So I am starting to see the ever increase petition to make the scrambler rifle have a 15/15 profile because Laser weapons are too good at taking out shields even tho that's what it is meant to do!
Now, part of this problem I think comes from thanks to the over abundance of Anti-Armor weapons. Face it shield users. There are more Anti-Armor weapons in the game AND the most used weapons in matches are Anti-Armor so anyone with a shield suit is not used to almost any weakness. If you take that into the shield suit users whining, it means that they are so used to get git with weapons that do minimal damage to their shields, that when a specialty weapon designed yo destroy shields comes inyo play, they cry and whine how said weapon is OP.
Now for damage profiles. There are currently 5 damage profiles. Plasma +10/-10
Rail -10/+10
Projectile -15/+15
Laser +20/-20
Explosive -20/+20
Now look at that. 3 damage profiles designed to take out armor. Yet do you see any armor suit user complaining about these? Do you seeany armor suit user complaining how the Projectile and Explosive chew right threw armor like it was nothing? No. Even if RR, HMGs and CRs are the most used weapons in the battlefield, you almosy never see an armor suit user whining about.
But now, if a Laser weapons comes into play, a shield suit user will scream for a nerf to it's profile. Again, this most likely comes do to the over abundance of Anti-Armor weapons and them being so used to be getting hit with those that when an Anti-Shield weapon comes out, they think its OP.
Can the weapon use some changes? Yeah. Does the damage profile need some chanages? No.

I would change profile to the scrambler just for parity reason, divide laser in to 2 category, beam and pulse. Beam should keep current profile, pulse should be +15/-15.
But like i've said i would like this just for parity reasons.

Shield users also like to talk about tank but they should understand that that crazy shield regen comes at a price. I use Amarr tech 90% of the time and i have no problem with a 15/-15 profile

1. SCR out DPSes those anti armor weapons 2. Shields tend to have embarrassingly low hp, so anti armor weapons usually kill them as fast or faster than armor suits 3. If shields were more popular, so would SCRs 4. Explosives do +20/-20, but how much DPS does that mass driver do? how willing are you to use grenades instead of shooting that heavy?
The problem is an already high damage weapon gets a massive innate damage bonus to low HP suits. I dont know wwhy youre so against this change, it would actually end up helping the SCR in the current armor meta.
also, you can call shield users whiny when theres an anti-armor equivalent of flux grenades. Finally, armor users dont whine about CR because they survuve longer vs a CR than a shield suit vs a SCR. ****, id wager my SCR kills shield heavies faster than my pro 5 HMG kills armor heavies.

Prof 5 SCR user and i support +15/-15
1. Tac AR has more damage per bullet, receives a better damage bonus against armor and has the same ROF has the Scrambler. The scrambler can charge but it looses DPS with a charge shot. The TAC is more effective than the SCR yet nobody criea about it.
2. Depends on how you fit your suit. If Dual tanked or biotic tanked, yeah.
3. Shields used to be OP. Even when everyone was running a shield based suit, I could barely see any SCR in the fields.
4. I can take out a suit in 2-3 shots. 4 if it's a shield suit. And depends. If it's a seninel, they get a splash resistance. But if I can land a direct hit, hell yeah. Now if I see a heavy basic frame I would still use my MD.
I have all Assaults and my survival rate is similar in all suits except one and that one is the MinAss which I can outperform easily in that one.
Other than that when I use my CalAss and hear hear a SCR I will try to stay out of its sight or wait for my team to kill said SCR user. It's all abouy situational awareness and knowing your weakness.

And naturally? Naturally Caldari and Gallente suits mirror each other. Same eHP stats, stamina, everything.
Min and Amarr are the different ones. Amarr gets more eHP but is slower while Min gets less eHP while being faster.
Now modded, shields do have a natural high shield regen. So you guys can't have high HP and high natural regen in one suit.
Now before you come throwing the "but you guys have repair tools and rep hives" I support the idea of shield suits having a light shield booster that lets them ignore the shield delay and begin rechraging the shoelds quickly and the idea of shields needing a damage threshold yo brake it's recharge phase.
And Rep hives were invented by the Caldari.

