I've no doubt that somewhere in Shanghai there is an Icelandic slave driver whipping Chinese code monkeys to work faster for the sake of your dreadfully short attention spans. Why is it never CCPs fault? Why did it take 5 months to fix invalid bug? Why do they "fix" things and it end us destorying them? Missile turrets needed balance and they ruined them. CCP is just like you they want us to listen and be patient about stuff well its been a year and this game is ****.
Lets go down the list of stuff ccp has given us over the last year and still have.
Frame rate stutter lag (I have a high speed business class pipe and 1 out of 3 games i can really feel the lag) blue ******* sheilds spawming (why would anyone really use aurum gear when they could lose it first spawn of the game?) inventory bugs disconnects UVT issues go and search for a corp and get dc'd coms bugs (this is great when you switch to team chat to play a corp battle and 3 people have lost coms or get dc'd) Inventory issues Restocking issues infinite spinning wheel bug (so many things causes this) No alliance chat or functionality for dust side No market passive sp bug
head ******* glitching (6 months later is considered a technical issue by ccp when we told them to fix it last summer) heavies that stick their gun into a wall and half the bullets still hit me.
laser skill are fk'd up and need looking at
map for ***** sake maps are bad. We asked for more maps and more infantry specific sockets so tanks/ds couldn't rule the day. We got smaller maps and the same maps. Whose ever idea that was a ccp should be fired for shear stupidity.
corp battles are lame
The only connecction to eve we have with game play is just an exploitable no value proposition.
So don't tell me to be patient any more ironwolf because after a year this is all the **** we got.
... Sounds like a beta. Does not sound like complete game you make it out to be, it also sounds like you need to take a 6 month break. As for the invalid bug... its back but it has mutated into a odd form where it only invalidates half of the fittings available.
We can say beta all we want. Thing is, do you see many of the old players here still?
I get that it's a beta. I of all people, get that.
Yet one has to wonder, seriously, what the f*** is going on? It's been a year now, and yet I've seen some aspects of the game completely deteriorate as CCP destroys them for bland ass mechanics to appease the "casuals" and "newberrys". Tell me honestly Iron Wolf, wasn't the game a whole lot better in gameplay mechanics and otherwise in and before Replication? Sure, needed some balancing, but CCP has this weird thing of taking something, completely destroying it and building back up rather than adapting and evolving.

Probably not, this same issue has happened at large development companies and "creative differences" were cited and the person moved to a different area.
Am I calling for heads... nope. But you'd think after YEARS of development this game would have progressed faster. While CCP has made some baffling decisions regarding the order in which they implement the game's features and almost certainly started bringing us beta players into the fold too early, Dust is probably a particularly challenging bit of software to develop. It's not like Bungie ever had to worry about balancing intricate RPG elements or accidentally breaking a ten year old MMO while making Halo. Also, has everyone forgotten how fundamentally broken the previous builds were? I haven't had a hard lock, invalid fitting bug, or bout of crippling lag in quite a while.
The build is stale. You're extra bored with it due to the SP grind. Calm down. hit detection sucks infinite drop-suit loading bug internal errors blue shields lag lag lag lag ...and this is exactly why I don't want any new features until core gameplay shines. More new features for players to moan about and drama over and be a general resource drain on the developers is not what DUST needs.
DUST needs to become a fps first, rather than the functional-but-frankensteinian patchwork of components it is now. All else is cart-before-the-horse fail waiting to happen.
As far as i'm concerned CCP's focus is the correct one - more features right now is poison. Ofc, i know the case i'm trying to make here is hopeless, and they're prolly gonna buckle to all this wailing and do the wrong thing. I just hope they don't buckle too much.
P.S. - If Bungie ever seriously contemplated tackling the engineering, design and coding project that CCP has taken on, after a bit of study and reflection, i am sure they would run away screaming. Is Destiny going to be single shard? |

thx for posting this, "DUST needs to become a fps first, rather than the functional-but-frankensteinian patchwork of components it is now. All else is cart-before-the-horse fail waiting to happen"........ccp has been trying to do this for 8-12 months and it's still not properly working how long can most of these people wait?
"If Bungie ever seriously contemplated tackling the engineering, design and coding project that CCP has taken on, after a bit of study and reflection, i am sure they would run away screaming. Is Destiny going to be single shard?"
short answer no......but Bungie is very smart, there next game "Destiny" may not be single shard but they are working to fix the matchmaking to where it feels like a MMO. Also CCP keeps saying Dust and Eve is single shard.... but what can WE do with that? |

