By now i'm sure everyone has heard the news of the Playstation 4. With all of those new games we saw at their conference one can only be excited for this coming holiday season. This could also be a dangerous threat to DUST.
It has been almost a year since Dust has been out, and to tell you the truth....It hasn't really improved at all. Lets think about this, i understand it has come a long way and the gameplay has gotten better since the early days. BUT, if you think about Dust as a game it really hasn't made any improvements.
The way i think of it is, CCP has spent the last year doing what? Balancing weapons, balancing vehicles, balancing suits, etc. We have been playing for this long and we have only been able to play.....hmmm....7-10 maps? for a game that talks about 1000+ maps that number is very small. It seems as tho Dust is JUST now beginning to mimic what a FPS is supposed to be. But this seems only recent.
It's time for CCP to pull up their pants. It's time for CCP to get more involved with this community. It's time for us to test things as such as FW and PvE. This stuff NEEDS to come sooner than later. These two things alone will be the key to Dust surviving for years to come. Hell even a roll out of 20 more maps will help keep us satisfied till FW and PvE are implemented. Also, the old skirmish HAS to come back. PERIOD. CCP we need you guys to quit keeping secretes from us all the time. For example, we dont know when and what is going to be in this next big patch. Should i be saving my SP for a new weapon, dropsuit, or vehicle? I understand that you guys can do what ever you want but in order for this game to survive, ESPECIALLY since PS4 and possible Xbox 720 will be release this holiday, you NEED to keep us as close as possible with more and more info about whats is going on.
You post weekly updates sure, but these things only tell us which issues you are working on. They don't tell us such things as, if it has been fix, and what ideals do you guys have for fixing it. This is a time where we are about to user in a new era with next gen gaming, we should user in a next-gen community as well. Dust 514 should be backed by a seamless connection from DeVs and players.
How does everyone else feel on this? Do you think that you will be more interested in DUST 514 if CCP started releasing more info on whats to come and when? What if we could start a community voting process so we could vote on things we want implemented first? How about CCP telling us more details about what their doing to weapons, suits, and vehicles BEFORE they actually implement these fixes in? For example, CCP has stated that the heavy suit is being changed...to what? what if we dont like the change? If they told us about their ideals first dont you think we as a community can decide on if we think that fix will work?
Last point, If CCP decides to change something and doesn't tell us, it breeds frustrations to many players if what ever they did doesn't work right. If we had some say so on what the fix should be before it is implemented it doesn't work i believe it puts the blame on us a community not the DEVs. I think this would help eliminate some of the hate towards CCP and make many more players want to get on the forums and state their opinions. |

You have to understand what they mean by the massive number of maps- they'll be (more or less) randomly generated structures. Just what we have now (probably more stuff, ofc) thrown around over big maps.
As far as what CCP has been doing- you're spot on. I've been constantly saying that every major update will just unbalance everything again, so they should just say screw it and wait until we have more things to balance.
Anyway, I hope the stability improvements will allow the door to be opened for larger maps, which will in turn allow for more game modes and vehicles such as fighters. |

I believe they definitely should be keeping us informed as much as possible as to what's going on.it wasn't that long ago when they said the were going to make more dev blogs and I don't think one had come out since then. However I did read that they are working on a dev blog now so I suspect there to be one this weekend.
And yes right now everything's so repetitive we need more content! More stuff to do, or people are going to lose interest fast. |

i remember them talking about it during fanfest last year. from what i understood is that on each planet will have 15-20 districts, and each district on that planet will have the same color and same landscape. only the buildings and installations will change. but each planets will have distinct landscapes, and there will be 10,000+ planets. it is frustrating we only play such few maps |

also i tweeted CmdrWang on Feb. 2nd and he told me there was a plan to introduce a new merc pack "that next week". but weeks passed and no sign of a new merc pack was noticed until just last week i think. the starter pack sucks imho because it doesn't give us anything. they are only good towards someone who hasnt spent a day on dust yet. |

CCP has NEVER stated this game is no longer beta so that excuse will work just as long as CCP wants it to

I understand it is in beta. It has been for over a year.
Based on the baby steps this game has taken thus far, we are looking at a 5 year beta... |

When it no longer says 'beta, work in progress' at the top of the screen...........THEN it is officially released. Until then, we are very much still in beta. when ccp says dust is officially released, then it is officially released (instead of the players definition of release). |

It don't matter rather its in beta or not.. The game has been opened for everyone who wants to play and should still have standards.

clearly many people do understand what a beta means. We also know that their is a definite timer on CCP's head now. We told CCP it was too soon to go Open Beta because you're not going to get a chance at a second impression.
Sure the fanboys will stick around but beyond a small core the rest will decay in time. You already see the boredom and complacency sinking in, I mean i watch that intro everyime i load my game because thats what i look forward to the scope and scale promises to be epic.
I get that CCP has a very real 10 year roadmap fine. I get that CCP may be keeping cards close to the vest to prevent IP theft by other developers that are making similar IP's (Destiny among others). And frankly twitter and facebook are nice to keep players engaged alongside IRC but stuff lives and dies here on these forums. Frankly media and marketing needs to single thread all their stuff so it brings all mediums to one common traffic site which should be the CCP blog via Dust website with further in depth new on forums only accessible to players with valid Dust accounts.
You can crack all the jokes you want about how if i were a mature adult id wait patiently. Well i am a mature adult and i do know how to wait patiently but i also don't like to be completely in the dark. As is i have no sense of scope, vision, ideal or grand message to buy into other than
We will have a persistent MMOFFS universe that is a sandbox and cross-platform, You will get to own and run districts(maybe) with planetary soverignty(maybe) etc etc etc and it will all be SoonGäó.
Ok well what is the general roadmap, where do you see this game in 1 mo, 6mo, and 1 year from now. What are the challenges in the way, what as a community can we do to help you realize these goals. You can't ask community to be help beta test and then not engage them. I understand vacations and holidays, but cmon already. Really all we are trying to do is light a fire under CCP's arse because we want them to succeed and we believe in their concept but now its time to reveal a little more of the vision and re-engage us and recapture our imaginations from the disillusion most find themselves in. |

this is exactly what im saying! some of these players think, hey! no one is forcing you to play. these same people dont understand the situation that CCP is in. like i said before, a game that fails to keep its hardcore players is a game that fails |