See the difference? I do. But alot of peoplw stopped using the Armor platets since the strafe penalty was added. Now almost everyone uses ferroscales.
I do agree that shield extenders also need a lil something. Mayne adding 10 extra HP to each one will help it out.

No armor has to sacrifice a slot to get reps.....passive armor regen isn't enough..... reactives also have a movement penalty while just 1% keeps me from jumping over railings in my amarr assault.....and jumping over railings is detrimental to combat, mobility and survival

i think almost all scrambler rifle users have one thing in common, at least one damage mod.
this puts a militia/basic SCR damage range in between a advanced weapon and prototype weapon as a minimum compared to weapons without damage mods.
lets look at my basic ammar assault vs my basic caldari assault suits for comparison. the ammar suit has higher EHP more damage at the cost of heavily reduced mobility and very slow regen in comparison to the caldari assault.
i can put a damage mod on the caldari suit and a complex reactive plate in the lows to balance the HP loss at the cost of regen, but i don't.
look at my advanced suits. the ammar will run 2 damage mods, 2 reps and 2 plates same EHP as my basic with better reps and 12% more damage, but slower. now my caldari 3 extenders 1 re charger 2 regulators same EHP again but considerably more regen 5% more damage.
we choose our trade offs and this is ususally to enhance the strengths of our suits.
i could have my caldari advance assault running 1 plate, 1 reactive plate, 2 sheild extenders and 2 damage mods to mirror the ammar and its not wrong to do so, it will decrease my TTK against the ammar assault increase the length of time it takes me to be killed against the scram at the cost of reduced mobility and regen.
this is what make dust unique and good. you have choices in what you skill into and how you fit your suits what is right for scenario A) may not be the best for scenario B) Overall its better for me to run i regen fit on my caldari assault, but the nemisis of that fit is the ammar assault with scram

Relatively sure ferroscales outperform extenders as well. I know they do at proto. proto ferroscales are at 75 hp.
On an unrelated note: Max Skills Proto extender: 72 point whatever HP Unskilled militia armor plate: 85 HP Militia Rep tool: 40 HP/s
Armor still has more buffer and equal, if not more, regen.
Look at the price difference, look at the fitting difference, look at the SP difference |

EDIT: I'd be happy if shield extenders werent still useless at basic. STD 60hp ADV 70hp PRO 80hp
Shields still lower than armor, low end shields useful. Proto extenders still less HP than basic plates. |

The more people repping, the easier it is for other objectives to be captured.
But I am not one sided. I support the idea of having a module on the high slots or an equipment to help bypass shield recharge delay.
But not an overall shield repair tool that works exactly like the armor one. That would be too OP.

The idea of damage profiles like EVE mean nothing, particularly with lasers vs. sheilds, because we don't have active defense modules and capacitor.
Lasers can be deadly against sheilds in a CCP game because the sheild user can tank the damage with active sheild mods as long as they can maintain cap. Also, distance can be better dictated in EVE and then throw in ewar like ECM and ammo types with different damage profiles and you have a better chance of balance.
Since none of that exists in DUST the best thing to do is nerf the power of scrams against sheilds or dump the damage profiles altogether until we can get more mechanics like EVE to resist a laser attack et al.
Also, do the beam and pulse lasers.
I'm better than laser focused; I'm hybrid focused.

Just because you are shield bias doesn't mean it won't make it OP.
A tool or module to make it pass the recharge delay with a 10 or 20 shield boost is enough to make shield suits better. I preffer the option of a module tho.

I'd like to point out that the HMG is a heavy weapon, scrambler is light.
By that logic the plasma cannon and forge gun should have similar damage output? sorry but that excuse doesn't make sense to me.

