Okusama ga Seito Kaichou! (My Wife is the Student Council President)
9/10
Comedy/Ecchi
Plot: Hayato runs for the Student Council President but is defeated by Ui, a wild girl who throws condoms into the crowd and starts the Love Liberation movement at the strict school. Sound bad? Things get worse when Ui shows up at Hayato's apartment--belongings in tow--and informs him that they're to be married as a result of a promise made between their fathers when they were 3. Hayato now finds himself trying to hide his social life from the prying eyes of the Discipline Committee and struggling with Ui's constant advances...
Theme: Honesty. Being honest--and the results of what happens when the truth is concealed--drives the show and serves as the basis for conflict.
Hilarious, sexy and just a bit sweet...the 12 episodes of this short show (each episode is only 7 minutes or so) are an incredibly entertaining watch. Hayato is amusing as the put-upon MC that finds himself in countless (so very enviable) disasters, while Ui is a wonderfully sweet (and gorgeous) character that you can't help but fall for. Rin plays the tsundere vixen that will melt your heart and the cast is rounded out by a handful of comedic personalities.
Only negative is the fact that the show ends just as it's getting good. Show has massive harem potential but at the same time, you really want to cheer for Hayato and Ui to get together. Sincerely hope to see more of this show in the future.
Animation is impressive and the main characters are gorgeous. Music is largely unimportant. Loads of ecchi/nudity that can be both scintillating and surprisingly romantic in turn.
Verdict: If you can spare 90 minutes or so, you owe it to yourself to watch this show. It's funny. It's hot. It's sweet. It's awesome.

Is there any real difference between the censored and uncensored versions of "A Boring World..."? Caught the first four episodes yesterday but kissanime only has the first 8 uncensored.
Show so far is decidedly "meh" but I think that's because I just watched Seitokai Yakuindomo, so the humor isn't nearly as risqu+¬.

I am sorry, I've been spending time reading manga. So, I don't have much to update you about anime. I'm prepared for my punishment. All I can do to redeem myself is say that I watched the first 4 episodes of Yuyushiki. I like how this one has two idiots that bother the sensible main character. Though, I don't think our comedy styles mesh. 6/10

Fortune Arterial
6/10
School Life/Romance/Vampire
Plot: Kohei transfers to Shuchikan Academy, yet another school on the long list that he's transferred in and out of as a result of his father's job. Having spent a year living on the island six years prior, Kohei runs into a pair of old friends--the sisters Kanade and Haruna. They do their best to help him adjust to his new life in school, but nothing can prepare him for when the Student Council--and the beautiful Vice President, Erika--set their sights on him. Kohei's life is forever changed as he discovers monsters truly exist...
Theme: Fate. It's no coincidence that Erika's main fashion accessory is a pair of red ribbons; they are representative of the Red String of Fate. The story is told primarily through the means of characters either A. accepting fate (as when it reunites Kohei, Kanade and Haruna) or B. defying it (as one character tries desperately to avoid living as a vampire "should.")
A decent show. Was surprised to see how the show avoids falling into harem trappings, given its history as a visual novel. Instead, you have a show centered Kohei as he attempts to establish true friendships in his life without worrying about having to pack up and move in the future; though the show hints at possible romantic relationships developing (perhaps in acknowledgement of the visual novel) from several possible candidates, these are dismissed in favor of telling the story of Kohei and Erika's coming together, two people representing exactly what the other is searching for in life.
Animation is unexceptional and none of the characters really rise above "cute" levels. Music is above average, however. No ecchi/nudity to be found (I know, you're all shocked that I watched a show without either of those!)
Verdict: Nothing special, but the twelve episodes pass by fairly quickly. Worth bookmarking if you're running out of shows to watch.

Not anime, but manga so it's close enough. I've been reading manga on Kissmanga, and I've found just the most awesome one. Love/Death. It's written by Kuzushiro who made Inugami-San to Nekoyama-San. I think I can sell you on Love/Death with 2 words: Yuri, Yanderes. Reason you don't see Ice anymore is he spends his time playing, same with a few others. You guys are free to use Anime Empire channel to meet up - pretty much everyone else left it who isn't a fan. I'm on a break... A permanent break... I haven't been active these few days, I have been busy with a lot of stuff. A war, school, more school and I use the rest of my free time to watch anime. I haven't been watching most of the weekly episodes because of my lack of time Did anyone else see OPM yet? Just saw the first episode yesterday and it was amazing.

