I think the dropship needs some love. Give dropships the ability to use the vertical as a counter to ground fire. I think this would make the game a lot more dynamic and give dropships a fighting chance. I want more targets in the sky for my forge ******. |

This is probably the biggest downside to increasing the flight ceiling. Even, still I think whatever annoyances is creates I think it will be good to really give the dropship back some oomph.

If possible weather effects would be great. Nothing like MFS or anything, but maybe an occasional dust storm, or some limit to visibility (fog, dust, smoke). It would turn a surefire (pardon the pun) sniper match into a slug fest. And it would give us pilots some kind of defense from a flock of missile throwers or turrets.
I would like to second (third and forth) the fact that Dropships are awesome, but wish they were alittle easier to obtain, and the WP could be attained for suppressive fire, troop drops and the like. What would be really cool is if you could be part of a dust off crew...
Don't know how we could do it but I could be part of the Dropship Pilot School Cadre' if there was a (you won't die here map). I'm a current fixed wing and helicopter instructor and could get people to not crash so fast.
On the part of crashing.... I second a good visual means of flying this thing with some kind of radar altimeter function with moving map. Also manual take off and landing is great but in the future could we have a basic autopilot (straight and level flight, orbiting, figure eight). That would free up our hands to shoot, repair, turn on goodies).
cheers,

I am not here to simply bash your idea but I simply think giving drop ships a higher climb is to much they have the ability to use speed modules and rush around buildings just like tanks are maint to do you don't see tanks getting a buff just to be buffed. This i something you will have to work on your own drop ship and drop ship strategy. |

The flight ceiling isn't that intrusive into actual flight operations, which are usually reasonably low altitude. That said, I find it highly frustrating, and I'd like to see it increased to at least high enough to clear the MCC. That way I can remote rep the MCC. |

The ceiling is fine for low level flight, but when you need altitude so you can escape all the crap being fired at you being forced to fly along a relatively flat plane is ridiculous. |

1) The ceiling is not a performance ceiling, it is a hard force field. It completely breaks immersion to boost with afterburners and bounce off the ceiling, then keep bouncing off it like a skipping stone on water as you fly along.
2) The ceiling is lower than your merc can climb on foot in 30 seconds. This isn't Mount Everest we are talking about, it's a freaking little hill! This is an advanced tech civilization and they can't make a ship that can fly more than a hundred feet off the ground???
3) It feels claustrophobic. Even if most of my operations are at low level it feels like I have an invisible hand pushing down on me. I can't climb high enough to clear the small hills that surround most maps so it feels like i'm flying in a box canyon.
4) Dropships hang in the sky visible to just about anyplace on the map. They have very little cover up there. If you let them fly higher to avoid danger they would also be unable to fire at you, yielding balance. |

About that last one... don't small missile turrets and small railguns have effectively infinite range at our current map size? |

If you can't dodge a rocket from a few hundred feet I feel sorry for you. And if you manage to hit someone with one of those from a few hundred feet away, you deserve it. I tried shooting people with a rail gun when my ship was nearly on the ground and next to them and I still had a hard time hitting them, rail shots just go everywhere.

Nothing wrong with creating higher camping spots for snipers. In reality a sniper would go to such a place, no? Want a counter? Gun 'em down in your own dropship or counter-snipe.

what dropships need are higher ceilings. ATM it's just so low. But also they are in my opion the weakest vehicle because of their vunerability. A shield boost would be great or perhaps a smokescreen module to hide from those damn swarm launchers. Finally get rid of that horrible insta-destruction when you touch the smallest thing. It makes some pickups so difficult |

One billion times this. I understand that collision damage is necessary to prevent dropships from just squishing everyone with impunity, but now even gently touching a wall will make you explode, no matter how much shield and armor you got. |

I have had no issues with the flight ceiling under the conditions of the current maps but for the full game it needs and increase so we can fly over some of thoose mountins by skim junction/ luanch site.
thankfully we can still do backflips though, comes in handy every now and then. |

1 billion not enough, go for trillion xed by 10 trillion. the evryonhe dies is a pain, especilty since mine is stronger then some tanks but a spawning in LAV takes no damage (aswell as its RDV) but me and my gunner crew instantly dies. |

After a certain point, they just stop being effective - it's just too hard to get a hit. |

the height isnt as much the problem, but Dropships moving WAY beyond the redline is. Its a bit ridiculous to see a dropship under fire move so far outside the map area it hides behind the mountains. As if Redlining wasnt bad enough,we get Dropship Redlining? |
