Just went 21-2 in my proto commando. About half my kills came from the laser rifle, other half assault scrambler rifle. Both deaths were picked up so I lost nothing. The enemy had a squad of various proto users, of which were part of my kills, and the funny thing about it all for me was this happened all inside the middle of Caldari Orbital Artillery outpost.
Nothing special, just it's reassuring to me that I can make the current commando work in highly contested areas against other proto suits. I'm feeling really good about 1.8.

Aero, I'd like to be on the registry, I'm currently saving SP for my Adv Commando. I've been finding ironically I'm best with it as support, I run a BDR2 and squad with other heavies when possible. I'd also love to get in on a Commando squad sometime.

So those Damage Bonuses Commandos are getting just got better. (in a way)
With Damage Mod/Prof changes the Commando has really taken a spotlight on damage delivery.

Pretty much the same with me as well, I mean you look at my name and its no secret what I came in Dust to do. The only problem is when I fly I'm using a placeholder for a placeholder. What I mean by that is the assault dropship to me is acting as a placeholder for the fighter jet I really want to use, and even then the Incubus is acting as a placeholder for the Amarr ship I really want to use.
Figure if we get a respect I'll still max out my commando simply because it is the most fun you can have on two feet.

Eh, too much of the same thing IMO, even if one is armor centric and one is shield centric. I still prefer mixing various ranges opposed to damage types.
And yes, the reload speed is very underrated.

Plus keep in mind I have max out all the basic fitting skills, as well as get both weapon optimizations to 3, plus I forgot to include light weapon operations 4 is required as well. And even with this I had to sacrifice my high slot as well as weaken the tier of one of my light weapon and both lows. Are the sacrifices worth it for a standard piece of equipment? We shall see.

Man I'm really hoping this tool is accurate because I'm going to dump a lot of extra SP into making this fit work.