Goric Rumis wrote: Overall, I'm not sure I agree with the OP, but I think his sentiment is completely valid. It would help not only the image of the game, but the player retention, for the devs to be more communicative. I think it would also help for the devs to focus on some amount of "flash" for each update. We've seen measurable progress with each build, and in terms of balance and feel it seems to have come quite a way. But in terms of fun, it really hasn't improved much at all. I don't think I have much more fun with it now than I did back in July. The only feature I can think that was added since then to contribute to the "fun" factor was the laser rifle. (Someone correct me on that.)
They're a comparatively small developer taking on a completely new development experience, and all at once they're learning how to run development for a console, for a twitch-based action game, for a first-person shooter, for a balanced team-vs.-team arena, etc., for the first time. I can appreciate how challenging this is. I can also appreciate the potential it has to be completely groundbreaking as a result. But they have lessons to learn, not just about what they're developing, but about how to interact with the community in ways that are both similar to and different from the way they interact with the EVE community. (Even granted that there are substantial overlaps.)
I think they know they need to be more communicative. What they may not know is that they also need to keep adding shiny stuff on a regular basis. EVE players seem to keep asking for fixes to existing mechanics above new features, so the idea that players might be more interested in new features than in fixes might be unexpected.
I just have one more point to add: NoVa, you often talk about "what the community thinks" as if the community were coherent enough to offer even a majority opinion, let alone a consensus. And even a consensus won't always be the best alternative. Most of the time, the devs are going to have to work out what seems to work best in the context of the game.
I would love to pare down this post to the best points, but you make so many good ones. Excellent post +1 and please since your in an NPC corp think about applying to Impswarm so we can further communicate. (very serious)
Iron Wolf Saber wrote:Sounds like a beta. Does not sound like complete game you make it out to be, it also sounds like you need to take a 6 month break.

Please IWS, are you bucking for a job with CCP? You admit to alot of the games faults even after a YEAR in "beta", but still try and excuse the development decisions?
Pranekt Tyrvoth wrote:The game has been in beta for an unusually long time, and while there have been improvements, it seems as if they break something with every fix.
Weapon balance is still off after how many builds? The most common method of CCP to 'balance' something that only needs a tweak is to completely nerf it into uselessness (example: Missiles, all kinds).
Maps still have terrain glitches, one map in particular generates terrible framerate about half the time you play it, ambush still has atrocious spawns. These are all things that could have or should have been fixed by now, after all this time.
And in terms of communication, it's always been lackluster - for as long as I've been on the forums here, threads continually get brought up where people are feeling left in the dark.
Maps? I mean how long are we going to keep playing the same maps just recycled or updated a slight bit? Stating some overly ambitious intent of 1000's of procedurally generated maps and then only delivering a grand total of like what, 5 (some with recurring elements and shoddy design) doesn't really live up to the hype or come anywhere close.
And as has been said before, the only reason why a lot of people are even bothering to play it right now is due to SP.
I am not a wordsmith, but Pranekt apparently is and hits the nail on the head. His words are what alot of us closed beta testers have dealt with for close to a year. You're a great heavy and thank you for your insight. I would go one further and say the only reason I still play this game is because of my corpmates and the people I've met while playing this game. For this I thank CCP, but I will be the biggest advocate of pulling everyone I can out of DUST 514 and into the "next best thing" should this game not deliver in the near future.
Cat Poo wrote:I've no doubt that somewhere in Shanghai there is an Icelandic slave driver whipping Chinese code monkeys to work faster for the sake of your dreadfully short attention spans.

How long do we need to have patience? How long do I have to wait for new content? I'm sure the majority of EVE players would love it if the FPS players moved on to a new game so they could "dominate". You might get your hollow wish.

