A bunch of ideas from this thread that I like: Jetpack should go in the equipment slot, so you have to select and activate it manually (this would keep people from having gunfights midair).

My standard recommendation is the Weapons skill, since it gives you extra damage per level and gets you access to damage mods, basically letting you kill anything in your sights. It's a wonderful feeling, watching that healthbar go down

Use a Shield Extender instead of 2 Damage Mods, otherwise you'll be a glass cannon. I always carry Nanite Injector in my equipment slot, just so I'm ready if an ally goes down
