The only way that CCP can blow it out of the park is to say AND SHOW: "Project Legion is simply 'DUST 514 on the PC.' Oh, and PS4. *waits for applause to die.* They are the same game. Or, even worse than bad news; no news. Another year of complete tone deafness that gives a starving community a cracker of information every few months.

Hey guys,
We are not planning to make any announcements about or show anything new for DUST 514 or Project Legion at Fanfest, but CCP Rattati and CCP Rouge will be on hand to talk to attendees and participate in all the usual activities with everyone such as pub crawls and roundtables.

I would highlight two things here:
1. Last Fanfest was a train wreck. (Personal opinion.) The Fanfest before it was a bunch of promises that never happened. (Definite fact.) I, for one, am glad we are not going for round three on this trend.
2. Generally, if you want to get a bunch of big reveals for Fanfest, you have to hold some information back for a bit to get a big announcement together. I, also for one, would rather CCP just tell us what's up. Something the CPM has been actively encouraging.

Shocker.
It's honestly difficult to continue to support CCP in this endeavor. I look at the current energy and excitement on the EVE side and look at what we have going on here... ridiculous.
In all honestly, I would have expected CCP Rouge to have made an announcement of this nature based on how last FanFest went for the Dust / Legion community.

yes none of that is bad news. i have no issues starting over, or if nothing transfers, and sorry but legion will not go ps4. I also have no real issues with radio silence as long as they are working on something. it ha snot even been a year, the last bit of info was july. Ask when the last bit of info came out on valk? in may. as long as its progressing then meh.
Will note i just saw the dev reply after posting this. I'm actually ok with that. As the cpm member said, last years announcement was a disaster. i;d rather something tangible or nothing at all. New ccp keeping quite on stuff not set then having loose lips and loads of disapointment |

Why hadn't CCP released the information now though? Many players are upset about the seemingly lack of communication, would it be better served if they talk about some of stuff, not all, now or soon as in this year? |

Because streaming a Q&A round table worked out really well in May? Lol
But seriously now folks, it's good that this news is now out. The last Fanfest was a train wreck of pandering to the PC master race made worse by the frankly insane bollocks of promises made for Dust by Rouge's predecessor 12 months before that.
As a Fanfest vet I can tell you that the far more interesting stuff gets spoken about in the Round Tables and the pubs. Not streamed for sure but at least there's no hype about what's said there.
It's likely going to be Eve: Valkyrie's time in the sun at Fanfest I'm guessing so there's only so much time that can put to one side for all off CCPs products. Dust and Legion will be very much on the back burner in March but they'll still be Rouge, Rattati and I'm sure some others will make the trip. They'll be answering questions and I'm sure Rouge will be hijacking Eve TV at some point too.

Legion is vaporware.
It is not coming out, and when Dust is done it's done.
The only option they have for saving their studio is a PS4 port and eventual migration, but Rouge would rather not do it. Apparently he is under the impression that Legion and the engine its running on will somehow be relevant in 5 or 10 years or whatever it takes for them to theoretically get Legion out of the door.
Hilmar does not have that kind of patience, and he is already soured to the way Dust turned out. This studio is going to be killed slowly. They will start peeling members out of Shanghai one at a time based on usefulness to work on EVE, and when the team has gotten so small that progress no longer happens the rest will finally be laid off.
Ergo, Hello World of Darkness.
I would very much like for everything I just said to be a false. It would make me happier than anything.

Legion is not a new game with a completely new player base. You already have a player base, paying customers. Greenlight the damn game or admit that it's not coming. But don't leave everyone guessing for months.

