Super Power/Romance/School Life
Plot: 15 year-old Yu possesses the unique ability to control someone else's body for five seconds at a time. Taking advantage of this fact, he cheats his way through testing to get the best scores and enter a prestigious high school; unfortunately for Yu, his tactics are exposed by Nao, the student council president of another school, who then forces Yu (and his little sister, Ayumi) to enroll at her school, where they will be surrounded and protected by others students that have or will possess unique abilities in the future. As Yu learns more about how and why the abilities appear, he must confront danger, tragedy and the reawakening of a forgotten past...
Theme: With great power comes great responsibility.
This show was a delightful surprise. Yu was a surprisingly likeable MC that starts off as a bit of a pretentious d*ck until he meets (and is one-upped) by Nao. The first five episodes are fairly light-hearted and you get a sense of the show being little more than a high school romance show...but all of that changes with episode six. It's at this point that the show drops the pretense of "normal everyday life with super powers thrown in" and starts to tackle the issue of the consequences for using such abilities, and things can get very dark at times. Through it all, however, Yu is surrounded by a wonderful cast of characters: Nao is a wonderful female lead that is both strong and vulnerable, beautiful but never treated as a sex object, intelligent and witty. She is the heart of the show. Jojiro is the dependable male comic relief, and Yusa is a wonderfully tragic idol. Ayumi makes for a great little sister without all of the brother complex issues that typically pop up in anime.
My only real complaint with the show is the final episode: way too much happens in such a short period of time as to be unbelievable, and serves as too much of a Deus Ex Machina to force an ending to the story. Honestly, the happenings of episode 13 easily could have been used to cover an entire second season of the show.
Animation is solid and Nao makes for a beautiful character. Yu's actually a pretty handsome MC (as the show points out several times.) Music is great and plays a major part in the show. No real ecchi moments in the show aside from one bath tub scene, but even then no nudity is shown.
Verdict: Definitely watch. Yu and Nao have a wonderful chemistry between them that develops steadily over the course of the first half of the show, and the second half is all about trying to figure out what's going on as Yu tries to protect those around him.
We knew this was a Jun Madea show going in.
Almost got the full bingo (Smiley face is Animal as People, which we didn't get).
Honestly, I rate this the same way I would Angel Beats. It should have had two seasons. Two seasons, and this would be easy 9/10.
Show leading up to ending? 8/10.
Show with ending? 7/10.
I'm sorry, but I'm not very forgiving for Deus ex Machina. Which the entire ending was.
I also wanted to see the show focus more on Yuu's spiraling descent into madness (Which is what the second season would have been). That would have been interesting.

Third being http://www.anime-planet.com/anime/ikoku-meiro-no-croisee
I've seen Kiniro Mosaic. To me it was super moe, but still worse than the previously mentioned Yuru Yuri, and Yuyushiki. K-On is basically what I use as my baseline. The question isn't "is it good?" It's "is it better than K-On?" Even though in reality I should use Azumanga Daioh as my baseline since it's like the grandpappy of the genre, but eh.... I haven't seen Ikoku Meiro no Croisee.

Bakemonogatari
6/10
Supernatural/Romance/Harem/Ecchi/Comedy
Plot: Araragi is a high schooler that had the bad luck of running into a vampire. Though now mostly cured of his own vampirism, he finds himself walking the line between the "real" world and the world of spirits as he helps the mysterious Meme handle cases involving apparitions. One day at school, Araragi catches sight of a beautiful girl named Senjogahara falling down the stairs; he catches her...and is amazed at how light she is. After Senjogahara threatens him to keep her secret to himself, he persists in helping her, thus setting the stage for a story involving various animal spirits, curses and the people affected by them.
Theme: Being nice = panty-dropping power.
So as I stated before, I wasn't overly impressed by the first four episodes. Looking back, the main issue was with Senjogahara's character as a full-blown tsundere coupled with the style of conversation she and Araragi have. Very reminiscent of Gilmore Girls "nobody talks that quickly while still being intelligent and witty." However, once her storyline ends and the next one begins, the show starts to hit its stride and can be quite amusing at times (Senjogahara included.) It's rather interesting to see the explanation between the spirits/apparitions and Meme makes for an awesomely cool/mysterious character.
That said, the style of the show takes some getting used to. Frequent cutaways and blank screens or real life imagery are the norm and you always feel as though you're only a minute or two away from a full blown seizure. Interesting to see how the opening song/movie changes with the main character of each episode.
Animation is certainly...interesting. Very stylized, though many scenes appear to be too "bright." Characters aren't particularly attractive but certainly aren't ugly by any means. Music isn't bad. Frequent ecchi humor but no actual nudity.
Verdict: A slow burn that gets interesting if you can stick with it. It's hard to get past the animation style, however.