GoD-NoVa wrote:By now i'm sure everyone has heard the news of the Playstation 4. With all of those new games we saw at their conference one can only be excited for this coming holiday season. This could also be a dangerous threat to DUST.
It has been almost a year since Dust has been out, and to tell you the truth....It hasn't really improved at all. Lets think about this, i understand it has come a long way and the gameplay has gotten better since the early days. BUT, if you think about Dust as a game it really hasn't made any improvements.
The way i think of it is, CCP has spent the last year doing what? Balancing weapons, balancing vehicles, balancing suits, etc. We have been playing for this long and we have only been able to play.....hmmm....7-10 maps? for a game that talks about 1000+ maps that number is very small. It seems as tho Dust is JUST now beginning to mimic what a FPS is supposed to be. But this seems only recent.
It's time for CCP to pull up their pants. It's time for CCP to get more involved with this community. It's time for us to test things as such as FW and PvE. This stuff NEEDS to come sooner than later. These two things alone will be the key to Dust surviving for years to come. Hell even a roll out of 20 more maps will help keep us satisfied till FW and PvE are implemented. Also, the old skirmish HAS to come back. PERIOD. CCP we need you guys to quit keeping secretes from us all the time. For example, we dont know when and what is going to be in this next big patch. Should i be saving my SP for a new weapon, dropsuit, or vehicle? I understand that you guys can do what ever you want but in order for this game to survive, ESPECIALLY since PS4 and possible Xbox 720 will be release this holiday, you NEED to keep us as close as possible with more and more info about whats is going on.
You post weekly updates sure, but these things only tell us which issues you are working on. They don't tell us such things as, if it has been fix, and what ideals do you guys have for fixing it. This is a time where we are about to user in a new era with next gen gaming, we should user in a next-gen community as well. Dust 514 should be backed by a seamless connection from DeVs and players.
How does everyone else feel on this? Do you think that you will be more interested in DUST 514 if CCP started releasing more info on whats to come and when? What if we could start a community voting process so we could vote on things we want implemented first? How about CCP telling us more details about what their doing to weapons, suits, and vehicles BEFORE they actually implement these fixes in? For example, CCP has stated that the heavy suit is being changed...to what? what if we dont like the change? If they told us about their ideals first dont you think we as a community can decide on if we think that fix will work?
Last point, If CCP decides to change something and doesn't tell us, it breeds frustrations to many players if what ever they did doesn't work right. If we had some say so on what the fix should be before it is implemented it doesn't work i believe it puts the blame on us a community not the DEVs. I think this would help eliminate some of the hate towards CCP and make many more players want to get on the forums and state their opinions.

dude! I didn't even know about this trailer. This just looks sooooo awesome. Please CCP do this as fast as possible.
Back to topic. I can really feel your pain, its kinda boring just playing the beta over and over again. I really like Dust so far, but the main problem is all this promised-epicness, we all just waiting to see that. And for sure this takes time, but like others said it would be nice to get a feedback from CCP. I think the lack of conversation bettween CCP and Community isn'T our fault, because we are here waiting for our gods to talk to us. I really don'T know when CCP's vacation is over, but I'm really hoping it is soon, and there will soon more content, because atm you really don't know where to skill in because of the lack of variety and all this rumors about upcoming stuff, thats mostly why people just collect their SP or spen it for something what they hope will also be helpful in the future like shields. But I for myself really don'T see why I should go for proto-suits while there is this lists of upcoming suits. And this just suck, because Dust lives from this variety and deepness other games can't deliver.

If you think CCP is making a game as an add on for an Eve mechanics then your deluded. CCP has said it wants dust to stand alone as well as be integrated into the Eve economy. (Edit). But to be clear I want to play Dust for the mechanics/ sovereignty that you mention.
Also, Dust is on the PS3 - it is a console game - get used to it. You are in our community.
I have been here since last April. I want it to succeed. We have all stuck around for its vision and potential. But delivery has been terrible. The game was supposed to be out by Christmas - why it was advertised on the sides of PS3 boxes - but CCP pulled the launch because it realised it was nowhere dear ready.
Players will move on if the product does not stand-up to the market. And it isnt. I want it to you want it to. But at some point you have to start saying to yourself - well what is actually on the table?
I have been looking forward to Destiny for ages. I hope both games are a success and I have 2 AAA MMO sandbox games to play on the PS3. At the moment though who would you bet on to deliver?

