Good, but nowhere near as great as everyone makes it out to be. SAO > AoT (or SNK for you Japanese title preferring types.) Speaking of Japanese, can anyone here actually read/speak/understand Japanese? For my part, I could probably speak very broke Japanese, and am able to pick out the easy words that everyone knows like: Baka, kokoro, desu, bento, gakkou, nani, etc. Started Kiniro Mosaic.... I've been re-watching Inuyasha - and this is some of the best VA work in dubbing, a lot of these voices aren't only perfect, but I've never heard them in another show, which is big for me, I'm sick of hearing the same voices over and over trying to be someone new.
But this anime has 0 recognizable VA's - and I actually think these VA's are far superior to Funimations. |

Inuyasha - Starting to think I never understood this show.
The cast is just, funny as hell. They're constantly trolling each other, and they do it in very internet meme ways.
Miroko in particular is just a fantastic character. He can interact with anyone and make it worth a watch.
The plot progresses steadily, Overlord could learn a thing or two what it means to not beat a subject with a stick until it's dead, or undead.
And the character designs are great, moe yet serious. I constantly think the 3 main females in this show are all Triple A cuties.

Re-wind reviews:
Seikoku no Dragonar -- 7/10 One of those rare shows that can tell a complete story in twelve episodes. Eco is still too loli for my tastes, but the relationship she builds with Ash is pure tsundere goodness. Leaves just enough open questions to merit a second season while still being a satisfying conclusion in its own right.
B Gata H Kei -- 4/10 This one hurt. I remember enjoying it (one of the fist multi-episode shows that I watched) the first time around, but from that time to now my tastes have changed; the "romance" between Yamada and Kusoda is basically non-existent, which robs my enjoyment of the show. There's plenty of humorous moments to justify an initial watching, but once you know all of the jokes there really isn't much reason to go through it all again. Should also point out that the characters on this show are all quite ugly. Perhaps they went for a more "realistic" approach? I understand Kusoda is supposed to be rather plain (and it works) but Yamada isn't anything special, particularly for an "idol" of the school.

Love, Chun, and Others got put on hold at episode 10 s2 - I have a hard time continuing from that point for some odd reason.
So I made the switch to Inuyasha, and I've been enjoying it far too thoroughly.
For some reason, I don't remember Inuyasha being so BRUTAL. Slaughtering women, children, and almost every episode has some scene of despair before someones life ends.
If it wasn't for Kagame and Miroko's light hearted approach to everything the show would of been far more serious. |

Going to have to re-watch all ten episodes of Isuca now that all of the uncensored versions are out. Can't say that I was overly impressed, but I'll hold off my final judgement until I do my proper review. Also can't wait for the final uncensored episodes of Sister New Devil to come out...

Kimi no Iru Machi (A Town Where You Live)
9/10
Romance/Drama
Haruto leaves his rural life in Hiroshima during his second year of high school to pursue Yuzuki, a girl he fell in love with when she lived with his family the previous year. Moving in with his sister in Tokyo, Haruto begins his school life anew as he seeks out Yuzuki and learn what her true feelings for him are.
Wow. Anilinkz had this listed under ecchi so I thought I'd give it a shot...I certainly wasn't expecting something like this. At times heart-warming and devastating, you can sum up the show with one question: Is it better to love then lose, than to never love at all?
Romance: The strongest aspect of the show. The story centers around Haruto's journey into adulthood and the relationships he builds along the way; the show doesn't shy away from both the highs and lows of falling in love and how it affects both friends and lovers.
Drama: Haruto's life is constantly thrown for a loop as he pursues Yuzuki. Be it the mystery of her refusal to see/speak with him, the health of his best friend or the growing affections of others around him, Haruto has to try and find his way through a tangled web of relationships as tries to discover true love.
Animation is odd; it's a relatively recent show, but the colors have a muted look to them that makes the animation seem dated. That said, many of the characters are gorgeous. Music is unremarkable. Very little ecchi and no nudity.
Verdict: I'm trying to rush through this review before going to work, so if nothing else focus on this part--watch this show. It truly captures the joys and sorrows of falling in love. It becomes downright uncomfortable to watch in certain places because you know that Haruto's choices are going to result in heartbreak for someone. It's incredible how the viewer can constantly alternate between liking/hating characters (particularly Haruto and Yuzuki) as more and more details about their lives emerge.
For the Record: Team Asuka *sob*

Re-wind Review:
The Devil is a Part-Timer! -- 8/10 A great show that tells a complete story in just one season. Remember being turned off by the female characters' appearance, but I have to admit that Chiho ends up looking pretty cute when she goes with the short hair. Plenty of comedy to make up for the predictable plot, and the interplay of Emi and Sadao is great. Ashiya really steals the show as the oft put-upon faithful servant.