Imagine that.
My only regret about not being able to go, now, is not being able to look at Rattati and Rouge in the eyes and tell them - in person - how severely they ****** up.
Every month we get some kind of new rhetoric about how there's a "plan in the works to better communicate/improve communication". At this point we all know it's just a bunch of PR non-sense. It's 100% BS. Sad part is that even when CCP Shanghai -KNOWS- it's no longer working they still adhere to this constant ploy of "we love dialogue/feedback" and "we're actively working on improving communication" despite having absolutely no proof of it at all.
This is all the evidence this community needs to finally say, without a shadow of a doubt, that CCP Shanghai has absolutely no long term plan in play, they have nothing to offer their players, and what's left is literally just milking revenue to keep the studio alive. The fact that they have had nothing to say, still have nothing to say, and now confirm that they -WILL NOT- have anything to say is all the rhyme and reason we need to know that we are being bull-shitted.
But what's even more ****** off is the CPM is even looking at this with rose-shaded glasses. Ask them if they're optimistic about Legion and they deflect/ignore all questions besides that relating to Dust 514. So not only is CCP outright ignoring their community about all this, the CPM apparently isn't doing anything to question it. This coming from the guy who always trash talks CEOPyrex about his downing the CPM.
And beyond that our new EP, who the -last- CPM regarded as a "savior" is a bold-faced liar:
Quote:Again, Project Legion is still in an early stage of development but the whole idea behind giving a sneak peek at Fanfest is to get early feedback - and I really want to keep this discussion going, show you progress through dev blogs and such and listen to what you have to say.
Please post your feedback and questions in this thread - and let's keep this conversation going. The team and I will be reading this thread, and I will respond as soon as I can.
CCP Rouge
We have not seen any devblogs about Legion, absolutely -NO- information for several months, and any sign of them "listening" went with those conversations. You -CANNOT- have a "conversation" when only one party is talking. If you sit on a phone for fifteen minutes waiting for the person to respond but they say nothing, you hang the ****** up and move on.
So my next question is this: Do they have nothing to show at Fanfest, or do they have nothing to show -PERIOD-? Why else would they just -not- talk about it, despite saying they don't want to repeat past mistakes?

Shanghai should really do something for Fanfest, even if its not at the formal event. Its a time where people who enjoy the New Eden IP get together and get excited about CCP products.
A couple weeks after do a livestream event on twitch or something, show off some new assets and drum up some excitement for the game.
Seriously, the only emotion I feel for Legion now is indifference, where 6 months ago I was ecstatic about it. |

Valkyrie, that mediocre game isn't going to sell. Do CCP really think that the headset gimmick is going to make them rich? I have seen better fighter space sims on PC 5 years ago. Hell current big titles / in development titles already blow it out of the water.
CCP jumps from project to project..... great. No WoD, no Legion. Just some clunky headset fighter sim......
IF you know that CCP knows that Legion is dead in the water, I would hope you would urge them to tell us the truth.

And beyond that our new EP, who the -last- CPM regarded as a "savior" is a bold-faced liar: Quote:Again, Project Legion is still in an early stage of development but the whole idea behind giving a sneak peek at Fanfest is to get early feedback - and I really want to keep this discussion going, show you progress through dev blogs and such and listen to what you have to say.

I don't always agree with you Aeon but in this instance I feel exactly the same way.
Not only that I think CCP are digging their own grave by constantly 'jumping ship' as it were from project to project. If Valkyrie is there big new hype piece then I am totally disappointed. So much for Legion.

Serious question how does CCP expect to bring in additional revenue from players with Dust and Legion fans being left in the dark.. For example myself personally would at least go load up on passive boosters if I knew there was a future for either one... As it stands now I'm not spending a dime on uncertainty... |

I honestly do hope that CCP will one day figure out that engaging us in a transparent and direct manner will work out better for them than ill-considered statements and misinformation or total silence.
Let me link a couple of BAMM's vids here.
http://youtu.be/ylBx5Ao1L80?list=UUSbWEaDqT1Y3N3caikmDggg http://youtu.be/R9N1LMKFILE?list=UUSbWEaDqT1Y3N3caikmDggg
For the record, I think BAMM is at a minimum asking pertinent and incisive questions; you may not like how he does it some times or vehemently disagree but he is only working with the information and speculative ideas that are out there.
I certainly don't know the ins and outs of CCP and it's difficult to judge these types of things. I don't know how accurate or inaccurate BAMMs predictions are, however, they are at least as valid as many of the other folks putting ideas up and often with less effort and homework than he's put in.
Do I think BAMM is right about CCP and the future...I don't know. I hope not and after chatting with BAMM I think he hope's his take on the possible future with CCP is wrong as well.

Vladislav, tell the french guy, that most of us like its ideas announced on last Fanfest and the only thing I expect is to announce (like EVE Online) a road map for what is comming with concrete dates. Videos, pics, dev blogs are also expected, but a road map with concrete dates is first.
If concrete days is hard, something like "autumn of 2015" can be used

Concrete anything is hard in the real world. When I see a sign that says construction will be on a road from May through October, I'm fully aware that road is going to be torn up for at least the next three years.
A lot of people still act like the year before last's Fanfest was full of "promises". Like fighters, MTACs, and MAVs. But they weren't promises, they were a showcase of concepts. Some had dates on them, and that turned out to be a really really bad idea.

