LOL. Dont confuse a netwrok upgrade with SDLC. Network upgrades involve not only cordination within the company but also 3rd party provides. Where are you getting you Gb interfaces from? Cisco? Typo? Mom and Pop? Are you upgrading you server interfaces too? Are you backbone switches Gb compatible or are the 10/100? Are they in Full Auto or Duplex mode. CCIE here LMFAO. This is code builds. Has nothing to do with a backbone upgrade. a bug fix is identify the problem -> fix the rpoblem ->> QA test it. Its as simple as that. We have 20 devs working on bug fixes and go through over 200 tickets a day. Stop being a fanboy and get real son. Damn i think he just flexed his pimp hand.
this is win! since we are talking about upgrading big business sites I upgraded over 1200 phones in a corporate office with less that 3 people in the span of a month including implementing, call manager, line cuts, and decommissioning our old pbx certainly they can add the 2 new guns already.

They have been working on this for a few years and we have been in beta for almost a year. The rate of progress is **** and the most of what they delivered has been the same.
No matter what you say it wont change what 98% of close beta testers feel. Which is ignored and abused. the other 2% like you are just suckling pigs to the ccp tit
Think about this ccp said nothing about aurum not being reimbursed.. Issues arose and they made no public statement that this is a comercial release and all they did was go back into the mercpack/aurum purchase agreement and change it.
They want it to be beta when **** goes wrong but they want it to be a "commercial release" so they can take our money. That my friend is nothing but fraud and bullshit.

Iron Wolf,
You do realise, as the OP has previously stated. We are more than a year into development and this game is no better than a basic FPS shooter with multiple network/software issues.
ONE YEAR IN BETA (that should stand out). How can you defend this? If this was any other company, do you think the people in charge would still be in charge? Probably not, this same issue has happened at large development companies and "creative differences" were cited and the person moved to a different area.
Am I calling for heads... nope. But you'd think after YEARS of development this game would have progressed faster. |

While CCP has made some baffling decisions regarding the order in which they implement the game's features and almost certainly started bringing us beta players into the fold too early, Dust is probably a particularly challenging bit of software to develop. It's not like Bungie ever had to worry about balancing intricate RPG elements or accidentally breaking a ten year old MMO while making Halo.
Also, has everyone forgotten how fundamentally broken the previous builds were? I haven't had a hard lock, invalid fitting bug, or bout of crippling lag in quite a while.
The build is stale. You're extra bored with it due to the SP grind. Calm down. |

All of which have been downgraded to 'annoying' from 'utterly game breaking'. I had to quit playing for a while during the last build as every match would get progressively worse. (In the region of 0.5 FPS)
Also, if lag is that big of an issue for you, I'd check into the connection on your end. I haven't seen an unusual amount of it for weeks. |

You're an idiot - plain and simple. Yes, there was a plan - plans change. Yes, he said there was a plan - doesn't set the plan in stone Yes, you've been playing in a bete - doesn't make you entitled for Any Fracking Thing! You don't want to help out for free? Then stop. You don't want CCP to do development on things they don't tell you about immediately? too bad. You don't want them to say what their overall plans are, and then change something? You're an idiot. hey ive contributed much more money into the development of this game than most have probably... and were not asking for all their deep dark secrets... we would just like an update every once in awile... its been two damn months, don't know if that's purposely holding out on info, or the lack of care to inform us... just sayin it would be nice. actually but i want to take it a step further and have the community work even closer with CCP about balance issue so we can get it right the first time. there has been many times where they have changed something and we dont like it so they waste even more time trying to change it again. i have spent money on this game as well and it scares me to see this game going no where so far. The trolls say be patience, but the whole playstation base is about to start playing next-gen. Why would they want to come back to dust? Plus it there is no roll-over on SP this will be the situation: Random Guy: "OH! ps4 is coming out and im gonna play all day err day" -fast foward a week- Random Guy: "Hmm why should i play dust when im down a week in skill points, everyone is gonna be past me and in better gear....im done playing that incomplete game" This is the future we are facing. Is PS4 coming out next month? Last I checked, it was holiday season of 2013, lots of time. Not to mention that CCP stated their planned release date for summer 2013. Also, I've mentioned in a previous post, which you've probably missed anyway, that Dust 514 is going to be on PS4. Please don't ever forget that.
CCP states things and some of them never happen. CCP is about 3-5 months off schedule with dust. we were already supposed to have e-sports support i believe. im not making this post only on behalf of myself. i think this issue involves everyone and the life expectancy of dust. show me where and when CCP said dust will be on the ps4. |

listen....this thread is about DUST. im not asking for them to finish the game before the PS4 comes out. what i want, and im pretty sure most of these guy do too, is for CCP to stop wasting their time with such things as "matchmaking" etc. I want them to tell me exactly what their working on right now so we can figure out where dust is heading in the next 2-3 months. i want them to talk to us more about certain fixes before they implement them. wouldn't you want to hear possible fixes on the heavy suits and weapon and have a community discussion? doing this will allow them to gather our feedback while they focus on other things. all i want is for them to make us feel important somehow so it lets all of us know "hey these guys really care about us and together we will make this game better". if they make us feel that way i guarantee we will be more excited about this game and want to play even longer.
right now it just feels that dust has entered into a partial stable state since it has been out for a year. we dont know whats next and whats already fixed and what we should be working towards. all we know is that next-gen is on its way and CCP hasnt engaged us about anything for awhile

