I have some militia dropships and I'm trying to practice flying them and they won't ever take off. I can rotate it, and the thrusters move, but holding L1 doesn't make them lift off. I even bumped it with an LAV in case it was stuck on the ground ...

Anyone can carry a nano hive, and it's very common for people to do so. This isn't specifically a logistics issue. Repair tools are generally only used by logistics, along with nanite injectors for some reason.

I agree, but remember that there are dropsuit modules that speed up hacking, and logistics suits get a 10% bonus on top of that. Spending time to add extra hacking defense is a good idea, though.