Also, Armor suits naturally have more armor than shield suits have shield. I believe the weapon you are looking for is called the HMG. And naturally? Naturally Caldari and Gallente suits mirror each other. Same eHP stats, stamina, everything. Min and Amarr are the different ones. Amarr gets more eHP but is slower while Min gets less eHP while being faster. Now modded, shields do have a natural high shield regen. So you guys can't have high HP and high natural regen in one suit. Now before you come throwing the "but you guys have repair tools and rep hives" I support the idea of shield suits having a light shield booster that lets them ignore the shield delay and begin rechraging the shoelds quickly and the idea of shields needing a damage threshold yo brake it's recharge phase. And Rep hives were invented by the Caldari. I'd like to point out that the HMG is a heavy weapon, scrambler is light. By that logic the plasma cannon and forge gun should have similar damage output? sorry but that excuse doesn't make sense to me. You make some good points here, but that one is just odd... He asked for a weapon and I gave him one. Also it's not like HMG heavies are rare. There more than common nowadays.

Even ignoring the core focused rep tool and the fact that rep tools rep without daly when getting shot. Also, even counting that one slot you have to sacrifice for a rep, armor suits still end up with more HP than shield suits, so are more likely to survive.

Heavies getting repped by a shield rep tool and an armor rep tool wouldnt be any more OP than a heavy getting repped by 2 armor rep tools. Caldari Sentinels are not meant for HMG vs HMG fights They are meant for long range combat and goof AV platform (Forge Gun) so you're argument is invalid. Not every suit in the gameus suppose to be made for CQC fighting.
And shield repair tool WOULD encourage more sentinel spam on Domination. Just imagine an Amarr Sentinel with unbreakable shields and armor. No. A module that works similar to the vehicle shield booster would be more than enough.
The more I go on with you, the more you seem like Ydub's alt. If that's the case, there is not seeing any reason and you are not worth the arguement if all you want is for shields to work exactly like armor. Even tho they are not the same.

You will be outperfomed by Gallente and Amarr Sents.
For example I will list all race's fighting style: Amarr: Stand and deliver. Great for taking heavy punishment and dealing heavy punishment. Gallente: CQC fights and flankers. Enough said. Minmatar: Run n' Gun similar to CoD style gameplay. Caldari: Long range fights.
Okay, now, I can slap an ScR on my Gallente and try to perform like the Amarr fighting style. But if I encounter an Amarr whilst doing this, the Amarr suit will beat me.
If I use a Caldari for CQC fights and encounter a Gallente. The Gallente will obviously destroy the Caldari.
If I use a Minmatar for Long Range fights with the RR and I see an enemy Caldari doing the same, the enemy Caldari will beat me.
You can mix and match however you want in this game. This is what'a great about it. But if you encounter a suit fighting within it's strength, you will lose.
Hell even the each race's special weapons can help you tell their fighting style.
Amarr: Laser Rifle (stand and deliver) Gallente: Shotgun (CQC fight) Minmatar: Mass Driver (can be used to stand and deliver but it is better used for running around and exploding everything in your way) Caldari: Sniper Rifle (long range combat)
Now if a Caldari suit user has an RR and plays within its intended fighting style with my added propositions of a damage threshold to brake shield racharge cycle and a shield booster module would gelp this suit perform extremely well within it's intended combat style.