I have to agree with the sentiment in this thread. I personally am a person with a lot of patience, but lately Dust 514 is really testing my attention span. I have been playing this game since last summer, but this last build has not been as good as the other builds. There are people in this forum that have been playing Dust 514 from the very beginning and even they are getting tired of waiting for CCP to give us new content and features. We all love the concept of Dust 514, but the reality is completely different. Dust is still languishing in the developmental stage and itGÇÖs slowly losing the support of its community. CCP had better take advantage of its lack of competition this year because it looks like other developers will be trying to copy its idea and steal its already fragile audience. I personally hope CCP blows us away this year with the new content and that we start seeing Dust 514 as a powerhouse as soon as next year, but IGÇÖm not sure that is a realistic view. |

I will say I am full agreement ccp needs to talk with us more. However I am asking you all to understand they're working on the game and information pipeline. Its not like they're playing golf in shanghai (which begs the question is there a golf course there? I didn't remember one on my last trip there) but at least they are very hard at work there.
I will say that Dust 514 is not the worst offender when it comes to Beta Testing and progress that is taking forever to get anywhere.
Behold! First MMO to go BACK INTO BETA after commercial launch!

As for the additude of getting stuff done verses doing stuff right.
Getting stuff done gets people killed and wastes a crap tonn of money and time. I know this from my previous work experience, I am short 6 friends because 'someone wanted it done and didn't take excuses.' |

That the most I can say to them right now as a fellow beta tester, 'come back in 6 months'. Console players really don't have the patience, that's a given. Right now the CSM minutes have been updated with dust 514 section in it, expansion cycles are now every 3 months which places the uprising expansion to mid march give or take. |

Can you stop blaming the players for a God Damned Second. You can't see a damn thing with your head so far up CCPs ass right now
Why is it never CCPs fault? Why did it take 5 months to fix invalid bug? Why do they "fix" things and it end us destorying them? Missile turrets needed balance and they ruined them. CCP is just like you they want us to listen and be patient about stuff well its been a year and this game is ****.
Lets go down the list of stuff ccp has given us over the last year and still have.
Frame rate stutter lag (I have a high speed business class pipe and 1 out of 3 games i can really feel the lag) blue ******* sheilds spawming (why would anyone really use aurum gear when they could lose it first spawn of the game?) inventory bugs disconnects UVT issues go and search for a corp and get dc'd coms bugs (this is great when you switch to team chat to play a corp battle and 3 people have lost coms or get dc'd) Inventory issues Restocking issues infinite spinning wheel bug (so many things causes this) No alliance chat or functionality for dust side No market passive sp bug
head ******* glitching (6 months later is considered a techincal issue by ccp when we told them to fix it last summer) heavies that stick their gun into a wall and half the bullets still hit me.
laser skill are fk'd up and need looking at
map for ***** sake maps are bad. We asked for more maps and more infantry specific sockets so tanks/ds couldn't rule the day. We got smaller maps and the same maps. Whose ever idea that was a ccp should be fired for shear stupidity.
corp battles are lame
The only connecction to eve we have with game play is just an exploitable no value proposition.
So don't tell me to be patient any more ironwolf because after a year this is all the **** we got.

I Have to agree with the OP,
i have played EVE for almost 4 years now,
back when the 1st mentions of the sign up for closed testing came to my email box i signed up quick. this was when it was only weekend play, i played a bit just to see what it was like. then left to just go back to EVE until it was open beta... and now that it is i agree the game is getting stale for me, i see not alot changing, just seems that everything is in "limbo" i like dust a lot it could be great, i am not sure what the problems are but to be honest as of now i play untill i hit the sp cap for the week, then i drop it like a bad habit untill reset on wed morning... there i said it it's true once i get skill capped i loose all interest? is this wrong? i dunno it's sad but true i was once captivated but now i'm sorry to say i am loosing it, i know ill be flamed and trolled.... bye! see ya we won't miss ya.... but i just kinda see things going nowhere fast? lots of stuff is unbalanced....wont say what because then i will get flamed and trolled for sure..... but agree we need to pass the ball to CCP and they need to make a 3 pointer.... time to get this ball rolling. |

Sorry that I can't dig through tons of interviews and videos to scour for that line, but Devs have confirmed it during the Fanfest already that there will be PS4 version of Dust, it has to be in some of the keynotes and interviews.
Moreover, I don't remember CCP actually promising to release Dust out of beta in the late 2012. Like someone mentioned here before, it was a Sony's mistake, when they were advertising it as an almost finished product.