That is incredibly disappointing. No information on Legion? A game that has been in development for over a year and you have nothing you can show off? Especially considering much of the art assets and balancing numbers are already there via Dust. Legion is vaporware. It is not coming out, and when Dust is done it's done.
Why do you say this? because a game that has not been in devlopment a yera yet and you got info 3 months ago has gone quite on the news side? You know they are working on it, i would not call it vaporwear just yet, maybe next year, but not after only a few months of devlopment
Quote: The only option they have for saving their studio is a PS4 port and eventual migration, but Rouge would rather not do it. Apparently he is under the impression that Legion and the engine its running on will somehow be relevant in 5 or 10 years or whatever it takes for them to theoretically get Legion out of the door.
Uh what? EVE makes there money atm, with some from Dust. Going to ps4 won;t 'save there stuido' making smart choices will. And not hyping something that is not ready yet will. Id rather they stay quite then pull a chris roberts who will have to gut huge chunks of his game at the final release. At least you can;t be pissed if something promised did not show up.
Quote: Hilmar does not have that kind of patience, and he is already soured to the way Dust turned out.
You honestly dunno what you are talking about. And thats alright. WoD suffered because there cash cow suffered. Then it made no sense when they decided to focus on just the New Eden ip to keep WoD. It would save more money and resources in the long run. Dust is out and making money, and getting some updates. I doubt shanghi has to worry. And as i said before it has not even been a year. No, YOU don't know what you're talking about. You have absolutely no clue as to the history or inner workings of CCP. I am intimately familiar with both. I have had many friends in and out of the CSM and CPM over the years and know many ex-employees from CCP itself. I know exactly how their middle management is completely disconnected from reality, how employees get shifted from between teams on a regular basis due to extreme levels of incompetence which stalls any progress from happening, and how top management is more than a little influenced towards trend chasing and hasn't been able to follow anything through since EVE's original inception 10 years ago.
Legion IS vaporware. Everyone on the inside knows it, and everyone with a brain on the outside knows it. Some people on the inside are in denial, and struggling like hell to make enough progress so that they don't get shut down. Rattati is pretty much the only thing keeping their lights on right now, and he won't be able to do that for the length of time it's going to take Legion to happen because the numbers for Dust ARE falling bit by bit.
If it takes you 10 more years to figure out this project is doomed, I feel genuinely sorry for you. But you are the one in the dark, not me.

Well it was around December/January when CPM0 started getting very pessimistic and saying that CPM1's term was going to be a lot worse than their term, and that CPM1 would be hated by the community regardless of what they did. This of course was back when they expected to have the CPM1 election before FanFest. I think one of the CPM0 actually quite. They knew that DUST development would be stopped after 1.8 and that most of the Devs had already shifted to working on Project Legion, but they could not tell anyone due to NDA.
Incidental, CPM1 is bound by the same NDA, but have you noticed that CPM1 are all really cheerful recently? It is quite a contrast from the way CPM0 was acting last year.

If it takes you 10 more years to figure out this project is doomed, I feel genuinely sorry for you. But you are the one in the dark, not me. I want the EVE FPS brand to succeed. Legion is not going to be a simple port of Dust -- It is a completely different game with a completely different premise. It is going to have an extremely long development cycle because that's the pace CCP operates at. Let alone with a staff that was almost entirely neutered. A PS4 upgrade of Dust is the only way the numbers are going to go back up within an operational timeframe that will not result in the studio shutting down. And frankly it's the only thing the team can manage with their current size. There are literally no other options. Hilmar isn't going to keep feeding CCP Shanghai the revenue from EVE. That simply isn't how it works. Rouge gets to decide now whether he sets his team on the path to unemployment with Legion, or gets his house in order and kicks Dust into full gear on PS4. The door is closing, but it's not closed yet.

You're not going to argue with me because
1. It will put your position at risk.
2. You know I'm right.
So stop putting on the defensive act for CCP. If you had any real loyalty to CCP you should be focused on convincing Rouge to save his team.

So silver lining and all that. I take it you never tried valk... it will make money, with no problems
I would be sceptical about that.

Lol But seriously now folks, it's good that this news is now out.

Pretty much this.
I'm not going to disparage or dismiss the opinions that others have about this particular subject. People has differing points of view based on their own perceptions. These, they are perfectly entitled to.
That being said when it comes the claiming of sources in CCP, I can honestly say that in my time so far in the CPM, no one making claim to x happening before y is in place or z will happen next week, has been even close. None of them knew or predicted 1.9, expressing even more surprise than most. With sources as sharp as theirs you'd expect them to have known something that big. Surely......?

