This shot contrail has always been a thing. it hasn't been showing up lately which is not cool

They're only taking something that is already there and making it last a little bit longer. If it's too much, it can be reduced a bit. How about waiting to check it out first? |

Once it is done and been live you cannot undo the effects as the huge SP mass is out there. Also even when changed quickly, there would be ground shaking player opposition if something already granted would be reduced back to current.
Why would it be bad?
1) First I remind about what CCP already found out: game must not be too grindy. Remember SP events before current nice system was used? The players and even devs found the events grindy. 700k+ cap was hardcore even for a single week event. Imagine 52 week grind. There's "the SP race" to stay competitive.
2) 750k unboosted per week, can CCP really bring enough content to sink in all that SP? And if yes, how bad it would react to new players? If good stuff would be hidden behind a wall of, say, 10M SP - how on earth could junior players match that? For the first time there would be a case that while most skill trees are balanced with new players progression in mind, the new SP sink trees would create areas of expertise that could not be reached by juniors in reasonable time.
BTW 750k with triple omega (no matter whether the end multiplier is 4x or 8x) is gonna be MILLIONS of sp per week.
3) Having players with everything opened up kills the feel of progression, kills the drive to reach and open something new. This could very well drive people away from being active players.
4) On AFK farming : Saying "now AFKing will be even dumber" is actually opposite from truth. - Currently, many people will not afk farm as they can actively cap out during a week. After proposed plan, they can now supplement their active games by afk farming. - Currently, many people cap in 2-3 days (with or without farming). They have no point in farming afterwards. After proposed plan, they can get extra benefits the whole week by afk farming.
If capped there's no afk farming. If cap is not reached afk farming is sensible. This is a solid fact.
Bonus personal example: Currently, I cap my chars in about 60 games or 20h of afk farming. After reaching the cap I begin to actively play that char to reap the extra games of 1500 or 2000 SP. After proposed plan, I assume that after farming 250 games for each character the week is almost over leaving only few active games.
5) Having extreme range of SP laying around makes char and SP transfer to (theoretical) Legion so much more difficult for devs. Currently the range is managable 0 to 80 M SP. The range of zero to 600M sounds so much more harder.
6) If argument 'only few people max out that hard' is used it's countered by 'then keeping barriers limits only those few people while reaping the advantages of prevenbting the damages'
TLDR: In having 750k cap, with triple stacked boosters multiplier and extra after game multiplier boost, there will be kazillion SP each week. Given out SP cannot be undone. Huge cap promotes afk farming. Huge cap is grindy. Either SP race has meaning and is essential to have that new SP - or - there's no meaning to have new SP for veterans.
Apologies for strict text but a big threat demands stern warnings.
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

I agree with this and I am sooo far from a sniper myself that there is no negative impact to my gamestyle... To the contrary, when I first read this in the Dev blog I was like "yes, you mothafuqqers are so gonna get a shotty blast to the back of your head now" but the more I consider this, and with all the other changes to snipers/SRs lately, this may be too much (ya, snipers are prolly like we passed "enough" a while back)...
If I get killed by a sniper once I let it go... second death, or even annoyingly pinged too frequently, and I make a point of forgoing WPs and begin hunting wabbits- huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh... You just need to know the map and where that sniper is most likely to be, use the hit flare to give you a general idea where... Most snipers camp and never relocate or are lazy and only move 20 meters... The bullet trail shouldn't persist for too long...
Be just and if you can't be just be arbitrary.