Since building my PC? Na. There's a secondary issue with me using my only spare HDMI cable for the connection between my monitor and my computer that'll be fixed whenever I'm bothered to pick up a new one for like 4 bucks on newegg but I think I've been effectively "done" with Dust for a while. If the game ever makes a transition to PC and on a platform where it can fully realize its vision I'd think about jumping back on but now that I have something with real power backing it I don't think I could ever go back to Dust's 30FPS-on-a-good-day, long/buggy queue times and numerous technical issues. Second time watching, but first time writing a review:
Dance in the Vampire Bund
8/10
Vampire/Romance/Supernatural
Plot: Vampires reveal their presence to the world as the Queen of Vampires, Mina, announces her intention to build a vampire safe-haven off the coast of Japan. She seeks out a young man named Akira, who has lost his memories after an accident the previous year; it is revealed that Akira is a werewolf and the sworn protector of Mina and that the two have strong feelings for each other. Those feelings are put to the test as Akira's fellow students at school (who are all human) become the targets of renegade vampires as the seeds of a larger conflict begin coming to fruition. Can Akira trust his love, Mina, and also protect those that he holds dear?
Theme: Humanity. Basically any story about vampires/monsters/etc. are critiques of what it means to be human; the catalyst for the show--the notion of promises made and promises kept--is an idyllic virtue symbolic of humanity in the heroic sense. It is also the "human" emotions of love, hate, jealousy, etc. that guide the motivations of all characters involved.
I remember coming away from my first watching being disappointed with ending, and likely wouldn't have rated it so highly. This time around, however, I was able to pick up on many more subtle references/clues that explained events and I can honestly say that I was satisfied with ending. Akira is fairly generic MC but his refusal to admit defeat in order to protect those that he cares about is praiseworthy. Mina is an interesting character--she possesses a child's body but is clearly quite old; her character can fluctuate between being a cold, calculated leader and a clumsy child with surprising ease. The show also does a good job with the whole "promises made between kids that leads to love in the future" spiel by emphasizing the importance of how a singular emotion/memory can sustain a vampire; for example, Nanami's storyline was initially a turn-off my first time watching (that "little brother" is obviously underage) but this time around I caught the references made in the story about how such emotions become obsessions to vampires.
For the most part, the show is hit-or-miss for the first 9 episodes, but really picks up for the climactic final 3 episodes.
Animation is...weird. Colors are vivid but the characters all look slightly "off" and there's this weird habit of blank/red screens popping up, along with scenes that pan into a wider view. Music isn't noteworthy. No ecchi, but there is nudity. Fair warning--Mina is obviously supposed to be an vampire of many years but her body is that of a tween/early teenager, and you will see it naked. It's understandable why there was a bit of concern over child pornography when the show was released.
Verdict: Definitely watchable and surprisingly much more enjoyable upon a second viewing.

Time to revisit a personal favorite!
Shuffle!
9/10
Romance/Harem/Drama/Comedy/School Life
Plot: Rin is your typical high school student whose life is turned upside down when both the King of Gods and the King of Devils show up in his class and declare that Rin will be watching over their daughters--who are entering the class as transfer students--with the intention of having Rin decide which one he'll marry. This proclamation only makes Rin's life more difficult as he must already deal with the obsessive fans of Kaede, a beautiful girl that he has been living with following the death of his parents. As Rin tries his best to juggle school life with these new friends, yet more girls show up to further complicate his life...
Theme: Truth and Consequences. The concept of being honest--with yourself and with others--is at the heart of the show.
One of the first anime series I watched, this show holds a special place in my heart. It was the first time I truly understood the concept of a harem show (Rosario + Vampire being my first experience) and the first time I openly cheered for one candidate; fortunately for me, my choice was the "correct" one. I'm pleased to say that, upon a second viewing of the show, my fondness isn't diminished.
The first 11 episodes are your fairly generic harem comedy staples (boy meets girl...and another girl...and another girl) and aren't anything special. I'd rate them at a 6 or 7, at best. But once episode 12 hits...man, the show drops almost all of the comedy pretext and dives straight into the dramatic fallout of actually choosing one candidate for the MC. Episode 19 is one of my all-time favorite episodes of any anime and completely shatters the stereotypical "let's all be happy-happy together" trope of most harem shows: Rin's choices aren't to be taken lightly...and not everyone is going to be happy about being rejected. Also of note is the "false climax" that ends episode 21, wherein Rin makes his confession. Many shows would have ended right there...but Shuffle! still has one major curve to throw at the viewer.
What really stood out to me upon this second viewing was the amount of foreshadowing that runs throughout the show; be it Rin's friend making a comment about not being able to make and keep everyone happy in an early episode, the prominence of box cutters, Rin's model ship or even the small detail of what Rin does with the ribbon given to him...all of these clue the viewer in to what the future holds...
Animation is pretty poor, all things considered. Some characters are cute but nothing more than that. This was my first time watching the subbed version and damn...the girl's voices are atrocious. Music is decent. Some ecchi/nudity scattered about throughout the show.
Verdict: A great show made all the better if you're already familiar with harem comedies, just to see how much the show toys with the stereotypical tropes of the genre.
For the Record: I won't spoil the MC's choice by naming her, but yeah...stuck with her even through the second viewing.