do you not realize the community your in? i understand Dust is connected to Eve, but many eve players dont give a S*** for dust. plus this is a community of PS3 gamers, if they are not satisfied they will move on. especially if the PS4 is coming out this year. please understand that i too want this game to be its best, if that means them having to stop for PS3 and develop for PS4 then so be it. also if you haven't noticed, many of this forum guys AND many of the newer players in Dust dont care for Corps. FW is really whats supposed to keep dust alive and if people dont care for corps how will Dust survive? we dont even have a clue on how any of that stuff works yet. the longer they wait, the closer PS4 comes |

DUST needs to become a fps first, rather than the functional-but-frankensteinian patchwork of components it is now. All else is cart-before-the-horse fail waiting to happen. CCP has spent a year trying to become an FPS first, if you haven't noticed, they are still trying. Most of us "get the FPS right" guys haved moved on to "give us more content" because we have become accustomed to bad hit detection etc.
Most of you have moved on to 'give us more content' because you have run out of patience, but not for any valid technical reason. Against what scale did you guys calibrate your expectations in the first place? This is an unique and pioneering venture, connected to another unique and pioneering venture.
That impatience is a fatal error, as far as the future of DUST and New Eden is concerned. It's the mistake that was made with EVE, adding more unfinished, unpolished code to the existing unfinished, unpolished code.
This is such an obvious recipe for disaster I'm mystified as to why I have to argue it here. Has impatience disabled rational thought?

I put my time in effort into to ccp and this game just be to be told that they dont have to listen to us. **** that and excuse spouting fanbois like yourself. It's been almost a year and this game is ****. Go read Nova Knifes thread about the same damn thing. You keep telling us we won't listen when you actually mean we wont agree with you. Only a hard headed hypocrate would say such a thing. I have the same problem with my 15 year on niece which is telling. So go on being a mad bro but stop telling people to shut up when they are voicing their discord with CCP. Dude, I am not telling you guys to shut up, I am telling you to listen. You can't get to mars in an hour, You can't get to beta cyngus in a day, and you may get mad at me all day long about my excuses as to why, and no amount of your fire starting is going to fix that yesterday. Maybe in a hundred years, thosand who knows but as it stands today its still being worked on, its being worked on by people who love the game very much and would like every chance for it to succedde, its being worked on by people who are taking thier work home and working on it, doing work on during the vacation. Maybe they're running into problems, maybe they're making unreal engine 3 do things it was not designed to do, who knows? CCP does and they're more focused on fixing those issues than to talk with us. I would say its unfourtunate they have so few community developers that are not being barrowed by marketing deparment but that's the breaks when you're making a game that doesnt have a need for a community dev yet. You have very few people its best to use all of thier time making the game than to delay a game another month because you have them reading forum posts. listen....this thread is about DUST. im not asking for them to finish the game before the PS4 comes out. what i want, and im pretty sure most of these guy do too, is for CCP to stop wasting their time with such things as "matchmaking" etc. I want them to tell me exactly what their working on right now so we can figure out where dust is heading in the next 2-3 months. i want them to talk to us more about certain fixes before they implement them. wouldn't you want to hear possible fixes on the heavy suits and weapon and have a community discussion? doing this will allow them to gather our feedback while they focus on other things. all i want is for them to make us feel important somehow so it lets all of us know "hey these guys really care about us and together we will make this game better". if they make us feel that way i guarantee we will be more excited about this game and want to play even longer. right now it just feels that dust has entered into a partial stable state since it has been out for a year. we dont know whats next and whats already fixed and what we should be working towards. all we know is that next-gen is on its way and CCP hasnt engaged us about anything for awhile
Thing with matchmaking as CCP nullarbor told is its one variable he screwed around with. The most time consuming part was reading the results of that variable switch. After all it was a massive complaint about new players getting smashed by vetberries. |

Sony Network wrote:GoD-NoVa wrote:By now i'm sure everyone has heard the news of the Playstation 4.
He is right we need to post more feed backs more ore moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Dust has been in closed beta for 3 years (Or Longer but whos keeping track) , It just went on the market for PS+ members in July. |

the thing is......"I" care about corp and i care about everything this game has to offer. but, i cant say the same for everyone else if CCP takes this long with the development of dust. i wouldn't even be trying to push this hard if the PS4 wasnt coming out so soon. im trying to tell CCP what should happen to save the few players they have left while possibly gaining more. this game wont last if only a few eve players play it, CCP still needs to make a profit |
