well - what can i say here with out getting myself banned... whats wrong with you ccp? you promised us a 10 year game and barely delivered one out of closed beta. i have a 44m sp char...will it get moved over to the new game or are you completely going to abandon me? i've spent money on this game and a lot of time. i payed the money and spent the time on good faith that this game would be something and my investment would pay off. i was hoping to be well setup for this games future. from what i read, hear and see there is none.
this is beyond wrong and beyond shady. i'll be asking for a complete refund from Sony. how dare you ccp. you knew this was coming and through xp events and encouraged more purchases to milk the last little bit from your loyal player base. a player base that has stuck with you and played a, frankly, sub par game with a great concept and a lot of potential. that's just wrong. big business ethics at work. no respect no loyalty... ****, pillage and plunder all you can then get out. congratulations ccp, you suck. |

Eve players are pc fanboys for the most part. good luck having dust players get ANY love from the eve players. so that is out the window.
the dust players are now going to have a vastly inferior game, i'm not talking graphics either I am talking gameplay wise I guarantee the pc players will get love
dust should have just been made for ps4 which is where a lot of people have been moving, once you go to ps4 you probably aren't touching ps3 for a game like dust (no offense)
I actually spent money on dust, and though I quit, I'm a little ticked off that it's over. there is no point in playing dust because the moment it comes to pc what is left of the ps3 version is going to be useless.
It's like we beta tested a demo. not beta tested a game, a demo.
the sad thing is, dust was unique it just shouldn't have been made for ps3, rather the ps4. bad timing but doesn't mean you should scurry off to pcfanboy land and kill what was built. |

These are fair points, but what did CCP know and when? A lot of what of what was promoted for DUST is now for Legion it seems - when did that decision occur? Maybe I missed something but until now there was rather positive reinforcement that things like player market and PVE would come to DUST eventually.
There is such a thing as expectation management and I'm not sure it was demonstrated in an entirely favourable way.
At this point, one could be inclined to believe that the reason DUST was brought out of beta in the state it was in, was precisely because they knew it wasn't going anywhere, and needed to make some kind of return...
I'm saying that is what I believe, but the way this was handled - no one can exactly trust what CCP is doing or where it is going with what product.

2) People are naive to think that a PS3-only shooter can survive for as long as EVE has on the PC. Most FPS communities count themselves extremely lucky if they survive their first year on a console, whereas the PC is THE place for games to survive for very, very long periods, even thrive. If anything, this could help Dust on the PS3 in the long run, rather than kill it.
3) There are people on other platforms who want to play Dust aswell but don't want to buy a PS3 for it - A rather large portion of the EVE players for example, as well as people playing Planetside 2 who want something else than a perpetual zerg rush and a more organized game structure. There's a market for this kind of game and it's not bound to the PS3.
So far, i repeat, NOTHING has been confirmed, not even that Legion will even make it to release. Jumping to conclusions based on no facts whatsoever is not productive in any way.
During the Dust 514 Progression presentation, someone asked the question on whether characters could be transferred. They don't know yet, but would like to include the possibility, however the statement was made in such a way that it doesn't preclude the possibility of Dust and Legion simply being the same game on different platforms. I saw multiple people on the forums jumping to conclusions that it would not be possible, based on no fact whatsoever.
That last bit does depend on the PS3 though... It seems like some of the features aren't going to be possible (at least not with a playable framerate) on the PS3, hence they wanted to look for other possibilities. Even Destiny will have heavily instanced areas on both the PS3 and 360 for this reason, as well as a limit to a handful of players. MAG, while having a high player limit, had extremely small maps to put them in comparatively. The newest COD and BF have limits of 18 and 24 players respectively on the console, the latter having comparable map sizes to Dust. Don't overestimate console hardware from 2005....
Dust either being expanded to or moving to the PC was something that was bound to happen from the moment it was announced. Everyone knows this but most seem unwilling to admit it. If or when it does, CCP won't be dicks and just close Dust down. At least it will go on with it's own team behind it and if it turns out to be possible you're going to be given the option to move with all your assets intact.
Instead of trying to reach for pitchforks and torches, just wait a bit and see what's actually going to happen. |