You guys can't be serious?
What incentive is there for a DUST player to buy fanfest tickets if you guys are just gonna be there to chat with.
You couldn't of all been sitting around chatting at the office and some random green developer asks "What are we doing this year for fanfest?" And the offices response was... "Frack it" "We have to be there to answer some questions, but otherwise frack it"
We never needed something that is gonna become a reality in the next year... And we don;t need you guys to promise that bullshit either.
We would like to see what the Future of this IP is going to look like. We would like to see cutting edge concepts advancing this IP to come out... How about Boarding a titan? And fighting for ownership?
How about CCP Rouge actually follow up with what he said last time... And offer a community wide event that extends from EVE to DUST like the fight for Caldari and Gallente Scenario.
One thing is for sure... Doing nothing is not the answer... Build some hype around your product for your own damn sake... For your own future at CCP and the future of the company... Because all the noise in the industry is slowly drowning CCP out. |

Thank you for answering our question on this. It would be nice to know if Legion is vaporware or not. As an Eve pilot I can see how Dust514 is one of the most immersive FPS in terms of builds. I am glad CCP Games took a risk on the PS3 but ecstatic for a possible PC release. I have my fingers crossed for a PC release. It would be frakking amazing. No offense, but we can't wait in silence like we did with WoD. That would be really lame. Maybe next year in the spring? And I Agree with Mr. Soraya Xel- |

I'll also note. Because nothing is planned right now doesn't mean you won;t have a small blip of an announcement. My guess is that it will be a big fanfest for valk and eve. Dust and legion will be ont he back burner. But as i mentioned in another thread, ccp could change there minds or have Rouge get on stage during ccp presents and make a small announcement, or not.
For eveyone whining about 'we need news even if it not true' you must all be new to ccp's world. There are people who still ***** about no planitary flight. Even though it was a simple concept and not something that was coming. I prefer them to not say anything, work on legion or IF legion is doa (which i doubt) work on dust and not shoot themslves further in the foot by saying something stupid.
Fan fest last year was a huge misstep and pr nightmare. They dragged dust to the center and shot it in the head, when they really did not mean to. So better to stay quite till something is set in stone then get the fans riilled up. |

It takes alot to build a company and make payroll-so with the last 6 years of a world wide economic funk, and Hellmar kept the doors open so give credit where credit is due.
I looked at CCP's job openings for clues, and i noticed two positions to be filled this year, hard dates. So the hiring manager still had budget for those new hires, hiring dates sliding is a bad sign and this is not the case.
They just moved Ratatti with his family, as well as others-thats not cheap.
I'm not sure about Rogue, but if he's really french the "fresh bagettes" clause in his job offer wasn't cheap either.
I looked at the Technology write off and it was probably Carbon development, so technically was Dust related, but not DUST514.
Hellmar never struck me as a shooter, so it must be hard for him after being burned by this game, but his dream is still evidently alive. He is now looking at a number of paths to walk down, and is taking his time-he is going to follow the money, because it pays the bills.
If you need to lift your spirits, or hope renewed, watch the EVE prophesy trailed-Gallente?

That's at least my thought. I was about to upgrade my rig, to play SC, but since all those changes, the urge is not that big anymore, I may give Dust some more month and see what happens.
If I however move to SC, I doubt I'll come back anytime soon, since that game seems to have so much to play with it might take a while to grab it all...
1) No its not counter productive. TBH its prolly easier on them to manage an FPS from a pc then to have to deal with sony.
2) Please, if concole players are bitching about havign to switch to pc for dust do you HONESTLY think they will play that monstrosity of vaporware if it ever comes out?
3) SC at this point is nothing but hype. With CR at the helm it will take forever to be made or have to be gutted like a fish with 90% of it stripped out to even be offical. He should stop adding new crap, get the core game out and then add stuff. But hes not.
Anyway, SC is a non issue vs legion. You can easily play new eden and SC at the same time. So its really nothing. And i'm 90% sure SC will be a huge flop. But we will see.
On another note The new Dust roadmap shows nothing of legion but what looks like some good improvements to dust. So things are being done, just which direction is the issue. I wish ccp would just announce a greenlight already then some speculation can die. |

Agreed it's probably easier for CCP to manage their own game without having to go through Sony. Star Citizen does have hype up for it but not as much as Titanfall and Destiny did , at least from what I've seen since I don't pay that much attention to it. But I wasn't paying much attention to Destiny and Titanfall but saw plenty of it.( mostly commercials). We've seen more of Star Citizen than we have of Legion though.
Should Legion be on the ps4?

And as titan fall and destiny did not kill Dust... Thats the point with this stupid argument 'oh ccp is scared of game x! watch game x kill eve/dust/whatever' No, ccp is not scared. No game x won't kill anything. Its not like most people can;t play two games at once. sheesh.