Funny how people arent complaining about the laser rifle or the assault scrambler rifle. They are complaining about the tactical scrambler rifle. Because the combination of excellent hip fire, excellent ADS performance, long range, virtually no kick, and massive alpha damage is overpowered when it is applied to the type of tanking that has like 30-40% less top end health than armor.
Caldari and Minmitar should not have to brick tank with shield and armor just to survive a single weapon.
Other rifles do not have this kind of <1sec demolition on any kind of suit. Explosive weapons have low rates of fire and are situationally useless. Shotguns have very low range and low rate of fire. Bolt pistol has low rate of fire, small clip, charge mechanic. And so on and so on. The Scrambler does have a heat mechanic, but thats not much help when the mechanic only kicks in after 800-1100 damage has already been done and the scrambler user is still free to switch over to sidearm or just take cover until it cools down.
I dont necessarily care about how this is fixed, but it does need to be fixed. The weapon is overpowered as **** against shield tanked suits. If adjusting the profile isnt what you want, then suggest something else. |

Uhh hmg which operates in the same range as armor users lol! And the suit itself is difficult to kill by armor users so not only do we have a long range counter (rail) we have a short range counter where as shields only have a short range counter, nobody uses a scr for long range.

scrambler rifle does 100 damage per shot to shields...shueld hp is usually around 500...pulse lasers need a profile change, which also means more armor damage.
A ScR varient that does 120% damage to armor would be nice.

Hence the Cal Sent , the suit where your suppose to get the greatest shield max in comparison to the armor max where Cal sent doesn't nor can match the armor total .
One third or two thirds but it can't compete and with one slot ... the options are less then marginal .
What's the most shield's that a Cal Sent can obtain .?. what's the most armor that a Amarr sent can obtain .?. hell Gal sent .?. it can't match a Gal sent and everyone knows that shield are weak so you can't even compare the two .
Get a trooper with 800 shield and one with 800 armor and see if there is even a comparison , no ... shields melt faster then armor and shield suits suck even with max shields , where armor gains a buffer from shields , so they can recoup where shields can't .. even with the lowest shield dep times .
This is a no contest argument because armor users wont admit the facts and shield users can't get anyone else to see what's right in front of their faces .

And you then happen to be incredibly slow and not able to adequately react to events or assault from unexpected angles without committing serious time to your offensive.
Whereas I can currently make a Caldari Assault with 1200 eHP and a Minmatar Assault with 1100 eHP.
In terms of primary tank vs your Amarr assault thats 67 less shields [87 with energizer] on the Caldari Assault with no module equipped for a base passive shield repair of 30 per second and with the energizer 52. 43.
Now the Amarr Assault with Shield stats boosted has a shield value of 181. 25..... its not exactly hard to put a plate on the Cal assault to rival and exceed that in terms of armour.
This whole argument is a matter of "Grass being Greener" a fair number of armour tankers are actually using Ferroscales and Reactives to move faster and better repairs while Shield tankers are obsessed with eHP values and tend to ignore what benefits they currently have in their speed and regenerative capacity.

In reality, ScR DPS hovers around 450-500 for the VAST majority of people. Some people can getup to 525-550 out of it, but that is a small fraction of its users. An even smaller faction can remain accurate while doing so.
A CR however, can have a easily sustained 500-525 DPS because of its slower refire rate. As in most people can do that.

Amarr do have an edge over Caldari things, this is a common statute in EVE as well. Most Caldari Ships have 0% resistance vs EM damage even at T2.
EM is one of the Amarr Laser Weapons Primary Damage Types.

Except that's not really true anymore, since they added the strafe penalty to standard plates.
The vast, vast majority of armor users use ferroscales, and since 1-2 armor repairers is essential, its quite common for shield suits to have more shields than the armor suits have armor.
Most of my armor suits have less than 500 total armor nowadays in favor of faster speed, and more importantly, faster strafe speed. The only armor suit I bricked is my Laser Rifle...

I tried explaining in a previous thread that an ScR can not destroy shields on a tanked cal sent in a single charged shot I even used numbers on it but nope, they said my argument was weak and biased. Don't bother reasoning with these people

1-2 second regen timer is with just shield and no armor tank....my cal scout has a 1.2/1.8 second time frame (recharge, repleted recharge) with 80 armor and 453 shield. A militia scrambler rifle needs 8 shots to take my shield down...8 shots! how many bursts from a CR does it take to take down 453 armor? You need more time than a scrambler rifle does.
Finding cover is not the problem...maybe, but the alpha damage is. The Scr deals alpha doesn't it?