Inuyasha episode 60 -
The romance isn't annoying, at all. In fact, it's very compelling. Inuyasha clearly picks Kikyo over Kagome, and trys to leave Kagame behind - but she wants to come, anyways.
There relationship is exactly that. By episode 50 he's declared undying love for Kikyo, even willing to die with her when she wants it.
There is nothing here to feel annoyed about between Kagame and Inuyasha - The show states it very clearly why they aren't together and why them getting closer is making everything harder for them.
And it's that exact point that the entire show is built off of. It's been a very enjoyable watch so far - 9/10. |

What, specifically, didn't get resolved? Sadao and co. have made it quite clear that they're happy living on Earth (Lucifer even going so far as to mention that Heaven is a small apartment.) The show heavily implies that Sadao is inadvertently establishing a nice little harem for himself as all three girls are clearly interested in him romantically...

I loved the show myself - but I agree that the ending was left flat and dry. They tried to wrap it up with some flashy scenes and throw in 'they're bonding!' moments - but it never settles anywhere that we can draw a conclusion on how it's going to end.
There's just too much going on between this good vs evil that's clouded and grey area'd that the show doesn't continue on with. |

Re-wind Review:
Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? -- 8/10 A by-the-numbers power fantasy that boasts a wonderful collection of characters to go along with gorgeous visuals and solid music. Bell is a charming fool of an MC that stumbles head-first into a harem of beautiful women. Hestia takes center stage as the overly-protective/affectionate Goddess that guides him and serves as the source for much of the show's comedic moments. Upon a second viewing, though, I really came to appreciate Aiz' character--she is completely na+»ve when it comes to romance and matters of the heart but finds herself drawn to Bell regardless. She isn't tsundere, yandere or any other generic stereotype; she is, in effect, a blank slate--strong yet feminine, innocent but not stupid...her fascination and curiosity with Bell is both sweet and amusing. Show moves by at a lightning-quick pace with an open-ended finale that presumes a second season will come in the future.

Guess what? Passed my kidney stone this morning! Picture a pea with lots and lots of jagged edges...
*ahem*
Isuca
4/10
Ecchi/Supernatural/Harem
The Plot (what happens): High school student Shinichiro encounters a mysterious woman one night. She reveals herself to be a flasher...right before revealing herself to actually be a terrifying monster that wants to feed on Shinichiro's life force. He is saved by a mysterious bow-wielding girl, who he later discovers is a fellow student at his school named Sakuya. Sakuya is the current head of the Shimazu clan, a powerful group of magicians/warriors that hunt down monsters. Before long, Shinichiro is revealed to possess amazing abilities of his own as he aids Sakuya in both fighting off monsters and the intrigue surrounding her position as head of the Shimazu clan...
The Theme (what it all means): Women--no matter how powerful they may be--are completely dependent upon men in all aspects of their life. Sakuya, despite being the head of the Shimazu clan, is completely unable to care for herself and is totally reliant upon Shinichiro's help in times of battle. Ditto for her sister, Suseri. A male power fantasy in which women can only obtain power via physical contact with a man, coupled with frequent humiliation/embarrassment as their bodies are frequently exposed.
So...a very disappointing show. Commits the cardinal sin of combining an annoying MC, an overly-dramatic, obnoxious tsundere love interest and a villain that is so laughably evil that it's almost parodic. Tamako aside, the first seven episodes or so will leave you cursing at most every character for being nigh-unlikeable. It's only in the final three episodes that you feel as though any real movement (in terms of plot) actually takes place; the rest of the show is wasted trying to pile on emotional drama to force the viewer to care about the characters (the opposite effect is achieved, unfortunately.)
Animation is average. Characters are largely forgettable with only Tamako rising to cute levels. Music is forgettable. Loads of ecchi (if a girl falls, you better believe she'll end up sitting on Shinichiro's face) and frequent nudity.
Verdict: Pass. A short ten episodes that should only be watched if you can't find something better.
For the Record: Team Tamako. Duh.