Wow.
Just found this thread and unfortunately read all of it.
It would be a mistake for CCP not to do SOMETHING Dust/Legion related at Fanfest, precisely because of the results of the last two.
They F'd up majorly, and they need to take the time, even if it is just a little, to make it right.
So far, Fanfest and to Dust has been synonymous with deception, intended or not, and flat out disrespect to the community.
If they don't take the time to have some sort of panel, it doesn't have to be big, just something small but positive with no promises or exaggerations, then they only cement the view of those within this community that believe we are thought of as a second class of gamers/customers.
Rattati, Logibro, Frame and CCP Shanghai have done a lot for Dust lately, but even then it feels like they are fighting an uphill battle within CCP.
If CCP as a whole can't take the time to carve out even the smallest of portions of time for Dust, then their silence really says all that can be said about how CCP views Dust/Legion.

There are severall things EVE capsuleers have always wanted and have been crying for for years; first the foundations which is EVE itself offcourse an economic driven world that can be fought for or explored to its fullest, a form of planetary interaction, along with station and ship interaction and beeing able to fly fighters. When ccp showed a little screen at fanfest last year, where all three games where under one menu. To me it just confirmed how much they want it them selfs aswell. However as much fun as dust could be, the limits of the ps3 are holding the proper development back. When ccp made the promises of cool new stuff back in the days of BETA, i do believe they had the intention of progressing the game like with EVE on a seasonall base with major leaps, But due to the limitations of the ps3 and sony, they just got knocked down to many times. And these same limitations will still be there on ps4/ps5/ps6 etc, no matter how one looks at it. If they had made Dust514 for pc straight from the gekko, Dust would be a hole different game, for we would have had skirmish 1.0, beeing able to go into proper buildings and interact with them, we would have our Mtac's, MAV, and fighters. And we would have our own interactive world(s). Ccp rouge predecessors never really failed Dust514, Dust514 just spitted them out saying hey i'm on a console, not on a pc.
Legion and Valkyrie are the answer for ccp's nightmare, aslong as they can develop them in a way they know best and that is on the pc, (i'm not saying it should never port over to a console, but the proper foundations need to be there first). There are simply no limitations as to what one could do, but most of all it atracts the one group it was actually meant for and that is EVE Capsuleers/ EVE Fans. So no i do not believe Legion is dead. The fact that CCP is not talking is proberly due to there own NDA and that something big is coming, the question is only when they will announce it and when can we start playing it. And aslong as Valkyrie learns from Dust514's mistaked by porting a pc game to console, it will do just aswell as EVE. If not then Valkyrie will end up like dust514 and that is i'm sorry to say a sinking ship. |

Two years in a row and ccp has nothing new to say or give to you on a game you waste time on for reasons im not sure of. I do give them props for basically telling you "you're not getting anything" rather than last years flop of " stay tuned we have some exciting announcements for dust 514" but its not much better. I doubt anyone from dust 514 community will go or watch fanfest because it would be nothing but a big waste of time.

It's been said that they'll be talking about both games at roundtables and stuff, so as long as we have people there reporting what's said (hint: we will), we'll get some info out of fanfest. I remain cautiously optimistic.

Dear CCP Frame,
Here I give me honest thoughts about last fanfest.
I was very hyped about Legion. I sold me ps3 when hearing everything. I was very exited to hear more info about Legion at next fanfest until I stepped on this message.
I don't wanna destroy dreams but http://eve-offline.net/?server=dust Look to past year dust players are slowly decreasing each month. People are moving to the ps4. Whats next? Saying nothing this fanfest would by very very bad for the Dust and Legion IP.
I was even thinking that this was a trolling post. Sorry about that but I believe legion is very importent for the EVE ip to evolve to the next step titan boarding etc. I want something just as emmersive as star citizen is becoming but then better.
While I agreed I am a part off the PC master race I bought a ps3 because dust 514 in the first place. Promises were that it would become involved with EVE greatly. Legion for pc is something I am waiting for long time.
Atm I am unsubbed at eve and waiting whats gonna happen NEXT so also the FPS part. Have played eve on and off for 7 years.
Of course stuff can still change fanfest is a few months away. But this is my thinking the big why you should talk about legion in a official presentation and have a plan ready.
Anyway I watch next fanfest and see what happends.

Unless Legion is going PS4 instead of PC, or they abandoned Legion and DUST is going PS4 (both of which are highly unlikely) they have nothing to do at E3 in regards to Legion/DUST.
Better yet, why would they have anything to say at all if not at Fanfest?