Couple things: Are the native reps reactivation part of an upcoming "balancing hotfix" ? I see no mention of them here.
Will (or rather, could) skillbook costs be varied, based on total respecs performed so as to mitigate/discourage respec abuse? The first respec you do, all the skillbooks you need to repurchase are priced as they were originally, but by the 4th or 5th time the cost has compounded (say by 5 or 8x) so as to keep the core value of Decisions Have Consequences in effect? Neewbs get off easy at first but chronic fotm respeccers will eventually hit a profit/loss wall, understand what I'm proposing? This qould , of course, work evenly in conjunction with the Loyalty Bonus proposal so that the final amounts of ISK paid per match/by market agents could also help as respec abuse deterrent.
What other equipment is currently under the microscope for use delays?
All in all, I look forward to 1.9, clouds and silver linings included

Well I take back all the bad things I said about CCP over the years (even though you all did deserve them at the time). Now that scouts have a small counter (though they still need to be monitored for future nerfs) the game seems to be moving in the right direction. The slight delay from cloak to firing, combined with alot of real content being added has me redownloading this game with real excitement.
The cloak combined with all the ewar threw off the rock paper scissor meta. This lead to scouts to play as individual killers with zero drawbacks to play out their COD fantasy of Dust 514. Add to that my personal color blindness and not seeing a cloak until 3-5 meters away left me no choice but to stop playing.
Ive always continued to monitor progress and can't wait to play yet again.

I salute the 1.9 and welcome it's changes. The biggest expectations which are hard to guess beforehand are the improvements on the framerate.

I would like to make a requst to up the amount of drop suit builds that u can have at 1 time. The limit is 30 right now. I have 4 proto suits and I have to delete 1 to try a new fit and I use every suit I have fitted almost every day. If we could get that pushed to 50 fits top it would help a lot of high sp ppl out because right now I dont want to get another suit because I cant even build all the fits I want to use with the suits I have.

Well done, Dust team. There are several features in 1.9 that many of us gave up asking for more than a year ago. This is the zombie revival of DUST 514. Perhaps you will find a way to necro hope itself.
Battlegrounds, sockets & moods: I love it when you peeps exploit the f*** out of the combinatorics =)
Loyalty Ranks: I love it when you peeps exploit the f*** out of our single shard. And our epeens ;)
Sell to market: Neutral. Won't be interesting until players can interact with players.
BPO transfer between characters: Didn't see that coming but love what it does for new peeps.
Quick buttons in Merc Quarters: Good for new peeps, for vets menu is now muscle memory
SP/WP buff: Great to see a shift towards merit-based gaming. But the underlying geometry of the game design is still off and peeps may be AFKing more with the higher sp cap.
SP Cap: Good to keep peeps playing later into the week, but what will happen with all these sp when we migrate to Legion? Logarithmic derating?
Booster threesomes: Who could resist? Just please don't make the AUR-flogging cheesy. Dust/New Eden deserve better.
SP R&R: Since we're not really part of New Eden anymore, i suppose it doesn't matter. But if we were....grrrrr One other thing: by the time a 30 million sp vet has respecced once, they know enough to never need to again. Think about it.
Rendering optimizations: Sounds beautiful. Say it again. Frame rate changes the kinesthetic feel, and lordy lordy that feels good... P.S. And i suppose it's ok if you help the DS pilots
Sprint bug: I feel like one of the old wounds has healed.
Tanks/Tacnet: Had given up all hope...I'm not ashamed of these tears.
Passive Scans/Cloak/Put-down-delay: My Minsault's KDR just went up, tyvm.
Mobile CRU Spawn WP for pilots: A great injustice has been undone. I'll respawn on DS just because.
Injectors/revives: So long it took before CCP acknowledged our right to die. A merc has his rights!
Concerns:
Sniper round trails: So Hand-holdy, makes me think that CCP sees us Dust Mercs as idiot children. S*** like this is exactly why i was never interested in playing those other big-name fpses. I hope the effect is very mild, and very hard to see on a dusk map.
Active Scanner: Has been heavily incentivised. Will definitely increase the wall-hackiness of DUST. Is that what we really want? P.S. As a solo non-tanky minsault the scanner has never stopped beeing standard kit for me. This change incentivises me to fit a higher-tier scanner. We're going to have entire teams walhacking each other.
Request: Can we get the name of the maps on the deployment screen? Would do a lot to encourage map awareness and player conversations. Hopefully very easy to do.
Good job peeps. Keep it up and i may spend money on your game again. Like in the old days, when hope was alive and we dreamed of what could be.