Black Lagoons concept is just better, the show itself defines itself in such a cool way, "our MC is like the twilight, the point between light and dark."
it's enabled some of the best character development of any series, back with crazy action and a bad ass cast *Russian mafia boss is one of the coolest chars of all time* it's just miles better then anything else in it's genre. It's deep and meaningful story can relate to so many different walks of life because it deals with very real issues for a working man.
Cowboy Bebop isn't 'deep', it only appears so because of it's jazzy melancholy atmosphere, there's nothing mind blowing going on with the story, it's just the characters are so damn interesting/cool. It's actually a very cut and dry story.
Cowboy Bebop vs Baccano also makes Cowboy Bebop seem inferior - Baccano pacing is absurd, hard to keep up with, but it enthralls you with it's unique narrative and interesting twists and mixes of fantasy and realism in an early 1900's setting, it's fantastic.

I saw Trigun. When I was like 6. Mainly because my brother loves Trigun. His gamer tag is often VashtheStampede.
Himouto! Umaru-Chan: An interesting enough series. A slice of life revolving around Umaru who leads a double life. In public she is the perfect girl. Pretty (or so I'm told), gets good grades, good at basically everything. In private she's a spoiled brat who lazes around all day. What I find most interesting about this series is that it's actually a very deep analysis of Umaru, and what makes her, her. By extension it's a great examination of the core parts of people.
Remember when I said she leads a double life? It's actually more like she leads a quadruple life. She's different around each of her friends. When she's at home with her brother she's spoiled and lazy. When she's with Ebina she's prim, and proper. When she's with Sylphynford she's fun, and adventurous. When she's with Kirie or Bomber she's cute, and energetic. All of this makes for a very fleshed out character. Unfortunately, despite all of that she, and the rest of the characters, fail to have any sort of meaningful evolution.
The art is fine. Not really my cup of tea. What I found strange is that in Proper Umaru mode her art style seems completely different from the rest of the cast. I think it was supposed to make her seem "prettier," but all it did was make me think she looked out of place. The music wasn't anything noteworthy.... Except for the OP. The OP is fantastic.
Who I Would Recommend This To: Anyone who has run out of slice-of-life they want to watch, or anyone looking for a slice-of-life that doesn't include a romance plot. Except the OP. I recommend watching that right now.

Nisemonogatari (Second part of Bakemonogatari by release)
7/10
Supernatural/Ecchi/Comedy/Harem
Plot: The two storylines of this season focus on Koyomi's younger sisters, Karen and Tsukihi, as they find themselves caught up in supernatural events. But Koyomi can no longer count on Meme's help in dealing with the situation...
Theme: If loving my sister is wrong, I don't wanna be right -- Heimdallr
An improvement over the first season, the second season continues Koyomi's incredible luck with women as he battles the supernatural. Kaiki takes a prominent role as the main villain and is excellent in his role; his motives are entirely simple but also entirely human. Various other storylines are interwoven throughout the season (hinting at what's to come into the future) to great effect as it further fleshes out the myriad characters while avoiding the "one episode per character" clich+¬.
Karen's storyline is amusing, even as it toys with the whole incest fetish that is so popular in anime. The toothbrush scene is downright hilarious (and a little bit sexy.)
Tsukihi's storyline is, by contrast, much more sentimental and really allows for Koyomi's true nature shine through as he defends his youngest sister. The story of her apparition is perhaps the most fascinating yet (particularly if you already have knowledge of cuckoo birds.)
Animation continues to be the focal point of the show and remains highly stylized. Perhaps the thing that stands out most is that female characters actually change their appearance as the story is told, with Hanekawa's transformation being the most noteworthy. Music remains solid. Expect loads of ecchi humor.
Verdict: A strong second season.

Nekomonogatari: Kuro (3rd Bakemonogatari)
8/10
Supernatural/Ecchi/Harem/Comedy
Plot: Four episodes that center on Hanekawa's struggle with her own inner demons.
Theme: Neko girls can be really, really hot.
A brief storyline that further develops Hanekawa's character and her tragic background that serves as a prequel to events in Bakemonogatari; the four episodes pass by in a flash and are highly entertaining while also expanding upon the relationship between Koyomi and Hanekawa. You won't find many neko girls hotter than this.
Verdict: If you've already seen the first two seasons, there's no reason to stop here.