I said most. and with the 20% extra damage, along with proficiency 2 or 3, a damage mod, you get alot of damage. and 600 shields? Why would you have 600 shields and not 500 with 80 regen? I mean it won't make much of a difference in a competitive match not full of noobs, so why not have decent regen.
50 reps on shields is...meh, there are many logis around, so armor regen isn't really a problem. Also, armor has shield buffer that doesn't take too long to regenerate, atleast with a shield recharger/energizer.

Now, part of this problem I think comes from thanks to the over abundance of Anti-Armor weapons. Face it shield users. There are more Anti-Armor weapons in the game AND the most used weapons in matches are Anti-Armor so anyone with a shield suit is not used to almost any weakness. Now for damage profiles. There are currently 5 damage profiles.

Now look at that. 3 damage profiles designed to take out armor. Yet do you see any armor suit user complaining about these? Do you seeany armor suit user complaining how the Projectile and Explosive chew right threw armor like it was nothing? No. Even if RR, HMGs and CRs are the most used weapons in the battlefield, you almosy never see an armor suit user whining about.
But now, if a Laser weapons comes into play, a shield suit user will scream for a nerf to it's profile. Again, this most likely comes do to the over abundance of Anti-Armor weapons and them being so used to be getting hit with those that when an Anti-Shield weapon comes out, they think its OP.
Can the weapon use some changes? Yeah. Does the damage profile need some chanages? No.
I would have no problem with the numbers right now accept for scrambler if shields where buffed |

The armor rep is useful in this case. It cuts 111s off of your depleted armor repair time, and while that never happens to a full extent, it's a lot more useful than the 2-3s you're cutting off with that energizer... You should be ignoring your armor repair rate on any suit. The base repairs are always pitiful, so a repairer/reactive is useful no matter what suit you are on, because you will lose your shields sometimes. Close 1v1s are a thing, and you will lose shields, suits, so it's better to be able to get back to full HP at a fair speed, especially after those close fights. I try to keep my depleted armor time below 40s for all of my suits
You can replace an extended for an energizer/recharger if you want, as that is probably a play style choice, tbh. Its just me, but I'd prefer to have a stronger shields pool with an acceptable regen, rather than an acceptable pool with stronger regen.
The CR is also a personal choice. Fit an ARR if you want. I just don't like them.

I just don't like them. 2 energizers on a cal assault cut more time off, and if you get shot in cover, wait 3-4 seconds and you have a decent amount back, 100 extra shields isn't going to let you win against a ScR, as that's the biggest issue.

because I am not a scrub and actually know how to perform hit and cover style warfare the extra shield hp wont help if you messed up, it is really that simple
beside that nothing stops you from using a shield extender in its place. point is, majority of complainers dont know how to fit their suit and whine in forums instead of trying to improve. |

Like I said. Its pretty much personally choice as far as that is concerned.
But you can't always expect to be near cover to hide behind, all the time. The energizer requires that you play more tactfully in your positioning choice. You can expect that extender to absorb another Scrambler shot, or CR Burst, or 2 AR shots, or 4 ACR shots... all the time. It essentially negates surprises, and gives you a little extra time to react to most threats.
That extender provides you with a more mobile play style option by allowing you to be a little more reckless with your movement and positioning, while the energizer will improve your ability to bunker down and provide fire from afar. Its all about how you play.
Part of the reason I don't like Caldari suits. They just don't appeal to my play style at all. Peek-a-boo at range just isn't my thing, because if I want to fight at range, I'd rather stand and deliver with a Laser Rifle, and you need an Amassault to make the most out of that playstyle.

yeah, when i had my amarr assault it was beast....almost the same felling as a heavy suit, i would rather it than my stupid min assault