Well, if CCP has no plans to announce ANYTHING about Dust or Legion... that can be translated as them not caring about Dust/Legion, besides it being a passive income source feeding off gamer hopes.

Well, it would've been hard to announce the next releases at Fanfest considering they're being deployed before, so nothing surprising or new with that process.
Having nothing to say about either game's future (DUST/Legion) at their own event is hilariously stupid, and nothing has or is indicating such information will come in other ways, so i can't see the point in trying to defend what they're doing in any way.
Edit: Saying last years Fanfest backfired depends on your view. Legion is to make their EVE players happy, and I believe Fanfest didn't backfire in regards to that.

Last Fanfest definitely backfired. Nuking their existing product's playerbase for a demo of improved graphics that didn't even show any new gameplay? Um... yeah, that's what you call a backfire.

I would say it nuked a lot of the core playerbase/community. DUST gets a lot of new players, and particularly there's been a huge uptick in South America, which I think is pretty noticeable in-game. But a lot of the core community seems to have moved on. And yeah, Fanfest is kinda the number one cause there.

Announced Legion earlier? That would've made people quit sooner.
Announced Legion later? People would've quit anyway due to no development on DUST, plus CCP would have had nothing to say at Fanfest.
CCP had to announce Legion at Fanfest, and I firmly believe not announcing it there wouldn't have changed anything, as people would've quit anyway (because as I said earlier, DUST was doomed no matter what).

The salvage process for DUST didn't start until after Fanfest when they realised they needed to keep working on DUST, so there wasn't anything for DUST to talk about. Pretty much all focus and work had been on Legion up to Fanfest.
I also don't know what that would've really changed. Announcing another game dooms DUST, no matter what.

I would have thought having a presentation at fanfest regarding the direction of dust and the new road map would have been appropriate.
I find it hilarious that last year they had nothing to say about dust, and they still had a presentation. Whereas this year they actually have something to say about dust, but there will be no presentation.
They've made some steps forward for dust, they should talk about it at fanfest. |

Soraya, it's not an announcement that's a bad idea, it's what you announce and how. Dust was already dying, and Legion was not announced well. Giving full thought on how to treat the Dust playerbase should have been a priority, because us PC people aren't going anywhere, and would play Legion regardless of what happened with Dust.
I got the surveys and heard the Legion announcement, and came back to play Dust, just to see the game evolve. The current Dust team has done a good job making Dust something remotely enjoyable again. But the game cannot evolve here. You can polish and fine tune all day long, but evolve it will not. EVE was able to evolve over time, because it not only had a dedicated fanbase and dev team (as Dust also does), but it also had a platform with which it could evolve, the PC.
Dust does not have this.
Someone can't go out and say, 'let me improve my PS3' so I can enjoy Dust better. Dust is a console online multiplayer exclusive. Such an exclusive dies with its system. How many people still play Killzone 1 multiplayer? How about Halo: Combat Evolved or Halo 2? http://www.bungie.net/en-US/Forum/Post/2139032/0/0
But you can easily find those games on PC today.
Even if CCP just straight up ports it raw to PC, that immortalizes it. And brings them more money. And if they really really want to, they can make it great. But to leave a game like this, which has far more potential than Killzone or Halo ever had, on this one platform that cannot grow, and not even announce something like, "We will move it to PC eventually, don't sweat." leaves me speechless. So for me and some others, it doesn't matter how healthy Dust may get on the PS3, if nothing is announced, and no plans for its future success are considered, it's a waste. It's like having a party on the Titanic.
Killzone made numerous iterations of itself, as did Halo. Why should Dust die? Why can't something long term be considered? It's an excellent product? What am I overlooking?
WoW is still around. Everquest is still around. Mechwarrior is still around. Ancient games. Alive because of both a dedicated playerbase and platform that will never grow old. Why is Dust being denied this still? Because people got mad over an announcement that was made improperly?
I'm done with Dust for now. I set the timetable that I would stop playing Dust, if they don't show any interests in porting it or making it evolve, namely if they don't say what they want to work on by FF. But they are on their timetable, not mine.
If they get going in a direction that I agree with again, then I will come back. I'm not deleting my character or anything drastic like that. I am just not going to play Dust or buy anything from them, for it.