I just wish they picked up more anime. Also, my family does pay for Netflix, but I heard that for some reason they purged a great deal of their anime a couple years ago. I don't know why. Everything they have left doesn't really interest me right now.

School Live wrapped up - 7/10
The show starts strong and quickly decays into noting but gibberish moe. What begins as a possible mind **** with horror mixed in - turns into just moe.
Every moment of suspense is ruined by the shows light-hearted nature, and anything daring to force a plot progression is quickly stun grenaded then tied up by moe then beaten to death with more moe.
It was bad enough that the stories set-up made half-sense, if you have a setting where people are aware before hand well enough to set up MULTIPLE self-supporting bases - why didn't they have the brains enough to set up communication between them?
There's several elements like that - Apparently, these girls can go to the damn mall and try out clothes - while being surrounded by zombies.
Moments like that should of been the icing on the cake, Moe should of served as the theme and not the do-all to everything the show did.
Last episode was probably the only decent episode in the whole show once you realize the premise of episode 1 is full of ****.
still, not a horrible watch. It's just a shame how unwilling this show was to take a risk. |

Another show finished up - Sky Wizard Academy.
5/10
The glaring flaws of the plot not only get worse as the show continues - they multiply! The world this show is centered in apparently is loaded with emotional ****-weeds who all can't think far enough ahead to see possible mistakes in there ideas, plans, and methods. And the people with common sense don't care enough to fix everyone else's misconceptions.
wtf kinda **** is that.
There's so many different elements left half done or used to just make the show feel more anime cliche. Completely unnecessary scenes and development - just to remind you how generic the show can be if it really tried.
I like the MC - but he became so typical i fast forwarded a few scenes because I knew what he was going to say and how and what the reaction he'd get was going to be. The show is too noticeably set up to make the MC win everything, he's better then Goku because he doesn't have to try. He'll get himself nearly killed, enemy could of just slashed a different angel cutting him in half - bu nope, doesn't happen, and it was all part of his plan, all along, every dumb thing, every damn time.
And the ultimate reasoning for him accepting the COMPLETELY BS AND NON-SENSICAL "Traitor" tag - He makes a pact with the enemy, who we just barely ******* find out can speak our language and communicate with us. And that would of made the 'traitor' tag MAKE ******* SENSE!!!!! *I tend to rage at complete idiocy.*
And that would be a really interesting part of the show to built around - instead, we get this high school, everyones an idiot but the MC bullshit.
I will say the characters are cute, and the VA's are magnificent considering the script is so cut-and-copy. But the animation does a poor job of creating physical suspense at critical moments - and during fight scenes you can feel them run out of budget. |

Food Wars - 9/10
There's too much to say here, from fantastic characters to amazing music, Food Wars has everything but water-works.
The way the show amps up each dish by exploding your screen with visuals - this is part of what makes anime great. You can take anything and explode it out in any way you want. And Food Wars does an amazing job taking some silly, like placing a dish on a table, and making it an epic moment.
paired with amazing colors and use of CG - Food Wars is easily one of the most beautiful shows to end this season. It'll constantly bash you with it's luscious colors and great expressions from the people eating the food.
If it's not a show you've seen yet put it on your list. |

It's everything the other ecchi show claimed to be with the perfect sort of plot to go with it. It's a bit awkward how the MC has tendencies to be a lying pos, but everything else is just funny as hell.
The show has great pacing, set up by the Underground Student Council and there plot against the inmates. The show is like some twist on a murder mystery, but instead of figuring out how they did it, they're trying to figure out how to make it work.
Throw in sex jokes galore and borderline hentai scenes - you got one of the best show this season.

And I dropped that perv show around the part where Silver Hair girl goes full Yandere. I wanted a good Yandere, that's not what I had in mind, lol. i love Yandre DO stick your dong in crazy
as for that monstergirl, is there a snek? you know, a cuddly snek girl?
