Project or not, you spent the ENTIRE keynote talking about Legion, a project that is "separate" from dust. You spent the entirety of the "dust 514 progression" presentation talking about things that will only translate to Legion.
The one thing this states in very clear letters is, "we are no longer supporting dust" "we have no content to show for dust" "all things being developed are for Legion"
WHERE IS THE DUST KEYNOTE! Pyrex gave us more dust info they CCP Rouuuuuge
I am excited for Legion, but its not dust. I wanted dust info, not legion. Do not give us a trojan horse and expect us to fall for it.

You know, at least Dust was helpful in prototyping a new title. I mean, honestly the process has been data rich, revealing player interests, play styles, methods of exploitation, what FPS players want/expect from a game, and perhaps even some weaknesses on CCP's part in handling such things. Hopefully this all translates into a new, more professional game with a robust and effective model.
Plus, really, I mean, I feel bad for saying it since it seemed like Sony genuinely tried to give CCP room to maneuver, but a game of this style is better suited to PC for many, many reasons and a console company can only do so much. A big one is ready access to social features inside the game and beyond it that the PS3 just can not replicate (and the PS4 is ill-likely to get the necessary software).
I feel let down that now, in all likelihood, Dust is going to be the contractually obliged red headed step-child that lives in the backyard, in the cold Swedish rain only too conscious of the fact that it will never be as regarded as the new child that has come to take what little place Dust had , had near the fire and then more as Legion is, in a way previously unknown to Dust, earnestly loved. That is, this painful scene and realization before the happiness of Legion serves to deaden a heart near breaking; the infrequent and undeniably lesser scraps CCP sends its way out of pity only enough to surely prolong Dust's suffering before the inevitable.
But mostly I'm just glad to know that CCP hasn't given up on making a FPS despite all the flak they got for Dust.
Plus, how about this line: "And lo, the Dust settled. And Legion rose"
Euhhhhhhhh?? ;D

CCP isnGÇÖt known for wiping characters off the servers, so I would guess thereGÇÖs some kind of character transfer in the works. Legion looks amazing, and wouldnGÇÖt be surprised if there was a PS4 announcement coming. Just like Valkyrie, which was a PC/Rift exclusive and then got announced for PS4. But Legion would have to be a cross-platform engine that allowed PS4 and PC players to fight each other in the same space, for the planetary control to work. Personally I donGÇÖt mind moving to PC and not having to buy a PS4. I understand some people just like to play on consoles.
I would be very upset to find out the things I spent real money on just to collect, faction suits and vehicles, where going to be deleted. If you want answer out of Iceland, then a player protest is the fastest way. Stop playing or join a match and donGÇÖt spawn to create server load. After a big enough chunk of players join the protest theyGÇÖll answer. This has worked in EVE many times when the player base was unhappy. |

That really isn't funny. I personally hate what ccp is doing with dust right now, but making a joke about someone's death is a terrible thing.

I haven't play Dust much but I have been an avid EVE player since 2009...this announcement doesn't surprise me, but it is absolutely a blatant disregard for your Dust community. The PC is NOT the ultimate superior gaming system. Sure PS3 may have seen its day, but the point is you never even tried to migrate to the PS4. For all you PC enthusiast the PC is NOT an eternally viable platform for many reason. Yes it is essentially the same platform but so is the Playstation, different models yes, but same platform. The same is said for PC, difference variations BUT the same platform. So while DUst would need to go to PS4 and PS5 if it comes out in order to stay alive. It would need to be done on PC as well. Every 2-3 years you have to update your hardware to stay current in performance demands. So while Playstation has PS3, PS4, and PS5...the PC would have dx10 dx11 dx12 and so on.
The issue here is that CCP hoped to get more than the 9K players it got, they wanted to see numbers equal to eve and it didnt happen. They claim it is a limited system to design a game on when in reality they are just used to PC development...and based on the last few eve expansions or "patches" as they should be more properly called, they are failing at that too.
All I can tell you PS3 Dust players is....this IS how CCP operates, they like to promise **** and then screw their player base. They have done that so many times in eve that I think the eve community has just become numb from it and expect it. Its a horrible thing, they literally pushed marketing for stuff to sell leading up to Fanfest and then dropped the bomb, "oops sorry guys but you can always buy a PC and play legion which is tons better."
CCP, this is the Jita riot of Dust and you better damn well get used to it because while you will gain a few eve players in legion, you will most likely lose 70-80% of your dust player base. You F***ed up by dropping the bomb this early, you can kiss any dust income goodbye. I have already put my PS3 up for sale and I wont be playing dust again even if you salvage it. In fact I seriously will need to question my involvement in eve as well. |

Except it wasn't a death threat, which I agree are not something that should happen over a video game.
I also agree it's not funny, but not because of the content in the joke.
Jokes about anything in life is perfectly fine as long as it's an actual joke.

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt for a bit. The devs have shown themselves to be nice guys and CCP is a business but they value their gamers as much as they do making money. I think it very likely that they will try to compensate people who spent real money. But bro you can't keep your BPOs. Super Dust will be too different in that aspect. It was sarcasm folks.. sarcasm. If anyone took it seriously then you need to put the controllers, keyboard, mouse, etc down and get outside more. While it may not have been in good taste, it was only sarcasm, not a death threat, not an actual wanting someone dead in real life.. just a voicing of frustration on the current state of affairs and dislike for it's leadership. |

Seriously? Do you really believe this gibberish?
Trust? What trust? The trust of promises that have fallen short? Of constant promises to fix thing, add things, etc yet these days never come?
Perhaps the trust of a working product? Not hotfixes ontop of hotfixes. Mostly because by their own words their Dev team has been busy elsewhere.
Value their gamers? That is the biggest joke. What have they done to show their gamers they have any value? Listened to the community? Implemented desperately needed components into the game?
The only thing they are going to try to do is sell you more crap via the Dust store to fund what is NOT Dust.
Anyone who thinks they will continue to update and work on Dust when they have a new project child is delusional. Especially with resources spread thin.
They could still salvage Dust by moving it to PS4, which is just as capable running their new toy as the PC. Dust doesn't have to sit on the PS3 system and rot, unless they want it to die.
They have repeatedly bitten the hand that feeds them. Perhaps you have been absent for most of the past updates of late?
This is a pre emptive move to start closing down Dust. In the process they have spat in the faces of it's supporters, fans and have decided to totally alienate their console player base because of superficial numbers that don't exist.

To be honest Im not sure which is more insulting, that they have taken what was promised to PS players and moved it to a PC or the fact that they have secretly been using up Dust dev time behind our backs for the past year to develop a demo of legion. |

You should just go ahead and get him to answer one important question "Will dust players be able to transfer their characters to Legion".. that's pretty much it. Once we get an answer to that, I can guarantee you it will be determinant in deciding whether people continue playing Dust - which lets be realistic, will have no new content until it is shut down... maybe a stability or bug fix here and there... but considering all your development time has been on a new game, and will continue to be that way - please don't insult people's intelligence and don't ruin the crediblity that you still have by trying to say "oh we're still working on Dust" - if you'd been working on it, we would've seen something today... we didn't... so there's nothing to show, that is the bottom line. Some timelines would be nice too. So much this. Infinity this. This * Infinity ^ Infinity.
You literally killed the game until you can answer:
"Will dust players be able to transfer their characters to Legion"
Jesus Christ CCP so much epic fail.
"Victory is reserved for those who are willing to pay it's price."
