.
But itGÇÖs still something romance fans will very much enjoy, itGÇÖll cater to the typical tropes fans will find familiar, but it also looks for new ground for a Demon and Hero to build upon. Ultimately this leads no where as we get to the discussion about the ending, and ask once again, does it ruin the experience of everything before it?
Now, with a show like Devil you really donGÇÖt watch it for intense drama, gripping moments, or even the character growth, you watch it because itGÇÖs a fun show whose self-awareness turns what would of been an average show, into something much more entertaining, howeverGǪ
the show is not without itGÇÖs plot holes, and it honestly didnGÇÖt do enough of a job fleshing out the discovery of our world. The people from Ente Isla are almost completely unfazed by our 1,000 ahead of them technology. Mao himself seem quite impressed, at first, but after a quick mention about a magical car and food preparation, his excitement about our world fades and quickly and turns into something closer related to a bitter video game vet *why ccp, why!*
But those holes are more minor details used to give your show more of a realistic edge, Part Timer obviously puts more focus on being fun and entertaining, so youGÇÖl want to judge it with the same spectrum you would with a show like Fooly Cooly or Gurren Lagann. You can try to judge it to the same standards as Steins Gate, another fun anime that has a much more serious tone, but then youGÇÖll be overly complicating a plot thatGÇÖs meant to be taken at face value.
So where does this lead the ending? The ending of Part Timer is open ended - meaning, there is no ending. It ends the same way any other episode would, giving us no closure, nothing to give a feeling of a complete story. It leaves you hungering for more, and obvious bait to go read the original source, which in this case is the Light Novel.
You can see why that would lead to a lot of bitter reviews over the story of Devil Part Timer, but should that destroy the journey to the end? ItGÇÖs my opinion it shouldnGÇÖt, especially with a fun comedy like this one that never intended to give you a Future Dairies experience. Did the fact that the show ended poorly for you change the fact when Mao took a ball of energy to the face that the hero avoided you laughed out loud? No, you enjoyed it, and you didnGÇÖt laugh any less because later on you didnGÇÖt get what you want.
So in instances of GÇÿbad endingsGÇÖ like this one, I would say one of two things need to happen before you judge it, first, ask yourself if you enjoyed the show to begin with before the ending. If it was lackluster, the ending will amplify this distaste and will lead to just a bad viewing experience. But if you enjoyed it, I implore you to take another look at the show and ask yourselves: Would i look forward to season 2? If itGÇÖs a yes, the show did itGÇÖs job well, and what more could we hope for?

Everything Dies reviews are similar, but at least with the way he formats his reviews I could edit out and put in bits to make it seem like a real review. Or, maybe i would't have too, he actually does a pretty good job objectifying shows.

I think you meant voluptuous, not volomptious. That's not a word.
Shadowed Cola wrote: Did i mention the character designer, Atsushi Ikariya, was behind this show? YouGÇÖll know him from character design and artwork in the Fate Stay Zero/Night series, heGÇÖs amazing I think it'd be better if you wrote it "Did I mention that the character designer behind this show was Atsushi Ikariya?" It sounds awkward saying it out loud if you shoe-horn is name into the middle of the sentence. Alternatively, you could go with, "Did I mention that Atsushi Ikariya, the character designer behind this show also worked on design and artwork in the Fate Stay Zero/Night series?" That way, you could still mention his other work, but it flows better as one sentence.
[I]Do not[I] say "but back on subject." It beaks the pace of the review, and draws attention to the fact that you strayed off-topic.
Shadowed Cola wrote:itGÇÖs through these two characters interaction and chemitry, mao and emilia, that the show builds up great levels of tension and comedic relief Again, seems awkward to put the names in the middle. Also, you double up on naming the characters in this sentence. Try, "It's through the interactions and chemistry of Mao, and Emilia, that the show builds up great levels of tension and comedic relief."
Shadowed Cola wrote: closer related to a bitter video game vet *why ccp, why!* Not really a relatable feeling. Especially with the CCP reference thrown in there. I'd suggest writing up a new metaphor.
Shadowed Cola wrote:ItGÇÖs my opinion it shouldnGÇÖt, especially with a fun comedy like this one that never intended to give you a Future Dairies experience. The second reference you make to Future Diaries, which isn't a bad thing in and of itself, but a bit of an odd one considering the ending of the anime when compared to the ending of the manga. You might want to try a series that finishes itself, but stays true to the source material.