just to clarify one thing CCP: you cannot have anymore both AND splitted, Legion on PC - and PVP-Lobby-Shooter Dust on PS3/ PS4 - you can only have either Legion, Dust - and what not - on PC, or Dust & Legion as one game on PS3/ PS4 (and on PC !!!ADDITIONALLY!!! if you like).
because trying the foremost approach triggers one, as i believe completely unavoidable chain-reaction of game-death - if you care enough, here the in-deep explanation:
the one thing that kept the majority of us logging on over and over again and (maybe even) playing, was certainly not that we loved playing tiny PVP-Lobby-Shooter so incredibly much - in fact the most people here hated this aspect much too much for it to be of any good enough reason to keep sticking around here.
no, the reason most of us sticked with grinding in this garbage was, next to friendships mostly that one thing that differed Dust from the very beginning from most other games - a promised long and glorious future in which Dust will be so much more than a d*mned little PVP-Lobby-Shooter on console like a million other.
so in the end, it means by now that saying: "this future will be on PC" - equals as: "if you are not a PC-Gamer, or are not planning on becoming one in the near future - all your past, present and future money, time and energy investments in Dust are for nothing",
as the majority of players here leave because of neither planning to be a future Eve-Legion-Player on PC - nor to keep being a Dust PVP-Lobby-Shooter player, which will unavoidably even make the PVP-Lobby-Shooter-Project Dust die out of severe under-population, regardless of how "officially" or not.
and at the very end of this chain-catastrophe, even the guys that actually really enjoyed the PVP-Lobby-Shooter aspect of Dust enough for it to be reason enough to stay because of it - will leave too, as they will unavoidably see the sings of time and of under-population dying game as well.
R.I.P. Dust - or Dust & Legion as one game, on whichever platforms - i am afraid this are the only two options to pick. |

Heres how it happens.
CCP said for years they would add atmospheric flight, planetary exploration, feet-on-the-ground content to EVE, waht did we get instead? DUST 514 which they kept claiming "wasnt a blatant lie, because look, it totally has EVE next to the name, so its still technically *IN* EVE and not a lie" despite the fact it was on an entirely separate console inaccessible to msot of the EVE playerbase.
Now DUST and all of its "Future Features" are going to be in Legion "Oh but its still ground combat, its just the evolution of DUST, it doesnt matter that its on a completely separate platform and you cant transfer data, were sure youll love it adn the tagalong arena lobby CoD shooter that is DUST 514"
What should have happened from the beginning is to have DUST 514 start as an integrated part of the EVE client, separate skill queue and everything, with DUST features accessible on unsubscribed accounts (just no spaceship content unless subscribed). This would have allowed deep integration off the bat. hen you could have expanded out to the console market.
This solution would have avoided alienating 2 separate playerbases, supposedly (according to the whole reason Legion is being developed) would have avoided most if not all of the development issues, would have kept EVE itself as the quintessential Sci-Fi universal experience, and at the end of the day cause a shitton less grief.
Instead, youv'e pieced out valuable parts of the EVE experience in a way that will rpevent ANY of them from ever being fully integrated, due to your belief they must all be able to stand alone. you've lied repeatedly. youve carouselled around a valuable piece of the EVE world. and frankly, I think people are getting tired of the concept that to experience "the full EVE" they would need multiple separate non-interacting accounts, and several thousand dollars in different platforms. Hell, didnt Soundwave say before he left, if it was up to him and his team, Things like mining would have godawful minigames, and PI would be ripped out in favor of a tablet minigame?
what next, an EVE 2 with all the fixes weve always wanted?
EVE should be ONE world, not two games//one universe, ONE game, ONE world, ONE community, but you seem adamant to keep us all separated and chasing around projects like our time, progression, and trust is cheap and meaningless. |