The show explains everything you need to know about Emi and Sadao's relationship: it's no mistake that other women routinely pepper the two with questions about their relationship. And how many times do we have to see Emi blush and/or get defensive whenever the subject of Sadao is brought up? It's a typical harem ending, though the final scene with Emi giving Sadao a replacement umbrella should clue you in as to what their future holds. It's also rather obvious that the whole monitoring of Sadao/fulfilling her role as Hero are excuses for Emi to be close to him (how many times does she ask herself if she's behaving more like a stalker than a monitor?)
Kail Mako wrote:What about Ente Isla? The church or whatever was highly corrupt. Are they going to overhaul it? What about the demons? Where are they going to live? What are the humans going to do now that what was basically their leader is gone?
Ente Isla is no longer important to the story. Do you honestly see any character--even Suzuno--openly state their desire to return there by the end of the show? No...they all want to remain on Earth and enjoy living as humans, as they can actually be friends there and not worry about having to abide by certain roles/destinies.
Kail Mako wrote:What about whether or not Sadao is even a badguy? He says a line in one of the episodes about how he never really knew that he was making people suffer, and he just wanted to give the demons a place to live? Will the demons and humans ever find peace?
Come on now...the entire point of the show is how Sadao (and everyone else--even the main bad guy) finds happiness in living on Earth as a human; the show points out each and every time how Sadao chooses to use his powers to help and protect the people around him instead of using them for personal gain. When does Sadao ever act as the bad guy?

When does Sadao ever act as the bad guy? We're not saying the details aren't there to draw 'some' conclusions, but it's being left to our imaginations for the most part on where it takes them. And most of those conclusions can be drawn as soon as episode 3. Nothing gets really added for the MC's relationship after that point other then watching the devil acting more human is making the hero blush.
And the show mentions how grey the black and white of good vs evil actually is - if anything, it's hinting that everything is made up of good and evil, and that theme is more prevalent theme then them 'enjoying' the human world - because they're more often then not not enjoying it. They want there powers back.
But we're constantly barraged with scenes showing us we don't understand the good vs evil sides at all, that taking everything at face value is wrong. It's through us watching the Devil adapt to the Human world we get to see how he operates, thinks, and adapts. It's not meant to be the entirety of the show, but the basis of how you view the characters differently then there generic counter-parts.

The most obvious conclusion to me would be that she'd just watch him. However, at the end of the series she herself reminds herself that she has a job. Originally, she wanted to kill him. I think she's still conflicted about that. That's a conflict she never gets to resolve for good.
Everything Dies wrote: Ente Isla is no longer important to the story. Do you honestly see any character--even Suzuno--openly state their desire to return there by the end of the show? No...they all want to remain on Earth and enjoy living as humans, as they can actually be friends there and not worry about having to abide by certain roles/destinies.
So, just because none of them want to go back to Ente Isla it gets to eat ****? It was an integral part of the series for most of it, and for it to be just written off getting no conclusion doesn't seem right. Ente Isla was as much of a character as any of the actual characters.
Everything Dies wrote: Come on now...the entire point of the show is how Sadao (and everyone else--even the main bad guy) finds happiness in living on Earth as a human; the show points out each and every time how Sadao chooses to use his powers to help and protect the people around him instead of using them for personal gain. When does Sadao ever act as the bad guy?
The point of the show, as Cola already touched upon, isn't that they all found happiness on Earth. It was how maybe, just maybe what seemed evil really wasn't. Good and evil aren't black and white. Sadao is the bad guy from the beginning. We're told he is. That's the draw of the show. To watch a bad guy slowly become a good guy. This point though, actually was resolved fairly well.

So I took a break from Inuyasha and decided to find something new that I gave up on prematurely.
It's a golden rule to give a show 3 episodes before dropping - and I wasn't being fair with Aoharu x Machine-gun for dropping it after episode 1. So I find it up around 12.
It's now 6:30, I have seen everything available.
And at this point, since episode 12 ends in a nice place *I know the series will continue* I'm going to do a half-time show review, basically.
8.5/10 - What started as unattractive, unimaginative, and un-cmpelling is quickly turned around in episode 2 with the introduction of the third member of Toy Gun Gun, Yukki.
He's very dynamic, all over the place, yet it's subtly done. He, in my opinion, takes this show out of the pits of generic and into something i can't quite put my finger on.
W/e it is - it makes me feel dirty. Like i'm watching Yaoi, but loving it. The entire show constantly theme's two males being a little too close to each other, and the main female herself is basically a guy in every way. But it's funny. Rather then Yaoi, it's more like the gay jokes you see kids do in high school on sport teams when people are overly friendly.
It's interesting to watch because the characters, for the most part, are interesting themselves. And there relationships with each other are very dynamic - never settling in one position too long.
When it comes to plot development, this show rivals Gate. It's fluent, edgy, yet fun. You'll be surprised how dark this show gets, giving you a ticket to the emotional express.
Episode 12 in particular had me both feeling things and laughing, nearly at the same time.
I could easily recommend this show to anyone in this game, or to a new watcher. Yukki and the shows mood would likely attract a lot viewers. |

Six Flowers is going to be an epic show if it continues.
So much going on - so many questions. They do give us hints to figure it out on our own, but they leave 1 detail out each time to make sure we aren't confident in our verdicts
Who ended up being the 7th was honestly shocking, and well put together. |
