Well while the Mur have comparatively more authority users than most landborn species do only a small number of them actually have any appreciable talent.

The purpose of Magi-Technology is to reduce the burden on Shapers by allowing them to store their Authorities which can be released at a later time to power a Fabricae to facilitate the function of pumps, lifts, drive systems, and even weapons discharges by reducing tasks that should require complex sequences of magic to perform into ones that only require singular commands.

I don't really know how to balance it's destructive power vs technology yet but I do intend to produce rifles, high pressure water cannon, ironclads, and amphibious armoured vehicles.

Seriously, you would have an easier time not trying to separate them. If you had tried with the A'Kami? You would have likely been allied with then assimilated into Parian culture. I find it hard to see the point that you would rather distance the people who, if conflict arises with, could prove to be the biggest threat to you instead of try to make them, the group who welcomes you the most, look to you as partners.