Because holding stuff to announce at Fanfest is a stupid idea, and I'm glad CCP is posting stuff as soon as it's possible, like announcing the next release and such, rather than waiting for a marketing event that has backfired two years in a row. How about Halo: Combat Evolved or Halo 2? http://www.bungie.net/en-US/Forum/Post/2139032/0/0But you can easily find those games on PC today. Yes here I am on the Forums mostly awaiting news about Legion but wouldn't be surprised if it got canceled or is in the same position WOD was. Legion is only worth spending the time on these forums because it'll be everything that Dust was suppose to be. I don't waste my time in game anymore because it's still a frustrating game. Lack of teamwork, still getting stuck on stupid **** sometimes, same 3 modes we had before fanfest( I don't count FW and PC anymore).

Its only been a year. Honestly, cancled in a year is not very logicial. And it would be wise of them if IT was cancled to tell it, **** off that bit of blood, then focus heavily on dust. But i just don;t think thats whats going on. I suspect something big might happen at fan fest, but who knows. And i'm here mostly waititng for legion as well. I couldn't agree more in terms of the way Legion is silenced at the moment. I am sure the working class of CCP games want to talk about it but have strict "orders" to be silent. In this phase of the game industry it isn't best to stay silent. Look at how management nearly destroyed Eve Online a few years back, it simply doesn't work anymore.

I disagree. Being more open about 1) a game not yet green lite that is having devs switch in and out of it to work on dust, is not very wise.
2) Lets say, after the Rouge Wedding, that dust rebounded with player numbers and money, lets say CCP is mainly focused on legion, and dust is still just getting some random old backlogged filled, maybe to pave the way for legion boo knows. But lets say dust is making money, maybe not tons, but enough. If they did not have anything about dust, because dust is in a state of shut down, and they mentioned only legion and shown its progress, it would drive MORE players away from dust. From a business perceptive this makes zero sense.
Also lets flip it. Lets say they show some neat things for dust, and nothing of legion, cause legion is not ready to show anything. And then. lets say they get lots of feed back form players saying 'we want legion' or lets say a few months later they make a breakthrough and someone legion is done sooner. Then they cancel the dust development stuff they showed at fan fest, and that will leave a bad taste in players mouths.
I mean hell, you have guys who are foaming at the mouth for Star Citizen who play eve and keep mentioning a fan fest video ccp did in 04 as a possible concept for atmospheric flight. Things ccp has announced gets held over there heads if they don;t finish it. So why announce anything thats not even close to be done.
The point i am making, Dust and Legion are on a precarious position atm. If they do or say the wrong thing it could damage both products for no reason. So best to stay silent for anything not done so you don't hurt your product more then you need to. |

So they released the schedule. Sadly I don't see anything about legion into it.
I do see this. Make Eve Real GÇô Creating Planetary Civilizations. But thats about real life.
So are the devs gonna by as rocks and ignore the lowering player base and don't say anything about dust or legion?
Atm still unsubbed on eve before the future vision is clear every year the concept changes 360 degrees. I want to control a war barge in eve online and hire mercs. I am really not happy how stuff is going just a honest opinion but I am following it because I hope stuff does becomes better. If not then i am off to star citizen.
People that go to fanfest try to get some info out of them if they are still developing on Legion.

Well there is some good news for us Dust514 players on the PS3. Dust 514 is now profitable for CCP games. Which means if they port it to the PC it would mean more profit. It would seem upper management are making silly decisions on PL...no offense

Quote:This is one of the most surprising things from Fanfest this year: CCP is happy with DUST 514, and the game is going well. I also asked about Project Legion, the sort of announced game from last year that CCP said may or may not become a product. I was told there was nothing to announce.
"WeGÇÖre looking into a lot of options for whatGÇÖs going to happen next for Dust," P+¬tursson said. "ItGÇÖs too early to say anything to be honest. The game is now a profitable business for CCP, and thatGÇÖs a good thing."

That's...unfortunate. Not surprised about this news tbh.
I find it ironic that they tried to kill dust at the previous fanfest and are now going back to console focus. Too bad, maybe they could have avoided the red wedding completely and had put the last year or so focusing on one format.

Eve offline != subscription numbers. Only whos is online. You really can not get any real info from that site besides how many players are on. And eve has been peaking at 40K+ during prime time for months now, so its rebounding. But again, there is not enough information to support the claim that even is down subscribers. Even if you look at last years 6 month update, you can calculate that eve was down about 2.5k subscriptions in the first 6 months. But how much of that money was dust is the question. Keep in mind that Eve-Offline is not accounting for those passive players who are on call for any major fleet battles that may occur. The recent addition of infinite skill queue may have played a role as well.