Thanks for the great suggestion, the first recording test of the rough draft reading the script straight, the second recording, after having practice and learned the script, will involve much more ad-libbing, and I've already made edits to the script for the second video recording.
A sample of how the rough draft would of sounded will be posted soon, and then I'll get to work in finishing up the edits and including more information about the plot. I still hadn't mentioned the shows theme, didn't even really talk bout characters, and just generally summarized the show in order to get to the point of "Does the ending ruin it all?"
I just didn't expect the amount of time required to even edit this 5 minute video, and I plan to make the real episodes more fleshed out. Again, thanks a lot for the suggestions, and I am a horrible speller :)
15 hour straight for a 5 minute video, lol. but watching the same show over and over to find clips and moments to use ended up being a lot of fun, especially when you get others to help.
So feel free to continue to support the channel in any way you guys want too, I want to incorporate several sides of the Anime Community, not just the sides I enjoy. I want to talk about shows I love, hate, and everything in-between, and meet the people with different tastes and share the experiences and or rage.
More trollish videos will start getting posted when I get to subjects that make me want to slap someone. :3 |

Eventually, I'll be using this forum less and less in favor of the discussion boards on Youtube.
I won't ever completely leave here - I'm still shoving all my biased love into this thread, as always, but the more relevant discussions, news, events, will all be posted over there.
I've also discovered the format for News Reports I really like, and will be improvising a News Report video I recently made soon.
I plan to update the page either daily or every other day when it concerns Anime News - and source will be AnimeNewsNetwork.
If anyone else has any other sources of anime news, please share. Thanks! |

Re-wind Review:
Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance (Blade Dance of the Elementalers)
Original Score -- 6/10 Updated Score -- 7/10
Twelve episodes of cute girls in short skirts fighting with each other, connected by a male MC who is rather likeable. Still an interesting twist in having the MC go from being the best elemntaler in the world three years ago to a shadow of his former self at the start of the show. What the show does a good job in doing is establishing the fact that, for the most part, you get a sense that the MC is coming into a pre-existing world and not simply acting as a focal point to bring a bunch of people together; Claire and Rinslet make for a great pair of friends that would never admit to being so (playing off of the fire/ice theme) and Ellis is burdened by weight of expectations in trying to live up to her sister's shadow. The show hints at a much larger story lurking in the background involving the Dusk Witch but, at just 12 episodes, the show is far from complete. There's a whole bunch more to this story and I'd love to see it expanded upon in the future. As it is, it's an entertaining (if predictable) harem power fantasy.

Good stuff. You should have a monthly "round-up" show where you address viewer comments of previous episodes. For example, I still disagree that the ending is left open; the show answers the most important questions (Mao is not inherently "evil") while also strongly implying the answers to others (things aren't going to get better in the other world even with Mao gone, Emi and Mao do share a bond that will likely lead to romance in the future.)
Given the information we're presented with in the show, I think it's fair to say that the immediate future for all involved will be a continuation of a fairly regular human life: Emi is always finding excuses to "monitor" Mao while at the same time openly stating that she doubts he's using his position at work to begin his next conquest; Mao will continue to pursue his climb of the corporate ladder to actually help others (he also openly states his affection for this world and his desire not to see it harmed) and poor Chiho will continue being adorable as Mao doesn't return her affections.
Thinking about it further, I think the show is intentionally toying with the idea of a romantic comedy; Mao doesn't really express any sort of interest in romantic relations over the course of the show (despite Chiho's intentions) and you can't really say that his relationship with Emi carries any romantic overtones...and yet, the show goes to great lengths to point out how onlookers all comment about the relationship the two share. I think it's fair to say that the two are inherently drawn to each other (perhaps as a matter of fate, being the Hero and Dark Lord) but there's also something to be said about the fact that the two have essentially had their lives "reset." The show flirts with going deeper into their relationship with the scene you allude to in the video (Emi breaking down in confusion, demanding to know why he's so nice to her here after everything that happened in their world) only to pull back. Though they may not have reached the point of actually forgiving each other by the end of the show, it's quite obvious that there is explicit level of trust between the two and that their relationship will deepen over time.

That was simply outstanding, definitely looking forward to more video reviews Reading straight from the script isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as your content is already well written
The only time a script isn't as important is with reaction videos or quick impressions. Just make sure you limit the things you want to talk about so you can stay on point (I have a hard time with this as sometimes I like to talk about one thing for way too long and before I know it my video is 20 minutes instead of 7 or 8)

That was simply outstanding, definitely looking forward to more video reviews Reading straight from the script isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as your content is already well written
The only time a script isn't as important is with reaction videos or quick impressions. Just make sure you limit the things you want to talk about so you can stay on point (I have a hard time with this as sometimes I like to talk about one thing for way too long and before I know it my video is 20 minutes instead of 7 or 8) hahaha, that's exactly why I needed the script, when it came time to press record, I couldn't shut up. And the material was poorly communicated, just me jumping around the subjects looking for threads to tie them all together, lol.
And thanks for the compliment! It really helps getting pats on the back, knowing you aren't just screwing up, lol. |
