Can we please stop saying this is a "BETA"? I don't care what the top of the screen says, this isn't a beta.
You have a Free to Play game, EVERYONE can download it and play. As far as most people are concerned, this is a release. There will be no further skill point reset.
Most of us CLOSED BETA people shouted for CCP to rethink going to "open beta". We knew this game wasn't ready to be shown to the public, it's a laggy mess right now with multiple gear and map issues.
The reason we are so hard on CCP, you little fanboys, is because we like the potential of this game and want it to succeed. The OP made reasonable requests. Talk to your fan base CCP, communicate more.
This game will never truly die, it is a F2P FPS so why delete it. But then again, why play it later in 2013 when so many better options are available?
Here's a question for you CCP fanboys that defend this game no matter what anyone says....
If this was any other game, made by any other developer, would you stick around for a year without any new content being release? Seriously, look in the mirror and think about those other MMOs (calling this game an MMO is pushing it) you've played and why you stopped playing them. Was it because of lack of content? Was it because of boredom? Was it because something newer and shinier came along?
All 3 of those last questions apply to this game. Time to HTFU (Hurry the F Up) CCP with new content.
All you fanboys that want to ignore the obvious? Blow me.

You seem like a young, intelligent guy Iron Wolf, see you on irc all the time. But how about you just give your opinion instead of insulting the OP. If anything you should be insulting me, I think your the biggest fanboy out there for CCP, so read the last sentence in my previous post.
You never seem to lack for words or opinions on irc, why censor yourself now? |

Has CCP ever stated that DUST will be on the PS4... WHEN THE PS4 IS RELEASED?
I dont recall them ever saying this... Yes they have said it will be on the PS4 at some point in the distant future. |

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:Of course I am mad, and that is why earlier I stated why talking to you numbskulls is futile, you wont listen, you can't listen, you are unable to listen becuase you think you know more and there is no offering in being relived of your ignorance.
This street goes both ways IWS. If all you offer is "They are busy" or "They are working on it, give them time" then you are in the wrong post and haven't read anything anyone has posted in this thread... except what you want to read. Who is really being the hard headed one?
I hope you are as big a supporter of other games you like and not just CCP. The things the OP is asking for isn't over the moon. They are reasonable requests...
Heres an unreasonable one... Put out ANY kind of content. /signed last year |

Iron Wolf,
You do realise, as the OP has previously stated. We are more than a year into development and this game is no better than a basic FPS shooter with multiple network/software issues.
ONE YEAR IN BETA (that should stand out). How can you defend this? If this was any other company, do you think the people in charge would still be in charge? Probably not, this same issue has happened at large development companies and "creative differences" were cited and the person moved to a different area.
Am I calling for heads... nope. But you'd think after YEARS of development this game would have progressed faster. |

Goric Rumis wrote: Overall, I'm not sure I agree with the OP, but I think his sentiment is completely valid. It would help not only the image of the game, but the player retention, for the devs to be more communicative. I think it would also help for the devs to focus on some amount of "flash" for each update. We've seen measurable progress with each build, and in terms of balance and feel it seems to have come quite a way. But in terms of fun, it really hasn't improved much at all. I don't think I have much more fun with it now than I did back in July. The only feature I can think that was added since then to contribute to the "fun" factor was the laser rifle. (Someone correct me on that.)
They're a comparatively small developer taking on a completely new development experience, and all at once they're learning how to run development for a console, for a twitch-based action game, for a first-person shooter, for a balanced team-vs.-team arena, etc., for the first time. I can appreciate how challenging this is. I can also appreciate the potential it has to be completely groundbreaking as a result. But they have lessons to learn, not just about what they're developing, but about how to interact with the community in ways that are both similar to and different from the way they interact with the EVE community. (Even granted that there are substantial overlaps.)
I think they know they need to be more communicative. What they may not know is that they also need to keep adding shiny stuff on a regular basis. EVE players seem to keep asking for fixes to existing mechanics above new features, so the idea that players might be more interested in new features than in fixes might be unexpected.
I just have one more point to add: NoVa, you often talk about "what the community thinks" as if the community were coherent enough to offer even a majority opinion, let alone a consensus. And even a consensus won't always be the best alternative. Most of the time, the devs are going to have to work out what seems to work best in the context of the game.
I would love to pare down this post to the best points, but you make so many good ones. Excellent post +1 and please since your in an NPC corp think about applying to Impswarm so we can further communicate. (very serious)
Iron Wolf Saber wrote:Sounds like a beta. Does not sound like complete game you make it out to be, it also sounds like you need to take a 6 month break.
As for the invalid bug... its back but it has mutated into a odd form where it only invalidates half of the fittings available.
Please IWS, are you bucking for a job with CCP? You admit to alot of the games faults even after a YEAR in "beta", but still try and excuse the development decisions?
Pranekt Tyrvoth wrote:The game has been in beta for an unusually long time, and while there have been improvements, it seems as if they break something with every fix.
Weapon balance is still off after how many builds? The most common method of CCP to 'balance' something that only needs a tweak is to completely nerf it into uselessness (example: Missiles, all kinds).
Maps still have terrain glitches, one map in particular generates terrible framerate about half the time you play it, ambush still has atrocious spawns. These are all things that could have or should have been fixed by now, after all this time.
And in terms of communication, it's always been lackluster - for as long as I've been on the forums here, threads continually get brought up where people are feeling left in the dark.
Maps? I mean how long are we going to keep playing the same maps just recycled or updated a slight bit? Stating some overly ambitious intent of 1000's of procedurally generated maps and then only delivering a grand total of like what, 5 (some with recurring elements and shoddy design) doesn't really live up to the hype or come anywhere close.
And as has been said before, the only reason why a lot of people are even bothering to play it right now is due to SP.
I am not a wordsmith, but Pranekt apparently is and hits the nail on the head. His words are what alot of us closed beta testers have dealt with for close to a year. You're a great heavy and thank you for your insight. I would go one further and say the only reason I still play this game is because of my corpmates and the people I've met while playing this game. For this I thank CCP, but I will be the biggest advocate of pulling everyone I can out of DUST 514 and into the "next best thing" should this game not deliver in the near future.

Cat Poo wrote:No one is twisting your arm. Have patience or go find something else to do
How long do we need to have patience? How long do I have to wait for new content? I'm sure the majority of EVE players would love it if the FPS players moved on to a new game so they could "dominate". You might get your hollow wish.

Vrain Matari wrote:and this is exactly why I don't want any new features until core gameplay shines. More new features for players to moan about and drama over and be a general resource drain on the developers is not what DUST needs.
DUST needs to become a fps first, rather than the functional-but-frankensteinian patchwork of components it is now. All else is cart-before-the-horse fail waiting to happen.
CCP has spent a year trying to become an FPS first, if you haven't noticed, they are still trying. Most of us "get the FPS right" guys haved moved on to "give us more content" because we have become accustomed to bad hit detection etc.

This game has already been released regardless of the disclaimer at the top of the screen. No skill reset, everyone can join the game right now if they want to = release.