Eve offline counts anyone who logs in. It's true it doesn't count how many people are paying, but one can assume that it's related quite strongly to the number of concurrencies. |

Yeah, sure. There are tens of thousands of Eve players just sitting offline indefinitely paying a subscription for a game that they never play.
Give up. Eve is actually declining at this point. If 40k + players is rebounding, then it has about 20k to go before you can say it's really "rebounding" since the devs at CCP built their game to be such a niche game that their current and past audience is just about their only audience. Incarna was just about the only time they ever tried to appeal to anyone outside of their niche market with that game and the players acted like brats and spoiled it for the large portion of the player base who actually wanted it and decided not to bother any more after witnessing the community act the way they did (like me).
When they actually manage to make their game "fun" and less about spreadsheets in space, then maybe they'll get the subscription base they always wanted. Until then, have fun with the decline. |

There just is no evidence to support either claim unfortunatly Yeah, sure.
Ah man ...look i dont want to pick a fight with you but stop spreading crap ...Eve online is in a very healthy state.
CCP have to a large degree made policy to not allow players multiboxing 10-20 acounts (mining fleets) so there was a crap load of people that got rid of their extra accounts because of this.
CCP's first priority is to make Eve a great game and if that means stepping on the toes of a few vets like myself then so be it ....Eve will be around for the next 12 years that you can take to the bank...there is just no equal.
I mean for how long has people been DOOMING Dust ...and its still around and getting better. Im really so tired of people trying to spread neg publicity (if you don't like the fucken game then move on ) !!!!!

I don't see how you can describe a continual die-off of players as "a very healthy state". Eve, most definitely, isn't in a "very healthy state". At best, it's sustaining CCP, but there's no growth at CCP anymore, and it's almost guaranteed that CCP is now shrinking because of a shrinking Eve playerbase.
As I said earlier, as an employee of CCP, you wouldn't be looking at a declining player base as anything but "not healthy".
Also, this isn't negative publicity. It's an answer to a question, but it is clear that there is a certain community out there that, somehow, wants to translate "declining since 2013" as somehow "very healthy".
PS - You can't have a game without players. |

EVE is shrinking, but so is the MMO market in general. The decline in users may be less than the industry average, which would be to the games credit. |

Riiiiiight. A steadily decreasing playerbase is just because of one rule decision which took place at one time. Look, I don't want to pick a fight with you but stop spreading crap, Eve is not in a healthy state. If this were the sole reason that the playerbase were declining, it would have been a jump, not a steady decline over time.
Nevermind the fact that CCP should've done something about this ******* years ago and sat on their ******* hands letting their game be ruined because of it. Now they just need to do something about the asshats who abuse the system by multiboxing and using ******* scouts in different corps to bypass the war dec system and get free intel. Or how about the log-on trick where players put a lone ratter in a pve cruiser and then suddenly 5 players log on and instantly appear in space to gank you. Eve is still terrible because of CCP's horrid decisions regarding what to allow in game and it's effectively ruined the game because of it. Only the hardcore players are sticking behind the sinking ship and now finally they're going too.
Which brings us to Dust now.
Lol. Dust is so healthy isn't it? It flopped on arrival and now only the few hardcore vets who saw "what it could be" are sticking around waiting for Dust to pick up and actually turn into something respectable. Yeah, it's getting so much better. It's not like it's still a pretty much dead game due to similar bad decisions for the game or the multi-year wait players have had to put up with to see "what it could be", just like Eve. Eventually, Dust will die off too unless they bring it to the PC and implement so many other basic gameplay features of a game that's supposed to be in an open persistent universe like they should've done years ago. The game is still a ******* exclusive on a system that's now roughly 9 ******* years old for christ's sake. You can't defend it any more. |

I certainly hope it gets released. I understand that the Eve side is the main revenue stream for CCP and Eve:Valkyrie is probably the main focus of CCP's development, but i'd buy a high quality gaming PC to play Legion as long as the progress made on Dust carries over. If CCP doesn't release it one day it'll be like dooking in the face of all of us who've paid money to support this game we love(and sometimes hate). I'd love a Dust like experience on PC especially if it played a more active role in the Eve universe. I think it'd also be cool to implement a War Thunder like element to Legion and Valkyrie. Think about it, Orbital strike inbound, pop to your handheld as a ground pounder and fly a sortie with a drone or Valkyrie fighter to knockout SatCom to disrupt the fight in space. Ahh probably won't happen like that but would be super cool. Thanks for reading o7

Waht we want from CCP is just to stand up and say what is the actual status of Project Legion. That's it.

stop being cowards and admit you all bit off more than you could chew.
face it ccp doesn't have the resources or the talent to bring another game to fruition.
prediction: eve online will be shutting down in 2017 ccp will be bought by EA and cannibalized.