well said nova.
Match making still ****** there's ALWAYS an imbalanced weapon (so why try remove it) as above this game is getting stagnant. It's getting more and more obvious, decembers build feels like a long time ago and event then it wasn't new content, we got stability, but still get
infinite loading disconnections voice bugs terrain holes getting stuck start screen instead of zoom no shooting
I was expecting a stable game on what we had for the last 2-3 months prior! but nope. Fanfest will most likely talk about this years deal, but if they don't have an update by then, a lot of people will be pissed. |

no you wont get flamed by many because most of the people in this thread might agree with you. we all lose interest in playing after we hit the cap. if it wasnt for the sp a lot of us wouldnt even be playing dust. |

This sentiment puzzles me to no end. I would never play a game that I was only playing so that I could get better at it. I guess there's something addictive about accumulating something that's totally meaningless outside of the context in which you're accumulating it. Or maybe it's the fact that you get to use new equipment, even though you're not really enjoying using that equipment? Maybe just the bragging rights? I don't know, anyway it's weird. The devs have said they have a plan to fix this that requires some reworking, so hopefully it won't be a long-term problem.
Overall, I'm not sure I agree with the OP, but I think his sentiment is completely valid. It would help not only the image of the game, but the player retention, for the devs to be more communicative. I think it would also help for the devs to focus on some amount of "flash" for each update. We've seen measurable progress with each build, and in terms of balance and feel it seems to have come quite a way. In terms of frustration it's much better. But in terms of fun, it really hasn't improved much at all. I don't think I have much more fun with it now than I did back in July. The only feature I can think that was added since then to contribute to the "fun" factor was the laser rifle. (Someone correct me on that.)
I'm nowhere near attacking CCP on this issue. They're a comparatively small developer taking on a completely new development experience, and all at once they're learning how to run development for a console, for a twitch-based action game, for a first-person shooter, for a balanced team-vs.-team arena, etc., for the first time. I can appreciate how challenging this is. I can also appreciate the potential it has to be completely groundbreaking as a result. But they have lessons to learn, not just about what they're developing, but about how to interact with the community in ways that are both similar to and different from the way they interact with the EVE community. (Even granted that there are substantial overlaps.)
I think they know they need to be more communicative. What they may not know is that they also need to keep adding shiny stuff on a regular basis. EVE players seem to keep asking for fixes to existing mechanics above new features, so the idea that players might be more interested in new features than in fixes might be unexpected.
I just have one more point to add: NoVa, you often talk about "what the community thinks" as if the community were coherent enough to offer even a majority opinion, let alone a consensus. And even a consensus won't always be the best alternative. Most of the time, the devs are going to have to work out what seems to work best in the context of the game. |

Frame rate stutter lag (I have a high speed business class pipe and 1 out of 3 games i can really feel the lag) blue ******* sheilds spawming (why would anyone really use aurum gear when they could lose it first spawn of the game?) inventory bugs disconnects UVT issues go and search for a corp and get dc'd coms bugs (this is great when you switch to team chat to play a corp battle and 3 people have lost coms or get dc'd) Inventory issues Restocking issues infinite spinning wheel bug (so many things causes this) No alliance chat or functionality for dust side No market passive sp bug
head ******* glitching (6 months later is considered a technical issue by ccp when we told them to fix it last summer) heavies that stick their gun into a wall and half the bullets still hit me.
laser skill are fk'd up and need looking at
map for ***** sake maps are bad.
So don't tell me to be patient any more ironwolf because after a year this is all the **** we got.
... Sounds like a beta. Does not sound like complete game you make it out to be, it also sounds like you need to take a 6 month break.
As for the invalid bug... its back but it has mutated into a odd form where it only invalidates half of the fittings available. |

The game has been in beta for an unusually long time, and while there have been improvements, it seems as if they break something with every fix.
Weapon balance is still off after how many builds? The most common method of CCP to 'balance' something that only needs a tweak is to completely nerf it into uselessness (example: Missiles, all kinds).
Maps still have terrain glitches, one map in particular generates terrible framerate about half the time you play it, ambush still has atrocious spawns. These are all things that could have or should have been fixed by now, after all this time.
And in terms of communication, it's always been lackluster - for as long as I've been on the forums here, threads continually get brought up where people are feeling left in the dark.
CCP's been great about ensuring they'll get people's money or anything related to putting their hand in your wallet (1000 aur UVTs -- yes, being able to talk to corpmates apparently costs $$$$ and cannot be done via isk, which is money grubbingly absurd). When it comes to other things? Not so much.
Maps? I mean how long are we going to keep playing the same maps just recycled or updated a slight bit? Stating some overly ambitious intent of 1000's of procedurally generated maps and then only delivering a grand total of like what, 5 (some with recurring elements and shoddy design) doesn't really live up to the hype or come anywhere close.
And as has been said before, the only reason why a lot of people are even bothering to play it right now is due to SP.
In a nutshell: throw us a bone here. |
